How to fix this Outlook Calendar error message: One or more items in the folder you synchronized

How to eliminate the Outlook Calendar error message, "One or more items in the file you synchronized do not match. To resolve the conflicts open the items, and then try this operation again."
I had this issue at work, and even following the directions did not work, and the event in question was locked from any sort of modification

agreed!...i was getting so frustrated trying to modify my events -- and i've noticed i've been receiving weird invites too (where there are like multiple attachments of the event within the event)...i'm thinking it's a pretty widespread issue that's popping up. Maybe an update error or something
