Thanks, my parent won't let me keep a kitty in my house because they say that it will be shedding. I am preparing to show this to them, i hope this will work. I will sell my soul for just one cat.
My cat is a 27 year old longhair manx with a beautiful long 2 and a half inch blue and white coat. I have been brushing her everyday with a bamboo furbuster but she sheds all year and even with me brushing her everyday and giving her a bath every month, she still sheds like crazy. She sleeps on my chest every night and when i wake up in the morning there is fur all over me. If I pet her the fur flies off and no matter how much i brush her she continues to shed. I at one point brushed her 6 times in one day and she still continued to shed. She has no patches her fur is just extremely thick. Do you have any advice for what i could do to limit her shedding? Id hate to give her a lion cut but i feel like its all i can do

I thought that wet Cat Food can cause Tooth Decay? Also, my Kitten always puts her Paw in her Water Dish and drinks the Water from her Paw. I have had many Cats before, but I never seen any of them do this.
Many thanks for all your previous videos Dr. Jones, I am a great fan. I do have a question that's been annoying me a while and I have not made progress. My mother has 3 adult spayed& neutered cats that all behave very well together and are very friendly. However, I introduced an adult spayed female a few months ago that used to be feral. Two of the other 3 have been massively aggressive and attacking towards her and things have not settled down. She is terrified of them even though she is physically stronger. I really don't know what to do at this stage as she should be fending off much smaller cats than her. I don't like seeing her bullied like this. What do you think?
Good question-Separate their resources. Reduce competition between the cats by providing multiple, identical food bowls, beds and litter boxes in different areas of your house.Provide additional perches. More hiding spots and perches will allow your cats to space themselves out as they prefer.Try pheromones. You can purchase a product that mimics a natural cat odor (which humans can’t smell), that may reduce tensions. Use a diffuser while the aggression issue is being resolved.
Ok great, I need to give that a go. I don't think it comes down to resources as such as they all have their feeding and sleeping spots, (and my mother spoils them with treats so much). My mother is retired and at home so the cats are her life. The other 3 cats are two females and a male, the male being completely passive and just a bundle of love. The other two females are very tolerant and affectionate towards each other but it seems they are jealous towards this new female. So I need to try pheromones you think. I'll definitely give that a go to try calm them. I need to look online about them. Thanks so much for great advice Dr. Jones, I'll let you know how it goes!! Thanks :)
@@denisedaly2307 hi! I know you commented this 3 years ago but I’m just seeing it now and I have the same problem with a car that I brought into my home with my two others. She used to be feral as well and is always getting bullied by my other cats. All their food and beds etc are separate but I am wondering if the pheromones worked for you? Or if you have any other advice
I do all those things except the Omega-3 supplements. I suspect that the problem with cat shedding that I have is because I live in the desert in southern Arizona. The air is so dry, people and animals alike have a harder time with dry skin. I have an orange tabby like the cat in the video and my orange boy sheds so much.
What canned food do you suggest? I feed mine only hill’s science diet, healthy weight. I have the hartz fur fetcher for de shedding, is the furminator better?
Hi I'm a new to your videos and advice & don't know if you've already covered the issue I need advice with . My 12 1/2 year old cat Pebbles has never had kittens and she's a very vocal needy puss cat . Through a spinal injury Iv had to take early retirement so luckily for Pebbles she's got me 24/7 which she loves . However she has always been a bit nervous . I have another cat and have been feeding several strays for 5 years plus . So there's nothing that's different or anything new as a potential threat to arrive in her life . Last year she started over grooIng herself till her hind legs were almost bald . A trip to our vets showed no underlying illness . A steroid injection seemed to sort her out and regrowth began . However exactly a year later she's over grooming with vengeance . Iv seen her yanking clumps of fur out with her teeth . Which in turn she's being sick bringing up fur balls almost every 1-2 days . Another steroid injection was given by the same vet 6 wks ago . This time so far it's had no effect on her problem which seems to be worse if anything . I'm desperate to help her out of this bad habit cycle . She has an excellent diet of wet cat foods dry foods fresh water constantly and fresh chicken . She has no joint issues cause she still rips riot up down the stairs up walls on high furniture i:e cabin beds wardrobes with one easy leap . She's access to the outside when ever she likes too. This nightly play is something she's always done . She loves me to just watch whilst she bombs up 13 stairs a lap round the bedroom back down stairs skids the full length of the kitchen then back up the stairs to repeat it all. She looks at me as if to ask aren't I fast mom watch me watch me. Iv also been using 2 fellaway plug ins for the last 6-7 months or so . Basically i suppose I'm asking what else could be the answer to end this cycle of over grooming . I'm scared someone will think she's a stray and also I'm worried she will be freezing cold when she goes out with her little bald hind legs looking like little chicken wings bless her . I find it distressing to watch when she's yanking chunks of fur out . Iv tried to distract her but she just hides and continues. I know cats usually do this sort of thing on the sly when no one sees. She's not bothered on who sees her . She will converse with myself ,1 of my 2 daughters or my husband for hours so has so much interaction too . So where am I failing / how can I help her without more visits to the vets . Unless you advise the vets is a must . Thankyou desperate animal lover
What food is high quality? My store only sells Friskies and Blue Buffalo and Fancy Feast? I understand you may not want to endorse any cat food but can you give a hint? and where to buy?
Thank you very much for this video, for hair loss I use a natural supplement from the Crocx brand. My cat loses much less hair, his hair and skin are also healthier. Rich in omega 3 and 6, vitamins and minerals I recommend.

Hi,Thank you for your video. I make a wipe for my elderly dog and it has a tiny amount of fragrance free organic castile soap formulated for babies. Would that be safe to use for my cat baths?
@@angrycod_yt9427 I started giving her salmon oil a week ago but not seeing a difference yet. Definitely not ringworm or hyperthyroid. Doesn’t have fleas. I’ll get back to you if I find out anything else.
My cat sheds like you would not beleive and he was really thick haird when I pulled him from streets he is not long hair but he sheds like his hair is having trillions of hair babies it has always been this way you can brush him day nite it is never ending he loves it too I'm sick of it
My cat sheds really bad. Problem is he is hooked on a quality dry food and when I give him wet no matter what brand he will not eat it. He also has 1000mg of epa and dha combined. He has a bad sneeze and asthma. He has been to the vet twice they say all his blood and urine test are good. They did give him a corticosteroid but it did not help any at all so we discontinued it. I also have him on l-lysine. Do you have any other ideas that I can try the vet seems to be stumped and basically given up. Also any tips on how to switch him to wet food
Primary problem seems to be the asthma, and sneezing. If the steroid did not help, then more likely flu virus as the problem. Stay on the lysine, consider oral honey
Good advice like your perspective and take on things just more thoughtful thinking. I'm sure there's more advice depending on the climate you are in with less humidity vs having humidity.
Thank you for for the information, I will try the home made wipes as I have been trying with the diet for a while now. Once my daughter g gave our cat a cuddle and ended up with a full cat fur beard.
Awesome information! 😍 Can we use our type fish oil, like the one I should be taking? 🤔 how can I easily remove mats that are very close to the skin? I got a 6 year old male kitty from this young woman yesterday and found a few mats on him after he came out from hiding and actually let me pet him. I'd hate to have to have them shaved. He is a very skiddish, like nervous or scared. When arriving yesterday he ran and hid but only for about half an hour seems he will run and hide when I get up and move around too. I began calling his given name and he showed up and it seems he has warmed up to me really fast 😃 I started to pet him on his head and he was rubbing his head all over my hand pushing his head hard into my hand lol I can tell he loves attention. Sadly he was very unkempt beautiful boy with medium fur that looks like he needs a bath and his nails are catching on everything ☹ I don't want to traumatize him any further, with his new environment here now and I'll be moving in less than 10 days so he'll be moved around again ☹ this I didn't expect he was a rescue of sorts that needed to get out of where he was quickly, from what I understood much too noisy and 4 little hands grabbing at him and 4 little feet chasing him around. He needed some rest some quiet so I took him in... I do plan on taking him to a local Veterinarian I would have just used his own seeing I have some of his records the paperwork says last shots were dated 2016. He is from a different city so im setting up an appointment here in town any advice in the meantime would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I've been hoping for this video for ages so thank you :) I had two questions. 1. One of my cats is a rag doll and seriously sheds so much. I was told by the breeder not to use a de-shedding brush because it will wreck his coat. Is that true? because a de-shedding brush is so much more effective and id love to use one. 2. He prefers canned tuna to cat food. (he's pretty fussy...will eat half a can of cat food and has one super expensive type of kibble he likes) is it ok to feed him can tuna? or not really? thanks again!
Sheldyn _x I have a ragdoll & just use a boar bristle brush to smooth out his fur & distribute the oils. He feels like silk & LOVES it! Another little trick for reducing knots & keeping it fur smooth is to rub a tiny amount of coconut or olive oil into your hands then pet your cat. I always start in the sections that are dryer or get knotted then work down towards the skin & finish with the boar brushing. He almost never gets tangled fur. I also heard (but don’t know if it’s true) that giving tuna in oil is bad for the cat & to give them tuna in water instead.
I have many cats in our house, they have same diet. But why is it that they differ in shedding reaction? Some don't shed that much, while some shed so much? Why is it so doc?

We got read of flease so far. Pls help. Love your chanel.

Nick. Charaz. Please don’t let him suffer anymore. If you can’t report them for negligence then PLEASE Leave food (dry is cheap and better than nothing) and clean water out for him everyday, place a cardboard box out for him in a semi private/shaded place that he can get to and sleep in. You may be the difference between him living and dying. Please don’t leave him solely in their care, he’s already wasting away. 😿

I love the new haircut---looks great!
:-)
Thanks, my parent won't let me keep a kitty in my house because they say that it will be shedding. I am preparing to show this to them, i hope this will work. I will sell my soul for just one cat.
I know what i'm typing. Good luck! 👍🏻
You can keep it in your room only, that can be a good idea.
Me too, I really want a cat
This video started like a friends episode
I'll try these things good advice.
If you have it, could you post a link for the deshedding tool? Really love and appreciate your videos! Thank you!!
Thank you. I would also like to know where to get the tool as well.
I can’t help but think the cat would like to clean themselves with their hair tasting like peppermint.
Thanks for this!! Just curious if you ever got a kitty or a dog yet? keep up with these great videos!!
Thanks - not yet
i have a feeling the "right" one for you is coming....and soon!! :)

Wonderful info! 🐈 what type/brand hair brush would you recommend for a cat?
Hi, I like Instinct - furminator appears to be better
Use Royal canin hair and skin care
Are all vets good looking or is it just him ?
lol...😍
Did you get answers to this?
What food is high quality? My store only sells Friskies and Blue Buffalo and Fancy Feast? I understand you may not want to endorse any cat food but can you give a hint? and where to buy?
Monte Lee My P.O.V Blue Buffalo is a good brand
Hello
What’s the best can food you recommend?
Thank you very much for this video, for hair loss I use a natural supplement from the Crocx brand.
My cat loses much less hair, his hair and skin are also healthier. Rich in omega 3 and 6, vitamins and minerals I recommend.
Love that hair brush!😳
What brush is it
Thanks for this mate I'm gonna give it a go few things I need to do brush less Biscuits probably more protein and probably get some omega 3 hoping for a good result
I'd remove the wet food out from the can onto a proper bowl before feeding the cat....those cans are sharp & could seriously hurt the cut while eating
Hi,Thank you for your video. I make a wipe for my elderly dog and it has a tiny amount of fragrance free organic castile soap formulated for babies. Would that be safe to use for my cat baths?
My cat licks her fur until she has bald spots what supplements would she possibly need to help her?
Hi, I have the same issue with my cat. If you find some answers, please let me know. Thank you!

What is the can brand? Is one can enough per day?
Peppermint for cat skin issues? Who knew? Thanks.
You're welcome, Kate!
I thought peppermint essential oils toxic to cats
My cat sheds like you would not beleive and he was really thick haird when I pulled him from streets he is not long hair but he sheds like his hair is having trillions of hair babies it has always been this way you can brush him day nite it is never ending he loves it too I'm sick of it
My cat sheds hair so much .. it falls in pieces .. I'm so concerned about it . .. so is there any solution for this problem
Thanks in advance
I have the same problem that's why I'm watching this video
Probably consider taking it to the SPCS
SPCA*
Sounds like this vet needs sleep.
:-)
He said just normal things dear
lol
Haha XD
Maybe he is losing sleep over all the fur his cat is shedding 😆
I heard those brushes will never stop pulling hair cut they are cutting the hair.
Tho idk if thats true.
Thank you I needed this!
You’re welcome!

Good advice like your perspective and take on things just more thoughtful thinking.
I'm sure there's more advice depending on the climate you are in with less humidity vs having humidity.
Thank you and yes, that's a good point.
Did you notice the spirit orbs in your video?
Dr Jones, is walnut oil safe to use for cats please?
Nope
Thank you for for the information, I will try the home made wipes as I have been trying with the diet for a while now. Once my daughter g gave our cat a cuddle and ended up with a full cat fur beard.
Welcome
He is from a different city so im setting up an appointment here in town any advice in the meantime would be greatly appreciated 🙏
you have to cut off the matted fur. mats are painful for the cat. the fur grows back. you have to brush that cat regularly.
I love cats but i hate cat hair on my clothes so i can't get one, it's like being on a diet but living next to a pizza hut.
When I leave the house for a weekend, I come home to so much cat hair😵💫 seems as though he sheds more when he’s stressed
Yes, generally for most cats
My cat doesn’t shed. I still don’t know what kind she is. She is dark grey, big green eyes, medium length fur and is very calm. Doesn’t even mind me giving her a bath. Anyone know/or can try to guess what kind of cat she is?
I wish I knew because she sounds beautiful! Could she be a Russian blue?

Hi dr, i’ve been thinking of switching my cat’s diet to a raw meat diet, what are your opinions about this diet is it a good idea?
It's a good idea
Hello , i tried everything for my cat she shed hair every day , she only likes the fish cat food and we always gave her gourmet fish with shrimp, i tried her 3 weeks ago with whiskers fish with jelly food the 1+ year old and her coat has gone nice and shiny and soft and her hairs have stopped falling out. Only took 3 weeks iam so happy i can stroke her more now. I always buy the whiskers food now
Adding fish oil works quite fast honestly
This cat is so cute !
Which comb was that?
I've been hoping for this video for ages so thank you :) I had two questions.
1. One of my cats is a rag doll and seriously sheds so much. I was told by the breeder not to use a de-shedding brush because it will wreck his coat. Is that true? because a de-shedding brush is so much more effective and id love to use one.
2. He prefers canned tuna to cat food. (he's pretty fussy...will eat half a can of cat food and has one super expensive type of kibble he likes) is it ok to feed him can tuna? or not really?
thanks again!
I had many clients use them and see them be far more effective- I would suggest that
Sheldyn _x I have a ragdoll & just use a boar bristle brush to smooth out his fur & distribute the oils.
Sheldyn _x I’ve heard canned tuna is DEFINITELY not good. I think there’s like mercury (???) idk or so I’ve heard. Look up on google
Dear Tuna food is not good and I will suggest use Royal canin hair and skin and also I will recommend to use My beau supplements
I have many cats in our house, they have same diet. But why is it that they differ in shedding reaction? Some don't shed that much, while some shed so much? Why is it so doc?

My question is: i moved in house that were fleas. My cats got big infestation. But ine of my cats is pulling her fur of and making her self bleed. Can you please tell me what i can use to make her stop muttilating her self? I do put antibiotic ointment but with no avail. Are human cortisone ointments ok to use on my cat? We got read of flease so far. Pls help. Love your chanel.
There is Spray Beaphar Flea and tick away use that
I heard that flea eggs can live in the carpet and go into stasis until and animal comes around and the eggs hatch into fleas. I would rip those carpets up or figure out how to get rid of the eggs 1st.
Poor baby :( hope she feels better
@@cleox1215 just spray Beaphar Tick Away spray it's really work and u dont need to throw carpets
Would more wet food have the same effect on dogs and shedding?
A neighbours cat always hangs in my garden I usual pet it and interact with him but he’s coat is shedding like crazy his head barely has any hair and I can see and feel his bones, the cat barely gets let back in the house I feel so sorry for it
Nick If the cat is being neglected call the non emergency line or if you can take care of it, try asking the owners if you can take the cat
JUST TAKE THE CAT. THEY OBVIOUSLY DONT GIVE A DAM ABOUT IT.
Nick. 😿
What's your opinion about feeding cats fresh boiled meat instead of canned food?
