Three songs by Lennon with varying degrees of pain expressed so well: 1. Working Class Hero, 2. Mother, 3. Cold Turkey
I agree. Jay and Amber should also hear that side of him too.
which one is about the pain from coward lennon beating on his women? ..yep...
see, some people worship woman beaters, (weird pathetic, .and sad)..
I guess it is all how you were raised...see.,, like most men who beat women,
they were raised witnessing domestic violence
...if you saw your mama get beat up alot, you probably give lennon A pass ..
but if you never saw your mama get whooped all the time, you probably DETEST cowardly woman beaters, like lennon and would certainly never , ever praise one or hold them in high regard. Lennon and Gary Glitter fans are very similar.
thank goodness instant karma put down that cowardly dog in the street .lol
@@KenRoerden me too! Especially Working Class hero and Mother... They got a bit of the Cold Turkey vibe via Yer Blues
I agree completly
Yes, I said said the same thing. Hit a few from Plastic Ono Band. Add God to that list, still gives me chills to this day.
One reason John Lennon is so missed is that there is no voice today that is saying quite these same things. "Love is the answer," "faith in the future," "raising the spirit of peace and love" - where is that kind of hope and leadership in pop culture today? Whether from a musician, movie star, TV personality, or internet influencer, you just don't hear these sentiments anymore.
Yep, you're exactly right. Think Amber nailed it with John being someone who was sent to this earth to spread love & peace.☮️
Ringo picked the mantle from John and talks love and peace daily, and always at his All Star shows.
Number 9 dream by John Lennon is one of the most beautiful songs. He has ever written
I agree.
Love the Beatles Love John Lennon if only that day never happened , please listen to Julian Lennon charity version of Imagine it’s amazing , bless you both for loving these four guys from Liverpool 💙💙💙💙 as a group and individuals xx
Amazingly dreamy tune... Such great production and sound!
Ah! Bowakawa, pousse pousse
Yes!
I think if more people would listen to these old songs, they'd remember a time when kindness was the key to happiness. ❤
The hippy happiness John Lennon espoused was just fake postmodern drivel. Destructive and perverted godless rubbish
That's true, I'me bored of hearing lyrics that are ugly and violent
Traduction en français
The Vietnam war was going strong when this came out, real kind times 😁
Love is the answer.
“Putting our soul power to the karmic wheel”, what an artist, John Lennon was 1 of 1 ❤❤
"Millions of mind guerrillas"!
One the most beautiful songs by Lennon
So missed John Lennon. Left us too soon
Rest in peace, John.
Way too soon.
The Beatles were the most influential artists of all time. The fact that their message was LOVE is phenomenal. They could have told the young people of the world that anything ..standing on your head... was the answer. But John Lennon chose to say LOVE is all you need. They didn't waste their time and their fame on trivial things. They didn't sell seats on BOAC airlines. They didn't sell Coka-Cola or Ford Mustangs like Namcy Sinatra. They stayed positive and sold PEACE in a time of WAR. As the song fades, John sings "I want you to make love, not war. I know you've heard it before." Throughout the song he keep reminding us that we already know this stuff and it's not hard, in fact it's surrender "You gotta let it go"
Well Said dogstar7
John Lennon "Nobody Told Me" ❤
Siiiii
Every time I hear John Lennon, I feel so sad that this genius was stolen from us all, so early into what he was offering us all in his solo career. My mind wonders as to what he would have produced and the amazing songs we've all missed out on. RIP FOREVER JOHN.
My favorite John quote was after he won his immigration case - he said “Time wounds all heels.”
👍In reference to President Nixon resigning the office in the Watergate aftermath. Nixon tried hard to get him deported.
@@dantallman5345 In the documentary I think he was specifically referring to Arlen Spector, but I could be wrong.
That pun dates back to before John was born.
😂
"Turn left at Greenland"
Jay & Amber, you'll Love his "Whatever Gets You thru the Night"!!!!
Along with Elton John!
with piano and backing vocals from Elton John! And a great saxophone from Bobby Keys from the Stones
I can only feel sadness when I listen to this track. John was so obviously adapting to a new stage in his life and he was so close to finally getting some peace and reconciliation with the rest of the world. The world was robbed of his potential and we have been much worse without his presence. ✌️
Listen to Lucky Ones by Julian Lennon and watch the video too. Amazing
I'm 63 and I can remember listening to this song on my AM/FM stereo as I was going to sleep
That was 50 years ago.
I'm glad I got to experience the 70s rock-'n'-roll decade
Best time to be alive, for a teenager.
Amen ....i saved it for later
Now the world is horrible...who's the President? 😢😮
John Lennon was: a character, an enigma, a complicated person... spiritual, intelligent, insightful... a true artist, a musical genius, and a flawed human being. A humanist. Forget educational degrees, these are the best qualities any one individual could ever possess.
And he was an Avatar.
@@patrickquinlan3056
Indeed he was.
I play "Beautiful Boy" for my son every birthday the last 16 yrs. Mind Games what a great tune. Rock on Rob Squad
Yes! I know everyone goes crazy for Imagine but I love this one so much. This, Number 9 Dream and Instant Karma.
I heard a really great quote from John years ago that I don’t have the context for now but here is what I found:
The complete quote from John Lennon is: "I can't wake you up. You can wake you up. I can't cure you. You can cure you." It's a powerful message about self-awareness and personal responsibility.
It’s time for more people to hear No. 9 Dream - an under appreciated gem from John Lennon.
I love John forever! 1.He said he was born to be a New Yorker. 2.A teacher gave him an assignment as a young boy. She said to write what you what to be when you grow up. John Lennon wrote Happy. She told him he didn't understand the assignment. ( I think he did!) He always wanted Peace and Happiness.3. Check out his son Sean Lennon doing his Dad's song Isolation on you tube,I love it, John would be proud of his Beautiful Boy!!!❤
Julian Lennon's songs are amazing too. Especially 2022's "Lucky Ones"
Terrible that such an advocate for peace died such a violent death. I could've taken a health related death but not the way he died. Sorry, but I just wish he hadn't made New York his home. I believe we would've enjoyed his talents for at least another 30 years. We were robbed of an amazing talent .
@@pauldunn5978No one is safe in NYC there is a lot of crime now and the politicians don’t care 😢
Mother, is a song that you can fill his pain of growing up without parents. I think he wrote it for closure. Must listen.
John Lennon at 8 or 9 was asked by his teacher -------what do you want to be when you are older? The teacher brought in his mom and said he completely did not understand the question. His mom asked how he answered. His answer..... HAPPY.
Amber, what a beautiful soul you are. You absolutely should have been born in the 1950's!!!
The shot of the ladder in the video represents the first time John met Yoko. It was at the Indica gallery, where she was having an art exhibition. At the top of the ladder there was tiny writing on the ceiling that you needed the hanging magnifying glass to read. It said one word, Yes. John saw this, was intrigued, sought out the artist, Yoko, and the rest is history…☮️❤️
" Yes is the answer "
He was drawn to it because it was a positive message.
And as I recall, he said if it said “no” he might not have been interested in her, or at least her art. There was a lot of pessimism in the creative world as we steamed toward the ‘70s. I’m glad someone else recalled that story and that exhibit.
John was by far the greatest and most talented Beatle. He stood for more than just his music❤
Another beautiful song from Lennon. 😊 playin’ those mind games…
John was longing for a more peaceful world. His later works reflected this. Mind Games, Give Peace a Chance, Instant Karma, Imagine
And then there was the John Lennon who called Dick Cavett a fag on national television
Amber not just an empath, a time traveler, but a thoughtful one. She gets things that happened way before her time, of which music seems to be the ultimate conduit.
This has gotta be my favorite solo Lennon song
Being almost 70 (June) and growing up with the Beatles and loving their solo careers too, I have to say John Lennon's songs are the ones that really tear at my heart. No 9 Dreams, Working Class Hero, Stand By Me, Jealous Guy, MInd Games etc. Maybe because the Beatles songs where he was lead singer also left such a mark...Norwegian Wood It's Only Love, You;ve Got to Hide Your Love Away. His voice is part of the soundtrack of my entire life.
John was invited to an art showing so he decided to have a look. When he got there all he saw in the art pieces was negativity. He was on his way out when he saw a step ladder. At the top of the ladder was a magnifying glass and a tiny word written on the ceiling. He climbed and looked at the word and it simply said "Yes". He said that was the only positive statement he had seen there. It was Yoko's art piece and that is how they met. Yes is the answer, and you know that for sure.
John Lennon, “I’m Losing You” - the version with Cheap Trick, not the album version. You won’t regret it. ✌️
Mind Games is a timeless song, like many of John's sublime works. Imagine maybe it's the top of the mountain and represents all generations of fans not only of him, but of the Beatles as well. I love Mind Games. It really seems like a mantra coming from another magical Galaxy. Great and special John Lennon. A genius who only preached Peace 🕊️ 🌹✨🌟
One of my all time Lennon favourites
John Lennon was a great writer and singer
One of the absolute best ever.
John Lennon has some great insightful songs . George Harrison as well had some great solo songs.
Chilling to hear John's wonderful voice.... lump in throat
One of his best for sure. Give Oh My Love a listen. So beautiful.
Listen to Watching The Wheels. Written just before he passes. Tugs at my heart. He was in such a peaceful place in life when he was taken from us 😢
Try his "Dream Number 9" and "Whatever Gets you through the night"
Walls and Bridges a great album with John's art on cover done when he was eleven 🌈
Nice reaction to one of the greatest Lennon songs.
The major theme running through John and the Beatles is Love… and that is part of why they resonate with so many
R.I.P To A Great Singer Songwriter John Lennon, Still Miss You Always 😢
Lennon was such a unique talent. The prototypical pop song structure is verse, chorus, verse, chorus, (maybe bridge), chorus. This song has none of that. Pure genius.
I had forgotten about this beautiful song. Thank you. Your reactions to songs often give me a bee perspective and appreciation for many songs.
Give these Lennon classics a spin:
Whatever Gets You Through the Night; Jealous Guy; Steel and Glass; You Are Here; Watchin' the Wheels; Starting Over; Woman; Beautiful Boy.
"Mother" is a disturbing but important part of his catalog. His voice haunts me.
I can't forget hearing of his assassination I lived on the UWS, In the City he adopted and loved so much.
"Shaping the future out of the now." What an insightful lyric! This is true for everyone.
"Mind Games" and "Instant Karma" are my favorite John Lennon songs. Both songs are intense, powerful, touch on contemporary issues, yet remain very positive. And as Amber noted, full of hope. If you really listen, these songs are meant to inspire people. They still inspire me. Peace! 🕊
My favorite Beatle and all time favorite artist ❤
John Lennon's "Mother" and "Number 9 Dream. You'll both love them!
If they haven’t hit “Mother” yet, they really, really should.
I'm 60 years old. Man, do I remember the night that the love and light was blown out of the world, like a candle in a hurricane.
Me too. I was laying on the couch watching Monday Night Football…and then Howard Cosell made the announcement. 💔
He was a deeply complicated human being. And just brilliant. We still miss you John. Your music is just as meaningful today as it was when you released that song. Thanks Guys! ❤
John had the best voice.
That slide guitar in the intro still gives me goosebumps and nostalgia.
So beautiful how Amber immersed herself into the lyrics.
John Lennon : a true apostle for peace. RIP your message lives on.
When he was singing about the word and positive power of “Yes,” if you notice, you see the top of a fold out ladder near a ceiling, and on the ceiling you see a piece of paper with the word “Yes” on it. That was in reference to the day he met Yoko at her art showing at a gallery. The ladder and note was one of her installations. John climbed the ladder and saw the word “Yes” written on it and it changed his life. A few minutes after that he met Yoko in the gallery and was so taken by her. The rest is match made in heaven history.
Please react to the official video of "Mother" by John Lennon with the Plastic Ono Band. It's soo emotional and gives you an insight into John's childhood, it's heartbreaking. He was taken from us way too soon but it's comforting that we'll have his music, art and his words forever.
"We're playing those mind games forever" The mind games being life. Everything is mind.
Haven't heard this in like forever! Lol! Great song.
I've been saying it since I first became a Beatles fan, they're all great songwriters, but John Lennon's music is so personal that it makes you feel like this song is about my life and that's why his music stands out more.
One of my all time Lennon favourites
#9 Dream
Working Class Hero
this one usually brings me to tears, miss john
What you got. Another banger from John. Thanks for the memories of great music. This one has always been one of my favorites as well as, what you got. Great word. Derailleur...forcing change. RIP John Lennon. 😢❤️👊
Next John Lennon song, Mother. There's a lot to discuss within that song!
Thank you Jay and Amber, can never do enough John Lennon great song choice so cool, ✌️🙂🕶
John Lennon - "Mother". Period.
I really think it would blow Jay and Amber's minds... So different from the songs by John that they have reviewed. It is one of the most painful and sad songs ever written... The vocal performance is simply astonishing!
@@jaylevy2108 Very much agreed.
John's delving into his own childhood and damage encouraged many people to see doing that as: useful, important, "normal" and valid, as well.
I never thought the greatest aspect of John was "love" (he certainly passed-along his own pain to his son Julian, for example!), but rather:
honesty.
As one of the first "worldwide celebrities" (outside of political theatre, etc.), he was in a completely odd, completely heretofore unknown position (along with the other Beatles, of course, and many of those who rose to prominence in music, just after/in concurrence with The Beatles) and he, bravely, attempted to: have others see him/know him "as a real person" (which is probably sociologically impossible, but: valid and important, nevertheless!).
I think this was one of the great influences he had on his generation and many to come afterwards, as well!
@@SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._AndraQuality comment.
Lennon was a very special person, not only because he obviously had huge success with The Beatles and wrote some great songs. But he was uniquely intelligent, honest and brave. Watch interviews with him, you´ll see he´s very sharp and very raw. He had alot of darkness in him from his upbringing, but he tried to make it into beautiful art, he tried to use it to change himself and the world for the better. If you look at what he proposed all those years ago, that he got SO MUCH hate for, most of it is normal today. He was ahead of his time, which of course is very dangerous.
His song "Love" is just beautiful!
Awwwwwwww
What a wonderful song and conceptual idea. Peace is something that seems to consistently elude us.
And that is what music is about. I never understood people who restrict themselves to ine genre of music. There is a mood of songs for me every day whether it be Jazz, Reggae, old skool house or a classic
Music is for dancing to somedays and somedays reflecting with.
Lennon does have a magical mystifying look at life which mesmerises
Oh my! I haven't heard this song in such a LONG time. It's such a great song. John is my favorite Beatle. He was just so cool and peaceful. He is missed by so many fans.
I see you guys are yet to do "Let it be" by the Beatles - it is a must!
Their best song ever imo.
YES ! Whole album great!
Always loved this. Try #9 dream for a really trippy vibe.
John Lennon's "Power To The People"
I think John was a very unique individual in many ways, but he had an ability to put forth his message, regardless of any controversy, and still not alienate fans. He was like a worldly pundit who just happened to play guitar. ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
I wish you had reacted to the video of this song with John Lennon hanging around Central Park and others parts of New York's Upper West Side including the Beacon Theatre. I lived in that neighborhood for a couple of years with my Dad.
If you visit NYC, you must go to Strawberry Fields in Central Park. It is all Lennon and all Beatles all the time.
Just plain beautiful.💙
I forget how beautiful this song was. Thank you.
This just took me back to my junior high school days. Music was everywhere. We even had radios on the school buses that played hits on local radio stations. I was listening to songs like this to and from school every trip. What a time to grow up. It helped shape me into what I am today.
Wish you guys had some Beatles photos on the wall behind you! Great video! One of my all-time favorite videos of yours, and I do love so many of them. I actually got a little choked up by the message and beautiful music. John Lennon is probably my all-time favorite musical hero. He was also such a powerful force for peace and love. He lived his life with such a passion for creating good vibes in the world.
Such a a simple profound song- pure genius.
Number #9 Dream ❤
Number 9 Dream with May Pang not Yoko on backing vocals.
Just gotta love this anthem from John Lennon. "Love IS the answer" You got it Amber.
My FAVORITE solo by John! And, He was so New York.
And how did that work out for him?
@@cosmiccowboy7764 Wow. Really? You need help.
@@jbjacobs9514I love John Lennon, but he does have a point, the man hastened his own demise.
@@cosmiccowboy7764-So if he moved to Texas would things have been any different 🤷♀️
@@chrisoakley5830 It is more the tone and cavalier language which is bothersome. Since Mark David Chapman did not come from NY but traveled across the country to k&ll him, I don't blame NY for it. It wasn't the best place on earth in 1980 and cities gotta city, but that's like saying it is Pizza Rat's fault! NY didn't do it. MDC did (or if you want to believe crazy conspiracy theories, the FBI actually did it, but I am not going there).
Great song, underrated album. 😀
This is a no doubt classic in every way well performed, written ,and sung
John was an avid reader, he wrote this after reading the book "Mind Games: The Guide to Inner Peace." Another great track from this album is "Aisumasen" and another is "Old Dirt Road" from the "Walls and Bridges" LP will also make you feel what he's feeling.
No-one could put so much meaning into a simple lyric like John; less is more! An absolute genius lyrically and so sadly missed. Dead now longer than he was alive 😭
A phenominal talent who wrote some of the most iconic Beatles songs. "Imagine" if the Beatles had stayed together. I believe "Mind Games" was the title track of his second solo album after the Beatles.
I know Amber loves John Lennon's voice so I was excited to watch her reaction(and her beautiful face during it)😊
I had the ultimate pleasure in meeting john and yoko when i worked at the airport in houston back in early 70s. Yoko was fighting husband for custody in houston. John was super nice, so down to earth. RIP john😢
#9 Dream is equally amazing.
John Lennon's songs felt very authentic: snapshots of himself at his most vulnerable moments.
Lennon was such an interesting and haunted man. In his early years, due to his geographical location and his childhood, he was pretty rough & tumble and could be an absolutely terrible human being later and during the early years of The Beatles. He physically abused and cheated on his first wife, and psychologically abused their son, Julian, among other less than polite behaviors. Yet, his entire life he was looking for love and wanted to spread it, which he did with so many amazing songs specifically about love. It really seemed that Yoko connected with him in a way that softened his younger, rougher edges. I'm just young enough to not remember much about the days JFK and Dr. King were assassinated, but I remember everything about John Lennon's murder. Still to this day, every time I go to NYC I go to the Dakota building and the spot where it happened, and I'm hoping to finally make it to Liverpool next year. This is definitely one of my favorite of his songs and great reaction, as always.
😅 Due to his geographical location! Think?
@@James-hd6ez - Just to clarify, I was speaking about Liverpool, specifically, which by all accounts was a rough town in places.
Ned from Spain breezin in for this. One of my favorites, a dreamy, beautiful song, great lyrics and makes me miss him that much more. Fantastic bass playing by session master Gordon Edwards, rock solid Jim Keltner on drums and guitarist David Spinozza who played the solo on Dr. John's " Right Place Wrong Time" !
One word to define him: "genious"!
But also someone who used to fight...for peace and love!
I remember I was just a kid who was his fan (by that time, I knew nothing about rock) and cried a lot when was told he'd been killed.
I was just too young to understand how someone could have been able to kill someone like him, although nowadays I still don't understand.
I'd suggest, as your next reactions to Lennon's solo career: "#9 dream"; "Mother"; "Power to the people"; "Working class hero"; "Cold turkey".
The final lyrics "Make love, not war" what a line. Lennon was a prophet of peace & love
//o-o\\
Awww, my favorite solo John song forever!!! ❤❤
One of my favorite Lennon songs is Working Class Hero. Definitely worth a listen.
John Lennon obviously needed a lot of love, since his childhood, and Yoko Ono wasn't so sensitive, she pushed his music to sing and seek for love again and again! He really needed mind games with people!!
