• Rihanna - Lift Me Up (...
She sings with emotion and, for me, it resonates. If you feel it, you feel it!
I love how her voice has matured as she’s gotten older as well as how it changed a little once she had her first child. Beyoncé’s voice and other women did the same when they got older and had kids as well. It’s sounds more mature and robust. I love it! Forever a member of the navy! ⚓️👸🏽⚓️
When that song played in the movie.....I cried...and that emotion is still there in this performance.
Me too
My husband and I cried so hard. From the words and meaning of the song to the beautiful life the world lost when Chadwick passed away. Our King…our super hero! I am so glad that children got to see and experience the Black Panther! Rest well King TaChala!
I believe reality that wonderful tribute to Chatsworth and has song Lift Me Up A, and so has she did the letter that want to disrespect him or nobody in the state that was her getting loose because she was probably scared and nervous to do that love that song from Eunice minions people cuz she's not used to that particular songs using her songs that'll mean this is making fun of that song Or Chasm bowling or when that that lady said 01 the cook called whatever she said that don't mean that they made fun of her or whatever people just need to keep it comes to this self you know and like I said that I'm into that that that to make Romans hell Wanda this really need to keep the comments to their damn self Brianna you did a wonderful job Riri do you want to have a wonderful good job God bless
Yes! 🥺
Totally agree
If you have never had to sing with a baby pushing on your diaphragm & all your other organs, let me tell you something!, 👏🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 to Rihanna.
Thank you for saying this. I'm a mother of two and i remember my daughter laying on me in ways that were incomprehensible. She literally made my body her home. OMG😢😮😅😊😂 and she still feels like she owns me two years later.
This is so true..
Agreed! And she really didnt give her body a chance to recover from the first pregnancy. But she still did a wonderful job.
This part right here. I have sung while pregnant and it is not a easy feat at all. She did an amazing job.
I never considered that!!!! You are 100% correct
Rihanna was able to make all those excellent notes while pregnant, her breathing was excellent, the mic was ON and the haters think about her expressions cuz their favs are a robot on stage 💀
period
Right!
I’m on the floor… 😂
Patti LaBelle said you got to be willing to make a face.
What notes?!?!?!
her voice aged like fine wine...compare this to some of her early works you can see how much her vocal has matured. Awsome video.
Rihanna has such an angelic voice I love the way she sings.
Rihanna just can't do anything wrong. Who wants to always listen to a perfect song? The rawness is real and genuine! Loved this song the moment I first heard it!!!!
This whole performance was full of emotion. My teenager said even mentioning the song title afterward brought chills. She did a good job for what is supposed to be like you said.
I loved the performance and don’t care who didn’t . I was thinking of all my loved ones who transitioned.
THIS! I was thinking of me and mine too
Me too, can't help but cry. Miss them! 💙💙
Rihanna performed and sang the song so beautifully. She's just so powerful.
I love your positivity on this... your job is to mark up not down, I love how you appreciate her authenticity instead of expecting perfection. amazing teaching approach, might consider lessons in the future! enjoyed this, thank you
Thank you so much for this. 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾 Exactly what I always go for.
Look Rihanna’s performance and artistic interpretation of this song never fails to move me, give me goosebumps, and make cry. Enough said. Outstanding performance! She made it do what it was supposed to do.
I appreciate she always has a raw / emotive approach to performing.
Love Rihanna!! THE older she has gotten, the better her beautiful raw vocals shines. Her voice is resonant, and she always sings with so much emotion! She does not overdo anything bc she does not have to. Her voice and sound speaks for itself without having to overdo it!! Great analysis !!
It def was raw but that is how the song was recorded. She sounded amazing and it was a phenomenal performance.
This performance was amazing. This song was made for her, and her voice. She is one of those artists that is not like ANYONE else! Her performance was effortlessly executed, and no matter what you think of her she commands your attention. The standing ovation was deserved.
To me, it was like she was singing to Chadwick’s family. I didn’t expect it to be neat and perfect. I’m not what I would call a Rihanna fan but I liked this. It’s like she was singing from a place of grief.
Indeed. She was VERY emotive in her rendition!!
I LOVED it!!🎶🎼🎵🙏🏿🖤💯
I love how you can appreciate all talent for their own special and unique beauty. That makes you beautiful too. Thank you for your contributions Jaron.
Congratulations Gregory at the awards you did a really good job singing the song for Travis Bowman Lift Me Up you did really good job God bless you honey
I believe it was Sissy Houston that said a great singer can sing from their head, their heart and their gut(diaphragm)...and it was no surprise that her daughter, Whitney (aka The Voice) could master all 3 at one time. But what I loved MOST about Rihanna in this performance is how beautifully she sung from her heart and soul. It’s as you implied in the analysis, it’s not always about the technique and precision; perhaps the emotion and truthfulness behind the words were far more important...and this has got to be the MOST dynamic I’ve ever seen Rihanna. I absolutely loved it!! 🔥 🔥
What a performance! Rih slays all day. I was tearing up 🥺 watching it.
Rihanna did amazing to me! Idc what nobody say. It’s Rihanna! She don’t ever try to be anybody else but RIHANNA
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Rihanna has a nonchalant-ness to her. I think that’s part of her style and how she performs. It’s beautiful how she can still gracefully maintain that even in a song like this. You’re welcome Oscars.
I think her understated way of singing is brilliant, it works beautifully for her! She doesn't have a huge voice like Chaka, Whitney or Beyoncé BUT, she is a lovely storyteller and her understated way as a storyteller l just works well for her! Like Billie Holiday had a small voice compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Billie too was an under stated singer. I remember when Rihanna first came on the scene and wasn't so polished, but she developed, grew as a singer and here she is now. Singing while pregnant is interesting because between breathing, the baby is moving around, kicking, swimming, it does something to the singer/mother. You actually work more because of the movement and reaction of the baby. You have to push a bit more, the baby is feeling and hearing everything you're doing and reacting as well. It's challenging, exciting all at once!
I loved your analysis I think you were spot-on. And can I also add that the people in the room, who could hear it LIVE clearly loved every moment of it because they gave her TWO standing ovations. One on camera, then again as it went to advert break. As far as I know, the only two standing ovations of the night! I also loved Lenny Kravitz's performance tribute to those we lost. Another underrated singer who is exceptional but makes it look easy, so is rarely complimented or held up when talking about vocal performances. I think it's the Islander approach in them both 😊
I loved it ❤️. Very emotional and her voice is so beautiful and clear and healthy… I couldn’t think of another word, but healthy …yeah. I’m so glad she kept it simple because the orchestration underneath is so beautiful… Last thing you want to hear is a whole bunch of Riffin over that beautiful orchestration… I love this song 🎶, I love Rihanna and I love this analysis… Thank you
I hadn't seen her performance but you're spot on as always. The arrangement was beautiful and the choir just perfect. Rihanna delivered the point I believe and made this song something solemn and nit over sung.
My heart just melts when I hear this song. ❤She did an outstanding job 👏🏿🙌
THAT PERFORMANCE WAS BEAUTIFUL, THAT IS WHY SHE GOT A STANDING OVATION
This is one Performance that will stay with us
Rihanna. The music your voice the Band. Congratulations to everyone that performed with you Amazing. Always bring tears every time I listen to you sing this song.❤️🌹🎈👏🏾
I truly love your analysis of her performance! I enjoyed her performance. It was the most emotional singing she had ever done. I'm loving the "Mommy Rihanna " because she is sharing with us a more vulnerable side to her!
The voice modulation and timbre was outstanding in this masterpiece👏
I absolutely love this song and the way she sings it. Big fan of Rihanna.
I enjoyed listening to you break down Rihanna's vocals. She has a way of taking you there. From listening to you, I understand that there's a skill to expressing words and emotions. Rihanna gets inside the lyrics and makes you feel the meaning of the song..Amazing! It would have really made my heart smile to see her win an Oscar for this song.
Thank you Jaron. I am thankful that I "met you" on UA-cam. I really enjoy your thorough analyses of not just this song, but every song that you have analyzed. I am not a music teacher/coach or anything musical, what I do love however is music or performances that speak to my soul, that you enlighten me on! I am a very recent subscriber to your channel (since the Super Bowl). I love your vivacity. The pauses and explanation work for me! Again, thank you.
I love Her voice ❤️
Just loved your reaction and breakdown of this stellar performance by Rihanna. This song resonates with me so much; i cried like a baby hearing this again. Just beautiful raw vocals. Mic was definitely ON! 👑❤️🔥 #teamnavytothebone

The orchestral arrangement and that guitar 🎸 was off the charts!!!
This guy will never say when a performance is bad. I don't know how honest he is on his reaction
He’s giving a professional opinion. You will give a personal opinion big difference. 😂
I’m glad you explained the instruction and education behind this song. I’ve heard a few people say they didn’t care for it. But I truly love it!
WOW! You have a really good voice!!! I'd love to hear you do this song!!!
Excellent analogy ❤
Brilliant thank you ❤
Given the raw emotions this song produces, it has to be sung with raw elements in it, and Rhianna does this masterfully.
Beautiful ❤❤❤
This song matches her perfectly! ❤️
Oh my God, you r so entertaining! Amazing review 🎉
Jaron YOU SOUND AMAZING in this analyzes😍
Jaron I like your analysis of Rihanna's voice while singing this song. She song it with feeling and being backed by an orchestra made it extra special. Thanks!
She was just perfect
Loved it! I cried in the movie too.
Love that performance 🔥
Love this....thank you❤😊
😭😭beautiful
I loved this performance. I got goosebumps.
The navy thanks you!!! 💙💙 so informative too. Thank you
Well done 👏🏾 😊
She's a jazz singer. She takes the sound of words and the sound of the melody and uses them to create feeling. Ho Me Oh Me Ho Me it's like scat singing only she's riffing off the actual word. Because the word represents a feeling that words cannot hold so she's giving it to us through the sound. That plaintive, hopeless, hopeful, open incantation. *This rendition deserves an Academy Award for Acting*. Anyone feel that?
Gorgeous ❤
Thank you Sir🙏
For the analysis
This is all I needed to hear 👏🏼
Riri is gifted and I wish her all the best that life can provide ❤
Yes this song is truly truly beautiful making the heart feel heavy.
Rihanna is a legend but man explained it perfectly!

Riri, beautifully done. Amazing, she's a mom now and I feel her rawness. Thanks for sharing!

The Queen rises once again .. This is my fav one of hers EVA .. Girl you rocked this💖💖
Awesome 👏
Wow you’re really good, you talked about the pronunciation and sounds that I’d never thought about
Listening to the words and watching it made me cry, we need love.
Yes!!!! That arrangement !!!
You’re genius love❤️ I’m glad that an industry professional has something to say about this performance in a positive format. Most people don’t understand her voice and bc of that, they think this wasn’t a great performance when it was.
Oh my...my daughters and I just cried when we heard this song at the movie...it is so..emotive. If you have not shared your insight on Phyllis Hyman's voice, please give your thoughts on her voice. A beautiful voice gone too soon.
Yes... I've been wanting Jaron to do Phyllis Hyman too
I loved it, I literally cry EVERYTIME I hear it.
This song is currently my absolute favourite!! What an amazing talent + listening to your analysis , only made it that much more potent ❤ I wonder who is Rihannas vocal coach? She just blows me away!! 😊 🎶 🎶
The collective of the song with your breakdowns give me goose bumps. Thx for doing this for us. 🙏🏾
