We need more videos like this of you searching through auto trader and the whole process of buying the car
Yes
Yeah definitely 👍
I agree,and what a magnificent car.Just love the sound of that engine,that V8 burble on tickover,effortless power.
agreed, i would love to watch matt buy cars!
No (just to be different)
totally with you on keeping it factory spec. no need to mess with such a performance car as those.
Tints are a must for me and maybe a nice chameleon windscreen too:-)
I feel the same way, my Focus ST3 is completely stock other than the upgrade to Sync 3 for android auto which is ford spec anyway. The owners club is full of remaps, tints, straight through pipes and body kits etc. Not for me thanks!
I know someone who has just had to get rid of a very nice Skoda Octavia vrs due to piston slap as a result of remapping ect 😢@@Leethemetalwarrior
@@Leethemetalwarrior how dare you change the radio?! You've made the car unusable
@@Leethemetalwarriordifferent strokes for different folks I have no idea how anyone can own a car and NOT modify it!!!!
Nice! The CarPlay just needs the MMI switching to Auxiliary. That's how these aftermarket send audio to the car.
Yep, had the same on my A3 pop up screen.
How do you do this
@@Gggg-xw7lo In the MMI menu, change "Source" to Auxiliary. You may need to plug something into the aux socket to make the car think there's something plugged in, but some units don't need that. I've done this in an Audi S4, BMW 330, Acura RSX and an L405 Range Rover. It works
Matt, on the CarPlay module, make sure aux is activated in media then click back over to the CarPlay screen. I’ve got the same module in my partners A4, it uses the aux input as the audio feed so you need to select it on the headunit before you click over to the CarPlay module
Oh , you were so enthused at this! It’s like you had a whole day off work and you and your bro’ had an unsupervised lark about. Really delightful to watch, and yes indeed, that looks a great car. I’m geekily keen to see how the seats come up and what a detail does to it. I was surprised you thought a wheel refurb’, but of course you know your stuff. Top content today! Thanks for sharing.
This is a proper High Peak video, getting us interested in a car that we all overlooked
Deffo a good format for you Matt. Good to have a few like this in the mix
That's a satisfyingly nice car. Respect to those who look after cars properly.
I'm really with you on the hideousness of cars that have been "chavified".
Oh I know. To think somebody would put a 3d reg plate on. What a chav.
@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne Why would anyone? Same as all after market modifications. They're hideous.
Great video! Triggered my OCD when you didn't arrange your search results in ascending price order and just started scrolling 😂
What a great car for the money - there's something special about opening UA-cam and finding a High Peak Autos video's been posted = instant watch! Having sold my second car a while back, I find these videos and your approach way more interesting and appealing than the usual 'look at this extremely expensive car that most people will never consider buying'. Makes me want a weekend car again.
That V8 bubbling is so good to hear
Matt is back! Who doesn't love a glorious V8 ❤👌
Great video Matt. This new format is great.
That is a very lovely car 🥰 You looked very excited when you drove it so I think you're temped to add it to your personal collection 👀
I’ve a later model low mileage B9 S5 Coupe in Black. Absolutely love the car. Looks great. Sounds great. Drives great. Had a C63 before and prefer the S5 without doubt.
That's one stunning car for the price Matt and a gorgeous colour
My first V8 was the 4.2 S5. Started a corporate job and thought I had the funds. I borrowed £7.5k from my parents to buy it, and although I had a lot of fun, I sold it for £7000. The stress relief from no longer having to wonder if my car was nicked the next morning. Always remember - live within your means!
Yes, this engine requires a carbon clean at 100k? I think.
Don't think these are common to get stolen. If I was you I'd at least fit a ghost immobiliser. These aren't keyless entry I believe so harder to steal and what makes thieves walk away. Near me a neirbour had his Mercedes GLE coupe stolen. Was keyless entry which was why. My next door neirbour has the same car but non coupe and non keyless entry and not stolen yet. My dad did spot someone by his house one morning and it was only after thinking about it we thought it may have been a suspected thief looking at it
So the issue was living in a bad area.
@@G2020- thieves can go to any area they want you fool. Keyless entry is the weak point, or at least the main weak point.

Tell me you live in the UK, without telling me...
Pause at @26:22 Important piece of service history there, the S-tronic stamp was done at 45k. This is 7k over the 38k when it should've been done. Due again soon at 83k so I'd be looking at getting that done for piece of mind as it is a few grand to get those repaired if they pop. At a minimum the main PCB can go and can be fixed with a repair kit but if the clutch packs go and/or the solenoids then it gets very pricey to sort.
*edit* Above applies to the 7spd DSG that some versions of the S5 came with, others came with the 6spd auto so it depends on the version it came with and the service book will tell you when the specific box in that car will need doing anyway.
Nice spec🤘About audio, if the car has aux jack or usb then you can connect your phone by aux and stream music by mobile. Or buy usb or jack Bluetooth transmitter and stream by that.
Summer 2009, at campsite at Lido di Jesolo near Venice. I was walking off the site one morning when a black Audi S5 rumbled past. Coolest car I'd seen in ages.
That Audi looks stunning and sounds epic, can't wait for part 2
Lol, I just had a brand new car delivered last week and now Matt’s got me excited about also buying one. 😂😂
Love me some Audi's.
Personally a HUGE fan of 5-cylinder engines and smaller cars. If I had more space, I would buy a MK2 TTRS. But I understand after watching some videos of yours, a long and sleek S5 is more of your style.
That’s a beautiful spec of S5 Matt. I love Audis light contrasting interiors. Enjoy!
I'm looking forward to part 2 👏👏
Oh Matt, Matt, Matt, MATT! Your killing me buddy! I am loving the Audi’s. The S4 Blew my Mind now a S5? I’m going crazy over here! 🎉
Great find matt and what noise out of it bargain car can't wait for the follow up video and be great to hear you've not massively overspent well done matt 👏
Didn’t realise these are £735 annual road tax. Great car though and a great video Matt
For a while now I’ve wanted one of these more than my next breath. This generation is way better looking than the new ones, way more. It’s aged very well as u say 👍🏻
The S5 is my favorite Audi of the 2000s.
Matt shows how good old cars are. Who needs EVs?

Was tempted to by one of these two years ago as a weekend car. But my little daily driver got written off and I needed a car asap, ended up choosing the A5 3.0 TDI instead. Had it remapped, it doesn't sound as good obviously as the S5 but it has almost the performance (maybe even quicker from a dig) and good enough fuel ecomomy to use as a daily. Mine is the 6 speed manual, drives great, love the looks but I'm not a fan of the electronic hand brake, prob the only thing I don't like about the car. First diesel car I've owned, didn't think I would like it so much, great value for money. 👌
'Buckety' IS a proper word in the car world! 20 years ago, I enquired on the phone about a Boxster S: 'does it have the sports seats?' [Geordie] Salesman: 'hang on, I'll just sit in it... ayyy - they're reet bucke'y,' while bouncing up and down. When I went to see the car, the seats were standard, however everything else was mint, so I bought it. Had a couple of faultless years. Although I did always hanker after the 'real' buckety seats 😃
What a lovely car Matt.
Matt please don't change the reg plates because they look perfectly fine good and dandey !!!!!
More videos like this please 🙏 awesome car & amazing value for money! If cost of living BS wasn’t so bad atm in the UK this would be top of my list
I don't see that changing for a long time unfortunately. By the time inflation comes down there won't be enough decent cars left. Plus UK govt agenda with net zero will make taxing these cars outrageous. The hated of fossil fuels is big at number 10.
One of your best videos yet 👌👍
Beautiful looking car and the sound of the engine is superb 👌
Defo love this type of video of you going through the whole process if searching for a car right through to getting it and what you going to do with it yeh let's have more of this type of videos love them there perfect 👌👍
I like this format of video. Taking us through the buying process and hopefully onto the completed product.
B8.5 (facelifted model) of this is till this day my favorite looking audi. Newer ones have just too much going on
Bought one of these in 2007, same colour except mine was manual and brown seats. The sound, speed and comfort on a coast to coast solo trip in South Africa was pure enjoyment as was everyday use. Love this car, IMO better than the RS5
This was Audi’s golden era in my opinion, from the B7 RS4 in 05 through to the mid teens.
Classy styling, feeling of absolute solidity and the right amount of tech without it becoming over complicated.
I had a couple of B8 A5’s and they were stunning cars.
Great review as always 👍
“it’s a Quattro all wheel drive, makes the perfect winter runaround” 😂😂
Matt, with the CarPlay you need to select the aux output on the standard audio mmi, you also need the standard audio output to aux
about to have dinner and BOSH new video
Matt, what happened to you original video of the Audi S5? I loved watching that. Glad you found another one to review! Cheers
Really enjoyed this video. Of course, I then jumped onto Autotrader, and couldn’t believe you passed up on the red one with 61k miles, with a plate I had to double take at - I thought it looked like one of yours! Only £4950 and has B&O too….(even if it does have aftermarket wheels…)
For the music to play via carplay you need to put the source to aux. It’ll then play sound.
Lovely looking car Matt. What a fabulous colour and the bark from that v8!!! Very nice.
This deserves so many more subs!
Hi matt, that would be a great Christmas present for your brother lol from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless and hope you all have a great Christmas and new year,
He’d just ruin it
How are you not on national TV. If Richard Madeley & Rick Astley had a love child it would be you. 😂. Seriously you have a great sales style, here in the US you would write your own checks…..cheers.
I owned a manual of one of these around 2015-2016, the EML popped up and the whole car began to shake/vibrate at this point. I took it to an Audi specialist in the North East, it only had around 50k miles on it at the time and I was told that it required a full timing chain tensioner replacement, was a rather costly repair. Still loved that car though, the V8 burble was a real head turner!
Great video. I would like to see more of these videos ❤ Have a great week Matt.
Just excellent as always, thank you Matt
To get the audio on the carplay working you just have to select the auxiliary input in the original system
Love the two part format Matt!
What a lovely car. Love the V8 soundtrack and the interior. Arguably nicer than newer models with V6. That engine good enough to go in the R8.
I tip my hat to you mate for looking into such an amazing car. I owned a 2008 model for 5 years, and whilst it came with some typical Audi issues, I still loved the ownership experience. Such a shame they dropped the V8 after only 3 years. Also, I had wireless carplay in my car, so if you need a hand getting the audio working, ping me and I'll help you - there's a few easy things you can check.
These video`s just keep improving, good content, good length and insightful.
When will you do another questionnaire or funny stories about your job or nightmare customers? I really miss those videos
Here we go boys and girls!
Lovely car Matt nice buy 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏
This was a cracking video Matt…. Well done, and great car!!!!!
Best looking car on a budget
awesome video, looking forward to part two
Love the S5 V8. Great looking car. Good work Matt.
Matt I’m with you on keeping cars OEM and dislike the gel reg plates but i went to get my plates changed and ended up with 4d acrylic 3mm plates as the do stand out, Have I lost the plot 😜
What a lovely Car thanks Matt 🎉😊
Best thing you can do is take front driveshafts out of any older Quattro!!! Good value for money but also bills can be expensive if you don’t know what you’re doing to work on it yourself. Like you say 1200 for clutch you can do it yourself for a fraction but most people can’t do that. Electrical is a worry on the 2006-2012 bracket.
You look through Auto Trader exactly as I do…if I see any aftermarket wheels, tints, maxton lips or stage 2 tunes it’s a no from me. The ad may as well read “it’s been absolutely ragged”.
I've always loved these. Best Audi ever in my opinion.
Wow! I’ve always fancied one of those. What a V8, I love it.
Great result on FB, not often the case. Seems like a genuine car from a genuine seller.
Really nice car Matt 👍 Looking forward to part 2!
i own one and i love it, its now on 63000 miles i bought it new. and still love it
Hmm I heard that 'its my dream car' from his brother.. I can feel a surprising my brother with his dream car vid coming on 😄
S5 is a great car Matt. 👌 RFT for 4.2 V8 from April 2025 will be a killer to it in UK. Very expensive. Good looking car though. Love it Lovely sublime sounding burble from exhausts. 👌this has been a great Monday evening video
What’s it going up to? Got rid of an older work car we used 3.0 tdi because it was 700 a year to tax, how’s that friendly for the environment to push you out of an already built car? Silly people in charge ruling over us with silly decisions. My X5M50d is expensive to tax, as is my M3, they are worth it but really why should I have to pay it when the roads are so messed up, why should anyone?
Great car for the money. In OZ you can pick them up in that nick for around £9-10k on carsales.
I know them really well.( dont ask) They engines suffer from carbon build up.
I also can confirm the engine mounts are always shot, along with lower control arms, the rotors warp easy, rocker cover gaskets leak
As a precaution I recommend changing the oil in the trans and awd system and resetting the ecu.
Change the serpentine belt with the tensioner and pulleys. If it fails its game over. 😃
Fantastic buy Matt. Love to see part 2👍
Matt shopping for a car - love it! Who doesn't love an excuse to browse autotrader...
Shrivenham is just outside Faringdon, in Oxfordshire (the Swindon postcode is a cross to bear 😂). The UK Defence Academy is based there, so could have belonged to a military type for a while. Lovely looking motor.
I bet, Matt will fix everything, enjoy it for a while, then decide that he preferes the blue S4 and give this one to his brother as a present 😂.
I bought a s5 2008 a few years ago. Amazing car but cost me a small fortune to maintain in my 12 months of ownership! Can’t beat the sound of the V8
For the CarPlay you just need to press the Media button to switch the audio to Aux then it will work 👍
I got a 2011 S5 for £3.5k. It had 70k, convertible, auto and FSH. Really nice car.
Wow, excellent price mate.
Bullshit
@ oh no, a guy from the internet doesn’t believe me. Please believe
@@TomTom-oq1dfhow do you know? He probably bought it with a problem and fixed it or had a good day at the auction and no other bidders. I’ll never get the mentality of “I’ve not done this so he must not have done it *points at person* LIAR”
During 🔒⬇️ by any chance?
I just love how much is available for little money. It is to be hoped that the upcoming EV regs do not upset the second hand car market causing inflated prices as people increasingly avoid new cars. I guess you would be happy for that 😂
The 11 plate era had the best v8 engine in what a ffing beast these especially the earlier ones.👊
Can’t wait to see the finish product
Bought myself a post 2012/13 facelift A5 couple weeks back in the same colour. My first "nice" car and such a good looking thing!
I buy and sell (hoard) quite a few Audis of that era and I always think you can tell within the first few seconds of setting off if it's a good one. Funny how you did the same at 18:05. I've even found it on cars with no history and multiple owners. I think a lot is also down to how they have been driven over their life
Lol nice city car Matt? Ive just bought 2 months ago 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0T with ZF8 speed. So pretty light salon with the most economical automatic out there. And driving through Cambridge in auto/normal mode I'm extremely happy to see 20mpg...
17-19mpg in heavy traffic...so i can imagine this heavy V8 quattro will do like 10mpg 😂😂😂
But...i absolutely love this S5...stunning design...even the designer did say its the masterpiece...
But my Giulia is just desperately pretty ❤
The car's aged so damn well
Nice going through the process video style..
"A nice city car." Yep. You'd need to play for City to afford the fuel bill just driving that around town. Sounds boss though. And such a pretty car.
A city like Houston woukd be ideal 😂
Congrats, Matt 👏👌. Finally, you have come around to the best bargain in the market. I remember you had one from a friend`s father that you put on the Raffles you used to be into. That was a great-looking car as well, and manual, I think. I'm jealous 😉 And you will like to know this:
