The Civil War shatters neighborhood calm and brings old tensions to a boiling point. Philadelphia will be the powerhouse of the North: brimming with industrial muscle, scores of war hospitals, and thousands of troops. Citizens rally around President Lincoln's call that "all should have an equal chance." But with the war over and the President dead, the fight for equality becomes a battle in the streets - with tragic results.

My GrandMother born,1899......told me many stories about Philadelphia....an our Family. Coming to Philadelphia. 1709.......when I was a Boy. Very Cool........stories an History ...here..........Thanx......A Philadelphian........
This series is amazing!! Not from Philly, but just north in Bethlehem. I'd love to see a short series about my area.
👍👍👍. Besides being raised in city upwardly mobile lower class to middle-class Suburbia; If it wasn’t for experiences learned Growing and WORKING in such a Various and Diverse environment of Racial/ Cultural/ Language & Societal Differences - I’d never would have truly appreciated Education, Nuggets Of Golden Values, Beliefs & Philosophies from many opened minded/ intelligent peoples. Appreciative your series points this fact of Working Unity must be supported & carried forward to the next Generations. Kudos again!
Love learning about my city especially about yellow fever that hit the city back then
The Stills are a huge family in Camden and Lawnside NJ I went to HS with two of the Stills and Art Still from Camden NJ played in the NFL too.
Wow! I am flabbergasted of our contribution. I will continue to research. Namaste
Shoutout to Mr. Milton✊🏽
Thank you and thumbs up.
Wow! African people in the USA have really gone through some Madness!!
Emotional Political Philly Times in those 1800s🙏👍🤗🌅 Thanks for the lesson!
Please let me know if you need extras for the next series..
What happened to the years 1872-1943? Not enough going on to warrant its own segment?
We're currently in production on our final three episodes to span that time period. We have not produced the series in chronological order.
Great, thanks for letting me know.

Where is the following episode(s)?
We're currently in production on that episode. It will be our next to air on 6abc.
Would’ve liked to hear more about all of the immigrants coming to the city in this time
Period.
Exactly and agreed. The immigrant story is totally glossed over within the historical vacum of "black and white". No story of the Anti-Irish and all the bigotry the German, Polish and Italian Catholics had to endure. But this is typical of those who "tell" and produce the story today.
@@tommoore8726 Probably because what they endured is relatively little compared to African Americans who couldn’t walk down the street without being terrorized by racist.
@@tommoore8726 Feel free to produce your own series on that. People will always complain about something.
@@caramia4143 The Catholic story is intertwined with the history of Philadelphia at this time. It is a glaring oversight to omit it.
EQUAL CHANCE? HAHAHAHAH

If that's the case why do you all still vote Democrat boggles my mind Philadelphia is still Democrat
Tim Gaynor It's a big city. Big cities always vote democrat.
@@notsure6187In my opinion, The politricks have really have sunken this country and city to a very dark place!
The parties have fliiped the last 160 year. Now republicans are the conservatives and democrats are the progressives, but back than it was vise versa.
Franklin Roosevelt and Theodore Roosevelt were the ones who changed the game like that.
