    I used to have a Toyota Celica like yours. Bought it brand new back in October 2000. Had it until March 2006 when a bus crashed into it and it was written off. Still have fond memories of it.

    I got a 2003 celica gt and it drives great at 150000 miles on it, only issue is a sensor on the engine goes on and off but nothing that is actually a problem. paid only 2800 for it and never regretted it.

    • @LoyaFrostwind

      Check Engine Light is only a problem if you're in California (smog test required every 2 years). It usually indicates something askew with the emissions system.

    nice review. i bought a celica yesterday .great styling and drives really well. in the uk we have the 6speed manual as standard. nice gearbox. found your vids whilst checking out celica stuff. keep em coming. vvti 140 up till 2002 has high oil consumption problems so just keep an eye on the dipstick. dont wait until oil light flashes,its too late then. mines a 2001 so il be checking oil frequently.

      its a known fault with the cars built up until 2001 .not a major issue if you keep on top of it. regular oil changes and weekly top ups. cars after 2001 should have no issues. it doesnt worry me too much tho. thanks

    Nice car. My daily driver is a used 2015 Toyota Camry XSE ( 4 cylinder engine & 6 speed automatic with manual shift ability and paddle shifters ), I got it in 2018. It’s technically my parents car but I make insurance payments and I keep it maintained. The 4 cylinder with the 6speed automatic is pretty zippy especially if you use the manual shift mode, it has a roomy interior and the trunk fits everything I currently have in it, my tools, fishing pole and tackle box, and a few other things, and it’s got folded if rear seats. The Camry I drive is great for what it is, just what I need in a car for right now, a typical used Camry for daily driving.

    Nice car though!

    • @UpshiftUnlimited
      @UpshiftUnlimited  8 років тому

      Hey! I did have to stick my key into the handle up until a few weeks ago actually, when I realized that the key fob that I got with the car from the last owner still actually worked. However, it's an aftermarket fob, so it's weird haha. But I do use the fob now all the time which makes life much easier! Highly recommend you get an aftermarket transmitter, it's a big help! And thank you!! Best of luck!

    Hey man, great video especially since I'm considering picking up a celica myself. I just had one question, what is that pioneer head unit that you have in the car? because the radio/sound system is one of the first things I will most likely upgrade. Also, are there any affordable modifications that can strengthen performance that you recommend? Thank you very much. Great video btw

    • @UpshiftUnlimited
      @UpshiftUnlimited  8 років тому

      Hey thank you so much!
      Funny you ask that, I'm planning on making a review for my pioneer head unit very soon actually! Anyway, it's a double din FH-X700BT head unit. Check online for that model, or stores like Best Buy have the updated version! (Although I like my model the best :P)
      As for other modifications, I honestly haven't done that many for performance. Most of the changes I've made are purely cosmetic. Hopefully if the channel starts to grow I can do some real performance upgrades.
      Thanks for your questions, and good luck with your car purchase!

      found out the front bumper is damaged...ever use a body kit for this car? Ebay has an OEM that is painted for $250ish but that back bumper is really faded as well. I can't pay $3500 for that and there are only 3 in the LA area to look at. How about parts?

    • @UpshiftUnlimited
      @UpshiftUnlimited  7 років тому

      Jeff Porcaro Groove I don't have a body kit on mine but I know that there are lots of different styles all over the Internet. I'd see if you can haggle the price down a bit, and use that extra money for both bumpers or a full kit.

    Underrated sports car
    Only 2425 lbs in this GT form
    Perfect for a turbo add-on to 250HP or so
    It's FWD, so there is only so much you can do for the power.

    • @UpshiftUnlimited

      My odometer is actually broken lol so I'd guess it has about 165K miles, and gas mileage is between 27/34 city/hwy I'd say! Not sure about those numbers though since I can't test it haha

      Usually 29 miles per gallon average street and highway combined. I got up 38miles per gallon on a road trip from San Francisco to Los Angeles (mostly highway).

    • @MotionBlurDevelopment
      @MotionBlurDevelopment 7 років тому

      i recently fixed the oil problem, but i got bad news. The only way to stop oil consumption is a full engine rebuild. you need to change all gaskets and piston rings. cost : more than 1000$. it's better to buy a gts or a 2003 celica gt as they have no problems. it worked alright for me as i got the car 2000eur under the average price.

      +Christian Garcia since it's a Toyota, maintenance is really easy! Just take care of it, wash it when you can, do your oil changes when you need to, and it'll treat you just fine. Basic care is all you really need, so it's cheap!

      The Celica Guy so i can say it gets 7l per 100km... looool... i think this is my next car... my BMW e46 318i 2.0 143PS gets 10l (2,7 galons per 100km) .. this is very economic car if we speak about sport/coupe cars..and it have 140PS... just line mine...
