GX Bob you're the man when it comes to the GX mods and issues. I'm 6' tall and 2 weeks after I bought my GX I had buyers remorse because the seats suck! I must adjust it 10x a day to/from work trying to get comfortable and still my legs and back end up numb.
@@GXBOB Yes, I purchased the ones in your link from Amazon. I left them in for a week or so but ended up taking them out since it was still uncomfortable (to me). The spaces are made in the USA and are high quality, so no issues there. I just ended up putting a pad on top of the seat and that fixed my issue (hokey I know but it works until I can find a more-permanent solution). With that, I think the seats do not have enough padding in them, plus the seat is too narrow and the bolsters hit me under the leg...

Also I removed my driver's seat and changed the location of the anchor points for the seat bracket where it attaches to the seat adjustment jack screw. Bob - timely video and thanks for sharing. Recently purchased a BMW with uncomfortable seats (too firm on longer trips) and was considering switching to a GX. Sounds like the GX (and I've read on forums and Facebook groups) has it's own set of seat problems. Will definitely need to take an extended test to be sure I don't exchange one set of problems for another, but sounds like this is a good solution. Joe
I just took a 2 hour trip up to Lake Arrowhead. So far i like it.It required several adjustments for me to find my perfect position but i found it. No more painful butt bones.
I’ve been getting an influx of 2022 questions. Through many of the minor to moderate changes Lexus made, I’ve haven’t heard or seen changes to the driver seat except color choices. I’m sure its the same but i would ask the makers of the spacers to verify. Hint…. They are refundable.
Aye GX Bob, How's it hanging. I just came on this video to ask a question about these seat risers again. I ordered these off Amazon off of your link about 3 weeks ago. I finally got some time this weekend to install and do some others things to the GX. I was actually just questioning whether or not I should actually install these or just return them and get the $100ish back?? I bought them mainly because I had about 4-5 days of sciatica pain and I assumed it was from the Gx seat. I don't know if it was though. I'm not dealing with that pain any more at all. I also drove it to Chicago over Memorial Day because I had an appt with Ahmad at "The Toyota Care Nut's Shop. I'm in Lake St. Louis MO and it's almost 5 hours there and 5 hours back. Then I was at his shop for an hour or so for my appt and the gas station stops here an there added up to me spending roughly 12 hours in the GX for the first time since I bought it last February. I actually had no back or sciatica pain though from the seat driving oddly enough. I'm 6ft tall about 160lbs. If I install this is it only going to help do you think? Do you still have your's installed and or do you just leave them installed all the time even for daily driving? I'm curious to know your opinion on them for the longer term. The Toyota Car Care Nut said the GX I got at 97k looked great. All the things that the Local Mercedes Dealership did to the vehicle before listing it for sale and all the things that I payed my local Lexus Dealership to do were all actually done and done correctly etc etc. He said that the Base "Base" model like I have is the best one to get for long term reliability reasons which is great news because although in great shape mine had almost 100k on it when I bought it ya know. Mine does not have a Sport or comfort mode, AVS or the Air Suspension in the rear. In his opinion he thinks they will be the most sought after models in the future because of the extra reliability they have over most. He said he hasn't even seen that many true base model GX460's in the last 20 years. The only thing that is starting to go bad on my GX and alot around a 100k miles right now is the bushings in the KDSS and he unfortunately could not fix it.......He does not have the specialty tool you need to correctly to service the KDSS even though he ordered it almost a year ago. He said he has several GX's already scheduled to have it done when he gets the tool. It's a specialty tool that can pressurize and de-pressurize the hydraulic bushings. Supposedly the tool is on backorder and most of them are falling apart because of their age. He said some of the shops and even dealerships will tell people and charge them to service the KDSS when they can't. He said there is a half ass way you can do it with the tool broken or something like that but you don't want that he said. It's something to look into if you plan on keeping your GX a long time. I know you live on the west coast and probably have a bigger selection of dealers and shops than we do where I live. I do trust Spirit Lexus in St. Louis where I bring my GX though so I will be giving them a call this week to see if they have a proper working tool to properly and correctly service this system. The only place in the midwest where I am at the can "forsure" service it is a specialty shop in Minneapolis, MN apparently. It's a 7-8 drive but me and my girlfriend actually love that city at least in the winter when we went. I may have to make a trip out of it. We love Chicago too and they have some of the best retail shopping in the entire midwest. When I recently went up there though she didn't go with because it was just for that appt. It's not even located downtown and is about a half hour south of. He test drove my GX for about 20 minutes and then he had me look under the truck with him for about 40 minutes so I was only there a little over an hour then I headed back home.
The Car Care Nut does not have the tools to service the Toyota/Lexus??? No waaaaay. Just kidding dude. I have the base model and would prefer it over all the other trims personally. My KDSS hasn't gone out yet otherwise i would tackle the bushing job. As far at the seat risers? Some people swear up and down they work and they really do. The only reason your pain went away is because the pain happens during the long trips. They go away after you exit the vehicle for a bit. So i would keep them installed if you know u are going to do trips longer than an hour or 2 often. They are proven to work. I took mine out because the spacers were only used to shoot the video. I really need the $100 in my wallet.
Bob, my question is if this affects your lower back? I hate the back angle of the seat also. It pushes you forward at your shoulder blades..even with lumbar pushed out and a back cushion (which helps slightly). These are the worst seats. Our LX570 seats are night and day better and not the same angle.
I've seen this product and wondered if it actually works. I'm 6' tall and my lower back is killing me after and hour of driving, and I'm constantly adjusting the seat. I don't understand the difference between raising the front of the seat with the power adjust and installing a spacer which also raises the front of the seat.
i raised the front seat portion to the maximum and it did nothing. After the spacer in addition to the raising of the front seat, i am currently sitting on a bed of clouds.
@@JasonSmith-pc6kr Check the body of my description as i have 2 options for you. The Made in USA for $99 and the Made in China for $15. I tested the one from USA and it works wonderfully. I just ordered the one from China to compare. Will be coming soon.

The stealth led light is a godsend. Love it. The autostart....maybe not so much. Autostart works off your keyfob (if you bought the piggyback style). Your keyfob doesn't have the greatest reception range since its purpose is to lock/unlock your door near your truck. Autostart 's main purpose is to start your truck in the comfort of your own home if its raining/snowing/summerheat. Unless your truck is parked directly outside your living room window. If you buy aftermarket autostart that is entirely separate from your OEM system (separate remote control), then at least it has an external antenna on your windshield.
@@GXBOB thanks for the wisdom Sensei, ill put that autostart on autostop. Looking forward to that light bar, also gonna pick up that racing badge, might go with colorful one.
Bob, I believe the newer GXs can be started via an app now as well as the remote. Needless to say the app works great, no LOS necessary can be started from anywhere, 1K miles away, etc.
Oh, I thought this was about the GX460. Apparently it's about the importance of wearing layers of clothes and how to peel them off the proper way, one at a time !
I have no way of knowing as i have never played around with a newer model GX. But lets say it did fit, I would not feel confident that the electrical system, including the computer, would be the same and would require switching out too. I can be wrong but i would love to tear one apart to see if all the connections behind it are the same. Then i would check the dimensions and brackets to see if they are the same or can be modified. It would actually be a fun project if you had the time and money to spare.
raising all 4 defeats the entire purpose of shifting your pinch point to a different area that can better support your load. The key is to change the angle and not the height.
@@GXBOB I understand, but as for me, the legroom is the issue.. I saw that when I lower the seat and move it back, I sit too low.. if I raise the seat I moved forwardand there is less room for legs.. Anyways I have ordered for front and rear.. I will try.. In general after I sit in gx after Camry or lx600, it is quite uncomfortable to sit in gx.. I hope jackers help
Next you should be looking for extend my seat for more leg room produt. What is ExtendMySeat? ExtendMySeat is a revolutionary automotive product that gives drivers an additional 3-6 inches of legroom. This is especially convenient for tall drivers who are often cramped with the typical amount of legroom in their vehicles.
So i also researched this a while ago for another vehicle and have mixed feelings. Common sense seems to suggest you want to lower your knees, not raise them. Obviously if you raised them to the steering wheel, you'd be sitting in a v position that would pinch you ridiculously. If you lower your knees 90 degrees to your back, then you're sitting a perfect 90 degrees like a herman miller chair or an old school wooden chair at the dinner table... On the other hand, if you are stuck with the knees at an angle due to seat ergonomics and there is no support under the thigh, then I guess this makes sense...?
It’s where the load is on your stress points. If you’re tall then sitting at a right angle is impossible. Your thighs would naturally be lifted leaving a gap between your thighs and the bottom of your seat. Now you’re putting all the load on your butt and spine. Lifting the seats would make the seats make contact with your thighs do that the load is now on your thighs.
GX*BOB I noticed your right leg with the seat back was close to the dash. Which is why I asked. I'm 6'4 with long legs and struggle to find anything other a truck that fits me comfortably.
Unfortunately, this type of mod creates a safety risk. The manufacturer designs the seat height with the SRS system and crash protection in mind. It may not seem like a small adjustment can cause a problem, but it can. In addition, insurance could be a problem in an accident.
Andrew Andrew Andrew......no matter how the seat was designed, people use the seat in quite a few positions. All of us are short, tall, fat, skinny, long legs, short legs, etc...No matter what position we move our seat to, the airbag will pop in the same exact angle it was intended. The seat spacers do not move your head or body height at all. The one inch it inclines your thighs will not tilt your head 180 degrees out of the airbag trajectory. If you are really making this argument, then you really have to take down the entire offroad and overlanding community by asking them to put back their stock bumper since it will have an effect on the front collision to deploy the airbag. You will have to tell the entire community to not lift their vehicles since it the sensors won't make contact with the vehicle in front and in back to deploy the airbags... Andrew... the argument is baseless...
@@GXBOB You’d think that raising the front a bit wouldn’t do anything, you’d be mistaken. When you adjust the seat with the power controls, this is fine because the adjustment is within safety limits. But when you physically raise or lower a certain part of the seat, it is dangerous. Are you a technician trained in airbag and crash safety precautions like I am? If not then you have no basis to claim that these poorly designed aftermarket modifications are safe. Lexus has designed that seat height for a reason. I’m tall and have managed to find a comfortable position in my GX. And as far as your stupid point about the off road mods, that is a whole different situation. People who add heavy duty bumpers and lift kits know what they are getting into. People who install these seat jackers have no idea that it may create a safety hazard.
There are a few places that have it cheaper, but since this is a critical safety item and i transport small children, i went with the original made in USA one. Personal preference since its not a $1000 item vs. something i can afford. But i did go ahead and ordered it to make the comparison since the description of it was pretty solid. I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks Kolia!
I finally did this modification and holy crap it makes a huge difference. Thanks Bob!

Lexus must have revised the seating because my ‘23 is no problem and I’m 6’2”, but I also sit further back which would drop my thighs down I guess.

You had me laughing like an idiot at work … so many layers! 🤣 I thought it would never end!
You watch UA-cam at work??? Where do i apply???
I’m 6’4 and I got my GX 460 on 7/22/23 and it took my drive from Bakersfield to Los Angeles to realize just how needed this mod is. Good looking out.
How do you 69 a significant other being 6’4 when the average woman height is 5’2 in the states.
@@GXBOB pick up, flip & commence the chow down
I've seen this product and wondered if it actually works.
@@GXBOB I may have to try it, love my GX but hate the seats.
@@JasonSmith-pc6kr Check the body of my description as i have 2 options for you. The Made in USA for $99 and the Made in China for $15. I tested the one from USA and it works wonderfully. I just ordered the one from China to compare. Will be coming soon.
@@GXBOB 'Sky-Attic' Nerves.....Too Funny!!! Good one!!!
I look forward to your comparison Bob. Thanks again! As soon as we receive the new GX, I’m going to do some of your brilliant mods.
Bob I am waiting for a 2022 because of the updated infotainment screen and Apple CarPlay. I have a friend at a dealership who’s waiting until March to order the one we want at a better price. We’re in no rush, the lease on my Armada does t run out tu tul 7/23. I think I’ll replace the Armada with the new LX 600 fSport model in black of course….LOL
DAYAAAAAAAMMMMMM. I'm jealous.
Hahahaha, don’t be it’s just a car….LOL
@@enriquecarrillo3909 YOu did not just say its just a car. I know people, including myself, that have costed our marriages for the love of this truck.
You’re funny Bob. I do look forward to taking possession of the GX next year and I do intend to replace some of those incandescent lights with LEDs.
I subscribed at EXACTLY 2:51 time stamp. 😂 😎👍
Forgive me Father for i have sinned. I've used the word retard loosely and at a minimum of 5 times a day. If you send me to hell, please i ask one last request and send me with 9 virgins.
Kool product
this is something i badly need because i drive a lot.
Good investment for any 4Runner, FJ, GX or Taco owner.
Totally, it did advertise for other Toyota models too but since this is a GX channel, i didn't want to kill the vibe.
If it makes a difference, ill try it. Next project is your stealth light bar and thinking about auto start.
@@enriquecarrillo3909 Thats awesome! I'll look into it. Thanks.
@@michaelmika2568 Good idea, pick a different color one. lol.

i'm going to hell for that comment.
Oh, I thought this was about the GX460. Apparently it's about the importance of wearing layers of clothes and how to peel them off the proper way, one at a time !
I watched this again and damn I’m fat.
Hey GX*BOB do you think the new 2022 model dash/screen will fit on the 2014/2020? Love the Chanel! Thx
@@JCE3000GT what drug are you on??? And why are you not sharing whatever it is???
Have you taken any long trips since the install? Would love an update regarding the effectiveness of this product.
Heading to Lake Arrowhead this weekend.
I think your knees still look too high in relation to your waist. Getting them lower might help you out some.
oh no.....i'm sitting on a bed of clouds right now. The real test will be this weekend. I'm going to hit Arrowhead Lake.
So Bob, how would rate these? Has it made a difference in comfort? Thanks-Mike
They’re actually pretty good once you get used to it. The initial settling in took me some time to adjust to not using certain muscles anymore.
Dude, you shouldn’t need a breaker bar with YOUR cannons!
Awwww thanks. Size does matter.
@@GXBOB
It sorta looks more like a booster seat…
@@edfairley8347 it might as well be, i can see the city from up here.
Did you raise only front side of the seat? Don't you need to raise all 4 spots of the seat?
raising all 4 defeats the entire purpose of shifting your pinch point to a different area that can better support your load.
Joe. This is a GX. Not a mini-Lexus station wagon CT. There are no options for the GX460 on that site.
Wow, nice
Bob how tall are you? I don't recall you mentioning it in the video.
I'm 5'11 barefoot. 6'2" when i'm wearing platforms
GX*BOB I noticed your right leg with the seat back was close to the dash. Which is why I asked. I'm 6'4 with long legs and struggle to find anything other a truck that fits me comfortably.
Anyone try these in the 2nd row seats? Wonder if they interfere with folding down the seats etc. Thx
Hey have you thought of serpentine belt?
of course! Just haven't looked into it yet.
OMG BOB you are a riot
I"m not sure how you got that impression from a video on promoting products for nonmidgets.

@@lacostamontana3019 Here you go: images.app.goo.gl/wtnt2W6ZahknYxUT9
I'm about 5'11 and the driver seat is seriously uncomfortable, this is the major factor for me not to buy the gx.
Your height will be the major factor not to buy any vehicle because they’re designed for the average populace. Only aftermarket mods will help you.

This mod is unnecessary and a waste of money. You can get the exact same result by just always driving uphill.
It's true when they say a genius is born every minute.
I'm curious how "tall" you are. You don't look more than about 5'9'' here on the UA-cam.

Why do i feel like you have something to do with Black Rock???

6'5" is tall, 5'10"...not so
much. Good video
5'10" in the asian community is a giant.
Good idea BOB . Alli Express got it for 15$
There are a few places that have it cheaper, but since this is a critical safety item and i transport small children, i went with the original made in USA one. Personal preference since its not a $1000 item vs. something i can afford. But i did go ahead and ordered it to make the comparison since the description of it was pretty solid. I'll just have to wait and see. Thanks Kolia!
