Something about the section starting at 4:20 is just orchestral and awesome. I wish more people could, if not really like it, at least appreciate the orchestration and musicality of this, not just seeing it as metal. Obviously there is a purely orchestral section at the end, but even before that the music is really so much more than just noise.
This is exactly why I love Periphery!! They take so much into consideration when it comes to the instrumentals!! It's like they're telling a story when they incorporate the orchestral parts in their songs
it hits so much harder with the vocals. so much better with them. however, the intro sounds better without the vocals - but overall, spencer takes this song to a whole new level.
There is no effect (other than delay and reverb on top of some distortion ofc), what he plays is the exact same note on 2 different strings, one after another, while slightly sliding into the note + a tiny amount of bending/vibrato. The strings have different sizes and the note is placed on different frets, which gives the note a slight variation in character.
Taylor Gallegos I'm peripheral, I'm replying from my main account but I ended redoing flatline from scratch. I went back and listened to it and for some damn reason it had too much bass.. it wasn't intentional I prob made a mistake cause it's easy to when you have 13 layers going.
SeasonsWither90 sounds like 4/4 with syncopated accents. It helps if you count in 8th notes. The first two measures place snare accents on the 3, then two more on the up beats, which is why it sounds like a polyrhythm but it's not, just a syncopation. The following 2 measures place the snare accents appropriately on the 3 and 7. The 3rd and 4th measures of the groove are really what gives away the 4/4 feel.
@@calderonugaldesalvador1662 Yes it is bars of 5/4 with inserts of one bar of 2/4 every 7th 5/4 bar. See detailed analysis of the song here: ua-cam.com/video/3akt-KyKSvM/v-deo.html
I can't be the only one who thought Periphery's album mixes were loudness war junk compared to the original demos. Sure, the demos weren't good mixes by any degree. But the professional mixes just lack dynamic entirely, and I find it tiresome to have to listen to. I pretty much dropped Periphery not long after the first album came out because of that. Came back to listen to some of the demos and my opinion hasn't changed. I just don't understand why they did that to their album.
That heavy outro part when it switches from minor to major is awesome!
I love that part. So much feeling in that riff.
Pure brilliance!
Probably the sickest outro I’ve heard man 🤘🏻
One of the best ever ❤

This made my life. Can't thank you enough for sharing this.
no one's talking about how good the part starting at 2:35 sounds?
3:42 the second part of the solo gives me chills, it’s so good!
I'm not really that into metal, but this is AWESOME all the instrumental songs 10/10.

The one person who disliked this must not listen to real music
The 5 people, but yes, horrifically tragic
Theres no such thing as 'real music'.
I feel like I'm losing my hearing in my right ear, and the mix of the violins in the outro really freaked me the hell out
3:22 just hit different
i like spencer singing in this song but i like this instrumental
Is there some inspiration from 'Breaking Benjamin' in this soundtrack? It's really good!
2:04 The guitar sounds a bit like a talkbox but that must not be it, there's an effect on it but I don't know what it is
he's just tapping the tremolo
@@versalgraphics you think it's just a tremolo? It might be this
I don’t think there’s an effect, but he’s sliding to the same note on two adjacent strings.
Slide with octave tapping

Taylor Gallegos Thanks again! Take your time my friend. Keep up the good work.

+Peripheral Word. I did very little work to this. I actually plan on redoing it.

YES!
Letal bass!!
Does anyone know the time signature of the pre-chorus beginning at 1:36? I'm studying this song for an assignment.

Taylor Gallegos This has really been helpful. Thank you. Also, absolutely incredible instrumentation in this beast of a track!

if only the bitrate was higher
try 1080p my friend
Much better without this emo-Bieber on lead vocal.
Hope you're kiddin
Wow really just wow
If you can’t appreciate Spencer’s vocals don’t listen to periphery
I expect a response like this from a goober with the most corny try-hard skull avatar like some Gen X biker
