- The speedo was not working? with all 4 wheels off the ground, I found out that let hand front wheel was not turning? So I stopped the right-hand front wheel from turning, then discovered I had a big problem with the engine and front suspension jumping ???

Hello Rob
The engine mounts certianly look worn as that's a lot of play they are showing so id guess at best its an advisory on the MoT? The good old Yemi bar with a bit of leverage will determine if they are worn mate.
There are driveshafts are available on Ebay all in for around £60 so just get a complete unit for that price.
Just another little hicup on the way forward mate as your well past the halfway stage and that 1st drive to the MoT station after the cars been 16yrs zzzZ is gonna be a big moment. Remember no need to tax the car if you just going for an MoT and back so if for example the MoT is at the end of a calendar month you wont lose a months rent to those DVLA scroungers.
Anyway Rob have a nice Christmas and put ya feet up now for a few days .. all the best for 2023 and looking forward to seeing this car on the road very soon
Happy Christmas, 🎅£60 sounds better than £70 for just the CV hub. I think when the CV was at its full angle it was locking up, hence all the movement.
Комент для підтримки каналу і правильного перегляду все буде добре
Think that's more of an issue with an engine mount than anything else? I doubt just the driveshaft would be causing the jumping issue. If anything was major, it would be noticeable when driving, it won't do it any harm changing the viscose fluids in transfer box and front dif either.
Thanks Steven Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you. 🎅 I put a DTI gauge on the CV hub where it comes out of the front diff and it was spot on, The CV boot was full of very black gear oil Full of broken-up Needle bearings.
@Fully Charged merry Christmas and happy new year...
Here is a video of our mk1 xr4x4 running on axle stands, this car was sat in our garage for 20 years and didnt even get started for that whole time...we have owned the car for 30 yesrs.. I kept a video diary, when we put back on the road in may 2022, and we ran it up to test abs sensors ua-cam.com/users/shortsIL2WIw9AqNU?feature=share as you can see there's no issues with suspension jumping etc. Cars done 1800 miles since the test with no issues.
@@stevenking2946 Hi Steve that is a very nice car,👍👍 my car only had 3 wheels turning when it was up on the stands, it was only when I stopped the other side wheel and then it started to turn, then the engine and suspension started jumping. But when I jacked up that side suspension (and the drive shaft was straight) the engine and suspension stopped jumping.
there are not enough caps on the caliper
orry I missed your comments, thanks for your support.
Offside engine mount for starters.

Thank you, Peter, merry Christmas and a happy new year to you. 🎅
Engine mounts looks gone
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you. 🎅
I would whip the cam cover off sounds like seized hydraulic followers or lack of oil.
Hi Chris, merry Christmas and a happy new year to your and your family. 🎅 It has had that noise from the first time I started it up, it had a new engine oil and cambelt before starting, I need to let the engine get nice and hot and take it for a long run first.

What I've found that works is to keep cranking the engine in short bursts with out starting seems to build the pressure up in them done this a good few times years ago especially when engines have been sitting i found even running them up for ages still don't prime them up.
