I love that she leaves us behind. She doesn't need us as an escape anymore and she's moved on and gotten better as person (for the most part). It also means there is no possible Season 3. It's the perfect ending.
Ughh I understand why she left it with two seasons. And I respect the hell out of ending the show with only 2 season's. Because she felt the characters reached their perfect end. Many shows get to the 4th, 5th, or 6th season that could be the perfect end. However then they drag on another 5, 6 seasons or more and the show becomes medicore. I respect Phobe so much for not doing that.
I love the way when priest makes his speech you can see Fleabag has figured it out. She knows in her gut she’s about to get her heart broken but still encourages Claire to go for it. She’s not scared of vulnerability anymore. That’s a huge moment. Really enjoyed your reactions to this fantastic series. The ending is so fucking sad but also bittersweet because we know Fleabag can be vulnerable with someone now and knows she’ll survive. She doesn’t need ‘us’ to shield her from that anymore. It doesn’t need to be a performance. It can be real. Gorgeous writing.
"It will pass" No line has ever hurt so much fr. As much as I wish to see how fleabag would've grown as a person bc of his love I also don't think the relationship is unfair to any of them. I really enjoyed and applaud the realism of the plot but the ending is just UGH.
The "It's God, isn't it?" bit is a reference to their interaction earlier when they broke apart after their pretty intense make out session and he said "I don't know what this feeling is" and she asked "is it God or is it me?" And I think throughout the day with his love sermon at the wedding, he realized both that he loved her and also that loving her made him feel like he was betraying God. In the end he had to pick one of them, and it was God for him.
I love that now that we know the art piece represents fkeabags mother, it takes on a whole new significance. It turns out her mother was there in spirit throughout but she didn't realise.
Phoebe is so smart, her writing is insane. Imagined if they actually got together in the end, it wouldn't feel the same, and would feel fake. This feels real, and absolutely crushed my heart
I always wondered if Fleabag just resembled her late mother so much, maybe that's why there was so much animosity with the godmother who treated her horribly. Also the dad clinging onto her arm walking down the aisle....I kind of wished he just said, "I can't go through with this."
That would make so much sense, the godmother had no reason to dislike fleabag so much but there was animosity from the start, if she was intimidated that animosity she had against fleabag would make perfect sense though
I do think she learned a lot though! You see her in a thriving business at the start of the second season (it implies that she became contempt with the guilt of hers and she actually taking care of the place that was so close to a person nahe wronged), she actually said no to a sex offer to a her fcng buddy from the first season, which shows that she tries not to look for a meaningless sex anymore as a way of building up a self-worth. That line from first a episode to her dad (why are you not being naughty /. Cause it doesn't matter) shows the acceptance of her flaws and herself, there is no way to run anymore, you just have to face it. And she did and it opened new doors to a new relationship and new love for her (after Boo and her Mom she didn't think she can love or be loved anymore), hence why it sings "I'm going to be alright anymore", she will survive, cause she's open to whatever comes her way now. So I do think she came along the way and learned a lot
Thanks for sharing your experience; I enjoyed it very much! On one hand you wish the show would continue, but on the other I felt satisfied it ended here, if that makes sense. The ending is bittersweet; it has the sad part of the ending of a relation, yet it also leaves us with a positive feeling knowing she's going to be allright, like the perfectly chosen song says. Warm regards from the Netherlands and till another reaction!🙏🖖
Its hilarious that this is the first time we suddenly realise we never knew the dads name. He's just dad or darling! He's stepped on just like fkeabag.
I always liked the idea that the priest's fox is what we were to fleabag - a camera. Now that his life is in shambles, a new story begins about a person with imaginary friends who follow them.
Arguably one of the very best comedies ever written and made for television! Down to how real the dialogue feels and how organic the characters operate. Olivia Coleman as the massive passive-aggressive evil stepmom is PERFECTION. Phoebe Waller-Bridge gives a towering performance and well earning her numerous accolades for her performance as well as writing and producing. I believe she says she’d revisit Fleabag, but when she’s older. Don’t know if that might change 🤷♂️. In the meantime, I guess we’ll just have to wait and hope for more, but more than grateful for what Waller-Bridge hath blessed us with. AMEN 🙏
Yeah she said she wasn’t sure she ever even intended to do a season 2, but the idea came to her and she did. In real time, season 1 and 2 were years apart. She said if she ever had an idea she wanted to do again, she would.
As far as suggestions of what to watch next, two other British shows that are great and also sometimes painful but in really beautiful ways (and also pretty short compared to US series) - Catastrophe (with Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan) and This Way Up (with Aisling Bea). Both highly recommended!
I gotta be honest, it was so hard watching you get so excited leading up to this episode, knowing that the ending of this series just rips your heart out and stomps on it. The hot priest's wedding speech is one of my favorite scenes of TV ever. If you've ever truly loved someone so deeply who you couldn't be with for one reason or another, the emotion that he shows when he talks about how difficult love is just hits so hard.
Fleabag started as a one woman show, and in the wake of the success of season 2 and Killing Eve season 1 she revived it for brief runs in London and New York. The London revival was filmed and released as part of the "National Theatre Live" series. The solo performance is an interesting contrast to the series because she's such a generous writer and performer. Looks like you'll need a VPN to see it (also found it on a site that's probably not legal if that sort of thing doesn't bother you.) I also highly recommend a series she did called Crashing, which is on Netflix. It's more of an ensemble piece than Fleabag and a bit lighter, but the cast is uniformly excellent and Phoebe is such a great writer. Only six episodes, so not too much commitment.
I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching this series with you. Great reactions!! Did you happen to notice the song playing during the final scene? This is how I found Alabama Shakes; a bonus takeaway from the show.
I'm still praying that she does a season three YEARS down the line. Like 5 years from now minimum where she can be all "remember how I thought I didn't need you anymore, well here's what's happened since then and why I need you back". A solid 8-10 year timeline skip wouldn't work for any other show except for this one.
I love that she leaves us behind. She doesn't need us as an escape anymore and she's moved on and gotten better as person (for the most part). It also means there is no possible Season 3. It's the perfect ending.

Even if I would kill for a season 3.
She stole the statue back again because she now knows that it’s her mom. I don’t think she gives it back again.
I love the way when priest makes his speech you can see Fleabag has figured it out. She knows in her gut she’s about to get her heart broken but still encourages Claire to go for it. She’s not scared of vulnerability anymore. That’s a huge moment.

"It'll pass" has to be the most tender, heartbreaking line ever.
The "It's God, isn't it?" bit is a reference to their interaction earlier when they broke apart after their pretty intense make out session and he said "I don't know what this feeling is" and she asked "is it God or is it me?" Who didn't choke up when she bid us all a fond farewell with that wave at the very end.
Phoebe is so smart, her writing is insane. Imagined if they actually got together in the end, it wouldn't feel the same, and would feel fake. This feels real, and absolutely crushed my heart
I was devastated by this ending
I always wondered if Fleabag just resembled her late mother so much, maybe that's why there was so much animosity with the godmother who treated her horribly. Also the dad clinging onto her arm walking down the aisle....I kind of wished he just said, "I can't go through with this."
I never thought of it like that. I think you've hit the nail on the head.
That would make so much sense, the godmother had no reason to dislike fleabag so much but there was animosity from the start, if she was intimidated that animosity she had against fleabag would make perfect sense though

Phoebe also wrote and starred in a show before Fleabag called Crashing (only 6 episodes). It's fun!

I like to think that she now is open to love and be loved again.

I told you this season was incredible! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.
"Killing Eve" partly written by PWB too and multi award winning is a usual go to for Fleabag watchers and reactors
Thank you for reacting to fleabag
I would have watched 500 more episodes of Fleabag and the Hot Priest, but it also kills me to rewatch it because it's so good but it hurts!!!
Addictive. Wonderful. So many great moments - 'Please leave me' 'Where's Claire' 'He went that way'
Such a beautiful ending, thanks for the fantastic reaction you were a wonderful accompaniment to the show.
Was lovely going on this journey with you!
thx
I’m happy to have shared this journey through this TV show with you! What a finale and way to wrap up the characters stories. Closure

Catastrophe is wonderful.
also my mad fat diary

When she nodded her head and said goodbye
😌(😟)
I cried throught the first season and this season crushed me. This ending.... Uff I'm so happy for her but the moment she leaves us was hard
I loved your reactions! I'm glad you liked it as much as you did!
fleabag is perfect ..... bittersweet .... you have been the perfect navigator
I thoroughly enjoyed rewatching this series with you. Great reactions!! Did you happen to notice the song playing during the final scene? This is how I found Alabama Shakes; a bonus takeaway from the show.
Omg i love your top so much
I caught the tail end of these reactions but loved every minute of it. A similar show you may like is called High Fidelity with Zoe Kravitz.
that top is on fleek
Love the 2 series its such an emotional roller coaster. You should check out The Fall. Its a trilling/psychological cat and mouse series.
That's a great one!! I LOVE Stella's character
👍 For the next video: “Deuce Bigalow” (2005)
start watching Peep Show, it's very similar to this but just crazier and a lot longer with a lot more characters.
I'm still praying that she does a season three YEARS down the line. You should watch “this way up”
Loved that one, great suggestion!
if you liked this, the show Catastrophe might be up your alley.
Nice reaction
I’m sorry but I have to say that you are absolutely stunning. Had to get that off my chest! Lmao! 😂
If you loved Fleabag then you should definitely watch Killing Eve
Yes, but prepared for the worst conclusion in the final episode of a show, in the history of television anywhere...in my opinion.
It'll pass 😭
Have you seen the new movie called Barbarian?
