I know I’m late…. like a whole year late 😂 but I still want to “Thank you” for this wonderful tutorial, this is the best!!! Creating something is one thing, teaching the same effectively is another and you are great in both. Loved your color combinations.
Trimming the geese blocks up, in the sides- I align the 3 and 1/4" line on the ruler in the center of the goose triangle point and a straight line on the bottom edge of the goose block. Comes out centered and perfectly measured to 6 1/2" long. This is what works for my brain.
Thank you for your input! I enjoy listening to you and your instructions! Pleasant voice and gentle kind way about you that helps one to stay connected without being overwhelmed or get tired. Keep up the Excellent demonstrations!
I love your tutorials I have learn many tips. I was a quilter and had a stroke so for 2 years I haven’t been able to do anything, so this great for me. Greetings from Switzerland
Thank you for taking the time to cut the goose block with a regular lined ruler. With sizes that don't fit the available geese rulers, your explanation on how to trim makes it so much easier to be confident on cutting and "squaring" the goose block.
Thank you for all your tutorials they are so very helpful. I just want to let you know you are so beautiful and you put such a beautiful smile on your face and I can tell you love what you do.
You went to far with the HAMMER! Now, I am forced to use my HAMMER and crushed some Graham Crackers...couple of spoons of peanut butter roll them up...dip in WHITE chocolate for contrast and nibble. That is one beautiful precise block!!!!!
Hi I am new to quilting and I have been watching lots of different videos. I really enjoy your way of describing everything you do and I love your voice , easy for an Aussie to understand.Thank you ! Susan
So happy the series has begun. Ive never made a flying goose before but your instructions are quite clear. Just need to decide which size to go with - so many choices in my stash🤪 TFS
Thank you for doing this series. Breaking down the block and optimizing as much of a precut is definitely a plus. Your camera is amazing and the quality 😍.
Your videos never disappoint. I've been waiting for this one since you posted the intro for this series. It was a ton of fun to watch with my morning coffee!
Just started making baby quilts for Project Linus UK and the standard size is 36 inch by 36 inch, so one of these Big Blocks at 32 inches square with a couple of 2 inch borders would make a very nice baby quilt all by itself. Thanks for this one!
Thank you so much for the free download. Your instruction is clear and right to the point.. no guessing here.. I look forward to your videos and appreciate your help.. Stay safe
Just discovered your channel (have already subscribed), and this series is awesome! I have a few treasured fabrics I don’t want to cut up into teeny pieces, will be trying these big blocks 😊
It’s an adjustable seam guide that screws onto my machine. It’s really nice because it swings out of the way when I need a little more room. www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-adjustable-seam-guide.html
Its Megan :). I try to put a little nametag thing in my videos but I often forget! 😂. I'm so glad you like the videos and patterns--I'm having a lot of fun making them for everyone :)
Thank you! The seam guide is this: www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-adjustable-seam-guide.html There is another seam guide out there that doesn't swing away but I prefer this one since you can get a little room to sew something bigger without having to unscrew it from the machine.
I think it is made specifically for juki but it might fit any machine that has the screw holes in the throat. There are also magnetic seam guides that work on almost any machine. I definitely love having it there! Here is the link to the one I have: www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-adjustable-seam-guide.html?gclid=CjwKCAjw5cL2BRASEiwAENqAPpP0utbKaDVQXQm1bppBwAo7S-Eu6CtynLhFFx18CSEd0qNVL7_nOxoCz2wQAvD_BwE
Yes! I’m so sorry-I just realized I didn’t have the attachment properly uploaded into my shop for free download. If you were one of the first to “purchase” it (it is a free listing, of course), I sent you an email with the attachment. The link in the description should now be working normally!

Love the tip with the hammer. Thanks

God bless you. You are such a wonderful teacher!
There is a special place in heaven for the genius who developed this method and your explanation is excellent!
Yes!! There certainly is. Whoever they are/were, they are a genius for sure

Great job on this video. Thank you for breaking down these classic blocks.

Great explanations on doing this block. You make it quite understandable for beginners like me.
This is the best tutorial I’ve seen in making and squaring up the flying goose block
Thank you!! That is such a lovely compliment :)

I’m so excited! Flying geese are a favorite of mine!
Your instructions are great! Looking forward to this series! You are right this block is perfect for big prints!
Thanks so much! And yes-big prints can be so hard to work with! I love the big spaces in big blocks for all the quilting room too!
You need to make shirts that say "There are no quilt police" 🤣 ❤️
I am so glad to have discovered you. I love your tutorials 😊👍❤️
Thank you for doing this series. Breaking down the block and optimizing as much of a precut is definitely a plus. Your camera is amazing and the quality 😍.

Aww! Thank you so much!! That is the sweetest thing to say!

Great! I love a big block baby quilt :) there’s something adorable about a tiny baby in a giant quilt block :)
very nice proficient presentation

Thank you for your prompt response. Looking forward to be able to download the pattern soon. Thank you again ☺️

Thank you so much for watching!
Great format, thinking about a sampler from all the blocks. Thanks for taking the time . Stay safe.
Thank you! I’m still debating what to do with my blocks. Maybe I’ll finally make that king size quilt I’ve been talking about for years! 😂
Thanks for the pattern and tutorial!
Such a well-done explanatio!! Thank you. I especially appreciated the pressing ideas.
I'm so glad you liked it :)
Very good tutorial!
That glorious fussy cut goose at 10:11 👏👏😍
Totally by chance! I wish I was better at planning for fussy cutting 😂
Just discovered your channel (have already subscribed), and this series is awesome! I have a few treasured fabrics I don’t want to cut up into teeny pieces, will be trying these big blocks 😊
Thank you so much!! I have another video in the works for this series right now! :)
I really enjoy your style -- also loved your jelly roll pattern -very cute and size adjustable - I have subscribed
"There are no quilt police" 🤣👮♀️👍
I love using a hammer to flatten the block! 😆
Its really pretty fun :)
Reduce bulk by cutting the tips where they meet in the middle of the big square so they don't overlap. :)
Thanks so much for your videos. You explain every step so well. What is the seam guide you are using?

Nice
I love your channel. Thank you for all of this great info and FREE PATTERNS!! I have just one question...what is your name??
Its Megan :). I try to put a little nametag thing in my videos but I often forget! 😂. I'm so glad you like the videos and patterns--I'm having a lot of fun making them for everyone :)
Has anyone had a problem with friction pen markings coming back? Other than having the quilt out on a snowy day?
I am excited for your next block study....😁is it coming soon??
It’s coming next week! I liked this block so much I made a whole quilt top from it!
Yay! Can't wait ❣
Thanks for the instructions. But, I ended up with 4 of my 8 flying geese having an "unsewn" seam near the point. What did I do wrong?
Thats very strange! I've never had that happen before since the tip is usually in the center of the sewing. hmm....let me think on that!
Wonderful videos! Can you tell me what the brand of the seam guide you use is?
Thank you! The seam guide is this: www.kenssewingcenter.com/juki-adjustable-seam-guide.html
There is another seam guide out there that doesn't swing away but I prefer this one since you can get a little room to sew something bigger without having to unscrew it from the machine.
Tiny Orchard Quilts thank you so much!
Nice video. I love gadgets, so I would like to know about your swing away 1/4" guide. Is that specific to your machine or could I find that elsewhere?
I think it is made specifically for juki but it might fit any machine that has the screw holes in the throat. There are also magnetic seam guides that work on almost any machine. I definitely love having it there!

Thank you for your tutorials. Is there an easy way to download the free pattern?
Yes! I’m so sorry-I just realized I didn’t have the attachment properly uploaded into my shop for free download. If you were one of the first to “purchase” it (it is a free listing, of course), I sent you an email with the attachment. The link in the description should now be working normally!
I am trying to find the free pdf of the pattern. Can you help?
Can you tell me the name/manufacturer of the gold/black geometric designed fabric you were using for this block, please?
Sure! It’s from the “redux” line by guicy guice. I love his lines and how they all work so nicely together!
I can't figure out how to get the PDF for Dutchman's Puzzle. I need some guidance.
tinyorchardquilts.com/products/dutchmans-puzzle-block-study
Here is the link! You just need to add it to your cart and checkout. It’s free though :)
Sorry to bother you but still couldn't download the free pattern.
Oh no! If you email me at Megan @ tinyorchardquilts I’ll send it back with the attachment.
No, but plenty of subscribers and commenters who think they are!
Thank you. Sometimes you talk too fast. I have to stop the video to process.
