So an odd story, I think. As I was stocking my fist tank (I was so naive back then) we got 2 dwarf gourami from our non-big box lfs. For the most part they stayed in opposite sides of the 29g, but one of them got sick and eventually started to lay over. The other fish would swim over and try to push it back upright. It melted my cold black heart.
I’m new to fish keeping and in my first tank a 20 gallon I was drawn to the dwarf gourami as my center piece fish. I only have one and he’s only been with smaller tetras, rasboras. I have not seen any signs of aggression. Very happy with him.
I have two male dwarf gouramis and one female pearl gourami sharing a heavily planted 29 gallon with 10 neon tetras and 2 female dwarf rainbow fish. They've all been living together for about two years now. It is the most peaceful tank you can imagine. They never fight or chase each other. I wanted to get a honey gourami, but I couldn't find any so I got the pearl instead. I'm really glad I did. It's the biggest fish in the tank now at just over 3 inches, but also the sweetest. She was the last fish I added to the tank and was a tiny little thing when I got her. I would definitely recommend checking out pearl gouramis.
Wanted to mention the virus that haunts dwarf gourami’s. No such issue with the honey gourami. Lost 3 dwarfs due to, what I think is, the virus. The last one has now some symptoms as well after 6 months so keeping my fingers crossed.
Honey Gouramis all day! I have one red and one yellow in a heavily planted aquarium with Ember tetras. Before I put the Gouramis in the tank, the Embers were kind of shy and hid a lot...The Gouramis were a perfect dither fish. That and Honey Gouramis are just so cute and a are very personable. That’s funny you say that about embers. My betta fish and ember tetras were the best of friends. I had about 8 embers and one betta. In a heavily planted 14 gallon. It was plenty of space since the embers don’t even get above 1 inch. Anyways, after my betta had passed away my embers have been hiding ever since. It’s funny how a much bigger fish almost makes the embers feel safe and protected.
I had a Betta in a 6 gallon. Thought he might like companions. Set up a 20 tall. put in cory cats and two small Honey Gourami. Then added the Betta. At first things were ok. Betta surfed and swam and picked out his favorite resting and hiding spots. But eventually as the Honeys moved freely around the tank, the Betta stopped exploring and surfing. He just hides all the time. So I'm moving him back to the small tank with some Amano shrimp.
The honey gouramis are just so pretty. They really stand out in a tank, and their peaceful nature makes them perfect as a show piece fish in a small community aquarium. Have a great week, guys. 👍❤👍

Good and simple but informative video. I actually thought the Honey Gourami was more of a color morph of the Dwarf Gourami. Good to learn the other differences too
I've got a male dwarf gourami with 2 betas(m&f) in a planted 25 gallon tank. They for the most part get along. Gourami tends to screw with 1/3 of the fish, including the betas, but they get along for the most part.
I've owned two male Dwarf Gouramis at different times, and I never noticed any aggression from either. I kept both with Zebra Danios, which are obviously much faster and more active than any Gourami.
The answer is sparkling gourami ;) I have 5 in a 20 gallon tall moderately planted, but we'll established plants (I have an anubia that is all the way to the top of the water. So they have lots of hiding spots and sight breaks.
Thanks for the video. You mention some important differences that would influence any future decision. Years ago, I had a dwarf, and found it to be rather pushy, so thought the honeys must be as well. Nice to know I can have the beauty, without the beast!
I have two honey gourami and one powder blue dwarf gourami in different tanks. The honey gourami is one of my favorite fish. They look so peaceful and curious, almost like they are smiling as they go about the tank. Gold honey gourami with a school of neon tetras is great contrast. Powder blue alongside a school of von rio tetras is another good contrast. Never have any aggression issues, well fed, very colorful.
I'm a begginer. And I started with the dwarf gouramis. I lost one from the iridovirus two weeks after i bought him. Some time after i had a diesese that killed my neon tetras. Gouramis survived, but were weakend, and then bad genetics finished them. Currently i have 4. And i know that i probably should change them for other spiecies, but in Poland they are the only small gourami availble in normal shops. And they are just to cute. Personal, inteligent and so pretty.

Tried Honey gourami and a female Betta from a community tank once and it went just as you said. Betta chased it first but when the HG realised that, that fish is all fluff and big talks but not much bite...the table turned in about 10-15 mins. Took the betta back to its tank and that was the end of the story.
we had a dwarf flame gourami who we lost to dgir which is apparently super common, we loved having him in our tank even for the few weeks, no problems w our neon tetras and a great personality.
Happy Monday!! Both these wonderful fish have they’re merits. If I had to choose between the 2 I’d go dwarf gourami lots more variety in color, and I kinda like a fish with a little zest.
I got what I thought was a Honey Gourami for my son’s 20g and then learned from your species video that more than one could be together, so I got my fish a fish. Well, turns out they’re actually two female Thick-lipped Sunset Gouramis. One didn’t play nice so I moved the other to my 29g with the Embers, Green Neons, and Pygmy Corys. Left the more dominant one with my son’s Pristellas who are equally as pushy. It all worked out, thankfully!
My centerpiece fish is a female powder blue dwarf gourami whom I have named The Great and Powerful Trixie. She is currently sharing a lightly planted 10 gallon tower tank with Turbo the Wonder Snail and a few Turbo Jrs that have survived Trixie's introduction. She picks off snail hatchlings when she can and has also gone after detritus worms if they get into the water column. She likes pellet food, but hid in the crypto leaves the first time I dropped in flakes. She's a very silly fish! I think if I get a small school of ember tetras or chili rasboras it'll look great and if there are enough of them Trixie won't be able to bully/chase them all. I don't even know if she will. At the local fish store where I bought Trixie, there were also harlequen rasboras in the same tank as the powder blue femalle dwarf gouramis. I didn't see any agressiveness towards either the other gouramis or the rasboras at the time. A school of 5-6 of those is also an option.
I have a short fin male betta with a neon blue dwarf Gourami in a 20 high and they get along great. Haven’t bothered each other once. Had the betta before the gourami and after all the community fish. They don’t even fight for territory in any way. Lucky personalities I guess.
I have a female flame dwarf gourami with some corydoras in a 20 gallon tank. She's chill and doesn't bother the corydoras except some minor feeding time squabbles. In fact, it's the corydoras who sometimes bump into the gourami when they're playing around.
I love my gouramis I have dwalf ones the powder blue & 2 of the flag fish couler ones which I actually mistook for American flagfish when I first brought them. Theirs a considerable size difference in the powder blue & the red grey ones, the blue is much bigger, he s boss! But no bulling issues , we'll at first I think but now things have evened out ,their in a community tank with plenty of smaller fish & even fry which they ve been good with so far so good!!
Frank the powder blue dwarf gourami is tank boss! He also chewed up all 4 of my marimo moss balls to make a nest! He doesn't bother the tetras, but goes after the 2 remaining platys all the time (rest were rehomed). I still love him dearly!
I have one Honey Gourami in a tank with a female betta and they do well together. I tried twice to keep a blue dwarf gourami in a separate tank where both eventually became ill from the disease that I hear can affect them which was unfortunate since they are really pretty, and personable fish.
Over a period of 3 or 4 years I have had 4 Dwarf Gouramis. All were single "centerpiece" fish in a 29 gallon tank with other small peaceful fish. None of them were aggressive. All did fine for a few months, but none lived past about 6 months. That is the worst success I have had with any fish in my 3 aquariums. I love the color of Dwarf Gouramis, but guess I will have to try the Honey.
i had a powdered blue dwarf gourami in my tank and took him out because he was getting aggressive with my angel. Now got a pearl gourami instead and i dont regret it.
Hey guys, great channel! I just bought my first Honey Gourami for my 50-gal planted tank that contains small tetras and rasboras and some corydoras. My local fish store got some in the other day and told me they were the gold honeys but they all looked pale champagne, silver color with the horizontal stripe. They told me it is hard to sex them at that young age and the males do not start showing the yellow color until adulthood but they would do their best to get me a male. I’m not sure how old they are but I would say they were all about 1.5 inches. I let them pick me out one and he/she has been in my tank for a couple days now doing well. My question is how do I know I really have a male at this point and is it possible it’s just a wild type honey? If it is a gold honey, how long before males start showing any of that yellow color? Thanks!
Thge males are usually showing the gold color at about 1". The only way I can tell male-female is by size and color if they are right next to one another.

I just wanted to add to the Dwarf Gourami/Betta pairing. I have one Dwarf and one American Flag Betta. The Gourami was first...was in the tank for about 4 months before getting the Betta. Everybody has been peaceful. They may be the exception to the rule and I may see them fighting as soon as I send this comment!! Or maybe I should just knock on wood. So far, so good.
Wish I saw this last week. I added 6 dwarf gourami to my 60 breeder last weekend because it's on so many "peaceful fish" lists. I only have 2 left in the tank, and will probably have to go down to 1 as soon as I find someone to take the others I separated out.
I have a pack of honeys and 2 one-spotted large males gouramis. Both species had no problem with my 2 bettas, male and female, at different times (jepp, both bettas are gone while all gouramis are alive and kicking). Bettas are disappointment out of health consideration, so no more bettas for me. However, my betta male lost his mind when I got a couple of paradise gouramis/fish. This combination didn't work. I had to put him in a different tank with only honeys.
i love my small group of honeys in my 130 litre i haven't had any issues with squabbles at all and they get on with everything else i have in my tank they generally stick to themselves and sometimes group up later in the day
I have a male Betta with a male sparkling gourami in a community tank and a female koi galaxy betta with a male and female sparkling gourami and ive had no issues. my male is by far the most chill betta ive ever seen tho
Would a Honey Gourami be peaceful towards shrimp? Currently have a 10G shrimp and snail tank with plenty of plants and driftwood and looking for a centerpiece fish 🐠 . I want the shrimp colony to grow and have already had a couple of babies. I tried a baby betta girl but after a few weeks she started to get aggressive towards the shrimp and bully them for the food. I might also try to raise some baby guppies in that take from my other tank. Would the honey gourami still work out for me? Thanks for all the great videos.
Personally haven't ever had a honey gourami but I've had a few Dwarf gourami. My latest is a Flame Dwarf Gourami, hes a pure sweetheart and gets along great with my F betta and my German Blue Ram. Even temporarily had them together in a 20Gal with the tetras i keep with them while I replaced my larger tank and didn't have any issues with aggression or nipping. I have found the 3 spot gouramis like the Opalines and the Golds to be more aggressive than the standard Dwarfs like the powdered blues, striped and the flame gourami however it is sometimes just the individual fish' temperament. I would suggest if you want a Gourami of any kind you get them first with just some dither fish like a tetra of sorts then go from there and see how he/she is with the tank mates. If after a few weeks you haven't seen any bullying from the gourami or relentless chasing you can look into more tank mates like cories etc. Overall a great fish that is widely available and affordable for how hardy and colourful they are!
We had a dwarf gourami in a 10 gallon and he would often chase the other fish around but when we upgraded him to a 20 gallon he calmed right down and now he doesn’t bother anyone
When buying my honey gourami, the lfs recommended a pair. Each gender is beautiful in its own way but the male is always out and female is always hiding. The male chases the female away when she tries to eat. I think I’ve even seen him pick on my mystery snail. But the pair does do some sort of “mating dance” sometimes and his belly turns black often. I can see why you would want a lot more females to one male. Hope he’s nice when I get Cory catfish.
I had a dwarf Flame gourami. He was evil. Nothing could live with it. He harassed (to death) every type of fish I tried. However, a small bristlenose catfish survived and outlived the Gourami. Turned out the catfish was female which was good for me as I have a couple of large (5 inch) males. Shame about the Flame gourami, extremely beautiful to look at.
I have 3 red Robin gouramis with my male betta never had any problems but my tank is heavy planted and I have frogbit floating plants with very long roots and my tank is 200litre
I've kept a 3inch mature female molly with a Lily gourami in a 1.5 by 1 by 1 ft tank and it didn't work well..I had to separate that dwarf gourami..I've seen aggression mainly at their feeding time.
I had a male Honey in my 10 gallon micro planted tank, with about 50 adult Cherry Shrimp and much more juveniles along with some Neon Tetras and a couple of White Clouds. Absolutely no issues, even in regards to the baby shrimp and other fish. That being said, the Honey Gourami eventually died of old age and then my nitrates became too low which has started to negatively effect the plants. I need to add another soon to get that tank back to equilibrium, because even with all those shrimp and small fish, the livestock doesn't produce enough nitrates.
@@theangleraquarist The Neons and White Clouds were refuges of a neighbors tank, he was honesty going to flush them and I said I will put them in my little tank, it was Shrimp only at the time, it's the only place I could have kept them. They swim with the Neons and are currently 3 years with me so far, active, eating well, etc. I keep my eye open for anyone nearby that has a larger tank who could take them. But it's a bare bottom jungle tank with excellent water conditions and undetectable nitrate levels. Are they living an optimal life in a species tank? No, but better than down the toilet or garbage tank systems by typical box store aquariums.

I think dwarf gourami have some genetic issues, I’ve had 5 die for different reasons, yesterday was eating, next day just randomly dies, it’s a well established tank with a lot of other fish, just very weird. honey gouramis on the other hand are very hardy and easy to look after.

HONEYS. Dwarfs shouldn’t be sold let alone bred at this point. People think they die for no reason at all and just get more. Hones don’t have that problem and are peaceful
I have a overstock guppy tank with 5 Cory’s and 1 pleco . 40 gallons Ammonia at 0ppm Nitrite at 0pm and nitrate at 40-80 ppm . I do have hornwort and anacharis in the tank , last did a water change yesterday at 50% . Any advice on the nitrate spike ?
Nitrate generally doesn’t spike but build up over time. More frequent water changes should help. Also, just make sure your tap water doesn’t have nitrates in it.
I know you said a beta with a honey gourami would be tricky, but what if it’s a female plakat beta??? I’m planning to go get some Honey’s today, but my daughter has a female plakat in the community tank with female guppies, female platties, a female molly and a pair of cories at the bottom, but she is separated from the others with a tank divider and we would like to introduce her to the rest of the tank to add more space overall for all the fish.
I had a dwarf male Flame Gourami that would only bully new tank mates. Lost him to iridovirus. Now I have a female Powder Blue Gourami living in my community tank with two Pearl Gouramies, a Opaline Gourami and a male Betta fish. I can't find any Honey Gouramies around me.

One of my first fish when I got back into the hobby was a dwarf gourami. He was so sweet, even got along with the guppies!

I just gotta comment, I got 2 Honey's and a dwarf and they get along peacefully in a planted tank with guppies and SAE. nice video

Thick lips can be a little more aggressive. I actually had them together in a 20L without any issues somehow.
My dwarf is amazing I always saw people saying there aggressive so I was scared but it’s honestly the most chill gouromi I’ve ever had ❤️

I think if I get a small school of ember tetras or chili rasboras it'll look great and if there are enough of them Trixie won't be able to bully/chase them all. I don't even know if she will. At the local fish store where I bought Trixie, there were also harlequen rasboras in the same tank as the powder blue femalle dwarf gouramis. I didn't see any agressiveness towards either the other gouramis or the rasboras at the time. A school of 5-6 of those is also an option.
I'd have to say my favorite is the dwarf gourami the colors are better and I like the solitary fish as the centerpiece.
I have 4 beautiful pearls now. After losing my striking flame dwarf to iridovirus a year ago I got some pearls and they have my heart they're so great
I have a short fin male betta with a neon blue dwarf Gourami in a 20 high and they get along great. Haven’t bothered each other once. Had the betta before the gourami and after all the community fish. They don’t even fight for territory in any way. Lucky personalities I guess.
I have a female flame dwarf gourami with some corydoras in a 20 gallon tank. She's chill and doesn't bother the corydoras except some minor feeding time squabbles. In fact, it's the corydoras who sometimes bump into the gourami when they're playing around.
I love my gouramis I have dwalf ones the powder blue & 2 of the flag fish couler ones which I actually mistook for American flagfish when I first brought them. Theirs a considerable size difference in the powder blue & the red grey ones, the blue is much bigger, he s boss! But no bulling issues , we'll at first I think but now things have evened out ,their in a community tank with plenty of smaller fish & even fry which they ve been good with so far so good!!
Frank the powder blue dwarf gourami is tank boss! He also chewed up all 4 of my marimo moss balls to make a nest! He doesn't bother the tetras, but goes after the 2 remaining platys all the time (rest were rehomed). I still love him dearly!
I’ve got a pearl gourami with a betta together and they get along fine. The gourami will be pushy during feedings but they both get their share
I find the pearls to be less aggressive than the dwarfs
I have one Honey Gourami in a tank with a female betta and they do well together. I tried twice to keep a blue dwarf gourami in a separate tank where both eventually became ill from the disease that I hear can affect them which was unfortunate since they are really pretty, and personable fish.
Over a period of 3 or 4 years I have had 4 Dwarf Gouramis. All were single "centerpiece" fish in a 29 gallon tank with other small peaceful fish. None of them were aggressive. All did fine for a few months, but none lived past about 6 months. That is the worst success I have had with any fish in my 3 aquariums. I love the color of Dwarf Gouramis, but guess I will have to try the Honey.

i had a powdered blue dwarf gourami in my tank and took him out because he was getting aggressive with my angel. Now got a pearl gourami instead and i dont regret it.

Hey guys, great channel! I just bought my first Honey Gourami for my 50-gal planted tank that contains small tetras and rasboras and some corydoras. My local fish store got some in the other day and told me they were the gold honeys but they all looked pale champagne, silver color with the horizontal stripe. They told me it is hard to sex them at that young age and the males do not start showing the yellow color until adulthood but they would do their best to get me a male. I’m not sure how old they are but I would say they were all about 1.5 inches. I let them pick me out one and he/she has been in my tank for a couple days now doing well. My question is how do I know I really have a male at this point and is it possible it’s just a wild type honey? If it is a gold honey, how long before males start showing any of that yellow color? Thanks!
Thge males are usually showing the gold color at about 1". The only way I can tell male-female is by size and color if they are right next to one another.

I just wanted to add to the Dwarf Gourami/Betta pairing. I have one Dwarf and one American Flag Betta. The Gourami was first...was in the tank for about 4 months before getting the Betta. Everybody has been peaceful. They may be the exception to the rule and I may see them fighting as soon as I send this comment!! Or maybe I should just knock on wood. So far, so good.
I have had honey Gourami/Betta pairing for a while now with no issues. I just added a dwarf as well, so far so good.
Wish I saw this last week. I added 6 dwarf gourami to my 60 breeder last weekend because it's on so many "peaceful fish" lists. I only have 2 left in the tank, and will probably have to go down to 1 as soon as I find someone to take the others I separated out.

I have a pack of honeys and 2 one-spotted large males gouramis. Both species had no problem with my 2 bettas, male and female, at different times (jepp, both bettas are gone while all gouramis are alive and kicking). Bettas are disappointment out of health consideration, so no more bettas for me.
However, my betta male lost his mind when I got a couple of paradise gouramis/fish. This combination didn't work. I had to put him in a different tank with only honeys.
i love my small group of honeys in my 130 litre i haven't had any issues with squabbles at all and they get on with everything else i have in my tank they generally stick to themselves and sometimes group up later in the day
I have a male Betta with a male sparkling gourami in a community tank and a female koi galaxy betta with a male and female sparkling gourami and ive had no issues. my male is by far the most chill betta ive ever seen tho

Would a Honey Gourami be peaceful towards shrimp? Currently have a 10G shrimp and snail tank with plenty of plants and driftwood and looking for a centerpiece fish 🐠 . I want the shrimp colony to grow and have already had a couple of babies. I tried a baby betta girl but after a few weeks she started to get aggressive towards the shrimp and bully them for the food. I might also try to raise some baby guppies in that take from my other tank. Would the honey gourami still work out for me? Thanks for all the great videos.
Tough to say. Some leave the adults alone while other try to pick at them.
Personally haven't ever had a honey gourami but I've had a few Dwarf gourami. My latest is a Flame Dwarf Gourami, hes a pure sweetheart and gets along great with my F betta and my German Blue Ram. Even temporarily had them together in a 20Gal with the tetras i keep with them while I replaced my larger tank and didn't have any issues with aggression or nipping. I have found the 3 spot gouramis like the Opalines and the Golds to be more aggressive than the standard Dwarfs like the powdered blues, striped and the flame gourami however it is sometimes just the individual fish' temperament. I would suggest if you want a Gourami of any kind you get them first with just some dither fish like a tetra of sorts then go from there and see how he/she is with the tank mates. If after a few weeks you haven't seen any bullying from the gourami or relentless chasing you can look into more tank mates like cories etc. Overall a great fish that is widely available and affordable for how hardy and colourful they are!

I've kept dwarf gouramis with Betta without an issue.
We had a dwarf gourami in a 10 gallon and he would often chase the other fish around but when we upgraded him to a 20 gallon he calmed right down and now he doesn’t bother anyone
I just added a neon blue dwarf gourami with my harlequin rasboras and the get along so well! It’s amazing and the colors contrast so well!
When buying my honey gourami, the lfs recommended a pair. Each gender is beautiful in its own way but the male is always out and female is always hiding. The male chases the female away when she tries to eat. I think I’ve even seen him pick on my mystery snail. But the pair does do some sort of “mating dance” sometimes and his belly turns black often. I can see why you would want a lot more females to one male. Hope he’s nice when I get Cory catfish.

I had a dwarf Flame gourami. He was evil. Nothing could live with it. He harassed (to death) every type of fish I tried. However, a small bristlenose catfish survived and outlived the Gourami. Turned out the catfish was female which was good for me as I have a couple of large (5 inch) males. Shame about the Flame gourami, extremely beautiful to look at.

Are 2 male Dwarfs' okay in a 55 gallon? I'm thinking a Flame and a blue, or would a single Opaline be better?

My honey gouramis (I keep 4-5 of them in a 55 gallon) run from my betta every time there's a confrontation. The dwarf fights back, of course.
I've kept a 3inch mature female molly with a Lily gourami in a 1.5 by 1 by 1 ft tank and it didn't work well..I had to separate that dwarf gourami..I've seen aggression mainly at their feeding time.
I had a male Honey in my 10 gallon micro planted tank, with about 50 adult Cherry Shrimp and much more juveniles along with some Neon Tetras and a couple of White Clouds. Absolutely no issues, even in regards to the baby shrimp and other fish. That being said, the Honey Gourami eventually died of old age and then my nitrates became too low which has started to negatively effect the plants. I need to add another soon to get that tank back to equilibrium, because even with all those shrimp and small fish, the livestock doesn't produce enough nitrates.
A couple of white clouds? Remember if you can’t keep at least 6 you are inhibiting their quality of life. Same with the neons
@@theangleraquarist The Neons and White Clouds were refuges of a neighbors tank, he was honesty going to flush them and I said I will put them in my little tank, it was Shrimp only at the time, it's the only place I could have kept them. They swim with the Neons and are currently 3 years with me so far, active, eating well, etc. I keep my eye open for anyone nearby that has a larger tank who could take them. But it's a bare bottom jungle tank with excellent water conditions and undetectable nitrate levels. Are they living an optimal life in a species tank? No, but better than down the toilet or garbage tank systems by typical box store aquariums.
I have dwarf and honey and a beta all in the same tank and they get along fine. They kind of stick to themselves, but they live together peacefully.

My dwarfs and larger gouramis stay pretty assertive their entire life.
Can you have different types of gouramis together as a feature Fish type in a tank with some tank mates?

The dwarfs can be a little hard on the smaller gouramis.

I think dwarf gourami have some genetic issues, I’ve had 5 die for different reasons, yesterday was eating, next day just randomly dies, it’s a well established tank with a lot of other fish, just very weird. honey gouramis on the other hand are very hardy and easy to look after.
I know this is a older video but I am trying to use a honey for my son's center piece 10 gallon tank. Just waiting for it to properly cycle. My question is I have seen different names for a honey and not sure which to go with as I have seen it called red, flamingo, gold honey . Are some hybrids either way which one should I try and get? My Honey lasted less than a year. Dwarf flame gourami less than 3 months. I don't lose any other fish in my 8 other tanks. Done with gouramis.

You can try changing the food. Sometimes it can also indicate an internal parasite.

Dwarf gouramis get larger and thicker bodied.
HONEYS. Dwarfs shouldn’t be sold let alone bred at this point. People think they die for no reason at all and just get more. Hones don’t have that problem and are peaceful

I have a overstock guppy tank with 5 Cory’s and 1 pleco . 40 gallons Ammonia at 0ppm Nitrite at 0pm and nitrate at 40-80 ppm . I do have hornwort and anacharis in the tank , last did a water change yesterday at 50% . Any advice on the nitrate spike ?
Nitrate generally doesn’t spike but build up over time. More frequent water changes should help. Also, just make sure your tap water doesn’t have nitrates in it.
I know you said a beta with a honey gourami would be tricky, but what if it’s a female plakat beta??? I’m planning to go get some Honey’s today, but my daughter has a female plakat in the community tank with female guppies, female platties, a female molly and a pair of cories at the bottom, but she is separated from the others with a tank divider and we would like to introduce her to the rest of the tank to add more space overall for all the fish.

PLants work well. I would only do one dwarf because multiples usually fight. I usually don't put angelfish in anything less than a 40 breeder.
I had a dwarf male Flame Gourami that would only bully new tank mates. Lost him to iridovirus. Now I have a female Powder Blue Gourami living in my community tank with two Pearl Gouramies, a Opaline Gourami and a male Betta fish. I can't find any Honey Gouramies around me.
