    I love how her voice has matured as she’s gotten older as well as how it changed a little once she had her first child. Beyoncé’s voice and other women did the same when they got older and had kids as well. It’s sounds more mature and robust. I love it! Forever a member of the navy! ⚓️👸🏽⚓️

    To me, it was like she was singing to Chadwick’s family. I didn’t expect it to be neat and perfect. I’m not what I would call a Rihanna fan but I liked this. It’s like she was singing from a place of grief.

    I believe it was Sissy Houston that said a great singer can sing from their head, their heart and their gut(diaphragm)...and it was no surprise that her daughter, Whitney (aka The Voice) could master all 3 at one time. But what I loved MOST about Rihanna in this performance is how beautifully she sung from her heart and soul. It’s as you implied in the analysis, it’s not always about the technique and precision; perhaps the emotion and truthfulness behind the words were far more important...and this has got to be the MOST dynamic I’ve ever seen Rihanna. I absolutely loved it!! 🔥 🔥

    Rihanna has a nonchalant-ness to her. I think that’s part of her style and how she performs. It’s beautiful how she can still gracefully maintain that even in a song like this. You’re welcome Oscars.

    • @nikitawhite2360
      @nikitawhite2360 10 місяців тому

      I think her understated way of singing is brilliant, it works beautifully for her! She doesn't have a huge voice like Chaka, Whitney or Beyoncé BUT, she is a lovely storyteller and her understated way as a storyteller l just works well for her! Like Billie Holiday had a small voice compared to Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan, Billie too was an under stated singer. I remember when Rihanna first came on the scene and wasn't so polished, but she developed, grew as a singer and here she is now. Singing while pregnant is interesting because between breathing, the baby is moving around, kicking, swimming, it does something to the singer/mother. You actually work more because of the movement and reaction of the baby. You have to push a bit more, the baby is feeling and hearing everything you're doing and reacting as well. It's challenging, exciting all at once!

    I loved your analysis I think you were spot-on. And can I also add that the people in the room, who could hear it LIVE clearly loved every moment of it because they gave her TWO standing ovations. One on camera, then again as it went to advert break. As far as I know, the only two standing ovations of the night! I also loved Lenny Kravitz's performance tribute to those we lost. Another underrated singer who is exceptional but makes it look easy, so is rarely complimented or held up when talking about vocal performances. I think it's the Islander approach in them both 😊

    I loved it ❤️. Very emotional and her voice is so beautiful and clear and healthy… I couldn’t think of another word, but healthy …yeah. I’m so glad she kept it simple because the orchestration underneath is so beautiful… Last thing you want to hear is a whole bunch of Riffin over that beautiful orchestration… I love this song 🎶, I love Rihanna and I love this analysis… Thank you

    She's a jazz singer. She takes the sound of words and the sound of the melody and uses them to create feeling. Ho Me Oh Me Ho Me it's like scat singing only she's riffing off the actual word. Because the word represents a feeling that words cannot hold so she's giving it to us through the sound. That plaintive, hopeless, hopeful, open incantation. *This rendition deserves an Academy Award for Acting*. Anyone feel that?
