Blackie has no idea how much his band is still loved in the US, not just by old school fans but younger fans like myself and others. I'm glad they're going to tour here again in the fall! 🤘😈🤘
Why he touring in small places???
The drummer is literally soloing thru the entire show...
That's Stet Howland, he is drumming for Metal Church now
Yes, read the notes on the Crimson Idol album, Blackie was inspired by the Whos Quadrophenia record, hense the Keith Moon style and accents.
Stet Howland played live but in the studio Frankie Banali played the drums for The Crimson Idol and Still Not Black Enough and Headless Children
@@sleepy_druid1001 some songs on The Crimson Idol were played by Frankie Banali and some by Stet Howland. They are both credited
A bit too much, but great player
Blackie has of the best voices for metal or hard rock or whatever. He sounds great live . He sounds as good live as on their albums..that's impressive
This is very true he is like an American Bruce Dickinson
I saw them in Munich last year, he didn't sing a fucking note everything was on playback, ill never go and watch WASP again
To the people who haven't sat down and seriously listen to the talent that this man and his band have shown your missing out on some great work. I say work because the music that this band has produced goes beyond just songs on a Lp or disk.
NA MIN. IT'S MINCE.
*you’re
I was at the show right before this one in Mannheim Germany. Killer lineup.Wasp,Testament,Slayer,Helloween,
The Almighty,Black Sabbath (with Dio) & The mighty Iron Maiden on their Fear of the Dark show.
I was at this gig and it was the first time I'd seen W.A.S.P...bloody brilliant and I remember that it pissed it down all day in the usual monsters of rock way,ha ha...love it all🤘😁
Blackie is clearly a very intelligent man. Who also has the best metal voice.
Matching those white boots , with that chubby catsuit. NOT intelligent! Should do a cover of abba’s Eagle - That would be smart. Xx
Singing with that very low cut blouse he has on he looks like a Jewish housewife from Long Island
Hahaha. I was thinking similarly. That blouse/top is hilarious.
Blackie loves a leotard
Best back up vocals in any metal band ever!!!
Def Leppard probably are the true kings of that.
and Blackie is the best lead singer in heavy metal IMO.
@@kissthefox9141 def leppard are the kings of cheese and nothing else
Johnny Rod was the man!
almost an extension of lawless's voice
Ive always loved the Crimson Idol for these ever emerging drum fills that totally align with the songwriting reprise moments on that Album. Its one of my absolute favourites of All time because of the abundance of vibe moments due to the drumming
That drummer… It’s all i can see lol. He’s like the Muppet Animal on drums. Just an unrelenting mop flopping around without a break the ENTIRE way. Brilliant 👏
Reminds me of Tommy Lee...the guy is always full throttle
Muppet show awesome drummer
@@Dirtdevil1 Tommy is a talentless bum
He got canned after this show.
@@ChuckMarteau Really? That suxx. He was on 🔥
I was at this concert! Just got stationed in Germany a month earlier and made it my mission to hit Monsters of Rock in England and also Super Rock in Mannheim also in August, 1992. 😎🤘🤘🤘
Mannheim was awesome.Slayer fucked them all !
Always a breath of fresh air to see a bassist tearing across the stage like a f****** maniac lead-guitarist. #teamjohnny
like a Fhagg
you won't believe this but UA-cam: PEARL JAM MTV Awards playing song Animal... the Bassist in that performance is.. just UA-cam it.. you're welcome.
👍🏻🤘🏻🖖🏻
I can play drums to this flawlessly too, with my fingers on the steering wheel
I was there don't remember too much though it was a full on day of metal mayhem
Killer drummer ❤️
Everybody's on the 🥁but Johnny Rod fkn' rocks🤘
😄👉You know Blackie doesn't play that racist confederate flag guitar any more🤔🇹🇹
That drummer is amazing!!
OMG…Crimson Idol and Headless Children….CLASSICS….I will always love W.A.S.P! Blackie, thank you for not going into baseball lol!
Drummer is awesome. He looks like swarzeneggers bigger better built rock star brother!!
The drumming on the invisible boy is insane. Love the crimson idol album especially the faster tracks, charlie was a great song aswell.
барабанщик лучший 🤘🤠🤘
I always loved Lawless's voice and Wasp. It's like a chainsaw.
I had the priviledge to be there that day.I wasn't a collector of WASP Albums at that time but am sure I enjoyed the set as much as I do now watching this.Terrific sounding Songs. And really good accurate advice from Blackie in the interviews.I understand that even more after recording my demo in a Studio last year.A real sensible down to earth dude then.A Christian now,so even better.
Probably stood next to you watching this
Still have my t-shirt from the day
Easily the best drummer they ever had !
The great Stet Howland!
That's Stet Howland, he is drumming for Metal Church now
Hell no!Tony Richard was the best and the original drummer
Howland is great! But he's not WASP
@@nolimits300 Being the original drummer doesn't make him the best. Tony could never have pulled off the drumming that Stet played on Crimson Idol. Just like Chris Holmes wasn't talented enough to play Bob Kulick's guitar parts
@@MichaelHolmgaard Holmes was in jail when Crimson Idol created. Also Tony Richard could play easy Crimson Idol drums, check him out how he play drums,on Crimson Idol studio drummer was a italian i can't remember the name.Sorry for my broken english bro
A rock'n roll band without any tattoos. Wow. Today nobody who's holding a guitar has a space left on both arms. Sad times.
Tattoos used to be a rebellious thing to do. Now it’s rebellious not to have tattoos
tattoos don't make anyone play better
@@SKRooU2 That's what i say.
Need to put the whole show on blue ray, or sting ray...!
Blackie rocked the confederate flag ax even before Dimebag Darrel!
Seen W.A.S.P. In the early 80s at a small venue maybe 2000 people but the floor was open so maybe more. Can’t remember all the other bands but Michael Schenker was the headliner. Why I remember WASP was because everyone was throwing their shoes at them and they just kept playing. Why they wanted to go home shoeless beats me, but the floor was covered with them . Me , my brother and our friend use to hang out till everyone left and search the floor for money or weed and what ever else we could find and always scored on something. F ck I miss those days and my bro Bob and honorary bro Paul , both left this earth to soon...hope that we all meet again some day!
0:42 fastest roadie of ALL time
Blackie's guitar is too bad ass for the modern metal crowd. The woke girls would cry about the confederate flag.
Confederate flag was a common guitar 🎸, will always ROCK!!
Blackie without a warlock is like James without an Explorer. Looks weird.
Isso é nostálgico e maravilhoso!!! Metal nunca morrerá \m/
Justin beiber hasn't even 1% of their talent
Wtf are you talkin about?!?!🤣
How that shit can relate with Blackie?!?!
That name is not welcome in this thread.
It was my first donington, raised piss and the air buzzed with 7" vinyls flying through the air, what a great day 🤘🤘
Haha same my first donnington was in 92 too. The bottles of piss flung was so gross. I took one to the nuts! My brothers friend offered me "beer" which luckily i turned him down, it was piss, not that I knew when offered.
An amazing festival I went in 88. Nothing today can compare to the absolute madness of Monsters of Rock at castle Donnington. Huge burning tyre fires, bottles of piss and bags of crap flying all over the place, passed out drunken headbangers strewn across the floor. Amazing line ups and a atmosphere like no other.
First one was 86 , good times
Drummer got fired after concert.....Why??
HE HIT THE STAGE BEFORE BLACKIE,
TAKING BOWS AND SHIT, BEFORE THE SET BEGAN...LOL.
Do i see Jonathan Aaron Steele at 13:00
Nice point bro
Wow! Great drummer!!
That's Stet Howland, he is drumming for Metal Church now
He's in my friend's new band now : Last Temptation check this out
My very first heavy rock gig it was a great day growing my hair and a brocken arm by falling off my motorbike I will not forget it what a fantastic time 😊
They rocked the stage to the foundation of itself.
Blackie says he's not a focal point of the band...but his albums have only his face on them.
Two albums out of 15?
@@randygonzalez1375 thats enough when it comes to a "band".
I’ve had the distinct honor to cross paths and talk to our metal head brother sir Blackie Lawless briefly at the Starwood in Hollywood, back in the day!
Blackie, your a rock! You rock, and walk the talk. You are what it is, not any thing less or more. Love you bro!
I do love listening to Blackie, nice cutting spirit and sharp person
Outstanding fucking performance
W.A.S.P is Masterpiece
I saw the kick show to this Tour at a small club in San Diego, Originally The Bacchanal, but renamed Sound FX at the time. My Friend I were Standing next to Soundman and he said be prepared to have your ears blow out because they were getting ready for Donington! He did not lie and to this day it was the loudest show I have ever been to and W.A.S.P. Kicked Our Ass!🤘😎🤘
You are sooooo lucky man
I wish i could see them then!
I have see them but on 2004 which is not the same i think cause they was so grounded
I was there
Best album Wasp has ever done! If only they had Bob Kulick on guitar there, we also would've seen the best W.A.S.P lineup ever on stage. The guitars are very significant on The Crimson Idol, but none of the guitarists that Blackie recruited since, has been able to capture the quality of Bob Kulick at all.
Stet Howland though, is such a sick drummer. Love those relentless drum rolls throughout the album. Genius trait to have there
I'd say Headless Children is the best WASP album.
@@walterbishop1697 I'd say the debut even though it's more simple but crimson is a close second and technically far more sophisticated.
Chris Holmes or an imitator. He was the other 50 percent of their sound.
I absolutely love the rebel flag guitar Blackie is playing here. Bad ass.
@Jpthxq Yawn.
Looks like a Jackson with a somehow reversed body. Haven't seen that before.
@@symptomsofdecay he custom ordered it that way. I think he had a couple more Jackson with reversed bodies.
@@gabrielbrouwer Todays idiots would try and cancel him.
@@AllOuttaBubblegum123 really crazy how things have changed in the 80s we had concervatives trying to censor us now things have gone full cycle and the so-called liberals(liberal in name only are trying to do the same. They've blindly embarrassed the dogmas of religious liberalism and the days of warmongering neocons are over. Welcome to the post neocons era. We have slowly lost our voices in many conversations and now that wall has been knocked down. Love him o hate him presdent Trump has worked on our part to knock that wall down. Trump 2024!!!
wow i was at the front feelin old now but still rocking🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
damn classic,Blackie looks in shape(still)!
I used to airbrush their logo and them on t-shirts in the 80's
never listened to them back in the day , damn talented metal heads
The drummer is on a rampage !!!!
You don't see drummers with such unique kits and styles any more...
And guess what - that's absolutely great! The whole album sucks due to the superoverdone drumming... Impossible to listen to stuff like that...
This is really old school, before people got offended by everything 🔥🔥🤘🤘
I was there. I remember being a little disappointed with W.A.S.P on the day, because they really are a fantastic club/theatre live act, but in the wide open spaces of Donnington it seemed to get a little lost. The wind messing with the sound at festivals never helps. Great band though. Contrast W.A.S.P to Slayer on that day and the massive mosh pit madness for Slayer and you really felt that the times were changing for the heavy metal music scene.
The fact that a band like WASP were still headlining festivals like Donington in 1992 is nothing short of amazing. To me they were in a completely different leagur from the other "hair" bands.
@@andrewvanhalen1984 they didn't headline. Iron Maiden did.
@@taftaftaffy co-headline I meant to say

This drumset is set up very different lol 😂 !!! Never seen this before . As a drummer it looks very hard to play .
Blackie got the Paul Stanley moves here lol.
Amazing band.
Confed flag guitar for the win. Love it.
That is some drum set up . The bass drums at either end
I guess he wanted the audience to see what his feet were doing. His toms are really low too which may be for the same reason. It's the teeny bikini of drum setups.
The story behind the weird set up is purely by chance. Stet was wanting a 4 bass drum set up a bit like Alex van halen has. So he was experimenting and had set up the outside two, sat down for a jam and he was floored by how it felt and sounded so stuck with it
@@robertfurneaux128 hmmm!
Man… that drummer is working.
Hey Heads UP. The incredible Lee Ritenour has written several lead guitar parts for Pink Floyd. If ya itemized his work on their behalf, blow hard gilmore, could have just gone home, he's a fruad, otherwise the credits would reflect properly. LEE RITENOUR is 10X, the Guitar player of gilmore!
How such a cool man turned into church attending grandma is beyond me.
old age and dementia
She conducted a Superb interview. What an Intelligent, Beautiful lady .
Been a WASP fan since the early 80’s and they always kick ass . Small complaint , to many backing track vocals here .
Back in the day when W.A.S.P. were still energy
True
... and no religion lol
@@psychedelicfright85 is there something wrong with Blackie being christian?
@@blind_channel_fp no. If it works for you, cool. It just kind of sucked seeing him censor himself, when he was against that before.
@@psychedelicfright85 not censoring, he just doesn't like saying bad words anymore
I seen Blackie ( WASP) in 85"
I'm glad he changed because I really didn't like him back then. He seemed excessively arrogant. In later years, he became much more insightful and brilliant as a song writer
Blackie was a great bass player, I liked wasp much better then.
Yes and piper was great on guitar that was best.
look I just want the whole gig without the dumb interview... anyway, blackie talking rubbish, It was this record and his choice of songs to play live during donnigton 92 is what killed the band, after this, no one cared for wasp, they were done.... no one bought still not black enough, no one remembers it and the album is out of print, and then he went on to do kill fuck die with turned the last of the fans off..
Remember the day well. Me and my mate slept in after a heavy Friday night and missed the coach down. We got a taxi from Halifax hoping we could find our coach for the journey back but to no avail. We ended up spending the night in Derby train station with many others then thumbed a lift back. Good times👍
Love the drumming on The Invisible Boy👌
Camerman ruined it. 32 years of bad footage.
I’m surprised UA-cam hasn’t banned this video because of that Guitar 🎸 I wonder if Blackie still uses it or does he worry about being labeled racist or some such nonsense
Way to focus on the drummer during the guitar solo, and then to focus on literally everyone else in the band!😂
ok, I hear the bass part and see the bass player not playing it. is this off
synch, edited or dun dun dun, fake?
thank you - i loved this back then...and now^^
He’s getting on a bit now still love blackie but back in the day they were monsters. Rock on lads.
Anyone know anything about his rebel guitar, looks like a lefty body with a righty neck
Who is in Wasp at this time?
I recognize Johnny Rod
The two other guys ??
I used to have this cd single set from the crimson idol that had a few cuts from the Donnington performance.
I take that back , these guys are very live and still really badass !!!
It would be very hard to find a guitar with the Confederate Flag painted on it these days.
blackie up there doing his best paul stanley impression lmao i hate kiss but i like wasp.
There is no Metal Great Rocker-Metal like Twisted Sisters & Dee Snider tbh
What do ye say guys?
I always though that could or rather should have made that extra effort to sound a little better live
На барабанах Фрэнки Банали,из Queot Riot
Blackie is a master mind , and Jhon Rod is brilliant
Blackie needs to stick to bass! Much cooler!
That drummer ruined many songs on that album!
The drummer is awesome was he a stand in
greatest band only missing a lead guitarist.......
ジョニーロッド、ステッドホーランド最強!
I Loved Stet's drumming here 🤘
Who all is here? Blackie, Johnny Rod from King Cobra, who are the other dudes??
BTW , I was at this show.
What a hunk 😍😍😍
I didn't know Ric Flair was the bass player in wasp
with that shirt, it looks like blackie is transitioning
Is it just me or do I hear blackies voice during the backup vocals when he’s not singing especially during the first song … thanks … GOD BLESS !!!
When Blackies not singing That’s Johnny Rods that sounds like Blackie on vocals … WOW … thanks … GOD BLESS !!!
