What a lot of pc players seem to not understand is that it’s almost impossible to Aim without aim assist, it doesn’t make the game easier or your aim automatically insane, it’s giving you the bare minimum.
I Play on Both pc and Console and im master on pc and low diamond console, cuz im much better at aiming on pc. When you play on pc you can create muscle memory something you cant do with a stick. Im opinion 100 hours on aim training + 100 hours on ow on pc hives you a higher rank on ow if you start from scratch than 500 hours on ow console alone
People definitely don’t talk about controller dead zones and sudden movement on controller. On MnK you could easily do a 180 not so much on controllers because there are restrictions
its not really the bare minimum at all, a new player having aim assist instantly has better aim than the extreme large majority of new pc players, even pc players who have been playing mouse and keyboard for quite some time
This guy killed it here 13:50, you can't say you're the "superior" plataform, and then suddenly says "Oh, but if I loose to you, that's because of your aim assist" Like bruh?
I am going to be real here aim assist on console is terrible sometimes. Like you can try shooting somebody in the very back like as widow to pick off their supports but if the entire enemy team is running around in front of you the aim assist is gonna drag your aim all over the place and youll end up missing your shot. Like everybody talks about how its unfair or console players are bad because they have/need aim assist but you fail to realize that is a portion of your control taken away from you and used by an AI. its like 2 people playing the same character neither of you know the others' plan and thus your teamwork is going to be off and sometimes cost you the win or your life. Your mechanical skill is at the mercy of an AI because it thinks you are shooting somebody infront of you and not somebody specificly who may or may not have people in that same or near that line of sight.
@@itsme924 exactly even if its seen as a crutch console players need its not like it outweighs the multiple other downsides to using a controller over a mouse to aim. Like even if you can do flicks with console that entirely depends on your sensativity as for console thats essentially your turning speed while for PC its more your turning distance (aka how far exactly do you turn with a single flick)
If you ever aim at a Baptist’s and he throws a lamb below him your joystick horas to the lamp by itself and fs your aim up. Also when trying to heal w Ana and someone passes through her and fs up your aim. Aim assist fks you up a lot. also aiming with Winston and leaping up it slows it down. (I have a lot of examples lol)
People who complain about the concept of aim assist (not the strength) are braindead we have only our thumb to move our camera, we can’t do crazy 180s, fine tuning your aim can be hard as well on controller. I also hate how fidgety the aim assist is on console, I can be looking up a baps immortality and my aim moves down to look at the bap inside it
Imo Jix was just dodging NotACanadian’s questions like crazy. NAC was just asking if you lose to a console player with less/worse tools to use, then that’s just a skill issue but Jix just kept replying with aim isn’t as good as game sense. While I’m not saying he’s wrong as a whole, in the video’s context he kind of is. Game sense was not mentioned in the question at all, so it would’ve been safe to assume that people 1v1ing have similar/same game sense.
Well having good “game sense” and “positioning” is also considered “skill” would it not? Its kind of situational depending on the 1v1. I mean if both players are on widow and one snipes the other without one even knowing she was there what could you call that? On the other hand you can have 2 tracers go at it and may the better player win.
Game sense and positioning are part of your skill along with mechanical skill. If a controller player beats you because they had better positioning and game sense that's a skill diff.
@@valdranne like I said in my comment NAC’s question had nothing to do with game sense. He was mainly talking about aim and hardware differences from what I remember which can influence who would win in a 1v1. That’s also why I said it would be safe to assume that in these hypothetical scenarios where aim and hardware seem to the main point, that the players game sense would be on similar levels. To answer your Widow question: like you said it’s situational. Yeah it could be good game sense, but it could also be a hardware difference like one player having a faster system.
@@sirdogs8766 I wasn’t saying Jix was wrong about game sense being important, I was saying he was wrong in the context of NAC’s question. Read my other reply too since part of it applies to this and I don’t want to retype it.
I think Jix was doing a poor job communicating the point he was attempting to get at. SVB did a video on this topic with a couple console players and Samito. Sam's point was that the question of skill issue is irrelevant to how it feels. It doesn't feel good to win against a console player as a PC player for the same reasons it doesn't feel good to lose to them. Regardless of how strong aim assist is or the quality of a PC players peripherals the question on the "loser's" mind is always, "did I lose because my of input method?" The PC player asks, "did I lose to what is basically a legal aim bot?" The console player asks, "did I lose because the other guy spent more money on his gaming set up?" I don't mean to do some kind of "PC-master-race-" flex with the second question. It just that PC parts are unfortunately quite expensive. To be quite honest I think there is a simple solution to the question of which is superior: PC vs. Console? Don't put them in the same competitive lobbies because there isn't a way to make them fair AND feel good for everyone.
13:49 NOTA has some valid points, and he even made JIX contracting himself in 15:08 - 15:26. You can’t say positioning & game sense it’s not part of skill package deal. Someone already proven it on their Ana reddit post again Awkward. That even had a video receipt. If having better hardware and a PC player still can’t beat a console player on positioning / game sense. That’s a skill issue in my book
but that is skill issue based on positioning and game sense because the other person probably has more game knowledge, not because the user is using a controller or a keyboard and mouse, the problem is when you have something that is somewhat aiming for you, doesn't matter if pc player has more fps, input lag or better setups, if a console player knows how to abuse aim assist in games they can destroy pc players.
@@KaosViruX wouldint that argument apply to sensitivity on pc too? Your built in mouse settings that the game lets you adjust are allowing you to react faster, flick faster, and overall has more options to make your reaction time, sensitivity etc better for you while using a flick of your wrist versus a controller? To your last point every pc vs console ranked video that streamers have done the pc teams have ran over console every time with an exception I think it was jay3s game he hosted where console gm won but that was on the back of probably the best console soujourn there is taking over and carrying in the most important fights.
@@BetaNurse68 the argument wouldn't apply to sensitivity on pc because its the same was camera sensitivity on controller, your just changing the settings to better adjust for your aim, in the end pc player still needs to directly aim to the target, while in controller is like a small magnet to the body. I know about the jay3 console vs pc, even tho pc players bodied the consoles, there where many times that you can see the "hard" lock on the aim assist helping them in frontal confrontations, but when the pc players started zooming around console players couldn't compete.
@@KaosViruX PC and console cannot reliably play on the same sense because console has much less control the higher you go. The size of the mousepad allows pc to have a wide range of motion but still allow pc to make micro adjustments, the thumbstick doesn't allow you to perform fast actions without compromising precision in some ways. The only way for a controller to reach a somewhat fast speed whilst still being able to make slower movements is to play with your controller set to a more exponential ramping, this is often not favored however because it now slows down inputs and adds a sense of inconsistency
@@KaosViruX What? Bruh, they're not the same If you ever had played on M&K and controller on consoles, you know MK have a LOT more sensitivity settings then controllers, it's not the "same" thing, that's a reason why Top 500 it's full of MK players even though console players have aim assist, that's because even with aim assist, you can't get closer to MK privileges and advantages towards console players
The whole aim assist argument is kinda crazy and flawed in one big way. That being that most console players have at some point used a mouse and keyboard for something similar to aiming (or are at least familiar with the system), while it seems most pc players have never played on a controller to actually find out what its like (speaking specifically about Overwatch or modern comp games, since aim assist is wildly different game-to-game). Also, aim assist basically doesn’t matter for a large number of heroes who don’t use hitscan weapons.
Based take, it's why trying to hit gm as echo on console has be the hardest thing I've ever done in overwatch and I've played it on both pc and console, and I love a challenge so the funnest I've ever had in ow has been playing echo on console, I'm masters 3 atm and I noticed teams just go full hitscan and theres almost nothing I can do sometimes but now when I go over to pc again I find hitscan so much easier to deal with as echo, and I can even play echo with my buddy in pc diamond lobbies using a controller and actually carry 😂
I fully don't understand what you mean. Only thing I can think of is that back when nonoblate was meta? Like the "if one team had one the best counter was to get your own", Or like pre role-queue how brig dictated the game?
@@ondrejlukas326 *grapples away* Best counter to widow is a shield on her face Wait she can grapple over the shield to move Turns out the fastest and most efficient way to kill a widow is another widow

Notacanadian should become a politician. A very good speaker in general, closing the debate with a bias confession and a peaceful, I guess we have reached the middleground. Very good debate
Hello Friends I’m Nota. This was such a fun opportunity to be apart of. Even though I’m not the highest rank (for now) I hope I made some good points as rank didn’t seem to matter as much in this episode. Thank you Christal for the opportunity. Edit: after listening to myself talk, all I’m wondering is why was I speaking with an accent, I don’t have an accent.
i'm a Console player turned PC player recently Question 1: was never GM so I can't speak on this. Question 2: I find that its equally as easy/hard on both PC and Console. i main Hanzo and Doom, and like to play Cass, Widow and Ashe as well on both platforms. Question 3: I find it easier to do small adjustments and small flicks on controller, but having to do big flicks is obviously easier on PC. however both require time to learn. as stated before, I main Hanzo and Doom, my skill with Hanzo is about equal on both platforms as I don't require to have big flicks if I stay at medium/long range, but as Doom, it is by far easier to play on PC as he need a lot of camera movement, constantly doing 180s and such so he is much easier on PC. Question 4: yes, PC is superior, I think on PC the skill ceiling is much higher. not to even get to being able to optimise the settings. the amount of times I've been killed by a rat hiding in a bush just to be annoying, when on PC i have details set to low and these bushes don't even appear on my screen Question 5: I think a console OWL would be cool. but there shouldn't be a mix. it would be too much of a mechanical limitation. Question 6: 100% skill issue. I have lost to a few console players on Quick Play. And I believe "skill issue" encompasses game sense and positioning as its a skill you learn. If I lose to a controller player, then its just a lack of skill on my end and the other player is just better.
@@ChristalRaineI think this would be an awesome idea for an episode in the future. Console players who have recently switched to PC. I've just switched to PC also and have loads to say about the comparisants between both platforms from both stand points. And im sure others of the same would as well 😄👍
@AmmoPack64 I've also recently switched to PC! I've only been actively trying to improve for a month or two but it's been fun thus far, its definitely quite different for me
The people who disagreed with the last one honestly are just coping imo. Overwatch is a game about many things, aim being one of the least important ones when it comes to positioning, game knowledge, and movement. Just because a console player has aim assist, does not make it any less of a skill issue that you lose a 1v1 to them.
I played Overwatch 1 almost entirely on PC, I bought it there because I figured PC would by far have the largest playerbase, and since there was no crossplay at the time I worried the console versions might be dead within a year or two like so many other shooters. I had very little experience playing shooters on PC going in, but put in several hundred hours and feel like I got pretty good. As for Overwatch 2, I have played it entirely on Xbox Series X so far. In total my profile says I have over 700 hours of combined playtime between the two games. My thoughts on some of these: -Hitscan weapons are definitely easier than projectile, regardless of PC or console, imo. Projectile requires pretty much the same level of aiming skill, except you also have to memorize various different leading distances for various different distances to the target, to cope with strafing, and then there is still the possibility of the enemy countering that leading by zig zagging with good timing. Hitscan is obviously easier as it's just point and click, regardless of distance to target or the enemy's attempts to evade. -it is harder to aim on controiler, thumbsticks are never going to be as precise as a mouse, you tend to see jerkier movement, it's a bit harder to aim for headshots with say Kiriko's kunai and projectile weapons in general as a result. I also think it takes more practice to get good with controller in a shooter compared to mouse/keyboard, for brand new players to the genre. Even at maximum controller sensitivity you can't do flickshots as fast or turn around as quickly as you can with a high DPI mouse. Those things do tend to give a PC/m&k player an advantage over a console/controller player of similar skill levels. -PC is superior to console in terms of aiming, as mentioned above, and maximum graphics output, but console has various advantages, cheaper start-up cost, more likely to be playing on a larger screen, built-in voice chat, etc. Each person has to weigh the pros and cons of each when deciding, there is no definitive answer here.
People always be overestimating aim assist and acting as if it’s a define all end all thing when it’s not. It’s incredibly inconsistent and actually messes you up most of the time, yes it stops at a certain point so the rest you have to do is by yourself, but all it takes is a little movement towards the person your aiming at by another enemy to completely throw off the aim. It can also over assist causing you to miss. If anything 30-40% of the time is helps you. Most of the time it doesn’t, so in all honesty, if a pc player gets beat by a console player even with aim assist it is a skill issue because the aim assist isn’t actualy giving them an advantage. But this is speaking from personal experience.
In my experience of the console aim assist at the strongest setting, what it appears to mainly do is lower the sensitivity when facing an enemy, and increase the sensitivity for manoeuvring outside of fights. It also slightly tilts the camera towards their general direction.
That's what aim assist in games is, aim slowdown, people complain about it a lot because they hear aim assist and think aim bot. They are just mad because they are worse than a console player.
The aim-assist discussion is definitely weird thing to get into. The problem with comparing skill between a M&K and gamepad 1:1 is because they're fundamentally different controllers. I'd agree M&K have generally better advantages then gamepad even including aim assist, but that does not change the fact that aim assist still negates aspect(s) of skill. That being said, I'd similarly say that all the K&M has negates aspect(s) of skill even against other K&M players(thanks to varying levels of computer hardwear). How much skill and which kind of skill each system negates is a huge debate in itself, but is also kind of pointless to get into. Personally the concept of "skill issue" in this topic is weird in general. On a side note, Anyone remember of Gyro controls? A video from SolarLight shows the potiential Gyro controls have for aiming, and it was enough for me to believe it atleast equalizes the mechanic differences in games with limited button commands. Gyro controllers gives the key thing gamepad is missing: Refined mouse movement. It's still a case of different mechanical skill, but it's much closer then joystick movement.
Agreed Mous&Keyboard and Controller are just two different tools that require different skill. I'd also say the Aim Assist also requires getting into the details to actually assess whether it takes skill away or not. OG OW1 aim assist was so awful I literally turned it off for a good chunk of characters and did better just relying on pure aim. Then the improved AA made it worth having on all characters but it would still slow you down or drag too much on certain Heroes and situations. So it was better to reduce the AA window on projectiles where you want to aim ahead of people. That's not even getting to Ana who has friendly AA too. Safe to say it's a lot more complicated than most discussions get into.
I have wanted Gyro controls in Overwatch for some time now. I found out about it when Risk of Rain 2 on switch had it and I turned it on because my friend thought it'd be funny. It was insane how much better I saw myself begin to perform when I realized just how much better it let me make micro adjustments to my cursor placement. I started to try it out in different games and it's almost always an immediate bonus to have. I know Overwatch on the switch apparently has it, but I play on PlayStation and its not currently an option for some reason.
Here's a hot take, its not a wierd discussion at all actually. The PC players ego is over inflated and are mentally incapable of accepting an L so the argument is 100% of the time "aim assist is aimbot and unfair even though my mouse and PC settings are a superior input while in comparison to a controller with aim assist". And its not even debatable bc the evidence is always there anytime the discussion arrises.
@@malvirothe5742 I mostly agree. I consider weird in the sense that it's considered a strong enough point for it to be worth talking about, but in reality is usually just one of the many forms of mudslinging against outgroups. It's not meant to have substance, but some people still treat it as if it does. Sometimes out of ignorance, sometimes for the reason you just described.
In the last Hot Take, there is a whole lot of gray area which makes it hard to decide if it's really a skill issue and makes it more of a pros & cons debate. Jix is fixated on console's small leverage of Aim Assist and having to put less effort in human-precision input could factor the win no matter how small the percentage. While NotACanadian states the PC player's specs as numerous pros, it doesn't indicate they don't place in any effort in precision as well. When Consoles having simple limitations and PC having open complexity, each has their own difficulty but you can label them with pros and cons My Take: Skill is not entirely the issue Good show btw
Wow what a great concept I’m hooked! You could legit make any Jubilee concept in Overwatch. Like holy shit I’m getting so excited just thinking about it! I feel like odd man out could also be fun especially.
As a pc player, I feel that hit scan is way easier than projectile. I am terrible at predicting movements and guiding my shots so hit scan is much easier for me. I have more accuracy on Widowmaker or Cassidy than say Hanzo or even Junkrat. I can see why the console players say that projectile is easier though because it's way harder to do hitscan when you are only using your thumbs.
yeah i think hitscan is easier just because its the traditional way to play an fps. more consistent unless youre full on practicing projectile heroes. im a console player as well
you should do one with most hated characters think the same like sombra and mei players think the same cause like they are the players that i think get the most hate.
@@sendhelplea Many people have talked about Mei being really annoying to deal with, although mostly from her original kit from the original Overwatch. Though she can earn her team very quick kills a little too easily.
I’ve got a good hot take: Often times, I end up being disconnected because of servers, which is one of the main issues with the game that needs to be fixed.
As a PC player, I 100% agree with notacanadian on that last question. Positioning, game sense, and aim all combine into your general skill at the game. Idk why everyone is trying to act like they are different things completely and that positioning is not related to your skill. If anyone, barring what platform they play on, have better aim, positioning, game sense, etc. than you then they are, by definition, more skillful than you.
It is a skill issue, aim assist is a tool because pc players can aim easier so then if aim assist helps to equal the problem if you lose is because you have worse positioning and aim…
One tiny thing to point out is that positioning, etc. is a skill, you have to possess that knowledge of it and execute it optimally. That’s why it’s called out playing the enemy, aim assist doesn’t manipulate game sense, positioning, ect. I’d say agree for skill problem.
NOTA provided good points about aim-assist. But Jix just did the rest for NOTA by himself. Omegalul Especially if we are talking 1v1 on Lijiang or mirrored 1v1 mode. Thats straight up skill issue.
I've never played a keyboard and mouse game before, swapped form Xbox to PC was diamond everything, within 300 hours I was masters everything. I promise you PC is easier. You don't have casual players or people who are horrendous on your team, aiming is easier, and no ximers
That dudes point about console siege is funnily enough the reason I quit that game and tried out overwatch, the game is less aim intensive and more about controlling cool downs and counter picks kinda like LoL. I'd honestly deal with a hacker then a Xim keyboard cheater, at least I would know I couldn't win no matter what and be less upset with myself- And then there are the people that try to defend it isn't cheating, using a third party application that isn't normally availing to everyone who plays, in specific ideal to have an unfair competitive edge, is cheating and there is no way to defend it.
The fact that Gyro isn't mentioned at all here 4:20, is really upsetting. It goes to show how underutilized this very viable aiming technique really is. Gyro allows the player to do more 1:1 movements that aren't possible with analog controls and allows the right thumb stick to shine as well. As analog is a very limited method of camera control hence why it's normal to have aim assist for controllers. The problem of fairness of Controller V M&K can be largely elevated solving one of the biggest problems with matchmaking PC players with Console players. I would highly suggest you watch SolarLight's "Why Controllers don't suck in Team Fortress 2" video for more detail about Gyro and how it can even be used in games that don't even have Controllers really in mind. Heck and if you're interested in the control method you can try it both PC and Switch.
I played on console exclusively until ~2017 when I built my pc. I use pc for everything except console exclusive games now. It is frustrating that other pc players have so limited understanding of what aim assist is. Aim assist is a slow zone surrounding a hit box. When you are within the zone your sensitivity is slowed artificially while you are tracking. It is the equivalent of moving your mouse slower make fine aim adjustments, Something that is incredibly difficult for a joystick without aim assist. It is not aiming for you at all in most games. In some games the zone will drag your crosshair along the zone’s boundaries but to aim at the targets hit box is solely based on human input. If a controller player beats me in a overwatch 1v1 I’ve lost due to a skill issue.
As someone who plays OW on both PC and console, it seems like skill/value of hardware is very dependent on an individual person's play style at the end of the day. Good players will be good, regardless of platform. As far as aim assist goes, it does get blown out of proportion a bit. I use controller on PC but it still feels relatively close to the console experience even without AA, at least up to diamond
I literally switched to pc yesterday and I INSTANTLY got better. Not slightly better, but much better. Just aiming with a mouse gave me a few kill streaks
me and my dad both switched to pc when i was 11 (we bought it for minecraft) and i remember he would always play pubg with his controller plugged in and i would watch him play and it was so painful and slow 😭😭😭 he was handicapping himself in pc lobbies. since then he has converted to mnk like me and one time he mentionned how bad controller feels compared to pc now. most controller players are just used to controller and it's a safe zone for them but once you learn keyboard it just makes me feel like i can move faster, even if it's technically just my camera moving fast. i mean gm controller players can make it work since they have to be working fast but god i tried ow on the switch and i felt claustrophobic
I've played on both pc and controller for various different shooters, something i've taken away from those experiences is that aim assist is heavily overestimated in strength. I used to be quite a high level player in Fortnite on controller a long time ago, any time I came up against a PC player, if I won all skill and game sense was thrown out the window and their loss was blamed on aim assist (sometimes I even turned it off just to test their reactions and it was still the same). In fortnite there was only really one point where aim assist was actually genuinely strong enough to be worth complaining about, which was when spamming L2 would redirect the crosshair to the target a small distance. This was then later reworked to a more sticky aim assist where you would still have to aim entirely on your own for it to even kick in at all. The only either slight advantage a controller had over M&K was 360 degree movement, but with some settings adjusted, you could achieve the exact same results with a keyboard. Apart from those 2 slight advantages, pc had infinitely more advantages and it became harder to do anythin else they could do with a controller. My stance on console versus pc on overwatch is largely similar to how it is on fortnite. PC is able to do everything so much quicker without compromising precision. They also have way more inputs to work with and all can be accessed whilst being able to access your camera movement (one of the biggest advantages they hold over console if they do not play "claw"). The only scenario where I think aim assist actually poses much more of an advantage is in lower ranks, where the pc players aren't very good at taking advantage of their major movement advantage and neither are very good at aiming.
Competitive Apex is dominated by controller because of aim assist currently. Perhaps it doesn't make a lot of difference for average player, but it absolutely does at competitive level (and like you said at low level when mouse player can't aim). This is why we should never mix aim assist controller and mouse on competitive. Also aim assist change every balance. Moira isn't impacted by aim assist, she can't use this specific tool, so she is worst on console. And the opposite goes for snipers.
@@jerejere-qv7xk apex is a bit different but in overwatch, has anybody noticed a blatant advantage in controller aim in qp lobbies on pc? they get aim assist but i havent seen a single person point out that a console player playing on pc qp is broken, if they even notice that theres a console player in their lobbies
@@jerejere-qv7xk The aim assist found in titles like apex, cod, halo and destiny are considerably stronger than that of overwatch. Overwatch lacks the rotational aim assist that occurs when a player strafes out of your crosshair found in apex (this rotational aim assist exists because it is physically impossible for a controller to react to strafing at the same speed as a mouse due to the thumbstick having to cross essentially a deadzone to input the opposite direction, unfortunately in apex it is overtuned). I think in my opinion, apex and shooters like cod also rely more on aim than overwatch and fortnite. I think overwatch has more depth and mechanics to handle with far more abilities and quicker, more erratic movements with heroes like tracer, that require more readjusting. For example, I play minimal overwatch on pc, but my movement is already better on pc because I have much more range of motion and it's faster and easier to hit multiple inputs at once with stuff like blinks and flight
you should do this same video idea but with questions targeted towards certain characters and people who main them, like rein mains and genji mains sort of thing!
i just wanna say that i appreciate how none of the people who disagreed with the statement "pc is superior to console" did so bc they thought console was superior, but rather bc they felt the two methods were equal.
I played console from launch til this January when I switched to PC. They were pretty much spot-on when they said that gamesense carries over but mechanical skill doesn't. The aim assist is such a massive crutch and I didn't realize how intense it was until they added crossplay and took aim assist away from console players in crossplay lobbies. There are definitely still degrees of skill even with aim assist though; people who know how to aim on a controller are still going to do better than a player who can't aim well with a controller(like a masters console player vs silver console player) on 100 aim assist. The learning curve to swap from controller to mouse and keyboard was really rough for me but I'm figuring it out the more I play.
Aim assist is in crossplay lobbies. It got re-added, not taken away, and Overwatch’s aim assist is not nearly as much of a strength or crutch as people think. Your problem wasn’t dealing with the lack of aim assist, it was adapting to the speed and precision of MnK and getting used to quickly reacting with the mouse in order to keep up with the lobbies of more experienced PC players you were in.
I mainly play on console, I have my entire life, and I recently got a PC about 9 months ago, and I CANNOT play the game for the life of me. I just one trick Mercy on PC cause I can’t remember the controls well enough to focus on aiming at anything XDDDDD
Little thing that may help you is to get a mouse with programable thumb buttons. Something like a Razer Death Adder or Mamba can really help when you bind your abilities to the thumb buttons. I play a lot of MMO's so I have a Naga I use, 12 thumb buttons some I disable, others I use for commands like "Heal me", "Thanks", and simple pings as well as character abilities. Other thing you can do is try to lower your sensitivity some, when learning it can help to make your mouse movement 1-1 until you start to get the feel for it. So, basically lower it so the screen turns as fast as you move your mouse, or a little bit faster if you can handle it. :) Aside from that, it just takes time and practice to get used to keyboard and mouse, but once you understand it you will be golden.
where the fuck do you live pc parts are a million dollars rn, most pcs that can run games will be around 1k and that's lowballing it idek how good that's gonna run games. most consoles r around 500$
Why do they treat aim assist like it’s aimbot? If your crosshairs aren’t at most 1/2 a centimeter away thd aim assist isn’t gonna save you. Yes I’ve played a few fps games on both and In general aiming is easier on m&k because I can make quick and precise movements at the drop of a hat.
maybe im just dumb but id say that itd be cool to put whether they are pc/console on the screen when theyre speaking, i personally forgot which one is which in the beginning😅
9:49 PS5 120fps vs PS4 (~60fps) is like having a hacker against you. Playing on pc takes so much time for me to get used to. Abilities take the most time to learn on pc.
Ngl console is way harder to aim with then pc, cause aim assist isn’t the bogey man that pc players create and with a controller ur just using ur thumb but with pc you have your entire arm
Something I havent seen mentioned is the fact that console only gets aim assist in console only lobbies in ranked, which isnt very common, so I and probably a fair number of of other console players turn their aim assist off or atleast down so they dont lean on aim assist. On the other hand, plenty of console players keep their aim assist on 100 %, so it it fustrating going against a max aim assist hitscan without aim assist yourself on console.
It only happens in quick play and as a console player, it barely helps me lol. It's more like a way to help gyro controls look less nauseous than anything else
I’m a console player and I turned aim assist completely off for Genji when I first started playing him because it slows the aiming down and I increased sensitivity to as high as it can go. I’ve been playing him for 53 hours and it’s really hard but occasionally after good warm up sessions in Genji custom maps I’ll get a good couple blade kills. I have a PC but I’ve grown up with consoles so I’m just more used to them and can’t officially make the switch to the “Superior Platform” I’ve watched hundreds upon hundreds of hours of professional Genji streamers and Genji videos just to replicate what I see from some PC stuff and make the most of the limited settings I have and how much I can grow as Genji without aim assist. Compared to PC, console has the shorter skill ceiling. That was a cool interesting video! Thank you!
Personally I disagree with most what Nebula said. Simply because 1. I have a different opinion and 2. because she often missed to answer the question and talked about unrelated things. Are pc superior? Of course they are! The question has nothing to do with cost and how you feel about it. Spec wise it is completely superior. Even if you ask about the feeling of owning said piece, it doesn't change the fact that superiority is about the quality. Most people that will play both devices equally will most likely than not choose a pc over a console. Device quality, chat quality, even game quality and modding quality and so on, is much higher for a pc. Is a new high tech car or an old low tech car superior? Console players shouldn't get the same equal play rights in e sport. They should get the same equal rights in their own area of playfield. Why do you think there is a seperation of gender in physical sports? A different way to see the question of pc vs console 1v1, is to ask, is it a skill issue if a player loses a 1v1 against another player? The answer should always be yes. Luck and game sense are also skills that you possess. If I win against you in a 1v1, then I am clearly better than you. That makes it a skill seperation. The problem why you lose? A skill difference, a skill issue. If we would be trading 1v1 losses, then we would technically be equal in skill. However we still have an skill issue because we are not better than our enemy. A skill issue still persists. M&K or a controller does not directly translates to who wins compared to who is the player. But pc is superior in quality of aim and movement. Why do we play mmorpg games on pc and why are most only available on it? There is definitely a higher win rate for a pc vs console player on "the same skill level". The last sentence was probably the intention of the 1v1 question she asked.
with the last question, it depends on the hero, especially with characters that have nothing to do with aiming, losing on those characters is more of skill diff (eg lucio, moira, mercy) (that is if we are talking about a 1v1). On the other hand if it is heroes like soldier, considering the fact that aim assist aspect is also available, you could say it is a skill issue. In terms with the point on equipment, I would argue that equipment difference can exaggerate skill differences (eg if you have $1000 dollar headphones compared to a $30 one). I would personally say that PC players have access to more equipment, so losing to PC players is not really just a determinant of your own skill but also the equipment available to each. the other thing that can be said is the fact that joysticks take a bit of time before they come to a full stop so your pointer slightly overshoots from your target, this is not an issue with PC and is the reason why the aim assist exists. You could argue the aim assist is more to ensure that players can actually aim where they actually want to. so you could ultimately say that losing is a skill issue.
11:39 yeah that is very true i agree with what he said how profitable is it for blizzard's end if they ever make an OWL console I mean OWL itself isn't really that much profitable so its like a really risky gamble if OWL console would ever popoff and has there been any buzz of having OWL console? as far as I know i haven't heard anyone doing it
Playing projectile is simply playing hitscan + extra steps (prediction/reading enemy). Any good projectile player can pick up a hitscan and roll the enemy team. But that's boring.
i actually play PC with a controller and I play in GM and Master lobbies. I'd much rather duel anyone on PC because i know there's a chance they'll miss where the Console player an't missing which is more scary. It's actually the reason i switched to PC because i found console to be too hard at times.
I think the last argument is a perfect example of why I don't want overwatch to have pc and console players in the same ranked lobbies. I specify ranked because i couldnt care less what happens in qp or arcade lobbies as they have no real bearing on competitive play. Skill differentials are irrelevant when the issue at hand is one player asking themselves, "Did I win or lose just because of my input method?" It doesn't feel good for console players to lose to PC players because PC players have a mouse and keyboard. Meanwhile PC players don't feel good losing to console players because the PC players will be asking themselves, "did I lose to aim assist?" And the strength of aim assist is also irrelevant since a PC player could have a toaster oven PC and $2 PC peripherals. Obviously PC has potential for higher APM, framerate, etc. But if we are playing against one another in a game I don't know how good or bad your set up is and vice versa.
I've just recently been switching from console to PC and it's depressing to play on console now. I feel like everything changes. Characters that I suck with on console get so much better on PC, and this is really because of the level of control you can have with a mouse. A controller is so clunky by comparison.
Yep, you have far better damage potential in dealing with her and if you lose it’s probably because she dodged you shots, faded on you while flanking, or used orb effectively. This is an extreme case because aim assist doesn’t give you that level of free damage on other heroes and often times is better to just turn it off as it doesn’t know how to lead with shots and pulls your aim in random ways.
Given the fact that most gm and top 500 console players use xim they’re pretty close to pc. It’s kind of disheartening that xim usage wasn’t mentioned as it’s not talked about enough.
@@katerinagagne1809 it’s an adapter that goes into the back of the console. It allows you to use mouse and keyboard on console while also having aim assist on the mouse and keyboard. It’s a huge issue that gets exponentially worse the higher you go up.
I played with controller in pc, no aim assist (I didnt even know it was a thing until I switched to console and seeing that the reticle moved a bit), beating pc players and then played in console and the only thing that felt different was that the reticle moved a bit I didn't know what it was until I went back to pc and were dogs*it at the game and then noticed the aim asisst thing, I didn't suddenly became God, I literally stayed in the same rank as I was on pc, I think aim assist the only thing that it does is changing the way you aim and you can be better (in controller) without the assist if you are more comfortable without it
Sometimes I wish aim assist could be turned off. It's not that strong. Unless you're aiming at Immortality Field. In which case it will do a full on streamline upwards
Like the above guy said, Advanced Setting allows you to turn it off or at least reduce it significantly. Since you haven’t looked at it before, I highly recommend changing the default aim type to one of the other 2. Personality I like *Linear Rammed* aim type.
i play on console sometimes with my friend who doesnt have pc and tbh i dont think console players think at all, it is whole different vibe to pc even in higher ranks people just play to chill
While you do need mechanical skill for good 180s on pc imagine controlling your character on a joystick that rotates, thus making aiming not linear like a mouse where it's moved along a 2d plane
Nebulas a mercy main Also coming from apex legends I promise AA in overwatch is nothing compared to apex and apex barely did anything. I played controller on PC too and it honestly felt better sometimes. Another thing to add AA in apex slows your aim and nothing else since 2021. AA is too strong in overwatch so you need to negate almost all of it anyways to actually aim.
The skill issues thing to me basically sounds like two guys seeing who can lift a heavier bench, but one guy gets to have his girlfriend help lift the weight on the way back up lol. Yeah he may be stronger, but you’ll never really know for sure because he had help.
As a console player, ive tried using a mouse to aim and its super hard lol. Ive been using controllers for like 15 years and never had a mouse. I tried using it when at my bfs house and it felt awful to use
yeah that's just what happens when it's all you know, the only games i played on console were non shooters (except a tiny bit of halo) i got a pc to play minecraft when i was 11 and haven't looked back. we bought red dead redemption 2 at launch and i wanted to try.... which meant i had to play with a controller. i could barely survive the tutorial fight because i just always overshoot 😭😭😭 i tried playing ow on my switch and it feels like my FOV is down somehow. i'm just used to faster movement so i can check everywhere all the time and it's probably the opposite for console where you're used to slower movement but the mouse makes you use your whole arm. just abt what you're used to you know. i think objectively mnk is better for aiming because you can go from precise to quick movements in seconds depending on if you're aiming with your arm or with your elbow, but a lot of people grow up on console and the switch to mnk is extremely daunting. my dad also got into pc gaming when we bought it for minecraft and at first he only played with a controller hooked up but i convinced him to try mnk and he hasn't looked back anyways idk wtf this rant was it's 2:30 am
Pc players need to understand we need to stop aiming to jump, stop moving to interact, and it’s impossible to play echo. 100% skill issue if you lose to a console player because it’s HARDER to play consol
I played OW on Switch after 200+ hours on PC and the aim assist, while it did help me hit my shots, made it much harder to hit what I wanted to be aiming at. I tried playing some hanzo and obviously went for the support but my aim kept getting yanked from me and went to hit the tank. And even if that didn't happen trying to lead shots while your aim is being "corrected" is not fun
The device someone uses does NOT determine their skill level. Game sense does in almost every single game. A PC player who is a high rank Tekken player won’t do the same with an arcade stick but he/she would still know what to whiff punish. A new device will always require relearning but the knowledge of the player is still intact.

That is not true
It is easier to play with mnk, but it’s not impossible to aim without aim assist on controller
@Ale not impossible but in a fast paced game like ow it makes it significantly harder, hints why they said almost impossible
its not really the bare minimum at all, a new player having aim assist instantly has better aim than the extreme large majority of new pc players, even pc players who have been playing mouse and keyboard for quite some time
This guy killed it here 13:50, you can't say you're the "superior" plataform, and then suddenly says "Oh, but if I loose to you, that's because of your aim assist"

I thought aim assist is not in competitive when paired with PC people
@@BMed. Who said it wasnt?
Even on the helping end, it’s just 100 times easier on m+k. Notas point on using sticks vs a mouse to aim is so big

NotaCanadian out here spitting straight facts
Bruh, they're not the same
If you ever had played on M&K and controller on consoles, you know MK have a LOT more sensitivity settings then controllers, it's not the "same" thing, that's a reason why Top 500 it's full of MK players even though console players have aim assist, that's because even with aim assist, you can't get closer to MK privileges and advantages towards console players
PC players think aim assist is like using soldiers ult which its obviously not lol
Based take, it's why trying to hit gm as echo on console has be the hardest thing I've ever done in overwatch and I've played it on both pc and console, and I love a challenge so the funnest I've ever had in ow has been playing echo on console, I'm masters 3 atm and I noticed teams just go full hitscan and theres almost nothing I can do sometimes but now when I go over to pc again I find hitscan so much easier to deal with as echo, and I can even play echo with my buddy in pc diamond lobbies using a controller and actually carry 😂

i'm a Console player turned PC player recently
Question 1: was never GM so I can't speak on this.
Question 4: yes, PC is superior, I think on PC the skill ceiling is much higher. not to even get to being able to optimise the settings. the amount of times I've been killed by a rat hiding in a bush just to be annoying, when on PC i have details set to low and these bushes don't even appear on my screen
Question 5: I think a console OWL would be cool. but there shouldn't be a mix. it would be too much of a mechanical limitation.
Question 6: 100% skill issue. I have lost to a few console players on Quick Play. And I believe "skill issue" encompasses game sense and positioning as its a skill you learn. If I lose to a controller player, then its just a lack of skill on my end and the other player is just better.

The people who disagreed with the last one honestly are just coping imo. Overwatch is a game about many things, aim being one of the least important ones when it comes to positioning, game knowledge, and movement. Just because a console player has aim assist, does not make it any less of a skill issue that you lose a 1v1 to them.

Notacanadian ate Jix up over console vs PC skill issue
I played Overwatch 1 almost entirely on PC, I bought it there because I figured PC would by far have the largest playerbase, and since there was no crossplay at the time I worried the console versions might be dead within a year or two like so many other shooters. I had very little experience playing shooters on PC going in, but put in several hundred hours and feel like I got pretty good. As for Overwatch 2, I have played it entirely on Xbox Series X so far. In total my profile says I have over 700 hours of combined playtime between the two games. My thoughts on some of these:
-Hitscan weapons are definitely easier than projectile, regardless of PC or console, imo.
But this is speaking from personal experience.
fr, the aim assist feels like I'm fighting with an uncontrollable magnet rather than an assistant lol
love this! it would be interesting to see one with strictly just quick play players
Lmao that’s me (except for the once a season competitive game)
@vola-2899 look, I found the pc player 🤡
In the last Hot Take, there is a whole lot of gray area which makes it hard to decide if it's really a skill issue and makes it more of a pros & cons debate. Jix is fixated on console's small leverage of Aim Assist and having to put less effort in human-precision input could factor the win no matter how small the percentage. While NotACanadian states the PC player's specs as numerous pros, it doesn't indicate they don't place in any effort in precision as well. When Consoles having simple limitations and PC having open complexity, each has their own difficulty but you can label them with pros and cons
My Take: Skill is not entirely the issue
Good show btw
Sure but if the console player just ended up having better game sense and positioning, it’s still a skill issue.
Wow what a great concept I’m hooked!
You could legit make any Jubilee concept in Overwatch. Like holy shit I’m getting so excited just thinking about it!
I feel like odd man out could also be fun especially.
Damn what a great video! I really hope this goes viral
I play on console and find hitscan easier, than projectile
yeah i think hitscan is easier just because its the traditional way to play an fps. more consistent unless youre full on practicing projectile heroes. im a console player as well
you should do one with most hated characters think the same
like sombra and mei players think the same cause like they are the players that i think get the most hate.
Mei isnt annoying at all?? Who said that. I see why people would despise Sombra tho she literally makes me want to uninstall sometimes.
@@sendhelplea Many people have talked about Mei being really annoying to deal with, although mostly from her original kit from the original Overwatch. Though she can earn her team very quick kills a little too easily.
Jix is Salty about Aim Assist lol
I stand with NotaCanadian. Real shit.
I’ve got a good hot take:
Often times, I end up being disconnected because of servers, which is one of the main issues with the game that needs to be fixed.
I haven't had that happen in 6 months.
Never stop making these 🙏
As a PC player, I 100% agree with notacanadian on that last question.
Omegalul
Especially if we are talking 1v1 on Lijiang or mirrored 1v1 mode. Thats straight up skill issue.
This guy NotaCanadian had a really good point tho
I've never played a keyboard and mouse game before, swapped form Xbox to PC was diamond everything, within 300 hours I was masters everything. I promise you PC is easier. You don't have casual players or people who are horrendous on your team, aiming is easier, and no ximers
That dudes point about console siege is funnily enough the reason I quit that game and tried out overwatch, the game is less aim intensive and more about controlling cool downs and counter picks kinda like LoL.
I'd honestly deal with a hacker then a Xim keyboard cheater, at least I would know I couldn't win no matter what and be less upset with myself-
And then there are the people that try to defend it isn't cheating, using a third party application that isn't normally availing to everyone who plays, in specific ideal to have an unfair competitive edge, is cheating and there is no way to defend it.
I always love getting to watch your videos first thing in the morning when I wake up! ❤
If a controller player beats me in a overwatch 1v1 I’ve lost due to a skill issue.
pc players give aim assist way too much credit, we use our thumbs to aim, you have your whole arms
Tbh apex legends AA= good
Overwatch= AA for me especially bc i have yhe window setup to small Non existent but i like it more
that NotACanadian guy was cooking.
Nota is BASED
you should do this same video idea but with questions targeted towards certain characters and people who main them, like rein mains and genji mains sort of thing!
17:00 it's crazy that people will get so butthurt over someone typing "skill issue"
i just wanna say that i appreciate how none of the people who disagreed with the statement "pc is superior to console" did so bc they thought console was superior, but rather bc they felt the two methods were equal.
The people who say aim assist is aimbot just can’t accept the fact that there are good console players in the world
I played console from launch til this January when I switched to PC.
This is so interesting to watch
I mainly play on console, I have my entire life, and I recently got a PC about 9 months ago, and I CANNOT play the game for the life of me. I just one trick Mercy on PC cause I can’t remember the controls well enough to focus on aiming at anything XDDDDD
I have to use a controller on pc or I hard feed lol highly recommend doing that too
frr I main ashe on console with golden gun and now on PC I look like I've never even played the game
Aside from that, it just takes time and practice to get used to keyboard and mouse, but once you understand it you will be golden.
As someone who used to be a console player I will say PC is much easier and fun for me now but I'll never forget my console D. va maining days
In terms of which is better, what I've noticed as a pc player, when I queue with my friend on console, we absolutely roll the enemy most of the time.
Omg I loved this, keep it up 👍
someone who has many many hours on console and pc, notacanadian argument was top notch
Great series! Subbed to see more
This was my most anticipated episode.
the part with the financial availability was a bit crazy to me. in my country a pc is soooo much cheaper than almost any newish console
where the fuck do you live pc parts are a million dollars rn, most pcs that can run games will be around 1k and that's lowballing it idek how good that's gonna run games. most consoles r around 500$
NotaCanadian was cooking at 13:50
Why do they treat aim assist like it’s aimbot?
I just use my thumb and pinky to move my mouse lol
Something I havent seen mentioned is the fact that console only gets aim assist in console only lobbies in ranked, which isnt very common, so I and probably a fair number of of other console players turn their aim assist off or atleast down so they dont lean on aim assist. On the other hand, plenty of console players keep their aim assist on 100 %, so it it fustrating going against a max aim assist hitscan without aim assist yourself on console.
You get it in any unranked pc lobby’s, that was changed a little while ago.
then dont turn off aim assist if its an advantage?
It only happens in quick play and as a console player, it barely helps me lol. It's more like a way to help gyro controls look less nauseous than anything else
This was actually a really good episode honestly better than the show it looks like it might be based off of lol
I scratch my head when aim assist is brought up as an issue, considering the huge mechanical disadvantage console has to pc.
some of us just have most of our friends playing on console and only know how to play with a controller so that's what we are comfortable with
but I will say with lucio aiming and shooting you have to change your buttons for him
not everyone using there ults at the end.
the fucking *nya* at 9:18 killed me
Glad you enjoyed my very spot on cat impression 😎
It is a skill issue! same as losing to Moira as DPS :D
I like this content, keep it up, specially whit rank variety.
It’s kind of disheartening that xim usage wasn’t mentioned as it’s not talked about enough.
what is xim
@@katerinagagne1809 it’s an adapter that goes into the back of the console. It allows you to use mouse and keyboard on console while also having aim assist on the mouse and keyboard. It’s a huge issue that gets exponentially worse the higher you go up.
I played with controller in pc, no aim assist (I didnt even know it was a thing until I switched to console and seeing that the reticle moved a bit), beating pc players and then played in console and the only thing that felt different was that the reticle moved a bit I didn't know what it was until I went back to pc and were dogs*it at the game and then noticed the aim asisst thing, I didn't suddenly became God, I literally stayed in the same rank as I was on pc, I think aim assist the only thing that it does is changing the way you aim and you can be better (in controller) without the assist if you are more comfortable without it
It’s so weird that PC players think aim assist is an auto lock feature
Sometimes I wish aim assist could be turned off. It's not that strong. Unless you're aiming at Immortality Field. In which case it will do a full on streamline upwards
You can turn it off in the settings its in the advanced settings for sensitivity
Like the above guy said, Advanced Setting allows you to turn it off or at least reduce it significantly. Since you haven’t looked at it before, I highly recommend changing the default aim type to one of the other 2. Personality I like *Linear Rammed* aim type.
@@mangasaint Linear Ramp is my fav too!
i play on console sometimes with my friend who doesnt have pc and tbh i dont think console players think at all, it is whole different vibe to pc even in higher ranks people just play to chill
Which attacker spawn? Both attack on New Queen's Street
While you do need mechanical skill for good 180s on pc imagine controlling your character on a joystick that rotates, thus making aiming not linear like a mouse where it's moved along a 2d plane
Nebulas a mercy main
Also coming from apex legends I promise AA in overwatch is nothing compared to apex and apex barely did anything.
Lmao jix shaking his head
Such great discussion!❤❤
Pc players need to understand we need to stop aiming to jump, stop moving to interact, and it’s impossible to play echo. 100% skill issue if you lose to a console player because it’s HARDER to play consol
I played OW on Switch after 200+ hours on PC and the aim assist, while it did help me hit my shots, made it much harder to hit what I wanted to be aiming at. I tried playing some hanzo and obviously went for the support but my aim kept getting yanked from me and went to hit the tank. And even if that didn't happen trying to lead shots while your aim is being "corrected" is not fun
This has nothing to do with the video, but the Nintendo BrainAge music is giving me such nostalgia 😭
The device someone uses does NOT determine their skill level. Game sense does in almost every single game. A PC player who is a high rank Tekken player won’t do the same with an arcade stick but he/she would still know what to whiff punish. A new device will always require relearning but the knowledge of the player is still intact.
Daans (ex Paris eternal) was number 1 on console before switching to PC and become pro...
