Robs Sierra Cosworth

Приєднався 15 вер 2016
This is a video blog of Sierra Cosworth it is my pride and joy, this is a record of the work I put into its restoration after 16 years parked in my garage, I have had this car for 29 years and it is not for sale. I have been putting off working on it for a long time and now I am now retired and have the time to work on it. The plan is to do the work required to make it road worthy and get it running, give it a good clean-up top to bottom inside and out, and then up to the paint shop (it's got some scratches and some rust bubbles on the bonnet).

Ho mate happy Christmas 🎄 i hope you get the parts you need to fix your knee and it all go's well happy Christmas from the black hands house to yours
Thanks Gaz. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Hopefully I will get the operation in January🤞, but will I not be able to drive for 6-8 weeks?🎅
Mate take this down..ur just advertising what you have .. it will end up like the other rs cosworth that's just been knicked... people can't have anything these days
Thank you for your comments and concerns. I have enjoyed making videos on UA-cam for two and a half years. I have made sure it has maximum security in and around the car, that doesn't appear in any of my videos. Merry Christmas🎅
@@RobsSierraCosworthtwo doberman pinchers in the dark, now that is security around the vehicle.😍
Great to see you back Rob, good luck with the pending operation, all the best 👍🏻
Thanks Matt it is great to be back, I am not looking forward to this operation 🤞. Wishing you a Merry Christmas.
Best wishes Rob & fingers crossed for a speedy recovery 👍🏻
Thanks, Charlie. Hopefully, I will get the operation done soon, but it does mean I cannot drive for 6-8 weeks. I wish you a Merry Christmas. 🎅
@ Merry Christmas to you & all your family, Hopefully you will be all ready to go for the summer 🤞
Lovely car in a lovely part of the county 🙂 some quaint streets there. Have a nice Christmas, hope the op goes well. God bless the NHS 🙌
Thank you Rick, its a beautiful place to call home and there are lots of lovely stone-built houses in towns and villages here. Have a Merry Christmas.🎅
I hope you have a successful operation Rob ,and look forward to more of your great videos ,just rest the knee and take it easy for now, the time will come when your able to move around quickly again .In the meantime enjoy Christmas and the new year and make sure the family wait on you to nurse you back to health.
Thanks Adrian, I will try and get some rest, Merry Christmas to you.
good to see you back, merry xmas and best of luck with the op 👍
Thank you and a merry Christmas to you.
Happy Christmas
Merry Christmas John.
Excellent drive around. Take me to the pub on the common when you are next out and about.
Are you missing the Old lodge?
looks great to me!
Thanks Dave, I enjoy driving it too much to work on it.
Thanks for the video, mate car. looks fantastic and fun. I hope you're well
Thanks Gaz, I am limping around on a dodgy knee but other than that I am OK.
Ey up Unc :) motor sounds Lovely !!! Yea gimble’s are always better. I bet you did look like a right bellend with the head cam on 🤣🤣 but it does make for a good viewers video angle, just like Gran Turismo 😍 Gotta come visit you been so long
Thanks Andy, it did start to slip upwards at the end, give me a ring.
I enjoyed it Rob , the cars running well , I wonder what area of the car your working on next ,although I think you have completed all the jobs to it .Good luck Rob hope to see more videos.
Thank you Adrian, I want to do something with the underside next but will need some advice first.
good try but the cossie is wasted on these roads need a fast flowing road to take it for a rag 😁
Thanks Johnny, yes it is very frustrating not to be able to give it some stick, but it does seem to be more reliable.
Hi Rob, the quality of the first camera with the shots around your car looks good. But I think maybe due to some compression to get it on UA-cam the picture itself hessitates a bit. Head camera also looks ok altough a bit less good quality. And it look likes it filming more upwards to the end of the shot. Question; does your cosworth still smokes like it does on your intro movie when firing it up?
Thank you Wim W, That is a problem when one uses 4K and a free video editing program, the head cam was 4K but a much cheaper cam. The engine does not smoke that video was taken when I forgot to plug in a new MAP sensor.
Great drive, least we forget.
wouldn't really call that a blast but to each there own i suppose
Looks like a fabulous place to live , nice little spin in the saph , she's sounds great
Thanks Mark, it is fun to drive and a great place to live.
Thanks for the video 📹 nice to see you having fun with the car
Thanks Gaz, some of the roads around here are a bit narrow but it is good fun.
Try a head camera so we can see your view and more shots of the car👍
Thank you Mr Nathc, I have not tried the head cam yet but will try it and put it in the next video, I did take a video walking around the car but forgot it.
can we see the car you fanny!
Go look at his other videos u can see the fucking car then he have plenty of video up of it
Go and look at his uther videos, you fanny and take ya head for a wobble
@@Fordman99. I just wanted to make this video different.
What can one say about the police, even though this is obviously an open and shut case they are not interested. Well done on the security.
Thanks Jeff, 👍
We live in Stroud and saw the same thing at the end of year, same as you ours was locked, but others had money etc nicked. We did call the police and told them we had cctv and they came and looked at it and reckonised the guy straight away. The cheeky sod tried the following week, so sent video this time and asked what was happening. They did arrest him I believe, it looks very much like the same guy, so it might be worth you calling 101 and mentioning you have video. Got to be worth 10 minutes of time if the catch him again, I'm sure it was in the stroud news journal as well. Unfortunately expect him back as people seem to insist on leaving their cars unlocked.
Thank you for your comment, I did contact the police on 101and the first response was positive, but the next day some guy rang and said my videos may not be good enough, but trying a door handle is a criminal offence. My next-door neighbour on the other side has had this happen 3 times, I have been sent the article in the Stroud news and journal but I do not think it is the same person, it said he has been tagged and the person that visited my place did not look to have one on?
I don't think they said how long he was tagged for. To me and my partner he looked very simular, your clip is as good as ours were, like I said the copper recognised him virtually straight away. It's easy money for them when they've got people like your neighbour.
How awful, probably a Romanian or albanian gypsy, everybody should refuse to pay council tax for what the police are worth these days.
Thanks Adrian, we don't see many of them around here but we see plenty of our own local rats.
Reform will sort that ahht 🇬🇧👍
Good one Chiefrocka
If you don't want to spray it. Choice is down to you Rob. Get it professionally valeted. You could be pleasantly surprised mate. If you're still in two minds after that? Then get it done!
Thanks George.
Hey Rob. New subscriber here. I'm from Minnesota and I have a 1988 Merkur XR4TI. If you get a chance I would love to see a VIDEO of how that 4x4 system works. Like is there a transfer case after the transmission, maybe some viewing of the front axle 4x4 stuff, Is there an opening in the lower strut section with shorter struts, were always wondering how that system works but can't ever find a video showing it. Thanks
Thanks Car Guy for your comment and welcome, I have not made a video on the 4x4 system, but it does have a chain-driven transfer case and viscous coupling with a spilt torque 34:66 front and rear.
Bonnie car mate 👍🏻
Thank you Al, I like driving it as well.
They are a great car to drive mate, had a 2WD Saph back in the day……wish I kept it 😂
@@almcculloch8906 Not only fun to drive, but it will be worth some good money now.
Hello Rob Having followed your videos from the start first of all its lovely to see ya now finally enjoying the car after all the recommissioned work and the sense of pride you have in doing it yourself. You have always said the car will never be for sale and is an investment for your daughter which i understand. So i would now be first looking at preservation of the underneath ie: waxoil, and powercoating of parts. You dont have to go the full concours route just a sensible underbody preservation. I was amazed how solid the car was after 16yrs of storage and the last 2 MOT,s confirm that with a non advisory in any pre-start corrosion. As for the paintwork well that depends on how you want to car to be. For if the paint has a few marks of slight scratches then of course a professional paint correction and detailer will work magic which will get the orignal paint looking superb. Obviously if the paint is starting to bubble or there are more deeper marks then its a case of having these addressed which will be in a paintshop again a professional painter can address these without a full repspray and at less cost. Yes the question is (its only original once) but how many cossies are there nowadays in having no paint whatsoever? So personally if it was my car id be 1st getting the underside presevered and then the paintwork issues if any addressed to how far ..you.. want the car to go in the fact as i said at the start the car will not be sold and is a nice little investment for your daughter. Still mate heres a thought?? When your daughter one day inherits it she might have it painted pink and a 500bhp engine 🤣 Take care mate so nice to see ya having some revs in the cossie CheeRS Nigel 🍺
Thank you Nigel for your support and comment, I know what you are saying about the underneath and I am putting it off, for two reasons first I do not know how I am going to do it and secondly, as I know there is a lot of work involved to do it properly. As far as the paint is concerned I am thinking maybe get the rust bubbles and the paint lacquer done, then get it detailed with Paint Correction. Do you know my daughter? Because she may do that.
Great to see you out enjoying the car during the glorious weather we have been having, all over the country for a change 😎👍
Thank you Ricky, I should be gardening but driving the Cossy is much more fun.
Don’t respray it as the other comments have said have a professional detailer carry out a correction 👍🏻
Thanks Andy, I am looking into it, there are 3or4 local to me. I will keep you all updated when I have checked them out.
Sorry I know I say it everytime but holy hell that YBJ soundtrack, nothing quite like it 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Hi Rob how about the Hinton Ampner car show in the summer.
Hi Mick, unfortunately I cannot make that show, but it sounds like a good one to go to,
The paintwork looks good, I would get a professional detailer to carry our a three stage paint correction on it. You will be amazed at the results.
Thanks for that Stephen, I will check out some local professional detailers.
Paintwork looks good to me...one of the best colours for these cars. Mine is diamond whiite and does need some new paint in places due to a few dings over the past 33 years of my ownership..Friends say have it resprayed but I like to keep it as original as poss. In any event, no matter how much you pay, you can always tell if a car has been resprayed when you look closely. A bit of a patina is a good thing and hey, its whats under the bonnet thats the important thing....never fails to thrill!
@RobsSierraCosworth 37 seconds ago Thank you Michael, it may be best to keep it as original as possible, but for now I intend to have fun driving it.
The car looks good and sounds well, you done a cracking job
Thank you Charlie for your comment, it is good fun to drive as well, I hope you are keeping well.
I want to see you drive some stunning roads with amazing scenery 👍
Thank you Mr nathc, I will do that in my next video.
i dont think there is any reason to respray it, looks great as is
Thanks Dave, I am coming round to that idea.
Dont respray it it looks fine as it is,
Yes, with you on this one- get a good detailer to do their think, it’s a 30+ year old car now 👍
Thank you for your comment, I might keep it original but do some work underneath.
Nice day out for the car mate looked like a good turnout. I liked the escorts, but they were very clean and shiny, not like my rust van
Thanks Gaz, I think all the cars drove there as I did not see any trailers parked up, but some people were cleaning their cars on the day.
Hello Rob Glad the show went well and some nice cars there especially rhe Series 1 RST always a favourite of mine. . Just managed a glimpse of a certain flint grey saff cossie around the 01.08 to 01.12 mark as you should of put yours in the video mate Anyway glad you enjoyed the day and the old British weather always bloodt joins in. Take care mate hope the exhaust isnt roo much as doubt it is CheeRS Nigel 😎
Thank you Nigel, I was so interested in all the other cars that I forgot my own car? I found the problem with the exhaust, it is touching the rear bumper.
Nice car show that was Rob. A shame about the weather. But respect for all those nice shiney cars that showed up! Next time dont forget to film your cosworth at the show!😅
Thank you Wim W, Yes it was a good turnout and everyone I talked to was very friendly, it was typical British weather, next time I will video my car first.
A good clean bill of health 😜
Well done Rob . The car sounds great . Looks like you enjoy it which is great to see
Thank you Philip, it's a great car and is fun to drive.
Exactly the same as my father's I stupidly wrote off. Only had 38000 on the clock when I did it. Absolute f,ing idiot when I was a youth.. edit....just noticed this has the original orange side indicators. My father's were smoked.
Had every faith in you and your car Rob! Now get in. Turn the clock back and put your Hooligan hat on! lol.
Thank you George, it had me worried for a bit, I cannot turn the clock back but I can put my hooligan hat on.
success! 👍 keep these vids coming rob, i thoroughly enjoy em 👍
Thanks Dave, I am trying to make more videos, I have put some not the Cosworth on my second channel. www.youtube.com/@robrambling
Didnt doubt you'd get a straight pass 😎 enjoy your trip out at the weekend 👍
Thanks Ricky, it is always a worrying time when the MOT is due, I will enjoy it it is for a good cause but it could rain 🌧on Sunday.
Hello Rob Well done mate super clean pass for the cossie and now the summer is here to enjoy it. (When rhe bloody sun decides to come out that is 🌤) Ive said it once and il say it again id have it all painted mate with a fresh coat of lovely flint grey as every penny spent is an investment for its a £30K car already mate and a lovely little investment for your daughter in years to come. Have a great weekend and enjoy the bank holiday show CheeRS Nigel 🍺
Thank you Nigel, I want to get the underneath cleaned and painted, then it's down to the paint shop. I am not too bothered about how much it is worth, but I did see today the same as my car and year are going for that money with a good paint job.
Love this.
Thanks you, I enjoy driving it as well.
