I would like to thank you for that film, it helped me a lot, that tip of potentiometer, it wasn't so much clear on the manual, and with your explaination it was so much easier. Thank you very much!!!
Thank you sir. When the calibration is done, appears on the display (EXDWN) and i can't change it's mode to automatic. Do you have any idea about this issue ? Regards, Saif
What does it means during calibration as you mention we need to rotate the potentio meter wheel. What is the reason if that potentiometer wheel is not turning? I am facing this issue hence asking. Your valuable inputs are really appriciated. TIA
Your wheel may not turn if your positioner is damaged or if you’re not using enough force to turn the wheel. Please contact Siemens technical support at 1-800-333-7421 for specific questions.
When I install the new positioner to double acting actuator it goes straight away 100% and I can't close and initialize..also the + and - not operating...can anyone give suggestions please
So nice of you sir for the information. recently I have calibrated the same positioner on our Siemens gas turbine. Due to the position deviation. After I have done the calibration now it’s working normal. My question is why it has position deviation? And also elaborate the the frequency of calibration.
Typically, something changed mechanical for some reason. Could be a loose screw on his linkage, mechanical wear somewhere in the valve and or linkage. How often should he calibrate? Not unless he sees a deviation again because whatever is wearing, continues to wear. He could also use his diagnostics on the PS2 to tell him when he reached his error(deviation) limits and then he would know when to recalibrate. Or just do an annual recalibration. It's difficult to troubleshoot without knowing your configuration. Contact Siemens Technical Assistance Center at 800-333-7421 for help. They'll be able to work through the issue with you.
Our valve is roatary type and it is not responding at all in auto mode. Current input is ok. Also works in the auto mode. Can anyone some with a suggestion?? Can re-calibrarion fix the problem?
Relays are not repairable. You may need to purchase a new relay board. Call 800-333-7421 for help troubleshooting. Once the issue is confirmed, call your local Siemens rep if a replacement part is required.
The PS2 has speed control valves internal as a standard. On single acting there is one, and on double acting there are two. These valves can be used to restrict the air exhaust output, and therefore slowing down the speed at which the valve can close or open depending on how it is designed to act in a fail position event. The factory default is to have them completely open, for the fastest response. If for some reason you want to slow the stroke speed, adjust the screw to make this adjustment. Call Siemens at 1-800-333-7421 to speak with their technical support.
Very helpful video. Only issue I am running into now is when its in auto and modulating, the positioner indicates on the LCD screen an oFL code and the number 127.9, I'm not sure to how to resolve this issue.
Great Video. I am facing a problem regarding with my rotary actuator. The valve is opening and closing manually, but the potentiometer value doesn't change. Tried to do initialisation, confused with the parameters. So kindly post the parameters for a rotary actuator. Thanks in advance.
Hello Sir, Have a good day. I have recently facing problem in a newly buying Siemens PS2(2wire, 4-20ma, 2 wire, without HART) smart positioner connect with my existing Single acting, air to open linear actuator(pneumatic control valve) having 20mm stroke when I am going to newly calibation. During commissioning this new positioner with existing control valve/actuator in initial condition its display shows P 85 and NOINI mode, at that time when if i press (+) and (-) button then the actuator totally doesn’t not move.only small clicking sound hearing inside the positioner and little air Release from actuating pressure line(Y1) of positioner , however pneumatic(4kg air pressure) and electrical(4ma , 24VDc) connection is there. Interesting is if i place old existing positioner there then it easily move the actuator after pressing (+) and (- ) key in NOINI mode. Is there any problem of lever setting or restrictor setting there.i don’t change any restrictor setting in this newly buying positioner during commissioning there.i am confused if there any setting required in restrictor at positioner during newly commissioning? Anybody here who can advice me kindly please to fix this problem.
Absolutely brilliant video, I have identified my problem , my actuator was starting at 100% and therefore could not do the auto initialise. Can anyone say how to reverse the 100 to 0% using parameters 7 and 38. rise and FALL. when you have done' rise' or'fall' to reverse the action do you just go back to idle or do you initialise again?
Hi, Thank you for this video. It will be helpful If you guide us on the following point. When we remove Fieldbus signal cable - all control valves goes to closed position (fail close). => which is OK. When we reconnect Fieldbus signal cable - some control valve stay in same closed position (=> which is OK) where as few control valves slowly moving to open position which is not correct (=> in this case positioner set point automatically change to 100% while connecting signal cable; set point is not coming from DCS). We check positioner setting in both cases and unable to identify the reason for different action.

Great video, but I have a problem today ....... all ok, just, it works invert. 20mA = closed - 4mA is open (ballvalve valve - 90°) ? Who can help me. Many Thanks :-)
3.21 Reversing the Action There are two ways to invert the action and display, one requires re-initialization. No re-initialization procedure This procedure inverts the physical action and display of the positioner. ● Parameter "SDIR" reverses the physical action - From AUT or MAN mode, press button for 5 seconds.
