My theory is that he got kill while banging on the door to escape(like in many horror movies) but he was never infected as he would be later used as bio mass for the proto gravemind. The question I've always wanted an answer to is: why aren't the highly advanced combat skins of ancient Humans and Forerunners effective at keeping out a life form like a Flood spore? I mean, these suits are essentially tanks built to withstand heavy damage from advanced weapons fire and keep out hard vacuum and extreme temperatures for extended times. You would think the absolute LEAST they should be able to do is keep out organic lifeforms.
because the flood keep learning. The flood is always as strong the race that they fought. When they fought humans the will use humans weaponry. When the fight forerunners the will use the forerunners arsenal. Sorry late for three years
4 years late, but because has many small tentacles with as described in the book have "razor-like tendrils."
Honestly, I can't see the Flood being able to realistically puncture ODST armor. The reason for this is fairly simple...the Flood use re-purposed bone and skin.
@@Sinn0100 pretty sure they scavenge and develop enemy weaponry that can easily puncture through. The flood we encounter is a lot less dangerous than before because 1. they didnt have enough mass 2. our weapons are not as advanced
@@xuepingsong5329
Okay, alright, I get it. Thanks for the response man. ;)
I honestly believe the flood infection can't be properly cured. Due to the unique way it was created (that being literal star dust that a precursor broke itself down into that decayed over thousands of years) it's far beyond what we would call an infection in our modern day tech. A lounge time ago, the precursors were at war with the Forerunners because the Forerunners wanted the mantle of responsibility, which was given to the humans. One by one the precursors were dying, despite being so damn powerful so one precursor decided to avoid this conflict and broke himself down into dust so that he would be able to recollect himself in the future, and wether he knew it or not, the dust would decay over the years and would turn into the flood parasite, and then he would be reformed into the Gravemind.
The Gravemind's consciousness is literally a reincarnated version of the precursor, and the flood is also a part of that reincarnation. This also explains why a Gravemind collects knowledge through it's victims because once a person has become a flood form, all their memories and knowledge becomes part of the flood consciousness. This also explains why if a Gravemind dies, a new one can be made and the previous Gravemind's knowledge transfers to the newer one. This means that the flood NEVER stop learning and advancing and this, combined with the strength of the flood, is one of the reasons why the forerunners lost the war to the flood.
That's why the flood and the Gravemind are so deadly, they can communicate with each other in the most perfect way, their minds. Because the flood IS just one mind. That's why they all do have ONE goal. Because all forms of the flood is literally the same being, all down to the microscopic level.
In Halo 3, the flood advance to a higher stage of their lethality, meaning they've infected enough to advance to the next stage of infectivity. You know about this when you hear a certain one said by an elite - "...the flood, it has evolved." The flood tank forms in Halo 3 (or more properly known as a flood super cell or FSC) can shape shift because its 'muscles' can think. The microbes that transmit the flood parasite have their own consciousness and trying to cure a being that has lived for hundreds and thousands of years and is extremely intelligent can be a bit of a problem.
It took me years to fully grasp the concept of the flood and I'm still not sure if I got it all down.
I love the flood...
Corynthius agreed we would need technology that is at precursor level and the human race doesn't posses that technology
Corynthius I just had a thought the flood is corrupted precursor DNA correct?

That guy across the street step 4: repeat
Well if ure step would actually work halo wouldn't be a game because they already did that and the flood don't starve so
1000000 isn't enough because the flood can go into stasis as shown in halo wars 2 dlc awakening the nightmare so the only way to do this is for humanity to win the primordials challenge for the mantle of responsibility
nunny 117 actually the halo rings did technically work it's just they freaking kept some flood for study like morons
Gary the Stormtrooper if the forerunners were smart instead of keeping live specimens they should have kept recordings and data on the flood preserved so that once a civilization was advanced enough they could study these recordings and prepare for the flood before hand way before hand.

Vanquish not really humanity was expanding into their space and "attacking" their world's
The people who were thought to be immune in Halo were actually willingly spared by the Flood, who deemed them to be potential candidates for the Mantle of Responsibility. The only immunity to flood cells is worthiness of the Mantle.
Since the flood cell changes the host's cells so that they become rotten, what if the host has a fast enough regenerative ability that it can out-heal the flood cell and sort of just leave it in a constant loop, so they be semi-infected
could the prometheans recognize other humans and remember their past?

the prometheans were composed of ancient humans, before the rest of ancient humanity was devolved, meaning that there is only one ancient human still "alive", Chakas, who is guilty spark, and his location is currently unknown. if the primary way of infection is the nervous system, then really, you need to only do one of two thing, either completely replace the nervous system or find a way to fully protect it. I have theories on both that are within reason.
for replacement, you could replace the major parts (spinal nervous system, brain stem, heart, etc) with fiber optics that can do the same job. as far as I know, there's no real way for the flood to infect basically a tube of light.
Another way is to protect it. The way I think we can do that is by introducing a artificial virus with DNA/RNA instructions for cells to make either protein wall or a carbon wall around all of the nervous system. I don't know if it'll really stop the infection fully, but it'll make it a hell of alot harder.
these are my theories, again, I tried to put it within reason for 500 years into the future
upvote so Xperia can see this :D
TheRed Hawk still won't stop the bodies from turning into biomass
true, but at least the bodies wont be used against you, plus, the infection form has to attach itself to the spinal cord to attack the nervous system before it really starts to decay the host. As far as I know, there really isn't a case of a infection form turning the host into a biomass before it attacks the nervous system.
TheRed Hawk yea but what I'd the flood uses our virus aginst us?
ODST C-1137, it would take time for that to happen. Allowing the DNA sequences to change, so they can try to adapt but will fail.
how would we get fiber optics to replace our brain. i can understand the heart and nervous system etc. but the brain could be destroyed in the process. would we even be the same if we were alive. i cant help but think amnesia would follow because your brain perceives memories as a series of electrical discharges between cells. the brain cant transfer how to interpret those impulses to a machine that perceives life in a different fashion. whereas our brain discards those useless or undervalued memories involuntarily, wouldn't fiber optics mandate a data bank that has limits and needs constant attention? (even halo follows along those lines with how AI are made) look at AI in halo, they need the bare minimum of a suit of MJOLNIR to live at least and they can go rampant and succumb to the flood (the logic plague).
PLEASE come back to this again sometime and tell us all about the Primordial! Who is it? Is he the Gravemind? Was he a Precursor at one point? Does that mean the Gravemind is like a memory of the memory of an original Precursor? We need answers to all this!

The Spartan II project's augmentations also provided not only avoidance by flood forms but also immunity, as in Halo The Flood book the Chief is struck by an infection form's proboscis, and as showed in the short series The Mona Lisa, we are shown that mere flesh to flood biomass contact can cause the infection to spread.
no , Spartans aren't immune to the flood, in I think the fall of reach or the flood book, during CE a infection form laches onto him and ripped open his skin through the armour and almost infected him , because he still has a nervous system and the only reason it was stopped was because cortana overloaded the chiefs shield that created and electric pulse that saved him
The only reason why Spartans are avoid for infection is because their armor and shield. Other than that they are vulnerable to infection as well. Either way they will be infected with enough time.
Pretty sure Chief survived this cuz Cortana flashed his energy shield, frying the flood form before it really got deeper.
I just want to point out he just asked is there a cure to death since in halo 2 the flood can take over dead bodies
If the flood were to invade during this time, Xperia would probably volunteer to become one of them...
Only just to back up his theory videos and get more information. He'd practically have the Gravemind to base his questions on. Yay! More Flood videos! But more informed!
Or you remove the nervous system and replace it with a fake one that is mechanical.
the epic pun mastrr that is completely impossible
Bakes 13 why? In halo plenty of people have artificial limbs etc. It'd be harder for an entire body but considering halo technology they could probably do it quite easily
Pumblechook 1 to replace the entire nervous system would mean to replace the entire body. You'd literally be putting the brain in a robot lol
Bakes 13 what's wrong with a brain in a robot body?

Video title: Can the flood be cured?
Me: Yeah, easy! Just fire the halos!
I’m not kidding, I have a cure:
The Flood’s reliance on neural physics is both their advantage and their downfall. The objective of the Precursors was to pass the Mantle of Responsibility to humans. Although humans don’t know how to use the Star Roads, the Flood do. Since the Flood were created from biological modifications of animals from feeding the ground up Precursors and it changed their genetics, feed it to the Flood so their genetics change. Allow a Gravemind to develop from these changed Flood forms, and have them inflict war on themselves. The new Flood species aid humanity in defeating their ancestors by giving the gift of knowledge of the Star Roads. Star Roads are the “Mantle of Responsibility” and gives humans control over the universe. We then find out about other universes and how “The Meddlers” indirectly involved themselves in events throughout the Halo universe as a small attempt to keep the Flood from spreading to their universe.
Calling it all now. You’re welcome 👍🏻
You forget that flood dont eat, they infect organisms. But lets say they ate something “different”, how does that make the flood an ally of humanity.
Also all the star roads in the milky way were destroyed with the firing of the halos, everything with a reliance on neural physics were
so in very fast and concise way; Sarin Gas an enclosed space when they breach?
All the Star Roads that were created within the Milky Way Galaxy were annihilated, along with all Precursor nigh-indestructible structures when the Halos were fired
Honestly I love these videos I never really think about these things

Actually, the Orion program makes the Spartans have a nervous system too complex for the flood, so they can’t be infected
or the fact that they have litteral AIRTIGHT titanium armour plates welded to their bone structure, energy shields, and are coupled with AI that can shock flood tendrils out?

The problem with the side-effect of the Orion project is that it only impedes Infection Form infections. Infections via Flood spore are not affected as that type of infection converts existing cells into Flood cells. As we all know, spore infection would be much more common that that of infection forms so really you need a way to prevent the conversion of genetic material into Flood genetic material.
However, for spores to work, it takes a very long time, Half-jaw wasn't awake during that flood class.

I mean, the host's neck is snapped during the transformation so even if the host is cured, they would just drop dead anyway.
Are spartans able to be infected because we never see it and master Chief sometimes nearly gets killed by the flood and he's the best so some unlucky spartan must have got killed by the flood. If the spartan did get infected what would happen to there fiscal body and how smart would the flood become after this change. If you could make a video on this that would be awesome thanks and sorry for spelling mistakes also sorry for getting you to do anther flood video 😁
Frog Productions his Armor is so strong that a Flood spore won't be able to get to his flesh or bones.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Not true. There are some large gaps in his armor that they can definitely penetrate. In fact in one of the books a flood infection form almost entered his armor through the back of his neck I believe.
But are the game mode infections actually canon because that is the only thing we have seen them in I think at least
If the game mode infections are canon then why don't they look different like mutated or different
Frog Productoins short said, the augmentations make spartans resistant to the flood but not immune standerd infection forms have a very hard time but if thrown into a gravemind? Yes
being significantly more difficult to infect would be very helpful. the flood can't bolster their ranks on the fly and infections forms can be taken out during the process, making saving squadmates a possibility that wasn't one before. if it took, say, a few days to infect instead of a few moments, the flood would be pretty fucked because they only make gains when they win.

Any spore infection that controls the brain
I mean ant
Things that don't have a nervous system can still be infected they just cant be controlled by an infection forms. Flood spores can convert anything made up of cell in to Flood super cells. This includes Plants, bugs, animals, and Yes Hunter, Drones, and Engineers. These can all be used as combat form but are usually just used as biomass for various flood structures or Pure Forms
Nein nein no cure
That rocket nearly took your head off at 3:37 XD
Why not give every one an energy shield?
Toilet Sounds need more 💰 and material n stuff
They can actually eat through it. I'm the second halo book, aka The Flood, a flood spore ate through the mjiolnir armor of the chief, already poking around in his back with the tentacles and only Cortana actually overloading the shield fried it and saved him.
Luca Johnen so it sip in between the armour slab or just bore through the armour slowly?
MR AD can't remember, but I am pretty sure it went rather quick.
But energy shields don't activate unless you have either a larger big force or high momentum. The mjiolnir armor already is an exception since it was created from reversed enginieered jackal shields which are constantly active, but even then the flood spore was able to jump onto the armor and simply ignore the shield as it didn't trigger it.
Basically the only reason why you loose shield against infection forms in the game is because the shield gets overloaded to grill the infection form
This is ofc to not waste shield energy constantly as every connection you make with anything (slamming into a wall, being touched etc would trigger the shield). When chief first got the Mark V he even stated that when he increased the sensibility of the shield activation he could feel that he was 'swimming' on the ground as the shield activated between his feet and the ground.
The flood has so much rich lore to enjoy

Dude I love your flood videos keep it up bro
Mess up all of humanity’s nervous system in a slightly different way, making it difficult for the flood to infect everyone because everyone’s nervous is messed up.
ONI in 500 years watching right now:👁👄👁
Extensive cybernetics replace the nerves with nano wires and an adapter chip to the brain stem if you invest the time and money on a platoon sized response force you would have a method of containment.
Mind you this would be very expensive but we are currently researching this for prosthetics (amputees) with the resources that the unsc/oni have it would be possible
Frankly, even if you could cure the flood, I don't think it would matter because the host body would probably be damaged beyond repair.
I think the way to stop the flood is to never let get there in the first place. Ways u could do this is by surrounding the planet, infected or not, with a quarantine shield like the one surrounding high charity on The Ark. Or do the same thing to potential organisms that will get infected. In a certain sense not allowing it to infect anything.
Best Idea is a 'crusade' led by Spartans against the flood.
I would like to see the UNSC starting an "anti-flood force" with soldiers who agreed to the procdeure and survived, or maybe have this on spartans?
I like how many facts you put on your videos.
I noticed a problem here, regarding Sergeant Johnson's immunity. It wasn't due to his status as an ORION subject. It was due to a psychological mutation caused by nearby detonation of a number of plasma grenades. It was cureable, but Johnson never took the full course, meaning his mental structure was screwed up. This is explained in one of the books (I forget which, but I think it was First Strike.) Nut I dunno. Maybe it's changed.
Wow ancient humanity really felt like our ancestors when they said fuck the galaxy out of spite 😂
That rocket dodge at 3:37 was S I C K
If a precursor was still alive and fully in tact and cared about his species old responsibilities he or she could probably find a cure
Or they could design armors to specificaly repel airborne spores and infection form, sort of like the mjolnir armor pops infection forms on contact, create a whole platoon of those special units and use them to repel an attack, which would not be infection proof but would make it a good challenge for only one to be infected, put them on the back lines and put on the frontlines remote controlled robots without AI, which would make them the perfect fodder canon as they would be replaceable and unable to be infected by either the logic plague or the infection in itself.
You know what would be cool? If there was a twist that prehistoric humans hid the last bits of the cure somewhere on earth maybe in speculation that the librarian would probably put humans on earth
Energy shields and air purifiers in the helmets. That's how they protect the player in the games. The infection forms just pop on contact and you can never be contaminated by spores. Eventually the shields fail and you can get infected. Just add a suicide vest controlled by a basic program that detonates once infected. A few people might die but you would never have anything beyond spores and infection forms and after some time those would eventually die out too.
actually, a neurotoxicant or nerve agent should be very effective on the flood
It's explained in several videos that the Flood were originally the Precursors ground into powder that were originally intending to reform themselves in the future but become corrupt over time. My question is *what* caused them to become corrupt?
Maybe the deterioration of their genetic material?
We could engineer our immune systems to be resistant to the spoors/injected cells. Maybe build collars that discharge energy at infected forms when they try to latch on. Would make it much more difficult for a low grade outbreak to spread with specialist units. The flood just get so OP with larger outbreaks.
