  • Hi everyone,
it's been a while! Although I've recorded several songs over the months of summer, I somehow didn't come by uploading it yet. But now the time has come for this little treasure!
Speeding Cars is a song, that was refined and developed by the band Walking On Cars over the years of their musical activity. I don't exactly know how it started, but the version on their album "Everything This Way" is pretty self-consistent like few songs being played on the radio nowadays. That's why I took to it quickly.
The lyrics are about one essential question: Imagine you're in a "final" situation like immediate danger to be killed. How would you face crucial decisions in your life? Would you reconsider? Change or revoke previous decisions? Or would you abide by the choices you made?
The song implies associations about adultery. As a less abstract approach to the question mentioned above: If you'd get hit by a car any moment, would you decide to leave your partner and choose me instead? The singer (the lyrical first person) deeply longs for this to happen. But the Chorus states, that nothing will change, while everyone just sings "heya heya heya", being an expression of avoiding hard decisions by staying as superficial and casual as possible. There is also the hint of uncertainty and anxiety about what is and what isn't. Truely intriguing topic!
There is a lot more I could say now, but I'll leave the rest to you. Take a little time and try to answer the questions posed above for yourself if you want to.
And now have fun listening to the song!
