my wife will wake me if Baxter is barfing. over many years i've stressed that this is a normal function over which he has no control. not to mistreat him or alarm him for a natural part of his life. i have my "computer room" where i game and do my Guy things. if he barfs, it's usually near my doorway. a "safe to barf zone'. what a cat!
I groom my Burmese cat nearly every day. Since starting this, there is hardly any loose cat hair around the house and she no longer yaks up hair balls. There is a low cost brush with metal bristles and a push button for releasing the hair. Amazon has them. Plus. Grooming makes a cat look sharp.
Here it is April 29th in Iowa and my cat still has not shed his winter coat because it's been in the '40s at night.
I knew we were going to have a bad winter because he started putting on winter coat late JULY and beginning of August last year. So I can pretty much tell what kind of winter we're going to have and what kind of spring and summer by how early or late he sheds or puts on coat. He's part Maine Coon so he's double coated.

My husband noticed that our male cat has thin spots on his belly. It is spring here . I don’t really think he is overgrooming himself because I don’t see him doing that and I don’t see him ever scratching . After looking him over, it appears that all of his hair is thinner. It is weird that I don’t see any change in my other cat’s coat . Wouldn’t the warm weather outside make my other cat lose fur too ?
Regardless of how many times I brush my Tia, she's always pukes up a hairball, it's distressing.
