Any one trying to find the right belt size use a piece of string. Run it across the pulleys. Make a mark at the start and end. Measure it and that’s ur belt size. Your welcome 🙃
I just got rid of everything on the bottom the clutch and all. Bought a centrifugal clutch and welded a pulley to the sprocket. It does about 30 no problem. It’s a 5 speed so it’s kinda just like a go cart with gears 😂
briggs and stratton is DEFINATELY the way to go! i just bought a 1983 bolens mower with an 11 horse briggs in it and it idles like you wouldnt believe! All i did was change the battery on it.
I gotta 18hp kawasaki v-twin 603cc ;) I'm thinkin about doing something like this - make me a racing mower! Gotta Husqvarna with 700 hours on the engine for 50 bucks with a parts ride on mower (v twin briggs but scratched up cylinder walls)
I’ve gone 40 on my mud mower with no brakes and Stock steering, I also had no front wheel bushings so it was a 7/8 bore wheel on a 3/4 inch shaft, TONS of play. 5-2 1/2 inch ratio. Just gotta take it slow shifting and hold the steering wheel tight
Do not keep the rear tires on the front it had no bearings or anything and it will heat weld itself to the spindle. I did the same thing on my off-road mower. Tire locked up on the trail
WHATS YOURSOC then you can keep taking them on and off to redo them every time on the trail and before the trail. And if you drill a hole to put a grease fitting on it there is no way to keep the grease in and still without bearings the grease will heat up and still drain out. Still better off making new hubs out of a golf cart and going from there. I tried the grease and oil and whatever else you can think of. Hard to do in the middle of the woods when you don’t know all the grease is gone and your out for an hour
100th like! lol - almost a year since ya posted this guy - subscribed - hopefully you have more videos of this build!!! Looking forward to more like it!
I would say too much trailer tongue weight , it would just do a wheel stand. I have tried to tow a little Wagon full of bricks and the belt did not slip but the wheels just dug a hole in the dirt. but I think you would be surprised on how much it could tow if the weight ratio was correct so it did not pop a wheelie or dig into the ground
The motor has an enlarged oil pump. The oil comes out slower and it takes longer to drain. But it will run fine. You may need to change the oil more frequently. ;-)
john Doe wish I would have known that😂😂. pulled up to the barn went to stop with the bike brake an hit the barn. I'm fine but can't say the same about the front axle😂😂😂
the mower im turning into a racing mower is like a mid 80,s red Murray mower it has a Peerless 4 speed manual trans a couple of the tires are busted but i have 4 spare tires that i might put on it they have better treads
James Brown that ratio would be insane, possibly too much torque and you would have slow launches with a high top speed, maybe. It might just not be able to run because they’re usually an 8/1 ratio, flipping it might be too much of a load on the motor
But it shouldn't move until you let off the clutch so if you were still on the clutch when that happened then the belt Is too tight or the clutch isn't functioning properly maybe because if the stop you welded on the clutch pedal
few things i would do different. my mower did 30 mph, or at least thats what the cop said... (no tickets, just wanted to ask what i did to it). looks like it goes fast on camera so i know it hauls ass!
I know this is a super old vid but did taking your gov off ever cause any damage? I’m torn between just bending the gov or removing it. People say you can grenade a rod if you remove gov.
lord xavier make one man. it real easy. I'm buying another lawnmower for 40$. take the deck off swap the pullys an get bigger tires an pimp it out. may seem hard but once u sit down n do it u realize how easy it is
Hey man, check out my builds. I think you will like them. By the way, you may want to re think your front wheels, the keyway slot slowly grinds the axle off, I've lost an axle that way. Just an FYI. lol
Hell yea i wanna make my black mtd go 10 15mph so i can make trips to corner auto parts store Subcribe to my channel i subcribed to yours awesome video by the way

thats why i like murrays, super simply clutch design

I got a 20hp twin from a 89 I'm tryna figure out how to hook up the throttle as a pedal
If u want to go fast Play 5 inch pulley on the front and a one and three-quarter inch on the back in at 6000 RPMs it should go 42 miles an hour
That sounds like a good ratio. Room to play with and not too much bogging.
Grant Barker what size belt

Sounds like a good way to end up with a hole in the block

Thanks for sharing. 👍
Nice video looks like a ton of fun
fab a collar, bushed at both ends that replaces the piece you took out. But bridges them together so that they will support each other.

Great build bud
Sweet! Good job
I have an extra 12.5 hp. Briggs and a transaxle but no tractor sadly
37:50 for riding it
My eyes are watering I'm laughing so hard lmao

You dont need brakes I think a good ole fashion boot to the gravel will slow you down enough
😂 I’ve ruined lots of shoes doing that with my mini bike when I was way younger

It might be easyer to swap one pull at a time I only swapped the rear pully to a 2" and I was abble to hit 40 mph
You feel its fast now, you pull that GOV and go direct to carb, you'll find out what fast is.
Cory Smith what will it do😂😂
Rock on , all most done with mine all so
36:47 Luckily there was a towball. :-D
Move your pivot bolt on your clutch closer to spring by 1"
Safety Sam Sez: bicycle brakes won't stop you quick enough,, be very very careful.
john Doe wish I would have known that😂😂. pulled up to the barn went to stop with the bike brake an hit the barn. I'm fine but can't say the same about the front axle😂😂😂
I just subscribed to your channel and hello from New Hampshire.
Hello from Massachusetts
where did you get the front pulley?
the mower im turning into a racing mower is like a mid 80,s red Murray mower it has a Peerless 4 speed manual trans a couple of the tires are busted but i have 4 spare tires that i might put on it they have better treads
that's a bad as bike bro!!!!! good work!!!!
Can i just put the front pully on the back and the back pully on the front?
James Brown that ratio would be insane, possibly too much torque and you would have slow launches with a high top speed, maybe. It might just not be able to run because they’re usually an 8/1 ratio, flipping it might be too much of a load on the motor
what should I do I have a l120 John deer vtwin 20 horse and I want to make it a race mower what should I do
Unless your front wheels are powered, I don't think you want width the narrower the better.
But it shouldn't move until you let off the clutch so if you were still on the clutch when that happened then the belt Is too tight or the clutch isn't functioning properly maybe because if the stop you welded on the clutch pedal

I like Briggs and Stratton.
hi...have tried to pull anythi g with this tractor...?..like a trailer or something
Andu Andy .yes i move my empty snowmobile trailer around with no problem
J La ok...so you can't really tow let's say...a 750.kg trailer with load
I know this is a super old vid but did taking your gov off ever cause any damage? I’m torn between just bending the gov or removing it. People say you can grenade a rod if you remove gov.
Put a predator 212cc on there and call it a day
there is another name for a set screw is a grub screw
i got to get drunk to drive my mower
Good job! Keep on.
I think you had to change your shorts 🤣
can. I. get. it.
lord xavier make one man. it real easy. I'm buying another lawnmower for 40$. take the deck off swap the pullys an get bigger tires an pimp it out. may seem hard but once u sit down n do it u realize how easy it is
