I watched the HOLES too many to count, I have a DVD of it and always watched it as a kid and understood more things as I grew up. I really love the 00s audio and its effects the shovel noise the sound of touches and close up of different things in the movie. For me it is a timeless classic.
I really like Horimiya. Its easily one of my favourite romance animes and has a really solid set of characters, interesting stories and developments between the characters and a solid premise.

I think Joey was mostly talking about the manga for it, in the manga there were like 60 to 70 side characters chapters which got kinda boring after a while plus nothing much really happened in them. Imo the anime made it so that it didn't drag on too long but still kept most, if not all, of the good parts in it.

While I certainly do understand where you’re coming from, personally I absolutely adored Horimiya. I can see how it can feel boring to some people, but that pure, wholesome slice of life was just amazing for me. I do like shonen anime, but that kind of just slice of life and romance just works for me and it’s my favorite genre of anime. I really liked how they made hori and miyamura actually feel like normal teenagers and how they were able to get together without having to go through a season’s worth of chase fluff. I liked how they integrated their relationship as a part of their characters and their interactions without out feeling unnatural and it focused on a part of the relationship beyond just the chase that so few anime represent. It’s probably also why some of my favorite animanga series are Horimiya, Wotakoi, and even Love is War to an extent, because they are more than just the chase and also they are just a wholesome fun time. I can appreciate and enjoy high stakes and fast paced action as well as heart wrenching dramas and everything in between, but this kind of just slice of life is definitely my favorite.

I think Horimiya differs from the rest by its storytelling nature; most romance stuff has only 1 lead but interestingly horimiya has 4; each is a representation of a different type of 'love' this includes the familiar bonds as well. in this way horimiya has a different flavor. oh f.ck comment section doesn't satisfy me anymore :D I'll start a channel :D
