The great thing about Mac Demarco is that his live shows sound exactly like the records he puts out. He's not selling smoke, what you hear in his records is the real shit.
+Dinastía Chow Fan The oposite of what he's known for.... he makes his records by himself, and he has a band for live... very different vibe.. BUT i will grant you they both are 100% mac personality

I believe Mac is to my generation what .. who actually ? Who has been that endearing to the masses accross the whole last century ? When I am old, am gonna tell the kids .. "you know that old guy .. his music has been there to me when no one else was" Perfection.
I remember when Mac lived in Vancouver ( before he moved to Montreal) he lived in my neighborhood. Almost everyday when I walked by his home, I would smell marijuana coming out from his windows. Mac and his roommates were heavy users. He's a cool dude though.
I don't know who the sound engineer is at KEXP but they deserve an award because both the live performances in studio/on radio and performances like these always sound beyond incredible. Never heard an artist sound bad on KEXP
First time I saw him live Andy his guitarist jumped right on top of me and played his guitar and on the last song I snuck up on stage and stage dived.... I would say it was a great concert
my roommate heard me listening to this and said she was super into this one Mac DeMarco album even though it's got super repetitive surfy dream pop aesthetic it somehow trances her out in a way that makes her listen to it longer than she would've expected herself to
mac is creating a new style that alot of people are following. big short sleeve sleeve shirts and cheap blue collar ball caps. i like how he is helping hipster sheeps save money and going to garage sales for clothes instead of hot topic

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this performance. There really is nothing quite like him.
Hats are required to be in macs band
i admire so much how he doesn't give a crap about his image.
Orlando SOrozco - not a band that have been 'styled' to any extent. The music more than makes up for it though - fantastic stuff.
David Chapman totally agree
+Orlando SOrozco not giving a crap about his image is his image
He does have a style, he calls it: Canadian construction worker
***** that's true in many aspects
That "black bird" cover tho..... chills
Chills down my butt man
The Stars Keep On Calling My Name is the best song I've heard in my entire life.
lolo i hate how i play it on guitar. geuss its because mac has his own tuning or something
@@Dylan-cj4hhcan i help you with it?
This era of the band was sick. I’ll never forget the first time I watched this session!
Such a charming dude. Hard not to love him.

Luc ky the Grateful Dead.
and so many others, yeah, I think I was pretty wasted on this very night, but I guess you got my point anyway .. the guy's dope
Mac is Rockstar in our generation
Cooking up something good sounds so much better live than on record
Agreed!
a lot of his songs are like that. "Im a man" is my favorite example
Props to the audio engineers and of course the band.
I watch/listen to this every morning as I'm drinking my coffee and getting ready. Makes my day a whole lot brighter!
HayGurl Hay do you still do this

Matthew McConaughey from Dallas Buyers Club on lead guitar

Whoa, they sound great live. One of the things I like so much about lo-fi is how close the live concerts sound to the albums.
Also nice mustaches
But is this lo-fi?
I know this is 6 years old but ‘lo-fi” ? 🧐
This is indie-rock my dude.

Curtis Doyle The recording engineer is Kevin Suggs and I do agree best sounding live performances ever.
space.jam "Get in the fucking robot, Mac"
This is the greatest version of Let Her Go I've heard.

This rendition of Let Her Go is so good.

Pierce's little covers make my life
They look like they just crawled out of a tent.
so is it me or all the members of the band are actually the same person?
Hahahahaha
Yeah they all look like distant cousins or something
They are distant cousins.
lol its definitely cause they're Canadian
lol mac demarcos clones just wearing different disguises
The Mac never disappoints!
I was unsure about Alan Jackson joining the band at first, but he seems to be pulling his weight
God damn that was refreshing.
It makes me really freaking happy every time I listen to them.
I find myself coming back to this video so often because of the banger of a bassline on this version of blue boy...that shit POPS
Was listening to it just now thinking how good this version of blue boy is lol
andy's cool and all but mr. sagar will always be the real MVP in the mac demarco band
I can't wait until the day I see him live. He's such an amazing artist

I wish every singer was as happy as Mac.
Bit of an odd reference but maybe someone will get it but Macs backup guitarist looks like Tom Delonge in 182's 'First Date' music video.
Hahaha he kinda does...but to me he really looks like Matthew McConaughey in True Detective...
Haha holy shit he does also! Glad you noticed it.
:D
LOL
Sounds bit pony to me
This live version of brother is incredible. He puts on such a good live set. I want to see him again.

Piercy boy playin' the fuck outta that bass.
Incredible live performance!
filthy tone we got on that bass from pierce here
Why is that Viceroy the best song of the decade?
It's strange to see a mustang being played so gently compared to it looking like its going to fall apart in Cobains hands
Go Mac - you deserve all the fun, you're such a great character and very talented and down to earthizzle

Guitars make me think of the Smiths sometimes...
+nono both use lotsa chorus
+Daniel Burns That is obvious but i think there is similarities in melody.
They also both feature a lot of "jangly" chords, with higher fretted and open strings mixed in.
the smiths has a great influence on him, he even talked about a Morrissey concert in one of his interviews
