Hi Sandy, you're one of the few beaders I've come across that actually teaches about the wires needing to be parallel and about the difference between crimp brads and tubes! Thank you! My very first beading lesson years ago, taught me how to flatten a crimp tube. Nothing about tools or parallel wires or even crimp beads. So it was years before I discovered how badly I'd been taught. I don't own this crimper, but I find using round crimps and flatten with chain nose pliers, forms an oval shape without the sharp corners of the flattened tubes. After watching you do this, I might consider getting one. 😃👍🏼
Glad you found it helpful, Jen. I think I've only heard that thing about parallel wires from one other person, but thought it was important enough to pass along! Sadly, although there is a lot of free information out there, there is also a lot of BAD information, lol.
This is a very helpful video about this crimper. The big advantage is that you don't have to turn the bead to exactly the right angle for the second step, because there is no second step! However, if you are having problems with crimping beads or tubes slipping using the traditional tools, it's because your tool is too large for your bead. Crimpers come in 3 sizes: Mighty, Standard, and Micro. So try one size down, and you should be just fine. Micro works extremely well with the smallest wires and crimps tubes or beads.

I have had three Bead Buddy 1 Step Crimper tools. The first one served me well for quite some time and I loved it. When it came time to replace it I purchased another. It seemed to be very cheaply constructed compared to the first one and it came apart after two uses. I replaced it again thinking perhaps I had accidentally gotten a defective one. The third replacement also jammed up after a few uses. I have decided not to purchase a fourth one since their seems to be a issue with the current design.
Oh, that’s a bummer. I love using mine whenever possible!
I love mine. I prefer tubes and I have a plier that takes a crimped tube and makes it a round bead.

I have always been told not to use the flat nose pliers, but it works for me with no issues. I have been thinking of getting it, but I only use 1.5mm crimps so not sure if it will work.
Flattening the crimps with pliers does work, it’s just not the most attractive look. If you’re going to cover the flattened crimp with a crimp cover, then it doesn’t really matter.

I totally agree with you on the tubes and the crimping pliers. I had so much issues. This is a pretty need tool. Have you made a video pertaining on the simple loop tool? I like to hear someone's feedback on that product. Thanks for the information on this tool!
I guess its the individual but for me it would be the crimp bead. I had too many frustrating issues with the tubes. lol I am looking forward to the Looper video! YAY!

I have rhis tool as well. Could you tell me what size of crimp tube do uou use on your beading projects? Also , if you use Illusion cord is there a crimp that woeks best? Thank you for all of your videos. I am learning a great deal.
It seems like a big tool for such small crimps. Nobody demonstrates this tool with a full strand of beads. Does it fit between the beads?
That’s a very good question!
Usually we leave a little bit of slack in the wire, so it fits just fine.
There is the rare occasion it is too bulky to fit into the space you need, but most of the time it’s not a problem.

How does it work when you have a full string of beads on! I use wire guards and I find my old fashion crimp tool will sometimes pinch the wire guard. How well does this work with those.
Debra, if you are trying to pull the crimps too tightly and too close to the beads you will have the problems you describe, like pinching the wire guard. I always suggest pulling the beads snug, then back it off about 1/8-inch or 3mm before crimping. This not only allows your beads to hang more gracefully, but gives plenty of room for the Crimper to work. Don't worry about the small amount of wire that may be showing, it's better to have your beads hanging nicely.

Hi.. I hope your still around and can still reply to my comment... I started jewelry making not that long ago.. I struggle with crimping.. uggg.. But every bracelet or necklace I make ~ I use Fireline ~ Does this work with Fireline ?
That's a very good question, Rojeania. Crimps are made for using with beading wire and you will not get good results if you try using them with thread such as Fireline. They will likely cut through the thread at some point in the life of the piece of jewelry, if not very shortly after crimping. A better finish for jewelry made with Fireline or any other beading thread would be bead tips. Hope this helps, happy creating!
I wonder if this would work with 1mm crimps? Plus thinner wire like the 0.010 size?
I have found it doesn't work so great on smaller crimps.
I have a very very tiny link chain,,i cannot find anythin g to put on the end to hold a jump ring,,,such a small link,,any ideas please
Angela, I had a similar issue with some tiny chain I wanted to repair. What I did was pull out my stash of wire and see which size would fit into my tiny links. It turned out to need 24 gauge. Then I did a search on Amazon and found 24 gauge jump rings. They are teeeeeeny, but with the help of my magnifying lamp I was able to to the repair.

I tried four types of crimps including the ones attached. Very very poor results. Untidy looking twisted crimps and wire inside, no folding. Huge disappointment for that kind of money
Huh. I'm sorry to hear that. I wonder if you got a defective tool? I've had great results with mine with many kinds of crimps.
