Soo proud to be an Indian first but to see so many South Indian directors being invited and applauding them for their work! Such simple guys these are!! 😍😍😍
I think many of them explained what Nelson actually did with Jailer. Yes, it was all this slow-mo mass elevating scenes but he absolutely redefined it. To make such big stars in the film to do ntg yet bring the mass factor out by their planned executions was indeed refreshing. Now, that's a redefining commercial cinema. To make thalaivar be a regular guy and give a comeback at the right time with the right screenplay was such a refreshing moment.
Really happy to see Nelson get the credit he deserves. He deserves this year, especially given how Sudha Kongara hasn't done anything in 3 years and she still got invited for a roundtable. Directors who actually released a movie this year should be given immediate consideration.
Vetri long shot basically means he took a challenge and decided to tell a story with his long shot and allow audience to understand the rest. He was concerned about individual cuts might deviate the audience attention from the bigger story. Such long shots you can see in Fargo, directors like Cohen brothers tend to do long shots often.
Of all the directors who are here, so happy to see Jeo Baby give credit to the two writers of Kaathal, Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Skaria. Proud that he used this platform to promote Shruthy Saranyam’s (LGBTQI+ filmmaker) movie B12 to B44 vare which faced multiple hurdles for release. Jeo Baby is an excellent example of walking the talk-when you use the seat at the table that you earned to spotlight others who don’t have it yet! For those complaining about his English, his words have far more impact than any of the others there in stark contrast to Karan Johar. And to the Vanga fans, watch Jeo Baby’s Kaathal-The Core, another excellent example of men who are super secure in their manhood and talent that they can tell the story of a homosexual individual and their family with deep sensitivity and empathy. Kudos to Mammotty, artist and human being par excellence!
What an amazing show where we got to see and hear some of my favourite directors. Can't wait for the end of the year when I can see SSE side B on amazon prime. Waiting for viduthalai 2. Must catch Jigardhanda duplex and Kathal the core in the OTT platforms. It would be wonderful if FCS can announce the dates for the OTT releases of the films of all these directors. Thanks.
Kudos to FC for this Roundtable. What a choice Filmmaker you guys have brought this year. Also, Anu mam, you have mastered the skill of interviewing. Absolutely loved it.
Why haven't you invited any Marathi directors to the Roundtable 2023? Best marathi film list in 2023: Vaalvi- paresh mokashi Tendalya - Sachin Jadhav Nachiket Waikar Territory - Sachin Shriram Aatmapamphlet - Ashish Bende Shyamchi Aai - sujay dahake Naal 2: Sudhakar Reddy Yakkanti
Vetrimaaran has built good reputation. His all films are hit. That's why Viduthalai Producer is not afraid of budget. He knew that the movie will become superhit and he will get the money. If its vetrimaaran's film Dhanush will say ok to act without even asking story. Even if I have crores of money I will give money to make his dream project without any compromise.
Absolutely LOVED seeing such diversity in both the Director’s and Actor’s roundtable. Thank you for all the work that the FC team put into setting these up.

So...how many years before a Screenwriters' Adda? I mean there's constant lip service how crucial good scripts are for movies got damn! We want to hear what writers have to say!! ❤
A possible list for Screenwriters adda Juhi Chathurvedi Bhavani Iyer Syam Pushkaran Varun Grover Also there should be a separate adda for filmmakers who exclusively write their own scripts. That's a very unique trait too.
I think there are enough platforms that hear Director's experiences. And despite a lot of director's writing their own movies, weak scripts is still a problem in the mainstream space. Trained Screenwriters' have started streaming into the film industry since the formation of the Screenwriting Course at FTII in Pune. We want to hear how the hell are these guys surviving and what are they doing to tell their stories?

Apart from watching Vetrimaran, Karthik Subburaj and Nelson amongst these amazing directors. I was happy to see Jeo being able to convey things in his own way, despite english not being a language he is comfortable with, it can be very overwhelming for a person in such a scenario but I am glad he got through it by communicating and getting things across in his own way. Shows that when it comes to art you have to have a good hold of the language you are making films in and you have to be good in the art of film making which all of these people are.. Want to see films mentioned in the video especially Sapta Sagaradaache Ello and Kaathal.. Great presentation yet again by Anupama..
In my opinion, it's crucial not only to involve directors and actors in discussions but also to include other essential technicians such as directors of photography (DOPs), editors, VFX artists, art directors, and music directors. Bringing together this diverse range of expertise can greatly enrich the collaborative discourse."
If their work is just comercial & meaningless stuff , not necessary to bring those guys tbh ... Only if their work elavated the movie , next level then yeah .

Vetri could easily be the most philosophically right and commercially successful director now.. he's clearly above par comparing his contemporary film makers
That means you don't know karthick...

He is master of making Non linear movies. Vada Chennai is one of the best movie in India. Detailing, Characterization will be master piece and script is flawless in his movies. I suggest u to watch Aadukalam first
Start with Visaranai pls..
Vetrimaaran is in a league of his own. Viduthalai was a work of art. How he made the audience sympathize for both sides. He is so good at depicting the shades of grey in humanity. 🔥
Vetrimaaran the OG🔥 33:25 to 37:50.. literally bangedd🔥🔥

Very engaging roundtable. All of them spoke straight from the heart, no pretensions. Highly impressed by the way Hemant Rao was so articulate. He is so genuine, every word he speaks touches your heart. Was amazed by Karan Johar 's insights too. It's not often that he lets us have a peek into this aspect of him.

Such profound thought processes and brought to the table by Hemanth Rao. Amazing to see directors discussing the challenges they faced in great detail, and their approach and thought process in different circumstances. Konkona listens so keenly and is absolutely involved in the discussion. So much to learn from how she conducted herself. It’s a delight to hear the directors of the South Indian film industry talk about their experiences, and narrate the sincerity and dedication they have towards their craft and their vision for a cinema!
VetriSir's final speach is lit 🔥 he sarcastically teased Hindi Cinema 😂😂😂😂
Straightaway teased. :)
What an honour for Hemant Rao! Directors like Karan & Karthik picking SSE as their favourites of 2023! Finally Namma Kannada Cinema receiving much deserved appreciation. All thanks to Rakshit Shetty and Hemanth Rao

Vada chennai (Dhanush in lead)
Aadukalam (Dhanush in lead)
Visaranai
Polladhavan
Viduthalai
Paava kathaigal one episode
Visaranai should be there in the above list.

Actually BR called him last year also for Galatta plus round table. That’s where I noticed him first, he alone made sense among the whole lot last year. Do check that out also.
Loved this. The concept of a director roundtable is such a treat for cinephiles. Listening to Vetrimaaran is almost like attending a masterclass on how to make films. Thank you for this!

Soo proud to be an Indian first but to see so many South Indian directors being invited and applauding them for their work! Such simple guys these are!! 😍😍😍
Abbhinaya ? Your name is South Indian too
Actors roundtable: eager to talk about themselves
Directors roundtable: eager to listen about everyone else .
Basically it's EGO VS TALENT
V right
Actors are like that... They just want to talk about themselves. It about selling themselves all the time for them.
Vetri's bold statement started 1:22:38 that too infront of Karan Joker 😂
I think many of them explained what Nelson actually did with Jailer. Yes, it was all this slow-mo mass elevating scenes but he absolutely redefined it. To make such big stars in the film to do ntg yet bring the mass factor out by their planned executions was indeed refreshing. Now, that's a redefining commercial cinema. To make thalaivar be a regular guy and give a comeback at the right time with the right screenplay was such a refreshing moment.
True
Yes bro
Really happy to see Nelson get the credit he deserves. He deserves this year, especially given how Sudha Kongara hasn't done anything in 3 years and she still got invited for a roundtable.
Directors who actually released a movie this year should be given immediate consideration.
They wanted female representation that's all
This is Konkana Sen Sharma, not Sudha Kongura. Get your facts right.
Vetrimaran-KarthikSubbaraj-Nelson... ❤❤❤❤ U never exclude Tamil directors in Indian Cinemaa
Jeo baby...kathal the core❤❤
Hemanth with that wide smile throughout vetri's story
I can watch Konkana's reaction for hours!
Yes.. she was such a treat to watch and listen to !

Love how Konkona listens to everyone so attentively
So...how many years before a Screenwriters' Adda? I mean there's constant lip service how crucial good scripts are for movies got damn! We want to hear what writers have to say!! ❤
Absolutely true!!!! So much lip service but how often do the script writers get invited for an invigorating discussion on the art of screen writing.
A possible list for Screenwriters adda
Juhi Chathurvedi
Bhavani Iyer
Syam Pushkaran
Varun Grover
Also there should be a separate adda for filmmakers who exclusively write their own scripts. That's a very unique trait too.
they used to do that before covid
Unfortunately Nelson Karthik and Vetri write their own scripts don’t they
I think there are enough platforms that hear Director's experiences.
This roundtable is just gold❤ after baddy's roundtable and actors on actors seeing this what an amazing year end. And anupama chopra is great as always in conducting roundtables.
