I saw this movie 1st day 1st show. went because It was Ramu's film.Beeku Matre's hangover was there for many days. RGV is one of the Best film maker in Indian Cinema and introduced so many artists to Indian Cinema, miss his movies.
Nobody has mentioned here about the background score of the movie. I think it was also the main highlights of the film. Sandeep Chowtha did a remarkable job.
The pivotal moment in Hindi cinema is this masterpiece. It was a rare moment when it stood head and shoulders with World Cinema. Phenomenal actors, writers and a phenomenal director. The success of a film is the impact it creates and how even after so many years, people remember it. 'Satya' went one step further in which it even influenced pop culture. Just imagine the references that people still use from this film.
Thank you for bringing back the memories of watching satya...its one of the best underworld movie made in india and the way Ramu showed mumbai in satya no one explore that side before. Beautiful.

One scene that I found the best out of satya was , when bhau was killed amidst ganpati visarjan . The allegory that they drew at that moment was something that I had got shaken by , also the moment when bhau's body floats and everything around him drowns into the silence of post destruction. Samandar gulps whatever comes its way , mightiest of mighties are fringe before this mighty Samandar.
I watch lot of talk shows in realm of film making. This specific one is by far the best one i cherished listening to Satya. Presence of Ramu made my day. Heard him in a talk show for the first time. Love from Canada.
Manoj Bajpayee standing at sea side of the enormous Mumbai landscape, with that sinister and crazy laughter celebrating his victory by shouting to the entire city: "Mumbai ka don kaun, Bhiku Mhatra". #Iconic
RGV has been a celluloid scientist who keeps experimenting with various ways of film making and stories, some might work well and some may not, but he always tries to explore new avenues! Unmatchable Director, actually The Director of the Directors!
I watched Satya in December 2023 for the first time and was completely blown away by the cinematography, world-building, and storytelling of the film. It felt like watching a documentary or a hollywood-level cinematic recording of a sting operation. The characters were so real and relatable that I forgot about the actors' other films and accepted them as the characters of Satya. The dramatic orchestral music only heightened the appeal of the unfolding storyline. It was hard to believe that such a feat could be achieved in 1998. This movie is one of the finest masterpieces of Bollywood. It should be studied and taught in film schools. Hats off to its creators, cast, and crew members. And thanks a million to everyone involved in the making of this anniversary video! 💗🥰
Satya is like a mystical character. We don't know who he is where he came from, no commentary given on his appearance, it just starts off a new person visits Bombay the city of dreams with no dreams. And best part is everyone else in the movie is also clueless about him like the audience - "Hai kya hai yeh Satya". RGV you are a cult of personality to create this cult classic. What he did here was simply magic.
I remember watching this movie in Borivali West the week it came out. Actually i had gone to watch one of those Pyaar movies being talked about but didnt get ticket.😂 I have never seen, before or after, the connect a movie has with audience. People laughing at Chander's joke ( Poora Mumbai lafde mein blast ho gaya aur Satya ekdam fast ho gaya!), Manoj Vajapayees acting, Bhaudas Jhawle you name. After watching the movie i remember walking back home ro Kandivali. No auto no nothing. Just walking away with memories. What a movie!!
I was an infant when Satya rlsd, Watched it only few yrs ago but the film didnt lose anything to age!! It's still impactful and never felt like outdated!! I cant say that for any other film rlsd way back in the 90s
The current bollywood stands on the shoulder of Satya. Few urecognised actors in the movie are Manoj Pahwa, Sanjay Mishra, Sushant Singh and many more.

It's worth mentioning that the success of "Satya" was not only attributed to the actors but also to RGV's direction, storytelling, and technical prowess. RGV's innovative camera work, gripping screenplay, and realistic depiction of Mumbai's underworld contributed to the film's success and its lasting impact on Indian cinema. Manoj Bajpayee as Bhiku Mhatre: Manoj Bajpayee's portrayal of Bhiku Mhatre, an influential gangster, was widely appreciated. His nuanced performance showcased his versatility as an Saurabh Shukla as Kallu Mama: Saurabh Shukla played the role of Kallu Mama, a quirky and cunning character. His impeccable comic timing and portrayal of a gangster's right-hand man added an entertaining element to the film. Overall, "Satya" stands as a testament to RGV's filmmaking skills and his ability to bring out remarkable performances from his actors.

The irony is that the lead pair is not there which shows that RGV's movies were much more than that which was not the case in bollywood back then. He gave so much emphasis on various characters and the actors playing those characters have become legends now
The fact that when I go through these comments proves that all the fans of RGV are so intelligent to get his brilliance
I’m surprised there was no mention of Gerard Cooper - the cinematographer of the film.. The way that guy has shot Mumbai.. No Indian in the history of Indian cinema is able to do that! A loud shout out for Geri Cooper!!
Indeed.
I'm elated finally someone said this. Also credit to Mazhar Kamran who took over cinematography in the midst and maintained the benchmark.
Jay Oza Gully boy? Although Satya cinematography is much better. Top 5 films for me for Bollywood!
Gerard shot only for 1 week of the principle photography. He had to go back coz his visa time was over. He was there for 6 months in Mumbai, but they didn't shoot much in that 6 months coz they were just doing workshops and test shoots. Satya was shot for 2 yrs
Source: rgv said in an interview
More than 2 yrs I guess
I saw this movie 1st day 1st show. went because It was Ramu's film.Beeku Matre's hangover was there for many days. RGV is one of the Best film maker in Indian Cinema and introduced so many artists to Indian Cinema, miss his movies.
Damn ! I was 5 when i watched this film in theatre with my parents . Today , I feel so so privileged watching it in a big screen .
It is one of the best movies i adore since my childhood. #RGVSupremacy ❤
Nobody has mentioned here about the background score of the movie. I think it was also the main highlights of the film. Sandeep Chowtha did a remarkable job.
Yes 👍
100% his work is wonderful
The pivotal moment in Hindi cinema is this masterpiece. It was a rare moment when it stood head and shoulders with World Cinema. Phenomenal actors, writers and a phenomenal director. The success of a film is the impact it creates and how even after so many years, people remember it. 'Satya' went one step further in which it even influenced pop culture. Just imagine the references that people still use from this film.
I watched this in a packed theater with audiences dancing & screaming and totally enjoying the experience
Thank you for bringing back the memories of watching satya...its one of the best underworld movie made in india and the way Ramu showed mumbai in satya no one explore that side before. Beautiful.
Say what you want about RGV losing his sheen, this interview proves that even now he is streets ahead of other directors in the way he looks at films. He’s not just a consummate director, he’s a colossus of talent. Hope he makes a comeback. He’s due.
And at the beginning of that scene you hear ganesh Aarti in the background
I watch lot of talk shows in realm of film making. This specific one is by far the best one i cherished listening to Satya. Presence of Ramu made my day. Heard him in a talk show for the first time.
Love from Canada.
No matter what he is doing now RGV always my one of all time favorites. The man who brought real cinema in bollywood at that time.
Really want to see a conversation with rgv and kashyap together
RGV a true film maker😊 and never take the credit of success. Brilliant person
Manoj Bajpayee standing at sea side of the enormous Mumbai landscape, with that sinister and crazy laughter celebrating his victory by shouting to the entire city: "Mumbai ka don kaun, Bhiku Mhatra". #Iconic
Everytime Anupama looks at Ramu she’s thinking “oh what a genius… kya ho gaya issko”
RGV has been a celluloid scientist who keeps experimenting with various ways of film making and stories, some might work well and some may not, but he always tries to explore new avenues! Unmatchable Director, actually The Director of the Directors!
In its core , satya is a movie which shows human emotions naked..and we can relate to it at any time ..
Thank u Anupama. For the real interview with real people of Indian cinema 🙏
It's our honour to be able to platform them :)
RGV screen presence and authority and conviction is so evident!
It’s great to listen to Ramu. Straight to the point and just great
Satya is like a mystical character.
Actually i had gone to watch one of those Pyaar movies being talked about but didnt get ticket.😂
I have never seen, before or after, the connect a movie has with audience.
One like for Film Companion for bringing this team together ❤️. Can't thank you enough..
We used to talk about Nayagan in the late 80s like this film. Proud of such films
ram gopal varma is such an underrated legend
Comeon bhai Ram gopal Verma is not underrated he has enjoyed fame
how can he be underrated when his talent is shown to all over india
Underrated? WTF 😂 absolutely not
He is one of the all time top10 directors in Indian cinema and you are saying underrated may be you are born after 2010
I was an infant when Satya rlsd, Watched it only few yrs ago but the film didnt lose anything to age!!
@@moviesfunzmania2k24 Vishal Bharadwaj as a music director as well.
RGV is always a brilliant filmmaker even if his current films are bombing .. he literally changed the process of film making … whether it’s the lighting, camera angles , music , background score , the edits and every other aspect …
I just hope he is back at making more films with better commitment..
Wow, what an incredible milestone! Congratulations to the entire team of Film Companion and Anupama Chopra for conducting a remarkable interview with the cast of the iconic Hindi film Satya on its 25th anniversary. It's truly remarkable to see such a significant film being celebrated and acknowledged even after a quarter of a century.
Thank you for giving us a glimpse into the making of this masterpiece and allowing us to relive the magic. The insights shared by the actors and the behind-the-scenes stories must have been absolutely fascinating.
Satya holds a special place in the hearts of cinephiles, and your initiative to commemorate this milestone is praiseworthy. It's wonderful to see the film's impact being recognized and celebrated. It's a testament to its enduring legacy and the talent of the entire team involved.

this feels like a ChatGPT response lol
Hahaha gotta love RGV - even in the middle of this conversation, “and your husband made Kerala Story”👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 still telling it like it is
My favourite scene is the jewellery shop scene when Chander asks Bhikhu to buy gifts for couple of his 'girlfriends '.
I remember I was in school when one of my bossom friend came talking so highly of this film. He narrated the scene mentioned above and we all were sold for the first show next day in the only cinema theatre in my town. We liked it so much that we watched one show everyday four the entire week.
Great film.
Why haven’t they considered a re-release of Satya …it would be great to watch this film in a theatre ❤❤❤
Absolutely, infact I was checking in bookmyshow
SERIOUSLY
No. It would tarnish its great reputation. Chashmebaddoor, Gadar 1 and some other classics were re released too and were removed after two days. Its a bad idea. Film theatres dont work on emotions. It costs money.
@@andy-pf5hsre release culture is not so popular in Bollywood atleast currently but currently in South re released movies are making crores just in one day
I specifically proposed this idea to Ramu in a tweet. Looks like he didn't look at it.
There can never be another Satya. He is definitely a Maverick, and also sharing the film-making process.
It’s a treat to listen to RGV.
One of those interviews where you don’t realize that you were watching this for an hour. I got emotional at many places and I wasn’t even part of this film. I want to give credit to Film Companion who at least give credit to such incredible films.
It would be worth to make a 'Making of Satya' documentary, with the whole cast and crew.
Please take your time, script it out, and insert the 'happy incidents' and surprise yourselves.
MASTER PIECE....JAISE SHOLAY dobara nahi ban sakti waise hi Satya cannnot remake in Simple Word wohi Time dobara nahi aa sakta no matter how much money effort u put its done.......❤🌷🙏
RGV's Golden Era!! Now it's all about what he has done during that time. Everyone has to ignore what he is doing now. He has given more than what is required for the film industry. He is like now that old school teacher who was admired by all his students for what he has taught. Now neither the school exists nor the teacher.
#satya #manojbajpayee #filmcompanion #SatyaReunion #25Years #RGV #ShefaliShah #SaurabhShukla
When Manoj speaks about Ramu, I can see that freaking conviction in his eyes that he’s so overwhelmed even recalling that while talking this, that he might cry even speaking this ❤
I hope this one should never end...totally Engaging!!
I have watched this movie countless times since I first watched it when it released during my college days. No other gangster movie has come close. Every single character was perfect. No other movie had such a perfect casting.
Watched it for the first time on its 25th anniversary on tv😁(i heard about it alot in the past) and loved it...every actor nailed it with their performance 🙌
i hardly watch such long interviews but this was special.......the characters are still fresh and loved knowing behind the scenes
His nuanced performance showcased his versatility as an
Saurabh Shukla as Kallu Mama: Saurabh Shukla played the role of Kallu Mama, a quirky and cunning character. His impeccable comic timing and portrayal of a gangster's right-hand man added an entertaining element to the film.
Overall, "Satya" stands as a testament to RGV's filmmaking skills and his ability to bring out remarkable performances from his actors.

Last minutes of this interview, Manoj had tears in his eyes, talking about the Satya & the bigger dent it has put up in the bang of cinema
RGV was woke before we knew the word woke in India. Movies he made back then had the impact for us millenials, which is like a staple for today's generation - but that's why we understand the value of it. RGV & Kashyap- The disruptors hindi cinema needed
One of the few best hindi films I have ever seen in my life..... Ramu was too good back then...... And Baaju bhai is an absolute legend.... Period.
