i can not even imagine how difficult it would be to drive a car that powerful on a difficult course at that speed,
in bad weather and fog.
mind boggling
Live to Race Another Day!
Damn that was sketchy - the man is truly Mad! Brave and skilful - but still mad - hats off to Randy!
Randy’s openness and honesty is reassuring humorous and entertaining!
I've worked with Randy (in video production). He's one of the most genuine, humble, and unbelievably talented drivers I've ever worked with. Tough luck on this year's hill climb!
Happy birthday Randy, if you can't see, it's not the day. Very fast when you can.
Great you made it!
was watching from devil's playground and was impressed by the efforts of all drivers in these conditions. thanks for the high five, you did awesome randy.
Makes me pucker just watching - great driving in such horrific conditions 👍
Wow, incredible conditions at the top, combined with the windshield fogging up.
RainX.
really bad conditions this YEAR ! Randy kicked ass still ! One of the nicest chillest people you will EVER MEET
Tough seeing Randy struggle with that windshield.
Wow, like being a blind driver, you brought it home in one piece to race another day. I think that was the smart thing to do.
Milimeter radar can see Through rain/fog.
so sad to see that windshield fogging, idk how i feel about loosening the straps to wipe the windshield but then again i don't have the balls to race pikes peak either. better luck next year and happy birthday!
Holy jesus, those conditions were atrocious! That was a respectable performance and nothing to be embarrassed about, all things considered. I think I would have shit myself and been screaming "Slow the eff down!!!" had I been a passenger. That's a race in which a mistake can very easily get you killed. The road should be fixed where the bumps are a hazard to the drivers' safety and they might want to consider having the race later in the year when the weather might be more conducive to this type of activity.
Happy Birthday Randy! See you next year!
Wow! Very impressive lower section and incredible skill (and confidence) to pull off the upper section being severely vision compromised.
Last time I was on that mountain the road was gravel, with zero guardrails. When the trees disappeared, it was one long anxiety-fest to the top!
You put it perfectly, wrong tire choice, fog and fog. You're the best, stay safe!
Love ya Randy, next time.
Scary‼️need AA serious defogger in there.👍🏽👍🏽
Terrifying! We need a FSD Non-Beta Plaid to learn the limits of what can be done. Maybe in two years the FSD team could help. Good job Randy. I couldn't do it.
I feel your pain there Randy. That was a painfully slow run compared to what that car is more than capable of doing. Hopefully next year you will get some decent weather and get a sub 9 min run.
What a bummer. I was routing for Randy.
Rooting ;). There's only one route up the mountain .
Painful to watch. Really good that you handled the pressure, didn't crash the car and can race another day.
The old Tesla Interface had a defroster button right on the main screen, one simple click. Tesla recently "improved" the interface and now the defroster button is hidden in a submenu. Might have made a difference on the track.
More recently it became possible to add the defroster manually back into the main screen.
Was thinking the same thing. Or add a smart button like S3XY programmable buttons. Certain car functions should be a simple knob or button - much more functional and easier (safer) to use at speed.

goddamn, Randy cannot get a break. those were very unfavorable conditions. i feel like the course should have been shortened. a damn shame considering it was the 100th race or something right? i wonder how matt farah and his bacon egg and cheeses were holding up
Was that center console screen frozen? I would have thought a GPS roadmap on there might have been helpful once the window started frosting over. Wow, scary ride.
At devils playground the car smelled like the brakes got hot from the lower section. Was the only car of the day that I could smell brakes.
Touch screen in a race car 🫣 Guess a windscreen defroster button is on the wish list for next year 🤣
Wonder if cracking a window it two would have helped?
Skilled veteran racer in new technology but conditions not right
That's a heart breaker considering how well they did earlier in the week. Who would of thought of that and been prepared? Just bad luck.
Yikes, that’s no condition even to race up there. They should’ve shortened it
holy shit that was scary near the top. perhaps should have opened a window. the fog is because the window is cold, and the warm air exhaled by Randy leaves the interior with too much water vapor.
Should of put some
Rain x anti fog on that windshield
That is all
Everything looked great until he couldn't see, then he may have thought the heck with it. My guess he wanted to live to fight another day. Having all those spectators on the side of the road while cars are flying by at 100+ is pretty sketchy to me😅
U maybe NEED a 220V Defroster, Randy, maybe Tesla 🤔 can INVENT ONE! 💡 💡
The EV noise is a bit creepy in the fog. Sounds like a horror movie
no problem. Autopilot will do the job and save some weight meanwhile🤪
Terrifying.
Yikes…no condition to race. Maybe they should gave shortened the race at top.
Sorry, but how can a car with air conditioning fog up its windscreen so bad?
They tell us those things have so much power, how could you decide that you don't want to lose 4 or 5 horsepower to be able to see where you are going?
Yikes. Weird gremlin. Wonder what a stock car would be like. Maybe they needed to create more passive air flow in the car rather than rely on stock A/C in a stripped car.
Bro could not see
the car to heavy for the rain
50 seconds slower than a stock 911 Turbo on street tires 🤣
Weighs 1500#+ more and it was on rain tires with the drivers visibility severely impaired. Impressive result no doubt. 😎
Fog.
Without fog, came in 2nd overall in qualifying/testing.
cant see cant drive
