The best of Genesis, Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings, Pain Of Salvation, Dream Theater and Marillion all on one stage at the same time. It doesn't get any better than that. EPIC!!!
The best prog supergroup. Their live shows are fantastic , great showmanship
How Morse is able to sing such a difficult song and play the difficult keys is completely insane.
He's actually not playing anything difficult on the keyboards....he's alternating between like a few chords for most of the song...Peter hammill does the same thing. Maybe you're not a musician so it's harder for you to grasp.
@@bremtremont2027 Agreed with what you're saying, but I don't know what Peter Hammill has to do with this
@@bremtremont2027 it's harder than it looks
@@bremtremont2027 this song is both tough to play without doing vocals and sing without playing an instrument.
@@bremtremont2027 it's difficult when timing is different in vocal parts and on the instrument
Steve Hackett = Genius
he create the Tapping , 1971
when Hackett left Genesis die
I was 17 and I was there
Alicia Florido Sardina happy for you, they probably never come to my country:(
Kudos to that vocalist/keyboard player...TWO fucking difficult jobs at once, and very well done! Great performance, dude...
That's Neal Morse. He's on a ton of recordings - the four Transatlantic albums, the first six Spock's Beard albums, eight solo albums of Christian-themed prog, plus countless other projects.
Neal Morse is an amazingly talented musician. He's also one of the best songwriters alive, as his work with Spock's Beard shows. After he left, I never really enjoyed that band much anymore. They still "sounded" like SB, but not really. It was like they lost their soul.
@@kingcrimson234 Neal Morse is also great showman. He's behaving on stage very appealing, open to the audience, interacting with them, sometimes telling jokes in between. Actually the whole Transatlantic is great live band, I enjoy all their live shows . People in the community noticed that prog bands generally boring to watch live, because musicians are static, and dont do much except staring at their instruments. But not in case of Transatlantic.
Neal´s face at 8:40 is priceless. It´s like he can't believe he's signing this song.
Unlike Eddie Van Halen Steve Hackett does not have to be "the man". A true virtuoso but willing to be in the background when needed and comes to the forefront when needed. A true gentleman.
No need to even compare the two - they were from completely different eras
who said Van Halen created guitar tapping? Steve Hackett did it long before Eddie Van Halen.
virtuosso? meeeh
I think this kind of music aged badly. I find it quite annoying and boring. I guess today's kids will say that also about the music I love.
Steve Hackett doesn't play in the same league as Eddie Van Halen ( used to).
Poor Neil Morse. Having to cover all those keyboard parts originally played by a man who DID NOT have to sing all the lyrics, especially considering he had to sing a young Peter Gabriel's parts. Cut him some slack, he had a lot of work to do
He see very comfortable with that jajajaja
Quentin Tarantino on Keyboards is ace!
He's much better at music than at film.
The intro to that song is insane.
I love how Roine is in total fan-boy mode! Clapping along, singing away from the mic, he just fucking loves Genesis!
The look on Hackett's face at the end says, "Am I In Transatlantic Now?" priceless!
Trewavas' Bass... So... Amazing...
ALL THE PRETTY FLOWERS =3
6:31 First and last time you will see mike portnoy like this, folks!
Llegue hasta 6:33 y sabia que alguien había notado la cara de Portnoy que esta diciendo... estoy con los mejores músicos de la puta vida!
Phil was a master.....
Too much. Brain exploding. Life's been good.
Every time Hackett finishes during the dueling guitar solos he looks at Roine like "... Well, sonny? Can you top that?"
Roine is on the moon by playing with Steve...surely one of his biggest influences!
Everybody did great, but man every time I watch/hear Portnoy playing drums I am blown away. Legendary skill!
Superb guitar work. Great duet between Steve and Roine, suported by a marvellous rythm section. Of course, never forgeting Neal; great keyboards and truly a maestro.
Great solo tradeoffs between Steve and Roine!
Little Pete Trewavas reliving the times when he used to play along to Genesis Live in his bedroom in Aylesbury. Lovely stuff!
Roine and Steve swapping guitar solos. Thank you two of my favourite guitar players of all time
Now Neal Morse and Steve Hackett -THAT is the nucleus of a GREAT GREAT band to come.
"The Return of The Giant Hogweed" such a killer song - well done lads!
Neal can do whatever he likes, its as good as gold. And his parody of PG is funny too
Wow! Excellent work Neal! Singing AND playing Tony's keyboard parts at the same time. A true vertuoso!
Maravilloso, portentoso... Hackett es inmortal...
"The Knife", "The Musical Box", "The Return of the Giant Hogweed", The Fountain of Salmacis", "Watcher of the Skies", "Supper's Ready", "Dancing with the Moonlit Knight", Firth of Fifth", "Dance on a Volcano" "Los Endos", and "One for the Vine" are all classic prog rock songs, and the vast majority of prog fans would say the same.
no saco ni pongo una sola coma o letra de tu comentario.. totalmente de acuerdo
"The Knife" was originally Ant Phillips.
To even be on the same stage with Steve Hackett.....Wow....
Truly incredible guitarist-songwriter.
This is phenomenal. I didn't care so much about Transatlantic before seeing this clip.
Mike Portnoy is allways happy when he plays with the"boys"of progressive rock.
masters of guitar prog
my unstopable covid song - GREAT
Fucking Awesome!
Plus one of the best ring slides ever filmed at about 7:30
Portnoy from 9:00 to the end is incredible! The last notes from the Hackett fingers are awesome...
Killer version!
I have been a genuine Genesis fan since the Seventies. Their versions of this classic song rocked like anything before. However, this version rocks too and can be an entrance for many new Genesis fans, who want to listen to the original after hearing this.
Pete Trewas of Marillion on bass. Great version of a Genesis classic. Steve as always a masterful performance.
Every comment is bashing the singer... I think he did good on his own, it's a cover, I assume you guys don't expect him to sound like Peter, right?
Personally, I don't like when bands do a cover of another band and the singer tries to immitate the original singer. In general they just sound like a pathetic copycat (The Musical Box doesn't count, because they are a cover band and they nail it, to boot).
I think they did it very respecfully and the singer sang with joy, like he was enjoying it. I liked it.
I agree bashing the singer is stupid, he sang some of it a little flat but he nailed much of it well enough, and his voice isn't annoying like I find some of the Gabes impersonators.
Sileithel Spot on! nice surprise and enjoyable occasion. If Genesis do not sing anymore let other people do it and enjoy!
I have changed my mind about tribute bands a bit, since I've seen a couple more, with Gabriel impersonators and they were great at that style. You can like the idea of imitation or not, but they were very good at what they did. So my opinion has changed a bit since I wrote that. I still think the same about the singer here.
If you're going to imitate Peter, then I like it when it's spot on.
If you're going to sing in your own voice, then great.
+Sileithel I agree!! The singer did a very good job with joy and energy, and don't forget Steve Hackett : brilliant! A very good moment, thanks!
It's not because he doesn't sound like Gabriel. It's because he does not have enough power, his extension is clearly limited and he sings half of his part in a difficult range for him. He also has trouble keeping the tune in the most demanding parts.
If this was a regional cover band, that would have been acceptable, but at this pro level, he's simply unacceptable.
That just got better and better as it progressed!
Beautiful editing on the camera work and just a 100% excellent work of art from ALL involved! Thank You! You all made my night all this time later!
Neal Morse, Portnoy, Gildenlow, Roine Stolt and Hackett on the same stage
Top notch interpretation of this great Genesis classic !!!!
This is about Hackett. And he sounded just like he did in the 70's. Fantastic.
OMG! This is awesome. With the best of the best.
Mindblowing. Love it!
please guys hire a drummer!
That's quite funny.
I've never heard of this band until today. O My GOD! I can't rest until I have every album.
They are indeed a powerhouse of a band, and their albums are art.
Thanks for this!

Me tengo que enorgullecer que aunque no aportamos músicos a esta banda, al final del video sale una bandera de España, al menos había publico español. Impresionante el estado de forma de Steve H.

And he also sings "Hogweed" on Steve Hackett's album "Genesis Revisited II". Furthermore, Neal Morse also sings "Dance on a Volcano" from "A Trick of the Tail" on Jordan Rudess' album "The Road Home".
11 minutes of pure joy...
Brilliant, Genesis with power, you can't ask for more!

Great song. I saw Transatlantic on that tour and they were awesome. They didn't do any covers, but played a really long time - practically all of their studio material.
