This was a dream, fairytale vindication for Mirjana, but she truly spent every shred of her emotional strength in the QF win over Pliskova and the dramatic on-court interview after that victory. I wish they’d stop that dumb tradition. Let the players calm down after a big win or big loss. Anyhow, Mirjana showed many examples of her great power in the SF, but she needed every mental cylinder firing for this match, and Serena was in Goddess Mode. Mirjana needed her top level and needed Serena to be a bit “off.” Serena wasn’t. She was ON. Still, Mirjana showed how she could hit and some of the rallies were pure shocking power. I think everyone left happy that day.
Love how Serena's at the net like "Sorry for having destroyed you". Mirjana like "Oh no, that's OK, Goddess. You played an incredible match." Serena like "Oh, thank you. You played a great match too. Wonderful job throughout the tournament." Mirjana like "You're welcome, Majesty. You truly are amazing. Much respect." Serena like "Ooh wow. You're really amazing too. Thank you."
