Dude Sir, why are you being so awesome? Stop being awesome. Helping people like me got no time for forums, and the likes, you’re the one stop GX guru with extra humor here and there. ❤❤
Thanks for the kind comment Mrwonson, i agree with you about the forums and write ups since i'm a visual learner. I have so many vids in production right now that will probably take me out to 2025. Again, thanks for tuning in and hopefully you'll find one that will hurt your feelings because thats my goal.
I have been dealing with this on a 2005 GX470 with failed SAI system faults for years. Dealer said nothing about a recall and I didn’t want to pay the $3k. Bought a cheap ODB computer to reset the faults every so often. A third party computer bypass doesn’t offer permanent results. Glad I came across this video. Such a simple solution. Shocked Toyota would make such a simple to avoid design error.
Wow. I had no idea. Thanks for this video Bob. I cleaned the Throttle body on my GX460 last weekend and now I know what I’m doing this weekend. Getting this filter installed ASAP.
I did this MOD last week after watching this video. I used the K&N filter since I live in Vancouver B.C. Canada and the price for each filter was 1 dollar difference so I went with the K&N. I want to mention the K&N filter fits but it is tight. When finished it will be sitting against the side of the power steering fluid reservoir. Should be okay since the top of the filter is rubber and soft. You may have to squeeze and push things to get the cap on correctly with the K&N, but it does work. Thanks again ! Your videos are so helpful and appreciated! I share them with all my fellow GX owners locally or I recommend they subscribe.
Ugh... Stewart. Please note that all my shitty Canada comments were prior to realizing I had Canadian viewers. My ignorance finally accepted that our neighbors from the North have internet. I promise no more shitty Canada comments. Thank you for watching.
I think you bought the 2.375” height one. K&N makes a 1.5” height one that may have worked better. Here if the link: K&N Vent Air Filter/ Breather: High Performance, Premium, Washable, Replacement Engine Filter: Flange Diameter: 1 In, Filter Height: 1.5 In, Flange Length: 0.625 In, Shape: Breather, 62-1370 , Black www.amazon.com/dp/B00029WXTA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_XM0EE2J3EMZWT8YVK0E3
@@jimilianhernandez8074If you bought the correct size it would not touch the reservoir at all. There is actually a lot of play to move it in and out of the SAIS assembly. In the event that u did purchase one that was longer than usual, it would still not affect it since the top of the breather filter is made out of rubber/plastic. The reservoir would just act as a support. The breather is super lightweight and won't cause vibration scuffing.
Great mod & video!! BTW, I put the outer plastic cover back on after i drilled 6 evenly spaced 3/8 holes over the edge that covers the new filter. Thanx again for the video.
Great idea! Thanks for the tip. I put my black cover back on also but decided not to mess with it in order to pass visual inspection when i go in for a California smog check.
Did this mod today along with led interior and running boards. Looked like the previous owner changed out the foam filter, but I changed it out anyway. Thanks Bob for your Chanel
@@GXBOB Bob between my wife and I we had 5 Land Rovers, a few years back I got my wife a first generation RX then a second generation RX,I was the last hold out with mine. I said when it’s time for mine to go I will go with Lexus, a GX460 I’m glad I did, I will never go back to Land Rover. They can’t hold a candle to Lexus. 👌🥃🍸🍷🧨🔥
Already had mine fail back in 2018 on my 2012 premium. Luckily Lexus fixed it under the TSB for free but still fixed it with the foam. Just did this mod so it wouldn’t happen a second time. Thanks for all of your videos!
Hey dude.i forgot to tell you I made this mod several months ago and it was super easy. I try to avoid things that happened to others with cars. Especially when it causes a real pain in the arse!
There’s a few things you should consider since it’s creeping up to the 100k mark. EGR valve, PCV valve, transmission fluid, differential, transfer case, timing belt, and water pump. Fun stuff!
K&N makes two different size breathers. If the 3" one was too snug and rubbed up against the power steering reservoir, there is a 1.5" height one that fits just as well with a 1" diameter flange.
Great video Bob. Happened to my 07 Tundra. It has two of these. It also has a really neat computer that automatically puts the truck in a “limp mode.” so you can’t ignore the problem. I think the engine works fine if you can bypass this pollution item/device, but you also have to “trick” the computer into thinking everything it is still working. I didn’t want to use the bypass/computer trick kits though. Mine went into limp mode on a hill, and my engine light went on. This would be really dangerous if you were on a long uphill in the middle of nowhere with semi’s passing you at night. The Tundra will only go about 30mph in this limping uphill situation. Can’t believe Toyota is allowed to have a non-emergency system that does this to you while driving? My mechanic did a computer reset just to get me home until my parts arrived and the engine ran perfectly on the way home. It went back into limp again the next time I started it while I was on my way back to my mechanic again for the repair. I first went to the dealer for this “service” and they acted surprised like it almost never happens, then I read the recalls and forums telling how chronic the problem is. I complained to the dealer and Toyota Corporate for recall repair, but both said mine was well out of warranty at 90,000 miles because of age. $3000 from the dealer to replace the whole “system” only to maybe have the problem happening again. Local Japanese auto mechanic fixed it for $1200 with both new OEM pumps even though only one was bad. Will be checking your simple mod out on my 04 GX470. No problems yet at 170,000, but definitely worth $30 not to have this happen again. Is it the same part and easy fix for the 04 GX470? Another way to avoid the problem is to keep your car out of rainy wet climate…like Washington State where I live! Thanks again for your great video’s. Every Toyota owner should subscribe to your channel just for this video alone!
Hey Blankenship, thanks for comment. This has happened on both my 470 and 460. I was only able to do the mod on my 460 since it was out in the open and took as little as 15 minutes to do. I was able to drop off my 2008 GX470 back in the days at the dealership and they took care of the problem noting the recall was a popular item at the time (and it still is). The 470, from what i heard and read on the forums, is a lot more work involved as you have to start removing manifolds, etc...I planned to do a video for the 470 right before all these vehicle prices started to skyrocket. Because of that, i never was able to pick up a 470 to tinker around with as that was my original plan. Again, thanks for tuning in Blankenship and i will eventually get around to picking another 2008 up some time in the near future.
Love ALL your vids. I always learn something. Just 2 days ago I saw the one where you removed the rear left tail light. It was ULTRA helpful because I used that particular point of entry to run the fuel line ( used fuel line because it's super sturdy) to the rear differential breather. All the other videos were saying to cut a hole in the fuel compartment for access, which I did not want to do. Another one said to remove some panels under the car then find an access point under there to feed the tube and I was lazy and didn't feel like removing a ton of panels. Took off the light assembly zip tied the hose with the air breather and ran it straight down.
@@GXBOB Another thing I'm wondering. You do a ton of things but I haven't seen you install illuminated door sills. I think it's a cool mod, but when I have looked I haven't seen anyone do it on their GX. Also when I look for the parts it's unclear if maybe the luxury trims have them and if they would actually plug and play into my Blackline edition. You also frequently say your next vehicle will also be a GX. So with that in mind what's your take on the soon to come GX 550? I'm sort of considering it, but it kills me that it won't have the V8, no KDSS, unless you go to the overtrail. Will the Adaptive Variable suspension be enough on the Luxury Plus? Would just love your take. At this point I'm thinking the Overtrail to get everything, but then no third row. I'm just all over the place on what I would pick.
Bob Thanks, your videos are clear, and informative, even funny sometimes, Ha.. I have a 2017 Gx460 and never looked under hood until I subscribed to your channel. Thank you.
Do newer GX's still have this issue or has it been rectified from the factory? Just purchased a new one last month and wonder if this mod would still be worth it?
@@GXBOB lol. It’s a year-old video. But yeah, I’m just catching up to all of your videos, to see what I need to do..lol. I won’t be doing the LED light bar though…too afraid to take off the grill etc.
I have a '22 I just got in April. I called the dealer about this and the tech told me he hadn't seen this in years. Me being me I had to open the unit and sure enough, it still had the foam. I decided to replace it. I got the K&N, they both measure the same. The fit was very tight against the PS reservoir. I cut the units rubber tube flush with the clamp and I was able to get it on Thanks
A 22? You got a long way to go before anything goes bad on your GX, but nonetheless, great job for finding a "fix" to make it work. Not all products and installs come out perfect. A little elbow grease and an hour on a beautiful saturday is all it takes to unwind. 👍
@@GXBOB I realize it doesn't happen over night but foam degradation is constant until it falls apart. So, why not replace while it is on my mind. And it is cheaper than a replacement pump
@@ejcheck I would like to think they changed the foam type. It is insane to keep using the same design all these years. That said, I get my 2023 next week, and just ordered the new filter.....
Just did this mod, as well as replacing the factory air is filter with K&N…easy peasy. On this mod, I did not put the original outer cover back on, as it would literally choke off the new filter’s ability to breath. You didn’t mention putting it back on, so I left it off.
Bob, if you go mudding or do river crossings, will the K&N type filter not suck up water inside the unit? Will it hold up in an environment like that? Looking for your opinion and thoughts. Thanks in advance
The good thing about this mod is it is super accessible (unlike the GX470) and can be switched out with only 1 screw. Before you go submerging half your car in a river, i'd go back to stock as a precaution. Bare in mind, if you look at your oem cap (the piece that your filter will replace, its also not water proof, only semi water resistant due to the inverted design of the opening.
@@daagdafireya you could run the hose through the firewall to the interior and pipe it to the bottom of the drivers seat so it could run on gx driver farts :)
@@GXBOB is it a big deal if the outer cover won't go back on? The filter will be more exposed to the elements and will probably get wet... Did you leave your cover off or does it fit with the breather filter installed?
I've looked into AGM batteries a year ago. I've taken some considerations into the length of time i own my GX, the cost, the advantages, and the disadvantages of buying one. If i were to get a new battery for overall value and performance i would stick with a Gel battery over traditional and AGM. Because, even though AGM is built to run and sustain a lot of your electrical toys on the GX, the advantages don't justify the cost in my opinion. My car is in southern California with perfect weather year round, i don't have a 5 amplifiers, 8 subwoofers, and a wheel chair lift equipped in my GX. My lower cost interstate battery upgraded from 24F to 27F with more CCA has a warranty if it should fail on me. I also have AAA. I DO NOT want to throw in random aftermarket diodes to accommodate a AGM battery voltage requirements into my car because some dudes "figured" it out. My batteries only purpose is to start the car and nothing else. Soooo......the AGM battery doesn't make sense to me but to each their own.
you mentioned 470. That is a different system and another issue in itself. YOur comments on a 460 are accurate and does get those with a 470 to look at the issue. The SAIS is basically under the manifold.
Thanks, bob -- I implemented this mod, straightforward with your instructions. I first tried the K&N filter 62-1410, but it's too long and interferes with the PS reservoir, perhaps delete the 62-1410 amazon link from the video description. Second try with the UNI UP-107 went well.
You're welcome Brandon, if you run into any issues while doing the mod, feel free to reach out to me. I come onto the comments section every day. Thanks for watching.
Great video, just the explanation I was looking for. My engine/dash lights on my '07 GX470 recently came on, I brought to Lexus dealer (Maplewood MN), they charged $210 for 4 minute plug-in "diagnostic" and decreed the secondary air injector pump and valves all need to be replaced, for $3200. My question: if the engine light is already on, is the injector already plugged/shot? Will just changing out the filter as you describe still help or do I now need to replace whole assembly? Thank you!
The reason your lights are on is because there is no more filter. Your filter is already disintegrated and was sucked up in your SAIS system. My mod is for preventative maintenance before the lights come on…not after. The good thing is you can pick up an SAIS on eBay and replace it yourself. www.ebay.com/itm/235436784129?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=GdLsfWakTTS&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=37nDDIJTS6a&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Uncle Bob I assume you don't put the "two hand" plastic cover back on over the new K&N type filter? Seems like if you do it significantly would restrict air flow. Or is it important and should I drill 3/8 in holes in the filter area as another commentor mentioned?
QQ for you Bob. The pastic cover does not need to be installed after replacing the filter right. i tired and it did not fit. Just checking to make sure
@@GXBOB I've had it a little over a year, put about 20,000 miles on it, so far so good. My wife has a 2010 rx350 for about 6 years and now with 135,000 miles, and has been a great car, so I bought a Lexus.
Hey Bob. Enjoyed the video and the instructions, thank you. One question as I just finished this mod yesterday, do you put the black cover back on top hiding the filter? I see you mention that people in California should but I didn’t understand if you can drive with it on long term. Seems like it would cover half the filter with the foam glued underneath the cover.
You have to remember that prior to this mod, it wasn't an open-air system. Your Pump had a small dome cap that only had small slots allowing air to enter. Now, with this mod, if you add the black housing back on, your Uni filter is exposed to the entire bottom half with is much more than the amount of air the original cap was allowed in. So whether you install the black housing back on or not for the long term isn't really detrimental to its function. You can do what some folks did by drilling air holes into the black housing to allow more air in or just leave it off. In California, we have to undergo a visual inspection for emissions to renew our registration so that housing needs to remain "oem", hence why i left it alone.
Many thanks on how to do this! I did this last weekend but I'm wondering if that whine you hear on the cold start is normal?? I'm getting mixed answers on the forums. Some say it's normal and some say that it means it's going to fail in the future.....Should I just do the bypass altogether or is that noise truly normal. On my BMW that sound did indeed get louder before it failed. Mine isn't getting louder but I just don't ever want my truck to go in limp mode or get straned somewhere.
The whine is due to the suction of the external filtration system which is normal. It means it’s working. Anytime you add a K&N type filter you’ll get that sound.
Hi Bob, just bought a 2012 gx 460. Few weeks after I bought it the check engine light and 4Lo came on. Also I have a track off message on the messages. The shop I bought it from has been fantastic and they have done everything in their power to make it right. The changed solenoids and changes a much of things. Lights went off and a month later all of them came back on. Saw this video and I tried looking into the secondary air filter but I can tell it has already been changed. Any recommendations on what to do next??? Thank you, love the Chanel.
Just remember to make sure the flange diameter is 1". If you are able to find a different type of clamp, it would be recommended. I hear people using this metal clamp tighten it too tight and it wears/chafes down the black plastic over time.
Hey Bob, thanks for the useful mod. Did you put back the plastic cover on top of the pump housing that was popped out first after you installed the new filter ?
I put it back on for a smog check. It requires you pass visual inspection. After it was done I take it off for optimal air flow. It adds another 180hp.
Great video Bob! Unfortunately, this just happened with my 2018 GX460. The service bulletin doesn't directly speak to this model year so I presume I'll have to pay for the fix and then do your mod to keep it from happening in the future. Live and learn.
To be clear, you had a failure because the foam filter disintegrated? Just asking because the foam type was supposed to be upgraded after the 2013 recall.
Bob, did you put the plastic cover back on the pump after installing the filter? I did and I was little concerned about the overlap it had with this filter. Any thoughts on air flow resistance?
great videos. question: is this mod CA smog compliant? I know usually anything visually inspected with smog components will get denied automatically. thanks in advance.
There is a large black plastic cover that goes over the entire assembly. The piece at the beginning of my video. When u go in for a smog check, make sure you put back that large plastic cover. It hides the filter element. completely. Also make sure you buy the filter that has the black housing and not the chrome one. The chrome one will stick out during inspection.
Hah, so I got all my tools ready and popped off the plastic engine cover. I was about to pop off the cover for the air injection pump and noticed it already has a Uni filter on it. So either the dealership put it on or the previous owner did.
@@NytronX Yes i placed the entire housing back on in order to pass smog visual inspection. The K&N type filter is cleanable with low pressure soapy water and air dryed.
All year GX470 and GX460 has this assembly, but just different locations. The 2010 and up should be relevant to my video. Right beside the power steering reservoir. You can't miss it.
Hey Bob! Love your videos. I took the one torque screw off but the housing is firmly stuck in place. Any tips? It’s below freezing outside but honestly I don’t think that’s the reason. I tried prying it with the flathead screwdriver but it won’t budge
I'm not sure if it's different on the earlier years, but my 2017, it was easier just to take the cap off with that one torx bolt and then just pop off that little nozzle cap on the end. Just in case somebody wants to preserve it
Hey Thorsky, i believe thats what i did. One torx on the top and the entire top half comes off. The plastic nozzle cap can be taken prior to or after the housing comes off. I did slap the nozzle cap end back on for smog checks.
I just came across your channel. I’m thinking of buying a used Gx 460 and have been watching several videos on this vehicle. Your video I have bookmarked (along with the part from Amazon). Question: did you replace the other filter next to this part in your GX?
@@GXBOB thank you sir, so it's only required for visual inspection? We don't have visual inspections in my state but they do connect the car to meters to get a report.
Hi Bob, super easy mod. My GX460 IS AT 46K miles but I went ahead and did it anyway. One clarifying question: do you advise putting the housing back on or go without the housing? It feels tight with the housing on and I wonder if this will stop the airflow? Would appreciate your suggestions!
@@ReformedEconomist I would put the housing back when you bring your truck in for smog check to pass the visual inspection. I would just leave it off after the smog checks.
Not sure how I missed this vid, thanks Bob! 👏🙏 By the way, are you going to do a radiator swap anytime soon? Considering replacing mine, small leak at top hose, replaced hose and noticed plastic brittle and a little craked. I think moisture coming from there even with new hose and cap. But I don’t want to go to the stealership to replace radiator and get ripped.
Did the mod plus cut back the top cover so it fits perfectly. The only thing is the foam filter on my 2016 looks and feels Like brand new. Zero signs of degradation. But! better safe than sorry.
I saw your video and replaced my 2nd air injection pump filter. I couldn't believe Lexus chose to use such material as the filter when I took it out. Huge thanks to your video and God bless your manhood.
Hi Bob. Your videos are great. You have great energy. I just bought a 2021 GX. Is this still an issue on the 2021 year? surely they had it sorted out by 2021? Just curious because I will do this once its out of warranty otherwise.
Great videos as always. This is a life saver. Will this fix the p2445 error on a 2014 gx 460. I disconnected the hose when changing the power steering fluid like us suggested in your video. But forgot to connect the hose back in my rush. After driving it for a while I got the check engine light on, the p2445 error and the car went limp-little power.
Appreciate the video for this mod. Unfortunately, the UNI filter is difficult to find/expensive these days. I ordered the K&N filter linked in the video comments, but it's too tall. It hits the power steering reservoir on my '15 GX460 preventing the SAIS housing from closing. Guess I'll look into one of the generic oiled filters that are shorter than the K&N.
the K&N breather elements do come in various dimensions. You might want to look at a shorter one with 1.5" filter height. The black housing doesn't need to be reinstalled except when u need to go in for a visual inspection smog check. Otherwise, leave it off.
@@GXBOB I meant the top half of the housing that screws back on (where the filter attaches), not the cover. The 62-1410 is ~2.4" tall and it's too big to be used as a SAIS filter. The 62-1370 is 1.5" tall and would probably work.
Mine inject filter was little bit big too but eventually fits but the top cover I’m not able to fit on it because of the filter size please let me know how is working on your gx. Thanks
Did you put that first black plastic cover taken off back on over the SAI? I just got done doing mine I put it back on not sure if that matters just didn't see it in end of video and was wondering if you left the new filter exposed
@@GXBOB ok gotcha!, you beat me to it! Because that was my next question was acceleration (I don't want to assume it's a placebo effect but after taking the GX around the block a couple times feels faster is that suppose to happen?) you answered it GX bob with advanced psychic A.I. abilities.
I should of hooked up my blue drive OBD2 find whatever in it monitors the vehicles conditions before and after the mod to see if numbers/factors change
Bought the filter and want to install but curious if this would void my 2yr CPO warranty. Install after? Others in forums say that the dealership put it in for free bc they knew about the problem. Thanks in advance!
Currently on amazon, the Uni filter is more expensive than the one in the second link. Turns out the cheaper filter is too long and won't fit in my gx. Just FYI so stick with the uni filter
Mines been having a limp mode issue, but I have no codes or dash lights! Took it to the dealer and they can’t figure out what it is. My year is a 2011 and has 150,000 miles on it. Sounds like this is the issue! I would hate to replace the part and find out that it wasn’t the problem. Kind of stuck. Hmm?
Hey Bob - I was towing today and when I accelerated on the on ramp, I threw the 4low trac off check engine trifecta. I also had this issue when I turned on my pedal commander when towing a boat. Could this mod prevent this in future? Also, I wanted to ask you what service I should do? I bought at 55k miles, at 97k now and have only done oil changes. Thanks my man! Much love from Florida
your lights popping on temporarily by hitting the gas pedal can mean anything...seriously. The mod is only preventative maintenance from your sais taking a dump in the future if it hasn't already. Your mileage is the same as mine right now and i'm about to replace all 4 rotors and brake pads. I was also thinking about replacing all 8 spark plugs too.
Hi Bob! First off all I watched all you Videos regarding GX. My next mod will be headlights + grill. Just did this update with the same component and exactly as you did in your video! Thank you so much, Bob. Quick question: now, after turning off my car (GX 2015), I can hear some strange high tone sound for a few seconds under the hood. It sounds like this pump is trying to suck the air through this filter with the force or maybe normally but this filter makes it. Do you have the same?
After switching out my engine air filter with a K&N, i also get the same air hiss. Same thing with the secondary pump filter. The difference in filter elements is what creates that sound. You also hear a little of the aftermath of the suction after the engine is off is the vacuum it created also coming to a dead stop. You’re going to notice a difference in performance as u would with any filter that allows more air into your system. If you want the sound to be less obvious, try putting the black plastic cover back on your secondary air pump assembly. I left mine off as shown in the video.
#1. I’m assuming what caused your stuck valve was a disintegrated internal pump assembly. #2. Buying both the sais and valve combo doesn’t make the purchase any cheaper than if u bought them individually. #3. The remove and replace is fairly easy. With that being said, i would first ask the dealer if they would honor this old recall on good faith since they know about this issue. If not, then i would switch out the valve and clean up the Sais out as much as possible and see if that’ll do the trick, then switch out the sais as a last resort.
Thank you!!! Any idea if this works for 2-2.5 gen Tundra’s? I know they have issues with this as well, but I’ve read folks bypass it with a Hewitt setup.
$20 versus $400. I don’t consider myself a genius but I’m going to pick the $20 one. Not only because of the price but because I’m keeping the Lexus oem design to function and do what its designed to do with only changing the filter material. If Lexus didn’t see the benefits in a secondary injection system they wouldn’t have engineered it into the trucks design.
The problem is that the rubber where the metal clamps will deteriorate from the heat of the engine. I had to replace it after 2 years. I ended up putting a thick grease around the rubber connection/clamps.
2 years out of a part less than $20 is amazing as it is. Thanks for the heads up. Most likely i will check on it every oil change to see if i need to replace it.
Just fining your videos. I purchased a 2016 GX with 72,000 in feb. my pump went out in my tundra few years ago so ill take this mod very seriously. i do have another question for you though. when i push the brake pedal down i hear some air/vacuum noise. it only happens with the initial movement down, no noise when releasing the brake pedal. is this just how the brake booster sounds in this vehicle? Thanks!
If you stick your head under your dash and depress the brake pedal, you’ll notice the squishy sound is the actuator linkage for your brakes. I hate to say it’s normal but I’ve lived with it on all my GXs. Don’t go changing your brake booster, master cylinder, etc hoping it’ll go away. It won’t.

The reservoir would just act as a support. The breather is super lightweight and won't cause vibration scuffing.
Bob for President - Dude has our back.
unless the other person is holding a weapon, then i'm running first.
We have never knew anything about this issue so now i will check my tacoma and possibly on a use gx460 planning to buy.

Hey dude.i forgot to tell you I made this mod several months ago and it was super easy. I try to avoid things that happened to others with cars. Especially when it causes a real pain in the arse!
Did you have any issues with fitment? or rubbing against the power steering reservoir?
@@GXBOB
No. Not at all. Perfect fit with no modifications other than what you did.
Looks like you stripped the bolt by overtightening it. Thank you for the video and the links. Much appreciated.
I had this issue in my 2011 GX and Lexus replaced for free as a curtesy. I now have a 2018 and imagine it will happen again. This is awesome! Thanks
Any time! Cheers.
We just picked up at 2012 GX with 90k on it. Will be doing this ASAP! Thanks Bob.
There’s a few things you should consider since it’s creeping up to the 100k mark. EGR valve, PCV valve, transmission fluid, differential, transfer case, timing belt, and water pump. Fun stuff!
I have 34,000 on my 2016 I am considering it, does Lexus sell the air filter
Timing belt?
I added a 3" outerwears pre filter to prevent clogs too.
My friend has a gen 1 tundra and went through some issues relating to not starting and limp mode so i will tell him about this issue.

Interesting……,
@@GXBOB Another thing I'm wondering.
I gotta give it to you BoB, Thanks for the info & you got me doing some of your mods on mine. Keep em' coming.

I decided to replace it. I got the K&N, they both measure the same.
The fit was very tight against the PS reservoir.
I cut the units rubber tube flush with the clamp and I was able to get it on

A 22? You got a long way to go before anything goes bad on your GX, but nonetheless, great job for finding a "fix" to make it work. Not all products and installs come out perfect. A little elbow grease and an hour on a beautiful saturday is all it takes to unwind. 👍

Thanks for posting Bob. Excellent vid as Always. Wondering what's your opinion...thoughts on a AGM battery for the GX.
@@GXBOB Thanks GXBob. Great...info and insights. Super helpful as usual.

Thanks Scott. I'm only supporting another person's modification.
you mentioned 470.
Thanks, i just deleted it. 👍

Uncle Bob I assume you don't put the "two hand" plastic cover back on over the new K&N type filter? Seems like if you do it significantly would restrict air flow. Or is it important and should I drill 3/8 in holes in the filter area as another commentor mentioned?

@@Moondoggy1941 hahaha
Thanks again for saving us thousands of $$$. Just ordered the filter and will do the mod shortly.

Thanks for the video....just found out about this....is it safe to use k&n red spray and wash n clean out the stuck dirt
Yes it’s ok to use it but i feel is a waste of money. Simple running water and air dry is fine
Thanks so much again for advice, I just took a ride and everything seems great! No odd sound or anything like that. 👍👍👍
Hi Bob, my sais switching valve stuck open. Should I order both sais and the valve? Or the vale only? Thank you very much brother!!
Here is also a good read before you head to the dealer:

@@GXBOB thank you very much BOB!! I really appreciate it
Thank you!!!
@@GXBOB love it! Just ordered one for my Gx460!
It won’t.
Thanks for the response. I can live with it lol
Bob, did you leave the cover off ? Is it not necessary now ? Good idea
I only put the cover back on when doing a smog check inspection
I might have missed it, but will this 1in opening filter fit on the 470?
