My DesertX was delivered around 2 weeks ago, already have 700 miles on it. Going in for first service next week. Got the full race exhaust w/EVO tune, accessories mount w/Ducati branded Garmin GPS, bar bag, and touring windscreen. Pulled the rear foot pegs and mounting frames off. Weights only 478 lbs with a full tank.
Watched your first ride and other video of the MT-09 tracer GT and did my own research and went with it. Actually got it from the Roswell location and picking it up this coming Wednesday.
As an owner of a Monster 1100 EVO looking to add a new bike to the stable im torn in between the current Ducati Lineup. I love the look of the Desert X, I mean how often do we get an Italian rally-inspired bike? But I also am considering a multistrada for those long rides up the California coast with the misses. And on the last end of the spectrum I am considering the Streetfigther V4S as I could finally upgrade my sports bike and start seeing track days again. Decisions decisions. Too bad I don’t have $80k for all 3 😂
I'm eyeing a MSV2S to go with my S1KRR. It's basically a big super moto with factory hard bags and most of the tech of the V4 without the radar cruise control. I think it's the best use case for the 937cc L twin ducati puts in a bunch of bikes.
I don't get why he keeps saying it's a 500lb motorcycle...many in this power category are. For perspective, this Ducati weighs less than the Sportster S. About 15 lbs of its weight difference to most bikes is down to the extra fuel it carries. Put in the same amount of fuel as a Z900rs and the Ducati actually weighs a tiny bit less. Actually pretty impressive considering all the extra accessories loaded on...
heated grips should be standard on a bike this expensive. Seat maybe? After the excitement wore off, they should have given us a bigger easier to read screen...I' mean your mounted phone looks bigger.
@@Rust_valley_adventures Ducati has this issue across most of their range. The spacers fix it on all, so it's not that big a deal. But it's more common than not, unfortunately.
@@PaulCypert mine don't have play in throttle , there's a tiny amount which is normal on most bikes that can go offroad, so there must be bad batch of throttles on bikes 😅
@@marcochavane3124 not really, desmo service on these 950’s isn’t needed until 18,000 miles, compared to 8,000 miles on the air cooled models like the Scramblers, older hypermotards or older monsters. Other then that an oil change won’t be different then any other twin of it’s size…
Sexy bike but don't regret my GS after this review. Small screen, no heated anything, non-adjustable windscreen, no choosing between different suspension ride heights on the fly, expensive servicing for sure, great review tho.
Or at least move the screen to the right so you can mount a phone/GPS right next to it. Or had movable rail bracket so you could arrange a second device next to it. Some Australian rider fabricated their own dash setup which was awesome.
OC...The bike style is a good nod to Dakar style offroading. That said, why would you want to find neutral at low speeds? You also (rightly) question throttling in certain modes- given the choice of modes, one would be a poor rider to elect to ride in a mode that isn't smooth or encourage getting on. When it comes to purchasing, one has to consider the initial outlay as your 'one and only' but factor in the servicing before deciding to pass. There are better and cheaper options out there....RSMF
It's true that there are better and cheaper options but that's not Ducati's target market. The head of Ducati came out last year and said they see Ducati as a premium brand. They're selling a record amount of bikes year over year, they don't really see themselves as competing with anyone. They way they look at it, you either want a Ducati or not.
This bike is meant to be written as an adventure bike. As you seemingly have no idea about Enduro, better, don't publish any verdicts about the Desert x. I've been driving it for a full season now in 50/50 mode: It's great on the road but it's phenomenal off-road 😋

The throttle deadzone allows you to modulate incremental throttle inputs more carefully than having no deadzone
14:45 correction on the engine type, the Ducati Desert X is not a Parallel-Twin engine configuration. It is a V-Twin Testastretta engine.

According to Fortnine, the front wheel is really light compared to other ADV bikes, probably why it feels so light
This review is absolutely the best I’ve seen on this sought after Ducati Desert X Definitely a lot of effort went into this thank you for the review.

Always love the content! When might a CF Moto 450 Ss first ride happen?
I know you have done the Tenere and super Tenere video, but would love a dedicated Tenere 700 review.

If you drop this and got problems in the handle bar with heated grips is going to be big problem…
Great review!

What is the unit on your screen? Km/h or M/h?
Camera guy; KYB, what the hell is that? What an assessment of the bike!
The slack in the throttle can be fixed by fitting some spacers into the throttle housing

@@PaulCypert why would I want to fit anything in any throttle ??
This is a dream bike
The maintenance would be a nightmare compared to other bikes.

When will you first ride the Ninja ZX-4RR
Man, I can't wait for SD to get a team. Sucks for SacRepublic. Great name honestly.
you never heard about kayaba before the desert x? you didn't do any homework on your mt-10, did you? :))
Mine will be ready friday next week, can't fucking wait !
@ 14:43 you say : "with this PaRaLLeL-TWiN, when you are on the highway" ......
it's a V-Twin / L-Twin (V2 / L2) . . . . Not an inline-2

Can you do a first ride on the Honda CB 650R
Really love this bike! oc
When are we gonna get more mt10 sp loaner content
This is based on the Monster or the Sportster, no?
Not based on, but uses same engine as Monster, Hyper, etc.
I am 5'5" I am a tippy toe boy on every bike.
I love the looks of that! Kinda can't wait for my 40-50 old man age, so I can get to try this out. But I'm not done hooning on my SDR yet :p
i hope you're still in the sport then :)

zx4rr on next vid please 🙏

Ducati throttle freeplay is too much. Throttle spacers fix that up.
No middle weight adv bike has hill hold
When Kawasaki zx4rr? 😂
Not ugly. Jealousy is an ug😊ly color on you!
Called it a parallel twin and have never heard of Kayaba before… Man, you have zero bike knowledge
Too expensive to buy and maintain.
😂😂😂
Africa twin is better bike for this price range
It's so ugly though
Looks amazing in black
Take a look at KTM 😂
Such a cool 80's inspired bike
I never thought that ducati would make such an ugly bike, uughh
That bike is mad UGLY looks worse than a Tenere 700!
