Tennis Twitter was ON FIRE during this match. So many people were watching and so many people enjoying it. These two bring out the best in each other in a way the other girls don't. Vika seemed to find this level toward the end of the year, and that's only a positive. The game needs her at a high level! And Serena is still around at 39. Incredible.

Best I've seen vika play in a long time. Still there but her inconsistency is letting her down. Hope she bounce back next season

For me, Vika was really the only one that could go toe-to-toe with Serena and present a challenge.

Its good for Azarenka, not the sport.
What's good for the sport is the best beating the rest.
If the best happened to be Azarenka, then so be it.
But that was code for "would it be great for someone to be good enough to beat Serena" .. and in the commentator's opinion _THAT_ would be good for the sport.
It's good for the sport because Azarenka at her highest level is a very high quality player and plays entertaining matches. Good players playing great matches is good for the sport.

When one goes on about the coulda/woulda/shoulda it comes off as a slight because it implies that the one who actually is great and is playing great and has consistently been great is somehow not enough.

J Smith Good lord. You're way too upset about this. Azarenka was a top player and one of the stars of the game for a few years. Anyone with sense would realize her playing her best is good for the game. It's really not that hard.

Even though their rivalry is kind of lopsided it is still very entertaining. Because most matches between them have been so physical and intense. It is amazing to watch both of them play against each other.
