Thank you for sharing this video!! I’m starting my first hosting job at Chili’s in May and I have no experience being a hostess whatsoever. I was wondering if you have any recommendations for beginner hostess’s with social anxiety?
Sure! I was also a first-time hostess with social anxiety. What helped me was to plan out what I was going to say ahead of time. Memorize the specials. Treat it like an acting gig and memorize your "lines." It also helps that you don't have to interact with the guests as much as the servers do, so you can stick to simple formalities. "Enjoy your meal!" "Your server (name of server) will be right with you!" Things like that. Always smile and be friendly. If you do that, guests will sometimes feel comfortable enough to start conversations with you on their own, so you won't have to worry about making conversation. I hope that helps!
If you have good trainers, there's nothing to worry about! One thing I wish I would've known is probably how important people skills are. You're not dealing with guests/customers as much as the servers are, but you are their first impression and usually the first to know of any issues. I've also had customers blame me for problems with their servers.
Thinking of applying to hostess. I really don't want to but need work experience. Plus I'm shy. Obviously I know no job is easy but they make this look like it is but it seems stressful too And having to memorize tables omg. I do have a good memory but still afraid i will mess up
I don't remember, sorry. It was most likely something I got from UA-cam's audio library. I don't even have the Windows Movie Maker program I edited this on anymore, so I can't go back and check 😕

@@MiniMindfulMuse Yes this helps a lot thank you so much for getting back to me! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Pretend like you dont have social anxiety. I manage restaurants and although I really enjoy it, i have to pretend everyday.
Agreed
This was super informative. Thank you!
What do you wish you would’ve known before you started. I’m starting as a host and I’m nervous about what I’ll have to learn at the last minute.

Honestly, it wasn't THAT stressful. I'm shy too, and jobs like this helped a lot with that.

thanks for the tips, it's amazing how some of that stuff is a no brainer , but some people just can't get it.
Yeah, a lot of it is common sense, but common sense isn't very common lol
I enjoyed the information. I wish the camera would hold still.
I love!!
This is unrelated to the video topic and not important, but what is the intro music? Does it have a name?
