The "3 weeks later...." is such a good touch. It puts you a cut above the other UA-cam aquascape content creators. I still love MD but it's so appreciated.
Great stuff as always, MJ. I am so jealous of the quality of European fish shops, it is so hard to find anything like it here in the States. Those gouramis are beautiful, and a great choice for this aquarium. Take care.
This is so true. I've had really good luck with the online stores recommended by Aquarium Co-op. When I purchase honey gourami locally, they seem to "time out" for lack of a better term. So far, I've not had this problem with online purchases
@@mrfish.- Hi Mr. Fish, yes fishtube is my relax time. And I like to support these awesome creators in the little way that I can by leaving comments on the videos. Thanks for saying hello, Happy New Year!
I appreciated the insert with plant info in the video - great idea. I just stop the video and note the info if interested in the plant then carry on watching. Love this set up.
I laughed way too hard at the fish that wedged himself between the glass and plants. "You alright buddy" 😂He's just camera shy, and was trying to "look natural".
Literally just planted rotala orange juice today! Came across it at my LFS and hadn’t seen it anywhere else - until your video. So nice to see it in your tank. Yours are much taller and more colorful, which give me a good idea of what mine might look like. Thank yoy, MJ! Amazing scape as usual.
Awesome as usual! Really enjoyed the whole process of the rescape. I always learn something in every one of your videos and they’re so well done. Those gouramis look very happy with their new home!!
It might be 3 or more decades ago but I remember the original honey gourami before all these new color morphs came around, and I thought they were quite striking little fish. I don't think it's possible to get the original color variety anymore, which is a shame
I have a pair I absolutely love in my shallow tank, I’ve been so pleasantly surprised at how fun they are to interact with. How would you describe the coloration on the gourami’s 30 years ago?
@Matt Ferguson much more subtle. Dorsal was still yellow - but not as vivid as now. Throat on the male was still blue (a vivid blue when in breeding dress) body colouration was more muted - more brownish, but with a real honey tone to it. Hence the name. It just looked more 'natural'. The colour morphs are very pretty: if you want a showy fish that stands out from a distance despite its small size - this fish is a winner, for sure. I don't think it's possible to post pictures in here, but Google searches for 'original honey gourami colouration' will eventually pull pics up (amongst the dozens of pics of the new morphs.)
Stunning home for the new additions, you did a cracking job! Theyre beautiful too, it's such a lovely feeling getting new fish and watching them explore their new habitat
Ooh, colisa chuna... I love these fish so much. I did some aquascaping like 20 years ago and one of your videos popped up in my recommendations. Great to see that the work of Amano has greatly influenced the scene :D Your channel inspires me to make a tank with my kids next year. Take care.
its one of the better looking tank you have now, really like the calm front low ground, more swim space is always nicer, still think its overstocked though
I aways enjoy you video's. Your reshape is just wonderful. I just got a red honey & pearl gourami a month ago! They are such a great addition. Happy New Year!
Time to break out the 5 gallon mayonnaise tub. Love the scape MJ im going to try and emulate something similar. The dense java Fern is just so beautiful.
Great job MJ! Your tanks always look amazing! Thanks for sharing your techniques. I cannot learn enough and appreciate the information. I love the pop in color from the different types of fish in this scape. Looks fantastic! 😍
nice! i was actually planning to have honey gouramis on my tank as i'm currently suffering from hair/string algae and some green hydras and i've heard they like to feed on those.. really awesome scape as always! :)
Nice little rescape! I call it wet-rescape where you keep everything running and plants are reused as well. The new aquasoil and the ammonia cycle always gives me headaches. Dose the water a bit more if you need, but otherwise plants should be okay with old soil...
That's really nice. I like the gravels and the stones. Thank you. I got three Gourami Chuna (one male and two females) in my 60 liters. They're very nice fishes.

Very nice I noticed you took out the red root floaters. Why did you decide to take them out I’m thinking about getting some and I’m wondering what was the reason for removing them.
Awesome looking tank. I'm going to add a pair of Honey Gourami's to my new tank. A question though is what did you use at the end of the hose when draining the water? Was it filter floss? I need to fully drain my tank without disturbing the substrate,

Nice rescape..few questions 1. How long can I keep the fishes in a tub with previous water until I rescape 2. Do u suggest to save the water from old tank and reuse it, say 50 percent or so Whenever I rescape I face these issues and end up losing some fishes
1. If you keep a filter running on the tub with fish, you can keep them in there for a few weeks without any issues. 2. Nah the water itself contains very little beneficial bacteria, so there's not really a point in keeping the water.
Dat zwarte ding is een intake van een oud JBL filter, daarna heb ik een lange tuinslag, en dan een opvoerpomp. De pomp zet ik in de gootsteen en zo vul ik de bak met water.
No new aquasoil in here. Adding new soil could be dangerous if it releases a lot of ammonia, so in that case it would be better to add the fish a week or so later.
Yes could be dangerous but once I rescaped my tank using lots of new Amazonia I (the first edition) on top of a small layer of used Amazonia and no single critters or fishes lost. The ammonia spike must have been low or non existent due to the well cycled filter, the old soil and dense planting. I have stopped testing water params many years ago because test kits for the hobbyist delivered unreliable results back then. Might be different nowadays. I tried the whole thing out of curiosity and probably had luck on my side.
@@MJAquascaping Thank you! So if i wanted to add new soil, should i soak the soil in a separate container or perhaps cycle it with bacteria in another container
Amazing job like always! I'm curious when you break down a scape to replant again do you find you typicaly discard the carpeting plants from the old scape? Thanks for the great tutorial!
Nicely done. What is the filter there? So many fish in 70 liters and no issues - you have some serious skills... I hope I will get there someday :) Cheers
Great video once again M.J, congratulations. What is the secret for the intense orange color of your tetra embers? I am not able to obtain that orange color to my embers.
Really enjoyed watching this while I worked on my Honey Gourami tank! In my experience, I've only been able to get the solid yellow honey gourami to live peacefully together. The ones that have a bit of red were just too aggressive. I'll be interested to watch your experience!
