Also, did you notice that when they went into the first two pubs, they both looked the same because large corporations were buying up the small businesses and gentrifying them, which parallels what the aliens were trying to do with planets.
Hence, "Starbucking."
After two movies as the buffoon I love seeing Nick Frost play the responsible adult (at least for the first half)
My favorite of the trilogy❤ thx y'all!
The older i get the sadder this movie is 😢😂
True. I used to think it was the weakest of the trilogy by far but nowadays I absolutely love it. There's a real emotional core to it.
@@mysticsaxophone4181 same 😔☺️
Yeah, for that reason is why the in the pub fight when Gary said to Andy "twist the melon, man" and Gary and Andy's reaction after taking off the robot's head were like "hell yeah" and both went back to being for a little second the wild and young guys who once were, that part is amazing but also very very sad because of that feeling of can't being that young man who say and act like that again when you get older 💔
Eddie Marsan (Peter) is a brilliant actor 😊😊😊😊😊
Do try watching 'Paul' with Pegg & Frost - still has similar vibes
Such a great movie with some of my favorite actors
Simon Pegg also became a father while filming Paul
@@Darknessinside775 I wouldn't say trash but it certainly isn't anywhere near any of the Cornetto trilogy, not by a long shot.
@@secondchance6603The cornetto trilogy get you thinking, all the call backs and the fantastic writing! Paul is more of a shut your brain off and just enjoy the silliness type film.
I don’t think that make it’s trash, but it’s absolutely a more mindless film.
I still to this day say “motherfucking titty sucking two balled bitch” whenever I reload a magazine 😂
Not really, it's just weed jokes
People hate on this movie, but it's my favorite of the trilogy, Nick Frost just kills it as the serious one of the pair
10:40 Right, just call me Paddington, then.
This movie makes me want to pound beer and fight the Blue Man Group.
This is my favorite out of the 3 for me it goes the worlds end , shaun of the dead and then hot fuzz
In Hot Fuzz, you had Timothy Dalton (Skinner, the supermarket owner), who played James Bond (no.5). In this you have Pierce Brosnan (Mr. Shepherd) who played James Bond (no.6).
You guys should definitely do Paul and i peg and frost have been some old friends for when they were kids so they've made a lot of movies you guys should check them out
This is a homage to movies like 'Invasion of the Body Snatchers' and 'They Live'.
I'm sure it's been mentioned before but if you can find it, the British sitcom 'Spaced' is where Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost et al cut their teeth with movie parody/homage concept.
They got the choreographer, Brad Allen, from the Jackie Chan stunt team.
also Scott Pilgrim.
@niallrussell7184 didn't know that, but it makes sense given that Edgar Wright did both... he does like to work with the same people multiple times, which does make sense. Especially with a choreographer, knowing how each other works already can only be a benefit.
Rest in Peace Brad Allen...
9:03 It's a comment about all those nice family owned pubs all over the UK each having some unique character of its own now being put out of business and bought by large and just as generic, identical looking soulless franchises.
Yeah, as an American I was deeply disappointed when I spent a week in London last year. All the pubs even had the same _menu_
@TheGoIsWin21
Yeah, you really gotta get outside of London to find any decent pubs that are close enough to reach regularly, but also unique enough its worth going too more than once...
I think Hot Fuzz is funnier, but this one is deeper. It's a really thoughtful critique of so many aspects of modern society and our self-destructive impulses on the personal and societal level. Hot Fuzz is more "clever" and you appreciate the humor more and more on the rewatches. World's End becomes more meaningful on the rewatches, and the humor is tied to genuine emotion and life experiences.
Many thanks to Cameron and Isaiah! 🌐 Kudos to Edgar Wright once again.
Did you notice the characters all have monarchal names- King, Knightly, Prince, Page, Chamberlain?
There is honestly something magical about drinking with your mates in a field or a forest until the sun comes up.
I have a better idea. Hi!
The World Send? Well at least he didn't say UP Yours.
That's so funny, it's interesting to see your reaction at this time...fornthose of us who csme up watching Shaun of the Dead as it came out, it was a revelation of awesome and it reignited the zombie genre. So we have an entirely different perspective. ❤️👍🎬
Loved this trilogy. And the “PAUL” is the icing on the cake…
24:51. Blue light special
Other Pegg films you need to watch
Paul
Absolutely Anything
Run Fat Boy Run
Robot means slave. We are all robots...
You guys are great. Love watching the reaction vids. Keep it up!
Paul is really similar to these movies. You should put that on your list it's funny.
Oh crapbaskets. John Travolta in 'Face Off' is a Blank! Always with the face palming! Everyone run!!!
As far as Edgar Wright movies and extraterrestrials go, I highly recommend Attack the Block if you guys haven't seen it. Amazing score, top not h cinematography and brilliant creature design.
hey guys, another great reaction. been subscribed since around 5k and plan to stick around. would love to see you guys react to two other british movies--FAQ about Time Travel and Cockneys vs Zombies. both very funny and think yall would enjoy. keep up the great work and i'll catch yall on the next post.
❤ from Texas
These guys are brilliant writing movies they got to star in movies with 2 James Bond actors! And Viallians from some of their favorite Bond, Star Wars, Indian Jones movies! Talk about dying happy! ❤️🎬
Great reaction, thanks. This is definitely my fave of the 3. (I couldn't even get through SOTD because I can't handle gore and zombies! Which is annoying as I love the Simon and Nick combo.) There's not a line or moment wasted in this film imo. And also sadder on rewatching when you realise why Gary is so desperate to finish the Golden Mile, as in it's the last thing he's ever going to do. Hits so hard. Subscribing!
U two watched Paul yet ? It's absolutely hilarious u will ❤ it.
Heck yeah! Definitely should react to it! Hilarious!
Hello Cam & Zay!😊 This may be the final film in the Cornetto Trilogy starring Nick Frost & Simom Pegg, but it is not their final Sci-fi/Comedy starring film. That would be "Paul" (2011).😉 Bill Nighy is the voice of The Network.
I personally prefer Hot Fuzz. I think 'Shaun' and 'Fuzz' telegraphed where they were going earlier, whereas in this one, apart from the ambiguous title, there is little too warn you until the first appearance of the blanks. Another reason some people find this one trickier to get into, is that Shaun and Fuzz play with better-known tropes than this one,
This isn't as good as the other 2 in the trilogy...but it's still very enjoyable 🎩
IMO
#1 Hot Fuzz
#2 Shaun of the Dead
#3 The World's End
I always hope, given the concept of multiverses, they could take a leaf out of Marvels book and have all the protagonist characters meeting one another in another world 🌎.
Like Shaun of the Deads - Shaun and undead Ed, Hot Fuzz - Nicholas Angel and Danny Butterman, along with this films - Gary King and Andy Knightly all meet up and have to fight against their version of Thanos. With the same list of actors that appear in all of their films. Could even go as far as, they've had Dalton and Brosnan, Daniel Craig might be game.
Just a thought. Perhaps set in a different time or future earth.
Hey you two!!! 🙂 love this film!!! Lets goooo!
I do not know if you have but you need to watch "Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1979). All the best.
I think instead of using sets they just used real pubs. That's what they did in Hot Fuzz.
DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS!!
Im so glad I took a gummy just a few minutes ago. Now tonight just got much MUUUUUUUUCCCCHHH better. Hangin' with tha booyyyzzzzzzz.
Im suprised you guys havent seen "The Inbetweeners"
I don't like this move and probably never will but I enjoyed your reaction to it. I prefer Paul to this, would rather put that as the third cornetto trilogy movie instead.
Please do PAUL.
Zays pun... I think you need to go sit in the corner and think about what you did young man
This movie is for actual adults. You will very likely not get it fully if you're under 30.
32:14 The names of all the pubs correspond to what is happening in the story.
i watched this film when it first came out and thought it was okay, but i rewatched it last year and it definitely hit way harder. maybe because i’m older and-while not being as much of a mess as gary-i can relate more to the nostalgia for the good old days and trying to hold on to the time in your life you perceive as being your best and happiest. the choice to make nick frost the straight man is also great, he gets to flex his acting chops and i think he was fantastic! loved the rest of the ensemble too, and the choreography is excellent
I feel like reactors miss the point of the scene at the Worlds End. This whole movie is ultimately an anti addiction film. The robots dont matter. The more important consequence is Andy trying to get Gary to admit his drinking problem. Having him drink the final drink would just enable him. And between his suicidal tendencies propel him down a path of self harm and destruction.
Pierce Brosnan's role parallels Leonard Nimoy's role in invasion of the body snatchers.
You guys absolutely need to watch 'TRAINSPOTTING' if you haven't yet. Best thing to come out of Britain in the last 30 yrs. Also add '4 LIONS' to the list.
Regarding the pubs, the second one is called 'The Old Familiar' because it's identical to the first pub, 'The First Post'.
You guys should do Paul it’s my favorite movie they have done
As you said, all comments are good for the algorithms, so I'll say: These opening puns have gotta be killing your subscription rate! You're driving em away in droves! Good Lawd, men!
the ;policemans eye look alien lol how did I never notice this before, I've watch this that many times lol 7:28
During the Shaun of the dead reaction Cam said he thinks he had seen The Worlds End as a kid but can't remember much except he thought it was the weakest he had seen... or something like that. I remember commenting at the time along the lines of, If you seen it only once as a kid he had most likely missed some of the darker sub plot. Can't believe he had not even got as far as the Blanks!!! the darker underbelly I was referring to was the fact it was not an Alcoholics meeting he was attending, it was a "sudoku" meeting he was at. Gary King is by far the most complex character Simon Pegg plays in the trilogy.
That pun was good.
At first, I thought Zay was doing the FedEX UPS joke.
"Did you hear FedEX and UPS are merging?"
"No"
"They're going to call it FedUP!"
😂
This movie was great! I've never seen this one! In my opinion, this was better than the Fuzzball one!
Just found your UA-cam and watched your reaction to Tombstone. I can tell you guys like “bad ass” characters and stories. Watch 300 and Troy with Brad Pitt. You will recognize MANY faces in that movie. You’ll get TONS of views. The Last Kingdom on Netflix is one of my all time favorite shows. Black Sails is amazing but really bloody. Actually all the one I’ve mentioned here are very violent and bloody. The BLADE movies with Wesley Snipes were fantastic too.
This is my favorite of the trilogy. Followed by Shawn and then Hotfuzz. Hot take i know but all three are still in my top 25 favorites.
Excellent movie.
Have you seen Paul?
💞 P r o m o S M
Best of the trilogy for me , Gary Kings character has so much depth and the tragedy of him unfolds in such a clever way. The ensemble cast do a brilliant job creating the group of friends meeting up after years apart.
For me this was the weakest of the three I rank them
1 hot fuzz
2 Shaun of the day
3 worlds end
Nice one guys.
You have to do Paul, It's the best out of all 4.
I hate this stupid movie, it's shit.
This movie is a mess. It can't figure out what kind of a movie it wants to be. It starts out being a naughty dark comedy about a guy with a serious drinking problem who knows that he's probably dying because he cannot stop drinking, and who wants to revisit the glory days with his old friends, who have all moved on to adulthood without him. Then it suddenly pivots to a science fiction conspiracy action movie with exciting fight scenes where the aliens are robots whose heads pop off in an explosion of blue goo. Okay... sure. Then the aliens give up trying to take over Earth because the humans are too stubborn or too stupid to give up drinking and can't be reasoned with... or something. Then, instead of anything like a happy ending, we get the end of civilization because all electricity use stops forever and the world is plunged into darkness. No lights, no computers, no phones, no electric heating, no refrigeration, no microwave ovens, no television. Imagine how many people would starve or freeze to death in the short term. Imagine being suddenly unable to communicate with anyone not right in front of you, not having any idea what's going on in the world. I'm not saying you have to have a happy ending. I'm saying... WTF?? It's like they had two ideas for two totally different movies and crashed them together. It's terrible.
youtube.com/@a35362 So... you've never watched an Edgar Wright film before - or *_ANY_* piece of fiction ever. This movie, if you actually _watch_ the thing, isn't about being replaced by robots during an alien invasion. Nor is it about an unfinished pub crawl from the youth of our characters. It's about a man who has hit absolute bottom, and is trying to find one last moment of happiness before he follows up his first attempt to kill himself (hence it opening with him in a hospital therapy session, *_NOT_* AA - he's still wearing the medical tag throughout the film). The gathering of the old crew, the second attempt at the Golden Mile, the concept of a homogeneous force turning everyone into 'perfect' citizens while stamping out individuality - all point to the main theme of the movie. Freedom is a strength and a weakness, and a very human thing to struggle with. Taking it away makes us less than human, even if it would stop us making mistakes. Not everything is literal. Learn some film literacy before you go showing your ignorance.
