Lady, you are always pulling at my heart strings with these wonderful recipes. I am a nurse and work 12hr shifts. I have made so many of your recipes. They are so good, flavorful, and fast. I am forever grateful because of the time-saver. Crockpots are heavens gift to the kitchen. I can cook while sleep and wake up to wonderful aroma and lunch for my shifts. Keep them coming.

cold weather is a relative thing. i'm from new england and lived in meyersville texas for 13 years. i would walk around with shorts and t-shirt in jan. feb. and everyone else had their jackets on. people would always say, you're not from around here, are ya? very funny, but living in maine again, i miss meyersville and the ranch i lived on when winter comes, miss you texas!

I'm sick with a head cold. That soup looks so good and would sooth my sore throat. Might need to send hubby to the store so I can get it started. Maybe he could make it for me.
I cannot wait. This would be awesome with a salad and hot garlic bread, or even cornbread.

Catherine, perfect comfort food. My grandmother used to make a soup she called "refrigerator Soup" when she would take most of the leftovers, along with some onions, soup stock or broth, and make the most delicious homemade soup ever. This brings back many fond memories of my childhood. :)

Hi Catherine! I've never had Shepherds pie or Shepherds pie soup in all my 48 years of life that I can remember. I've always heard mixed results from others about it so I've always been afraid of making it for my family. But by looking at yours, I can't see why anyone wouldn't just love it because it looks amazing!! I have a tight budget when it comes to our grocery shopping every month so I make a meal plan for the entire month. I create about 30 meals per month and buy only the things we need or are out of for those meals. Now we usually have some left overs to eat on for a couple of days so what meals I buy for that month that we don't make carries over to the next month. So a lot of the ingredients you have in your Shepherds pie soup, we probably pretty much already have. So a meal with some of these ingredients in my meal plan could definitely be used to swap it out for the Shepherds pie soup! Long story short... This is a recipe I would love for my family to try! By the way, I just love your blog! It's so easy to read and search for certain recipes! Also I mentioned to my mom how I would love to have a rotary cheese grater just like yours since I have arthritis in my hands so she cought me an early Christmas gift and got me the exact same rotary cheese grater like yours! I've been sick with my first head cold in 3 years. I haven't had much energy. But I saw this video and decided to make it. We loved it. However even with my crock pot on high for four hours the cheese wouldn't melt. I had to transfer it all to a Dutch oven and get it to a hotter boil. I will definitely make it again and again but will plan on cooking it about six hours. Thanks for the great recipe.
Made this for supper tonight and smelled great while cooking all day. Tastes even better. Only problem I had was my cheddar cheese clumped but got some of it dissolved and removed what didn't dissolve. Didn't effect the taste. Perfect day for soup weather hot cooler

An hour before it was done I added some pot pie pasta squares and that was super giving me the pastry part of a shephards pie but in noodle form
This is such a good idea! Our family loves shepherd's pie, but our sons don't like the mashed potatoes on top. They would like this because of the cubed potatoes in it instead. Thank you!🙂
