Midnight Sun. Never heard of that one before, but also never seen Alaska. Thanks for taking along with us Shawn. It's beautiful and serene so far. Can't wait for the next.
Whew! 1:00 your fast approach to the river's edge took my breath away! That looks like wild, dangerous water. 3:48 Ahhh, yes, more my speed 😄 lol 13:10 the color of that water!?! Beautiful landscape! Thank you!
So loving this series Shawn sitting here with my dog Regal just thundering and lightening like hell! outside here in Florida all nice and tucked in with the rain pounding on the tin roof Thanks for a complete evening Shawn look forward to the next one
What an adventure! Loving this series. People ask me all the time about bears around here. I always say, "I can't wait to film one!" Not the response they're expecting.
The color of that water is beautiful. I’m not used to seeing other people around you besides the usual boys. Looks weird. Nonetheless what beautiful footage. Looking forward to the next. Cheers Shawn.
Can hardly hear you Shawn for the noise of the river in the first little part of the vid... got better... OMG Shawn what beautiful scenery... thank you so much for sharing your trip with us xxx xxx xxx
Beautiful .... I remember the midnight sun when I visited the northern city of Inverness in Scotland back in June of 1984. We had set up our tents in a campground across from the city. Most of the fisherman on the River Ness were using two-handed salmon rods, whereby I was using my 9'3" 7 weight Orvis Advantage Plus. I even remember the streamer fly that I caught my 1st salmon on there ..... it was a fly developed in Maine called a nine-three ..... wish I had kept that fly for safe keeping, but I did keep my permits to fish the river. You are making memories, as well as recording them for your posterity .... all of ours, come to think of it. Digital cams and smart phones came way to late in my lifetime to have shared my adventures .... but I love sharing others. Take care and thanks much.
another awesome part of the series, Nice that the locals watch out for you when you were heading out to fish beautiful water,s and scenery, what an adventure and great fishing.
Amazing series to watch! I have never visited Alaska so following over there with your videos and views are kind of thrilling! Everything is so big and huge and high in Alaska compared to Sweden! Great series as always! Thank you, Shawn, for all the efforts you made for us your many subscribers to be able to enjoy your visit to Alaska! Highly appreciated, as always, whatever you do, you are doing so well! Greetings from Sweden!
One of my grandies asked me yesterday 'why do you like watching that man'? Told her because I like watching how someone builds something from scratch, plus I love the wildlife and wilderness footage and the lakes..Nature is the life!!!Been awhile since I went fishing & exploring..because I live in the prairies..Went from northern stock to southern life!
Wild and raging rivers, vistas of green grandeur, and misty cloud covered mountains - thanks for showing us nature's magnificence! Glad you stayed safe and didn't go down the trail to the river at midnight!
I had no idea that Alaska had mountains that big. Alaska is so beautiful and I bet it’s even more in perso. There strip to Alaska in my bucket list now. Thanks for the video that’s awesome
As popular as the Kenai river is and while not as wild and rugged as you might expect, I love the effort the take to keep the banks and wilderness around it pristine despite the number of people that go through there each year. Another great video :D
Shawn, your videography skills have gotten so much better since you started the channel. You really bring to life the essence of Alaska. I can't wait to move there someday, and to hopefully build a cabin of our own. Thanks for all that you do.
Watching this makes me think about all the beautiful places in this world that I’ve yet to see. I’m so grateful that things like UA-cam exist, as they allow me to experience the far-reaching corners that I’ll likely not get to in person. Thank you for the footage; thank you for being selfless with it; and, thank you for being willing to do all the hard work that is required in order to make these videos happen.
Gorgeous place Shawn!! Just so dang beautiful even watching from my phone in KY.. I can’t imagine what that must be like.. stay blessed, stay safe, and God bless!
For a busy river it still is pretty private. Fast moving water reminds me of the mag. Footage of the bears is awsome. I've wanted to do a trip like yours for the last ten plus years. One day but for now I can live in the moment through your videos... Thank you for sharing.
Awesome series Shawn. I knew where you were headed when you said you were gong to Alaska. Your episode at Dick Proenneke's cabin is a classic for the ages. You can know put a line through an item on your bucket list. It must have been magical for you to sit at Dick's desk and write. I couldn't help but see flashbacks to My Self Reliance videos of you building your cabin and watching Dick build his. Unbelievable trip!!!
Hey Shawn I've been following your video adventures for a while now, but Alaska is your best wildlife/scenery video. It brings back memories when I visited Seward and Denali for a month a couple of years ago. I definitely want to go back and experience the magic once again. I tell people who have Alaska on their bucket list to just do it, don't wait. It is indeed the last remaining wilderness. I know you would agree that it is an amazing experience! Thank you for your honest, hard work!
Loving following your adventures away from the cabin. Your wildlife footage is breathtaking. Absolutely inspired to do a Canada trip like this in the not so distant future. Thanks for taking us along.
Shawn, Having spent my youth reading white fang, call of the wild, Alaska has always been somewhere I’d like to visit. Watching your great videos has confirmed I need to start saving. Great work Shawn. Thank you again.
You talked about being up and not getting much sleep when I was stationed up there at elmendorf there in Anchorage I got off work about 11 at night got home got something to eat I started doing something outside the next thing I know it was 2:30 in the morning. And I'll keep saying this thank you for the videos and like I said it brings back a lot of memories for me
OK great video again, but I must agree with the majority the only thing that would have made it better is seeing Cali front and center!! She would have loved it and getting to play in the rivers!! Next trip must include Cali!!
The views are amazing! Glad you referenced the time, especially because it was still light out late in the evening. Looking forward to the next beautiful videos....be safe.
I know where you were, been there, and through there ... beautiful area. Love going there. It’s a short trip from Anchorage. Great to see that you made it there.
I'm late, but here nonetheless, thank you for sharing your amazing journey, Shawn. Much appreciated. Alaska surely is beautiful. Can't wait to see where you visit next and what you are up to. UK.
Boy that waters clear as glass. This reminds of the lines in the song North to Alaska by Johnny Horton ( I'm assuming that's what you've been referencing?) where he calls it the " land of the midnight sun". The footage in that movie was beautiful too. Thanks for your efforts, stay safe!
I hope you experience everything that you are ( were) hoping for Shawn while on your visit to Alaska, also I have to say nice save at the 4:10 point of the video . See you tomorrow for the next video , best regards from Lloyd way over here in Ontario.

You certainly know how to capture the suspense of Bears in the area !
Superb views of river. Love the colors thanks Shawn
That water color is spectacular. Love it.
Looking forward to watching all of the series
That IS high for the Kenai! I have great memories of camping on river islands in that river.
Good timing , Shawn...no bears, you did not get mauled with that fine fly rod as your only defense...LMAO...Really like the series...!! Smile....
Great views! That is a raging river and it looks like the rafters are enjoying it.
Tranquil and serene, so calming and lovely!
another awesome part of the series, Nice that the locals watch out for you when you were heading out to fish beautiful water,s and scenery, what an adventure and great fishing.

Haven't seen to much sunshine but that brings out the colors more it seems. Thanks Shawn
Around the time he was there, we were having a lot of forest fires. The sun is there, just muted because of all the smoke in the air.
Seeing these video is always awesome view. Beautiful country. Thanks for all the hard work. Throughly enjoyed.
Beautiful footage. I do love these videos. Very interesting and yet so relaxing. Love them and please keep them coming!

That cliff shot is beautiful. If I could have my way I'd set up shop right there. @14:04
I love the scenery! You look so happy and fulfilled!❤️❤️❤️
Breathtaking scenery,nice camera work Shawn.
I was at Katmai two weeks ago. It was part of my agreement with my client that I have time to spend time there watching the bears at Brooks Falls.
You talked about being up and not getting much sleep when I was stationed up there at elmendorf there in Anchorage I got off work about 11 at night got home got something to eat I started doing something outside the next thing I know it was 2:30 in the morning. I lived in northwestern MT for a short few years. Watching your videos, I get homesick for the mountains in Glacier Nat'l Park!
One of my favorite series so far of many wonderful Shawn James series.
Looking forward to seeing the rest of your episodes! Very exciting and interesting to see your adventures!👍🏻
Stunning photos. Thanks for taking me along.
Yay! I've been to Alaska! Thanks for taking me along with you on your trip to wild Alaska Shawnie. 💗👍

I agree, looks like we need to do a major road Trip!
Take Callie to Canadian Rockies
The views are amazing! Glad you referenced the time, especially because it was still light out late in the evening. Looking forward to the next beautiful videos....be safe.
Where humans don't reside the land and rivers are completely unsullied. The colour of that river is so unusual. TFS. Oh, missing Cali!!!!
The river comes from Kenai Lake, and it's that color because it's fed from glaciers... SR
Cat-like reactions at 4:07. Good catch!
It's like the Mother bear knew she was being filmed❤️
I know where you were, been there, and through there ... beautiful area. Love going there. It’s a short trip from Anchorage. Great to see that you made it there.
I especially liked seeing the eagle. :) So beautiful.
I'm late, but here nonetheless, thank you for sharing your amazing journey, Shawn. Much appreciated. Alaska surely is beautiful. Can't wait to see where you visit next and what you are up to. UK.
Beautiful, Shawn. Thank you so much for sharing.
The colour of that river water is incredible. 🙂🏞️
With this series set in Alaska and my brother in Bali, seriously getting the travel bug. Looks epic Shawn!
