The Red Ring of Death and the closure of Tango Gameworks. Seriously, Microsoft? What is it with you guys? I wish that Tango Overworks should have been sold to another Japanese company.

I am still pissed that Xbox closed down tango game works because they gave us the excellently hi fi rush which was amazing in my opinion.

I’ve never played Hi Fi Rush, and I wanted it to get a Switch port, because I am sure not going to buy an Xbox or a PS5 to play it, which leaves Steam as my only way to play it. But I hope that another studio is able to port Hi Fi Rush to Switch, but this is Microsoft, the people who effectively killed the Banjo-Kazooie franchise with Nuts & Bolts.

I'm gonna always say this; Tango Gameworks shutting down thanks to Microsoft is the most braindead move Microsoft has ever done, considering that Hi-Fi RUSH won SO MANY AWARDS and was received super well. So well that it moved to PlayStation 5.
I’ve said this before but I think their dumbest move is the whole “we need games like Hi-Fi Rush” debacle immediately after shutting Tango Gameworks down BUT I’ll give them credit where it’s due, todays Showcase was the best Xbox Showcase for years

Rare being mostly mishandled since Microsoft bought them is my buggest issue. The new Perfect Dark, the last Killer Instinct, the last Battletoads. All Rare IPs but no involvement. The last gen they were all Kinect games. The current one is just Sea Of Thieves?
Rare wanted to make Kinect games and Sea of Thieves, Microsoft tends to be pretty hands off with studios
Xbox to be loved by fans.

2 stop shutting down good studio.

4 affordable games on xbox pass
5 stop being telling customers one thing and investors other thing.
6 help to build small to medium size studios to build exclusive games.
Despite Lionhead and Tango Gameworks going, Rare is still going strong.
Rare has been in a hard decline ever since Microsoft bought them
Sea of Thieves? Nah, it's a bad game since day one and even after all those expansions, the damage was already done
Conker? He pretty much died alongside that Project Spark thing
Banjo-Kazooie? They've let Nintendo include them in Smash Ultimate as DLC as well as the OG game on the NSO N64 app because they can't do shit with the IP
Perfect Dark? One look at the trailer for the reboot today and you can see it went into a more generic direction instead of the style of the N64 original
Killer Instinct? They've let other Microsoft studios handle the reboot/sequel and it was bad to a point Rare brought the OG game on the NSO SNES app
Also, we cannot forgive Microsoft to force Rare into making those shitty Kinect games that eventually flopped
The studio was mistreated so bad most of the core people left to form Playtonic Games while others joined some small studios and even some well known ones
To say Rare is still going strong is a massive lie

It's nice that you can watch movies and media on your game console but what about the games? I think more people are interested in that. The gaming side should be the major focus, not the media side. Xbox One is also a stupid name. Isn't that what the original Xbox should be called?

As 2024 and beyond, it feels like a dark era in the game industry for Microsoft.
Tango was the most logical of them,
3/4 games considered "failures" one game doesn't save a studio
My least favorite thing they did was, DROP 3rd party support for accessories and stuff, and now my 3rd party pink xbox princess controller no longer works, I now have to use a boring white controller
I heard about some of the negatives about the most recent Forza Motorsport's "controversial changes" such as replacing the option to simply buy performance upgrades with unlocking them with car points
I will never forgive them for closing Lionhead with the Fable games, and then the red ring of death which ate my fallout new vegas game, and fable 3.
After that I switched fully to PC.
Been an Xbox owner since day 1 and couldnt agree more with most of these takes, especially the closures and Game Pass issues. I have Game Pass Ultimate mostly to play online, and try games I normally wouldn't. But I ALWAYS buy the games I enjoy on Game Pass, to support the developers hard work. Never got the RROD either, lucky me!
I love that you posted this especially on the same day as the Xbox showcase. Still upset they unnecessarily closed down performing studios. What were they thinking shutting down Tango and the others. Even Geoff at the game awards knew he had egg on his face for rushing developers off stage and not spotlighting the indie games properly.
Got hit with RROD twice on my 360. The embarrassing 2013 E3 show about Xbox One where all they talk about was TV TV TV TV TV TV. 😂
9-8. Look, if an employee or studio is genuinely bad, does some nasty business, or makes nothing but bad games, then they DEFINITELY deserve to be let go or shut down. However, I CANNOT and WILL NOT advocate for any poorly concieved mass layoffs or studio shutdowns of any kind. What kind of image do you think that makes for the industry?!

This is just mind-boggling, I thought the pandemic was over! WHY IS BUSINESS SO CRAPPY?!!! It feels like instead of learning to better themselves, Microsoft is thinking a bunch of backwards sense because their lawyers say [In a suthern accent] "It makes them the big bucks."
3. The only reason why people think of the Red Ring of Death and DON'T associate it with the death of Microsoft's console career is because the PS3's launch was also bad (if not worse, what with it's overpriced price tag, and cel-processor that was difficult to work with or develop games for). When even a lackluster success only happens because of your enemy's failure, you know something went very wrong.
2. I don't understand what the big deal is. We're getting access to a library of games in rotation when you subscribe.

It ain't fishy. It's a much-needed reminder of what xbox is like these days & how it's being run. Xbox was great during the OG Console & 360 eras but post-360, it's been endlessly downhill ever since.

Red Ring of Death was the most detrimental thing to happen for ppl who owned the console. You would either get it, and find a way to fix it so it wouldn’t happen OFTEN, or It was completely over for your Xbox and just had to straight up get a new one…nothing but tears everytime it flashed red 😭
I was about to mention the falling out of id Software's Marty Stratton with Mick Gordon, but I remember that was before Bethesda became part of Xbox. They got involved too, but that was another story.

Trying to put Game Pass on Nintendo and PlayStation and Nintendo which are competitor platforms.
The leaked email from 2020 regarding possibly trying to acquire Valve, WB and trying a second time to acquire Nintendo.
The Xbox One reveal was the moment I swapped to PlayStation for that next generation. PS5 was a similar disaster when it launched with it not being able to keep up with demand and scammers had a blast of a time. That is when I hopped to PC gaming 😉

As a Playstation player, I completely agree. They absolutely do not care about their player base at all whatsoever. Its like they do the opposite of what we ask intentionally just to laugh in our face half the time.

I grew up praying Xbox, Playstation, and Nintendo. Had both a xbox 360 and ps3. Loved them both, but to be honest, xbox One was annoying, and when i got my first ps4, i already played xbox One at the time. Having to be online all the time and it other issues ruined it for me. Plus, Playstation has some amazing exclusive. I did love halo and fable series, but xbox Royalty screwed up with them, and the fact we won't see another fable game really grid my gears.
We need a Project Milo sequel!

There are so many lies and misinformation in this video, especially as it pertains to Tango Game works. By no means am I defending the closure but saying Tango was a studio that specialized in smaller games when HiFi Rush was their only "small" game is misleading. Planting the blame for its closure only on MS is also misleading as it was later revealed that the studio was on the brink of closure before the acquisition. In a way MS kept them alive until it was no longer sustainable. Also the creator (Shinji) left the studio after MS took over which was a major blow. Again. I personally think that it was a HORRIBLE decision to let that studio go but you are just misleading people by saying this was because off poor hardware sales for Xbox when no official statement has been made one way or the other bout its closure.
How tacky of you to post this video after the Xbox presentation. I can name quite a few flaws about the PLAYSTATION. Jus sayin.

Hating exclusives makes no sense to me. Why should I bother having an XB with no clear difference between that and a PS? Or PC for that matter? (This is from the eye of a common consumer, I know many of yall out there feel a huge difference) I'm just saying, if Cuphead gets a sequel and I can only play on an XB, I would buy one just for that if I didn't have it already.

XboxLiveGold meant paying to play games you already paid for on a console you already paid for. And that was the very end of my attempts at participating in console gaming.

I've been with xbox since day 1 and just recently got me a playstation for the first time ever. As a PlayStation gamer I don't like when competition isn't doing their best, because it means SONY can get lazy.
So as a gamer I like that PC gaming is the strongest, NINTENDO does their thing with the awesome titles and MS releases successful games that tempt me into buying their console, but I won't 😜
Of course Xbox has suffer through many years? Lucky I didn't get the red ring of death since I waited the right moment? Got the 360 first since 2013. Then on 2016 I got the Xbox One and I felt bad for the Xbox One Kinect since it was discontinued to soon and finally bought it for $9.99 at Game Stop? And Gold Membership didn't give a lot of best games? Only a few. Then on 2023 I finally got the Xbox Series X gave away my Xbox One to my other family and I was really happy and plus I'm done with consoles and moving on to PC for the rest of my life. 😊😊😊😊💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚

Being a console fanboy sucks games should be on every console not just one single one. They should be for everyone to enjoy and not pay hundreds and thousands of dollars for a console just to play an exclusive it pathetic the kinds of fanboys these games make.

Some of these that I know were the 2006 E3 when PS3 and the prices were ridiculously high. $499 for 20GB & $599 for 60 GB. The other was the 2011 PSN hack that shut down online play and PS store for a couple of months.

-In July of 2024, Microsoft would be shutting down the Xbox 360 storefront. Meaning all games, DLC, expansions, etc on the storefront would be gone! FOREVER! I'm not sure if this applies to playing 360 games on X-1 or XSX though.
HOW IN WHAT ANTI-MATTER UNIVERSE IS SHUTTING DOWN THE STOREFRONT A GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE?!!! Players have access to the storefront and all the content, so what's wrong with keeping the store open so long as they turn a profit?! You know people actually HATED when Sony tried to shut down the PS3 Store, right? YOU WEREN'T SUPPOSED TO COPY THEM!
