- I have always felt that the small controllers included with the Tomy AFX sets are too small & that throttle resolution is not so good. The vintage AURORA 45 OHM controller is a great size & has smoother throttle response..great resolution!
With the new (old) AURORA controller from the 1970's I am sure you will notice better feel & big performance difference. They work great with magnatraction, and other pancake motor cars. I really like this vintage controller in combination with the Bulldog chassis.
I know I do.🏁
Thanks for the heads up, I have a few of those controllers in my part’s box, I know what I will be doing tomorrow.
Love hearing that sound brings back. Great memories.👍🏾👍🏾
That was a great video 👍🏁👍. I had no idea the difference the older controllers make, I've got one and can't wait to try it 😎. Great information and video 🏁👍🏁.
Hi AL, thanks for stopping bye.
I think you will feel the difference.
👍🏻🏁
Let me know if you see an improvement. 🏁
@@slotslidershoslotcars Big improvement in response using the 45 ohm controllers👍. Then I added the AFX dual power track AFX70636 with another AFX tri power pack AFX22045 and again massive improvement in both areas. Thanks again for the great information, keep up the Great videos 👍. Al
@@almcg4425 Glad that you made the change and are happy with the results! 🏁👍🏼
Now that brings back memories
the microscalextric controller works really good too
Man until you SEE the difference, you almost don't know its there... Glad I upgraded!
Afx also had 60 ohm controllers but the 45 ohm ones are the ones to have for “ hot “ cars
much better resolution.
Absolutely! thanks for dropping a comment. 🏁
That’s the reason I went to DiFalco adjustable one.
You are correct the ohm rating of the controllers is a mismatch for most cars. They are for the Mega G + cars. I agree the older controllers fit better in my hands, the new ones are too small for an adult.
I have a couple of the old speed shifter controllers I wish the worked for all slot cars
Genus controller hack!
Thanks Dan!
What ohm car chassis was this great show!!!!
Glad you like the video.
It is a 6 ohm can motor.
7T/25T pinion & crown gear, front & rear medium compound silicone tires.
Good driver. Any super g plus?
I haven't run my super G+ cars on this particular layout with these controllers, but have run my viper v-spec's w great results.
The sets are still targeted at kids, so toy quality and small size. I've said numerous times to the Racemasters folks that they really ought to provide controllers that are similar quality to the track, cars, and power units, and I'm sure plenty of other folks have done the same...oh well. And the need for 120-ohm controllers to run the mega g+ is annoying...have to either use the poor set controllers or buy another batch of hobby-level controllers. Or buy a set of electronic units, but then 4 of those will set you back ~$400. Thanks to Uncle Sam and the increasingly draconian "safety" regs.
120 ohm has a higher pitch. More rpm.
The Tomy 120 ohm controllers are only intended to be used with Mega G+ cars. They don't work well with anything else. The Mega G+ racing "system" is a Mega Joke in general.
I'm looking at controllers like what you have there on ebay and some have screws holding the two halves together and some do not. They look the same and same color. Some are being called Russkit Hand Controller. Do the controllers you have there have screws holding them together ?. Are they Russkit controllers ?. Thanks! for any feedback...
