Widen the stance (longer axles) and you'll be fine. An old '78 Honda Goldwing GL1000 powertrain would fit a mower nicely. eBay always has motorcycle stuff. Parts bike at $300 bid www.ebay.com/itm/1978-Honda-Gold-Wing/332451341711?hash=item4d67a4e58f:g:gcsAAOSwZB9Z-Rnl&vxp=mtr Then might need wheelie bars...
I think that the majority of viewers would not realize the skill that it took to do that pully swap. Mustie is a master at making something out of nothing.
Cool vid . Brian is young , at 53 I require shocks on my toys ! My mower beats the crap out of me ! The wife and I are still running our `87 Hondas mine is a 350 rancher 4x4 , hers is a 200 Fourtrax , thousands of hours on them , still run great ! PS her 200 will smoke my rancher !
Hey Mustie1, Nice fix on that pulley, when one works on this kind of stuff, one realizes how important it is to find center, especially with a chain drive, hope U enjoyed the cruise!
You got to love the kohlers, i have a 27hp on my husqvarna mower but im using a vanguard 18 on my old yard pro to rip around on. I have a old Ford, 2 JD,s a roper and 2 husqvarnas sitting around
Hey there . I really love your vids. I'm from London England and have watched every you tube post I CAN find... not to be too over the top , but your channel and you inspire me and spark my dislecksik brain into positive thinking with every video... thank you and don't ever stop. Sincerely Sam Gilmour uk
Of course only one headlight works on that mower! Not sure how loud that was without a muffler, I'm sure not Harley loud, but Brian needs to buy a bottle of something for his neighbors after that test run at night! -lol
Loved the video. That thing sounds bad ass. Just on thing. Easier to measure the diameter than the circumference. Both give you the same number. Did this when I changed my Jeep tires. Went from 30 inch tires to 33 inch tires. 10% change. This how I figured the gear ratio change I needed.
Always like your videos, keep up the good work! UA-cam says my browser can't play any known video types so I'll try again tomorrow. I still gave it a like (sight unseen) 'cause you never fail to educate and entertain!
Ive had a couple of vdubs flood after their were warmed up and it was too much fuel pump pressure ...I put more gaskets under the pump flange and it cures the problem... nice to have a fuel pressure gauge to help determine if thats it.. have to check those after market parts !! happy buggin !
Cool mower. Thing sounds pretty good with the open exhaust. You must live near Portsmouth, cuz that's exactly where you were at on that drive with those other busses. I'm from upstate NY, but I used to go to Portsmouth to Bavarian Autosport for the big BMW show n shine event every year with a whole convoy of us bimmer heads and we definitely used to go on drives through that same exact section. Very nice area and good people. Also pretty cool how the NH liquor stores have exit ramps right off the highway. We don't have anything like that up here. I'd consider even moving out there. Nice place. Keep up the good content sir! Its enjoyable.
Another great How-to video without all the useless banter/chatter that so often accompanies the How-To guru YT video scene. The cruise scene is testament to that with no human faces, only dog faces. Hey, Hoonigan's -are you listening? Nope.
It did go faster, but (there always is one) it would have lost some pullaway. He needs a small car gearbox and clutch lol :-D. Good to see others driving the old vw's :-)
Mustie1 is too much, I see but do not believe. He's a small engine repairman. He's an automobile mechanic. He's a welder. Now I see, that he is also a Machinist. What other profession has he got? Amazing !!!
Guess I gotta take back all that I said about you using poor Brian for a winch motor , you helped build up his muskles.. don't need no darn spinich . them ther dial calipers aint yor magic hammer did you forget????
Mustie. I am about to do my first VW 1300 seal job. I have a few questions about sealing. Paper seals are included in the kit for block to cylinder and copper rings for the head. I don't know what should I use. Some channels say not to use anything to seal the engine. What do you recomend?? Also what do you apply to seal the lifter tubes and plastic seals?? Thanks. Andy
Yesterday I was pulling my cushman gas gxt875, and I was using a lawnmower to pull it and I accidentally flipped it. 😑🤣🤣 I was fine, and my friend said sick wheelie dude.
Hey bud i got a question if u dont mind im working on a budget build i found a riding lawn mower late 70s i cut a hole to mount a push mower engine 6.5 horsepower. Do u think it make any high speed passes ive got it all motor installed with belt pully system still work on but is it possible to get speed from the toro 6.5 push mower engine thank great videos bud
Yooo is that a 3 speed with high and low? I’m tryna figure out a good pulley set up for mine but can’t seem to find a good combo? I’m running a 5in up front and 5 in rear and only getting 11-12mph
Man I just got jealous! I have been searching for weeks for a pulley over here, and no one has anything. Every garage, machine shop, mechanic I've contacted says they throw away those things when they get them... The only thing I've found is possibly a new pulley and taper boss for the nice price of ~$125 😛
About the best part of the machine, the cool way he mounts up. I'd rate the machine higher if he got a set of "slicks" for on-road use, and fixed the other headlight, lol... Still, looks like it was a fun project.
Um, Brian needs to find an old snowmobile. Put the engine, clutches, chaincase and exhaust in that tractor. They go like mad when that's done. Chain drive to the rear. Don't forget a tensioner. It will be a good video too. Hint, hint. Come on, you know ya wanna, lol.
stevenwithanS If you wanted to drag race it maybe, but it’s better to have a gearbox for going through the woods. A two stroke sled motors would load up and foul plugs
brians channel here, ua-cam.com/channels/TT9mT4UQanMH-rGm_ZUB3w.html
Mustie1
Brian’s channel doesn’t come up. Says error
type in vwnut 1967 on the search bar while in UA-cam
I would say he liked what was done to his mower/racer
Hyperlink works fine for me, and Subbed. Thanks Brian!

You got to love the kohlers, i have a 27hp on my husqvarna mower but im using a vanguard 18 on my old yard pro to rip around on. I have a old Ford, 2 JD,s a roper and 2 husqvarnas sitting around
Glad Brian got it running and even running faster! Nice pulley addition welding!

I like the squeaky reptile, perfect sign off!
What beautiful house overlooking the sea...........
Nice to see you the wife and the dog out enjoying Lucy for the day
From 13 to 18 inches with too much load. That's some upgrade. Nice video as always.
Love the shot of the vans in the rear view!

That mower sounds good!
Who knew they could sound like
A hot rod!
The good old Volkswagen Icebox. I had a Vanagen that had a gasoline fired heater in it .It would smoke you out of the van . lol
Please may we have a tutorial on mowing mud please
Its done very carefully ; )
Oh and it should only be done by trained professionals
Uk Mud 😂😂funny sh!t!
The mud mower doesn't have a mower deck. Can't do it ,sorry.
very nice scenery at end
Cool mower. Thing sounds pretty good with the open exhaust.

You have to build one now you and Brian can go muding. Great videos
If I remember right Mustie said he was going to build one.
I think their are videos of one he has already
Mustie doesn't have one.
Nice ride at the end . . . . :) Rog
Lots of work but definitely worth the results. Thanks, Mustie!!
hi from Brazil! huge fan
Great all round video bro.
I love Rt1a heading down to Hampton I miss it now that I live in Fla
Mustie, gotta luv a box of goodies.
you made that look easy buddy good job
DriveShaft Drew Ikr lol
You could use roofing tar on the container. Good thing about those shipping containers is if you do find a hole you can weld it.
thank you for all the help sir
You gatta post more @mustie1 i love you video's
you are the bob ross of small engine brother. You cool man.
Got to love the VW oorn at the end of this video. But Crusty needs to come out and play sometime too.
Cool little mud bogger!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and to your family and may God bless you

Reminds me that i have to sort my pulley stash. Went in to get a replacement, left 3 hours later...why can't shops auto sort themselves?
Is that the sea or a lake at the end? Beautiful houses over looking the water.
Sea. It's the coast of New Hampshire.
You Guys, lol.....nothings quite fast enough, great video
Too much load? nah, not a problem. Something tells me there's going to be a blown engine before the winter is out on his mower :-)
A cold cruise right there...👍
Great video
It did go faster, but (there always is one) it would have lost some pullaway.
He needs a small car gearbox and clutch lol :-D.

Hey Mustie, have a happy Thanksgiving.

Sounds like a hopped up Indian now! Time for a real gear box. 🔥
4:20 weee :D the squeaky toy rofl. youll need to for go the pulley system and do a transmission. theres gotta be something that will attach to it.
Just wondering why you didnt use an indicator gauge and shims on the lathe work.
Muscle Mower! That thing makes a glorious noise
Hey Mustie, enjoy your video's! Would love to see you build a Chopper using a 20hp v twin mower engine since you like building bikes!
Nice hardware store😁
Yessssss! Amazing video....
Do you lose torque when only upgrading the drive pulley to a bigger one ?
Any videos of that trike?? Looks like fun!
very fun looking
Guess I gotta take back all that I said about you using poor Brian for a winch motor , you helped build up his muskles.. don't need no darn spinich . them ther dial calipers aint yor magic hammer did you forget????
Looks solid

Nothing wrong with that run out at 8:04. What lathe do you have?
Now that’s a fast mower
Yesterday I was pulling my cushman gas gxt875, and I was using a lawnmower to pull it and I accidentally flipped it. 😑🤣🤣 I was fine, and my friend said sick wheelie dude.
Nice welding

Is that a Shepard’s lathe ? I have a Shepard single badge from the 1800’s
Isn't that Miller sweet? I love mine.
Fun stuff
Yooo is that a 3 speed with high and low? I’m tryna figure out a good pulley set up for mine but can’t seem to find a good combo? I’m running a 5in up front and 5 in rear and only getting 11-12mph
That stuff you hoard is obviously not a hoard, it's a depot (which means you are a not a a hoarder but 'depoer'?)
repurposer
@@TedBishop1, I consider myself a recycler peace

VWNUT? Love it. And here I thought my 1STGHIA was cool.

I found some online at oreilleys website for 6$ for 4.5" with 1.5" bore.. 6" for 20..
16:45 For Brian's fancy leg overs! ;)
About the best part of the machine, the cool way he mounts up. I'd rate the machine higher if he got a set of "slicks" for on-road use, and fixed the other headlight, lol... Still, looks like it was a fun project.
Can never have too much load 😁
Mustie 1, did you know there’s a way to tell when automobile tires are manufactured?
years ago we'd swap the front and rear pulleys from various junk mowers, lots of fiddling to get it how you liked :)
Little tinkering works a treat
As mustie clanks the precision measuring device against the stash inventory items...lol
16;35 ish whats the things bottom right crawling in to your work shop ?(they sparkle)

THAT SOUNDS AWESOME

'67
Mustie1 machine shop to the rescue!
How does it back fire
HEY, I HAVE BEEN THERE BEFORE!!! RT,1
the mower sounds fast
Was this modification approved by the NTSB, OSHA,EPA and the FDA?
Probably not, but I'd bet dollars-to-dogshit that the Harley-Davidson crowd would approve of the straight-pipes.
18.36 You have faieries living in your garage???
16:53 bottom right corner,,,what are those lights?
were did you get the the left table from!
