So glad you got to do this trip. I went to Europe for 12 days, and I was more st peace at my cabin on my return. Home is home. Enjoy the journey you are on. Thank you for showing us many things. Excellent skills and work ethic. Always good to see how others’ live so we can appreciate what we have. Glad you came to that collusion.
Over and over again i see UA-camrs that get gear for free and they really are under qualified to have it. They are just excited for fancy free stuff and it inevitably skews their reviews. So rare to see so much talent and be honestly truthful with the gear they are showing. Thank you so much for this. Such a treat!
Good Sunday Shawn, Mark, and Cali🐕! Wow! Those are serious and awesome professional photography equipments especially those telephoto zoom lenses! It would be so nice, if you can make a video on how to use basic digital camera!👍📷📹
Appreciate you sharing, I got to go pro six , still learning to use, I got the go Pro backpack. Been setting it up for logging . And my videos. Again appreciate you sharing .
Sean: This was so helpful. Thanks. Usually I skip videos that are mostly talk but this had so much helpful information I stayed with it the whole way through. Good work!
This video was a real eye-opener for me, thank you for sharing! Will be getting my first DSLR tomorrow, in hope to evolve beyond GoPros and perhaps raise the content value on my channel. Can´t thank you enough for showing this, thumbs up from Sweden!
Thanks for sharing Shawn! Mark’s photography is gorgeous, and it’s always fun to see what’s in other people’s gear bags. For filmmaking, might also recommend taking a rocket blower out there for the sensor, just because spot removal’s a little more tricky in post... and it’s a handy way to get dust and debris out of the gimbal motors too :)
i had to get a glass of wine for this one! excellent job, both of you! i know that gear is heavy and i know we're gonna love the upcoming videos. thank you, shawn.
Matty Bath, just signed up from Aussie to this channel as well, Glad Shawn that you have confirmed within yourself where home is. Our spirit whatever that be, within ourselves, seems to know where we will be safest, call it a hunch, or falling back on the history of what we know, and our historical family Knowledge - could all play apart in this. You have also come far, and you know your resources in this region well, and I hope you get all the things done this year, that you have set your mind to do, and to achieve this in it's fullest! Also regarding your choice better to know than be umming and arrring! All the best Matty!
Cali is quite the photo bomber. Ha. Lovely camera gear. Technicalities far beyond me. Glad you know how to use it all and can carry it. I will enjoy seeing the rewards of it all. .😺💞
I cannot wait to see your Alaskan experience!...my home state! Great video about your camera gear...thank you! Thank you to Mark also, going to check out your site!
Nice change of pace for a video Shawn. Going out to explore and take pictures or videos is a new concept to me. Bought a cheap Canon T6 with stock lens last year and I added a video camera a few months ago. Ive learned not to forget SD cards(bring extras) charge all batteries before taking off and a good camera pack is a must to pack everything.
This was great! Good advice about the 24/60 Frame rate for stills from video I love my Cannon DSL still learning how to use it great for beginners like myself I look forward to more of these Shawn Thank You
You're always so informative, Shawn. I have a family of photographers and professional videographers. Always interesting to hear of another one share of their equipment and knowledge... always learning. God bless you on your trip. Nature always reveals the heart of God. May you sense His peace and rest as you go.

Thanks for this insight into your gear, one question I have as I am looking at getting into a laptop to do my editing on instead of my home pc, is what laptops do you both use for your editing? Thanks and thanks for all the fantastic videos as we travel along on your journeys.
Wow...a lot of great information, I’m an amateur photographer, and wildlife is what I love to photograph. I live in the mountains so there is plenty of wildlife...after watching this video, I think I’m going to update some of my camera equipment! Thank you👍🏻..and yes...I have a Canon camera😊
Lol nice window wild life camera you have :-) wow video vrs still has no comparison with storage and power consumption, looking forward to seeing Alaska
Shawn, Just finished watching this segment and rather Excellent that you brought Mark onto your channel, Mark Raycroft is very informative - educational - and like yourself - good natured, He has answered many of my Questions as I am a plant and wildlife illustrator, and will be getting back into it soon. Illustrators need some photography skills as well, to work from - sometimes back at home! Excellent and informative segment, Your Channel is definetly going forward with more combined social - and knowledge skills. Bit like your great segment on the longhouse but differently - variety is the spice of life, and great your channel provides this! Matty Bath.
I wrote like last of March I was excited to be buying my camera equipment. well, it fell through. I'm still watching and learning from the best in what to look for what I want to capture when I do get to open this chapter in my life. Excellent informative video thank you. sweet pets for Cali
I agree on the fact that Cali is in the back ground. You just can't keep a star out of the camera. You got yo love her. I can't wait to see the video from your trip.
Shawn on the second DJI device he talked about a focus button. How do you know if it’s focused or not is their a monitor on the unit? I have the first DJI unit he showed and love it but it is a little bulky and loved the size difference
That was very informative information from you both, thanks. I took a photography class years ago. I used a 35mm SLR Minolta camera. It took awesome pictures. I now use a Nikon D5200. I know exactly where that scenery is in the last clips. I was that way a couple of weeks ago. The Fireweed is more vibrant in person and very prevalent this year. I remember when movie stars use to say don't ever have kids or dogs in the picture - they steal the show - oh that sweet Calli poking her nose in the window, LOL.
Any idea if that DJI can be attached to one of the attachments on a DJI drone ? I have an older drone but the only thing I wish it had was a better camera with a proper gimbal.
You are seriously new to photography? Your photos-at least the ones I’ve seen-are stunning and I do wish you’d post more at the end of your videos, like you’ve done on a few others. It’s a real treat to see quality photos of the beauty of nature. PS I’m stupid sleepy so please nobody judge my syntax lol.
love it! paused at 9:30 so I can order the DJI OSMO Pocket Action Camera for my upcoming trip in the mountains! and as a long exposure Astro guy I have tons of equipment over the years and this little gem will truly add a whole new perspective to those sessions!.....then back to watching to see what else I need to order for future trips ;) --- Thanks Mark and Shawn !!
Really informative. Totally cool. I like how both Canon and nikon are represented. Who knew there was so much to know about SD cards. I look forward to seeing it all.
Thanks, Shawn, you and Mark gave me a headache with all the technical jargon that you got into, but it's all good as you really opened my eyes to all the hassles involved to putting videos out! I see that Cali was either curious or anxious to get fetching the orange thingy, lol.
Great Info for professional work as well for shooting UA-cam Videos Love The work you do in and out and around the Cabin great Videos very enjoyable Thx for sharing!!!!!!
Shawn excellent video on camera gear. It's neat to still see the rival between Nikon and Canon. Back 30 years ago it's still there today. Both amazing cameras. Mark has alot of helpful tips and items in his collection. You're building a great group of colleagues. Very interesting video, thanks.
Thanks for sharing everything. Love your work. Just a suggestion, why don’t you try using a monopod? I find it very handy while using a telephoto lense, you should try it out.
GREAT video and info. Headed to Yellowknife next week for 8 weeks and this is very helpful, as we plan to do photography and maybe a little videoing. We will check out Mark's podcast also. I hope Cali is in the credits. What a ham. Be safe both of you. Greetings from the Arrowhead.
Hey Shawn I kno this is off topic but I heard that if u are sleeping out doors in winterthat if u take a piece of cloth get it wet to string over top ur tent an allow it to freeze it gives your tent or shelter a hard covering to block wind and moisture from hitting ur shelters main wall I headhomeless use the technique
