I think you can fight this kind of art direction by not letting society tell you what is valuable but by deciding for yourself
yes, but then you would have to think for yourself, and who wants to do that?!
It's criminal how this channel doesn't have a bigger following
The dog made of flowers that never dies is genuinely a very good art piece tho.
ngl I felt the same way. the rest of the art in this was lackluster but for some reason the flower dog stood out. very visually striking, somewhat nice to look at, and you could probably make some compelling interpretations.
@@tullus.aufidius The thing where it has its own irrigation system so it's immortal was the coolest part for me.
That is probably my favorite of Jeff Koons. I like the stainless steel rabbit and that's about it.
Me and my roommate had the same conversation while I was editing this. I think because it's a public work that can't be bought or sold and that it uses flowers as its medium so it has an objective beauty to it. Wish the rest of his works followed a similar logic but this one seems to stand alone.
Smugly saying "art is subjective" to immediately refute any criticisms of my meaningless contemporary art. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have a cheque for 50 billion dollars from money launderers to cash."
Great work Content Jones
Its balloonin time and then he heliumed everywhere
You're right this kind of art is not about taste or meaning it's a commodity to represent and show off your wealth. That's why it's so popular with new money and hotels. It's about the aesthetic of wealth not the artistic value.
Koons work in the palace of Versailles is great cus it’s a visual representation of the mercantile class overtaking the aristocracy. I’m positive he is unaware of that, and that kind of makes it better
absolutely phenomenal video! truly obsessed, looking forward to more :)
how is this just 1.2 k views?! wtf !remind me 2 years.. if i could invest in this i would $$$$$$$$. keep up the work ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
only Art Chad can provide a competitive ROI when compared to other red chip youtubers.
(what's the song at the end?)

Search shoegaze on soundcloud and use the filter "free to use commercially"
I have a whole folder of royalty free shoegaze.
i kinda admire the people who actually created a giant balloon dog out of stainless steel, it is impressive especially with those massive ones. also its pretty funny to think about that being someones job
I love your videos!!
Amazing video!
Seen that sculpture so many times, interesting to know about the man and culture behind it
speaking directly from my heart! thank you!
Paul verilio art speed and cinematic energy book...noted this all back in the 80$
Great Video!
Yep he's a salesman, his only art.
Before I click the video I knew it was about Jeff Koons. Book of Isaiah style
Venn diagram of the intersection between "financial success" and "it's not art". Prevailing rhetoric is that artists need to be starving and living in someones attic churning out self loathing miserable works and then die for their output to be canonized after the dealers swoop in. The idea that he or anyone using studio assistants somehow removes credence from the final result is also derp. That practice goes back for as long as time if you consider the split categorization of artisans and fine art only being a relatively new concept in the scheme of things. Jeff Koons makes art. Its just not art that you or I could ever afford to purchase, much like most contemporary art.
genius absolutely genius
this is a goof; well made video imo
Jeff Koons is very non-threatening "fake contemporary art" for mainly new money and people who know nothing about art and think that they are special just because they can afford it. I do like just a couple of pieces he has done but for the most part it's really bad. His "art" is just a few steps away from Thomas Kinkade.
anyone know the outro song name?
I thought it was gonna be about blitzkriega for a moment
haha great work, pretty funny
came here from the 6ftapartpodcast
It's funny that when you say we live in decadent times, you put bubble tea as an example alongside vape and porn. The old-looking cabin is also funny.
I've been listening to a lot of John Vervaeke lately, who's attacking the problem of meaning in the modern era.
With the advent of AI, we may be inventing meaning generating machines. Or new deities. We also need to think real hard about what sort of meanings we want to give them, or those which they give us.
koons is an art genius starting with the BS vacuum cleaner sculptures they were literally vacuum cleaners. You said it he is a CEO of an art corporation still sucking in wealthy clients.
as far as im concerned if you dont even create "your" art its not yours
bruh
You all do realise the ex wife with whom he (Koons) had a child with, claimed some pretty disturbing things right? Like the things he did to their son while they were alone
I think most of Jeff Koons' stuff looks childish and tacky.
Totally agree with everything but lay off my man beeple
beauty? what are you, a Stuckist? beauty is relative and who are you to say there is no meaning in the art beyond being a placeholder for capital? are you sure you went to art school? most of your videos are very good but this one misses. better research next time. call it entry level art with not much meaning beyond basic things like identity but to say there is no meaning is silly. it may not be sophisticated enough for your experienced palate but many museums and art historians would strongly disagree with your assessment of it only being about money. its clearly not
You know ball
