There are many different types of plate interactions and earthquakes. Even the local geology (i.e., what types of rock compose the landscape) will alter the way earthquake waves travel and are experienced.
@@squamishfish I've seen studies that Canada has done on the effects in Vancouver, BC and there will be significant effects. I believe what I saw was underwater mapping of the coastline and islands to predict where tsunami waves could impact and cause the most damage. There's information out there somewhere. The important factor is the length of the fault line and if there is a partial rupture or a full rupture. A partial rupture would be devastating, but the portion(s) of the coastline and inland furthest from the epicenter could see little or no quake damage, although they would still be at risk for a tsunami. A full rupture would cause earthquake damage along the entire length of the coast and inland parallel to the fault rupture. The rupture in 1700 occurred from Oregon, north along the entire length of Vancouver Island and they've found at least some deposits from that tsunami in the channel or inlet on the other side of Vancouver Island, not just the coast facing side. Once the tsunami wave travelled inland through that gap where it's no longer open ocean, the water sort of acted like a cue ball on a pool table as it hit land. The shape of the channel underwater also influenced where the water was directed because more water kept pushing inland so it couldn't just immediately flow back out to sea like a wave hitting an open beach. The water was like a ball on a pool table that travels until it hits something and is deflected in another direction until it hits something again and is deflected again in a different direction and so on until it runs out of energy.

How bout cheaper real estate prices along the coast?
Oceanfront to Ocean bottom 😮
Compared to the Willamette Valley, prices that I've seen on the coast are dirt cheap.
Can anyone say HAARP And can anyone tell me has the crimes against humanity stopped in the sky let's hope somebody's going to prison
HAARP was shut down in 2014, but there are probably other stations that are working.
So how much is the tax Oregon will impose for plate tectonics they tax you for everything and anything they can think of . Oregon says thiers no sales tax, but thier is its already in the price .
I’m bailing east fast if this happens
You and a million other people. This was my plan when I first learned of the CSZ, and I wish you the best of luck, but between the traffic congestion and rock slides, it becomes a less feasible option.
No good unless you bail east BEFORE it happens
unless you have a helipcopter
It never happen in our life time
Never say never
Hundred of thousands deaths...
Oregon - you have far, far, far bigger problems to deal with than tsunamis & quakes 😂
45 million, I think not!
Why is he smiling and talking?
Yes. I was thinking the same thing. NOT normal!!!!!
I was just thinking that! Dr. Goldfinger looks much too happy talking about mass death and destruction!
MAYBE because more people are FINALLY talking about this--BE AWARE & PREPARE!

Noooo, GOD has thte last word on how it goes.
Yes and listen to David Wilkerson he prophecised about this happening in america back in 1973

None of us knows earth's next earthquake/tsunami and the magnitude that follows. We all must learn from each other, including Japan's Tohoku earthquake/tsunami disaster
I live on the Smith River about 4miles from the ocean, about 7miles up river. If this hits I will have a 300' wave go over my head and up the river. If its really big Medford will get flooded w salty mud flows.
Medford will not get flooded, lol, its at 1300 ft in elevation
Tsunamis lose height as they travel inland, all you have to do at your location is walk uphill to be safe from a tsunami. The smith is also not pointed at the ocean so unless its a very large wave there may not be any water damage at all.
Jesus is coming soon look up our redemption is near Jesus shed his blood on the cross and rose on the third day in order to give us salvation and eternal life Amen thank you Jesus 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

You guys are so funny I've been in at least a dozen earthquakes in my life.. I was in the big San Francisco earthquake during the playoff game in baseball.. you guys have no clue what the f*** you're talking about like unless you actually lived in one
There are many different types of plate interactions and earthquakes. Even the local geology (i.e., what types of rock compose the landscape) will alter the way earthquake waves travel and are experienced.

So according to to this Vancouver and Victoria BC will be ok , only Washington and Oregon will be affected 😮
it's just an Oregon based channel, so they are only talking about Oregon
@@erinrising2799 ahhh they mentioned Seattle and the Washington coast line , nothing to do with Oregon when I went to School
