This show left so much good stuff out it disappointed me. Like, the lore is even greater in novels and manga. Also, have you considered doing an "Everything Great about Arcane"? I know it´s not technically an anime, but....
Now I never finished this LN/WN that I was reading... but literally the anime stops as it fully takes off into crazy lore land. Without details I can say that the fill in of the years between vampling child just getting outa her town to the version of "current" battle freak vamp badass is amazing and learning the history of our oni-chan is even more brilliant as it is 210% clear that the character dynamic of Spider-chan and friends is god tier. Not to even mention that this endless stream of ever deepening mystery just repeatedly blows your mind. S1=the side of the visible part of the Iceberg you can look at... there are literally too many twists and plot routes that I can't spoil you since everything I currently know could in fact be false and I would not know. There is no series equal to this one depth wise and I will fight people on that. No exaggeration or gas lighting. Cold hard fact.
I absolutely love those scenes where we get to see her from someone else's pov, n remember/realise she only looks cute to herself. To everyone else, she's still a bloody terrifying spider monster. Once you keep that in the back of your mind, every scene where she interacts with people, is just so much better
not only that but her personality we see what she's thinking and the only time others do is when she's plastered any other time she's extremely reserved.
It's especially hilarious when she's acting really weird. Like when she was rolling over and over out of envy at Sophia being born as a vampire with attractive rich loving parents and a ton of skill points, while she was born as a frankly hideous spider monster surrounded by cannibalistic siblings and a mother who alternates between completely absent and homicidally hungry. She's just seeing herself having a cute tantrum over the sheer unfairness, and everybody else sees this terrifying spider they're not entirely sure will even refrain from eating them after saving them having what appears to be an epileptic seizure.
This was a weirdly good show. Like sure some directing choices weren’t my favorite and I had to get used to the cgi but overall I had something to look forward to for 24 weeks
It's just not a good adaptation , the actual light novel is really good . But if their adaptation was better its a really great isekai . The good thing about the adaptation is the voice acting .
@@morving7714 actually they not left too many scenes from the LN-s, but there is some changes through the adaptation (Julius party backstory scenes, and Shun's party lefting the kingdom) ,i liked so far, i think next time they not made the same production mistakes (handing over the cgi is khm not a good choice). Atleast they delayed the last episode with a week and get us a good bonus ending song from Yuuki :D
@@morving7714 After reading vol 13, I really wonder where the author is going to go with "the Escape from the kingdom" if the anime continues. Not sure how they would handle that reveal since the anime cut that entire scene. I just remembered that Leston said he was staying in the Kingdom in the anime so perhaps that scene will be added as a flashback in a Season 3 I would guess.
The kid needing medical treatment is a little bit more disturbing in the novel She basically cuts open the kid then starts pulling out diseased organs and using her magic to regrow new ones
@@runtergerutscht4401 im very sure she didn't but the child at least APEARED to be unconcius so he wasn't feeling everything that happened, or so i say because that will be even more disturbing to imagine the scene in my mind
Wasn't sure if you figured out the time element, but all the class got reincarnated at the same time. Our main gal reincarnated as a spider and so her story and evolution all happened in a short time frame. All the other class had to grow through normal aging processes and so by the time they're reacting to our gal's past it had already been 10+ years. That's why they find her taratects in the cave where mother was (after she reincarnated with egg skill) and why seemingly the demon lord changes personality between the past and present. I really loved the time element of this show, was super super awesome
After white's true identity is revealed in the light novel (the end of the anime), the light novels then steer focus to white and how she got to that point.
it was in vol 4 of the novel, when D talk to kumo-chan for the second time, that it was reveal that it was about 6 months that everyone was reborn seting the time line for the 2 story and that D was only watching her because everyone else was still a baby.
Well, not the exact same time. The MC and other monster reincarnated were a few years after the human characters. In fact dragon girl was that egg she was going to eat at the beginning of the series. The one the adventurers ran off with. That's why Dragon girl suddenly had the taboo skill after they fought that dragon in the labyrinth, it's her birth relative.
@@originalShorai the impression I got was they all reincarnated at the same time. Just their gestation times were different. -spider - laying egg to hatching 6 months. -human - conception to birth 9 months -dragon - laying egg to hatching few years So while the humans were baby’s in diapers, Kumoko was already fighting to say alive. That’s why by the time they meet(Kumoko and classmates) she is so much more powerful then them. She’s had 15 YEARS of leveling up and gaining skills while the humans have only been doing it a year or so.
For anyone who liked the anime I *strongly* recommend reading the novels, it's one of the best stories you'll gonna read, the first act covered by the anime is only an appetizer compared to acts 2 and 3. The anime unfortunately skipped quite a bit of stuff to pretty much finish of the 1st act within 24 episodes and I *dearly* hope they don't do the story dirty like that in potential future seasons.
After this anime I bought and binge read all 12 volume's and now I read 13th volume. I agree that this story is godlike. Animator's better do this story justice.......... All in all this anime convinced me to start buying LN and after volume 13(this volume is basically one giant teasy) I'll start reading Rimuru's adventure..... Buying LN is one of better decision I made, much better than sinking my money in Loot boxes, mobile game's or NFT's that game publisher's want to push down our throat's
Agreed. Read the Light Novels, skip the Manga (it leaves out the human side and most of the lore), and possibly follow up with the Web Novel (which is more of a first draft which diverges in the second half of the story)
There two time periods was so expertly crafted that when you look back you smack your face at the obvious hints. It was Sophia the Vampire being in both periods that made me realize what was up but then when D revealed the backstory of why everyone reincarnated everything clicked into place. You do have to wonder how powerful Kumoko got in-between the team up with the Demon Lord Ariel and their assault on the elf village. Seeing as Sophia was still a helpless baby I suspect Kumoko living in the Labyrinth was like only 6 months to a year of power leveling, just imagine how much more skills she gained in the 15 or so years and you have one op spider girl.
Well archane is the end of her evolution tree and she isnt connected to mother and ariel anymore, so she cant start another soul-eating-skill-stealing attack, which means the only real way to improofe is by leveling up levels and skills (which takes extremely long the higher your level, pride and her natural affinity compensated that for a while but now ...) and improofing your technique, all of which takes a long time. So there arent any real shortcuts left for her to abuse the system mechanics, she already became the strongest individual after ariel (if you dont count administrators) within a year or two
@@juergenkern6763 I guess the only way up is becoming a demi-god of some kind, cause there must be some way. D does seem to have a particular "fondness" for our lil' spider being made a champion so she might tell Kumoko how to, or at least point her in the right direction.
Actually Shun sticking around and fighting even when hopelessly outmatched is a satiric take on that common anime trope. Trying to do that seriously is going to be a short trip into a shallow grave. Shun is meant to be a caricature of a stock Shounen Isekai Hero. He’s young, he’s hardworking and talented, he inspires people, everyone who isn’t an amoral asshole loves him, he’s completely oblivious to the feelings people have for him and he embodies all those flowery ideals of never giving up, the power of friendship and overall being a hero. But he’s not in that sort of story. He’s almost frustratingly naive, compared to his enemies he’s laughably weak and unskilled, said enemies understand what’s going on far better than he does, he drags his friends into his unwinnable fights and gets them hurt trying to help him because he’s too proud to back down, the power of friendship is a bad joke that won’t bridge the gap in power at all, and his heroics only serve to cause more issues by virtue of his ignorant behaviour. This sort of story favours a pragmatic mindset over a virtuous one. Where circumstances do not construe to enable an idealistic consequence. Also you keep saying plot twist. I don’t think it means what you think it means. A plot development is not the same as a twist.
Some of this is perhaps spoiler, so….. It’s kind of funny, because if Shiraori has one regret in her new life, it’s all of the pain she’s inflicted on Shun. She has effectively wrecked his life when he didn’t do anything to deserve it; he’s just in the wrong place at the wrong time. She’s simply trying to get him off the playing field and away from danger, yet Shun’s actions so often derail her meticulous plans. What makes matters worse is her subordinates, particularly Sophia and Hugo, disobeying her explicit orders is what drives Shun away from safety and into wrecking her plans. It’s actually one of the things I really dislike about Sophia - while Shiraori regrets the pain she causes Shun, Sophia relishes in it.
Shun has the Hero title, and if you know what titles do then he is pretty much being forced to be an anime protagonist. Titles screw with your soul and warp your mind, twisting your being to fill the trope. Kumoko picked up...heresy nullification? Something, I can't remember. Anyway, she wasn't as badly affected because she picked up a skill/title that made her immune to being warped by titles. Sophia and Hugo picked up a ton of titles early too, so they were mutated early on into becoming terrible people. It's one of the very few things I find iffy with the magic system. All the powerful and important people have titles, so all of their moral failings, poor judgement, character flaws are all protected under plot armour. Although, at the same time I also find it interesting too. Becoming powerful actually changes you, so you need to be super self aware at all times, lest you become something horrible or someone you despise.
@@thechh8297 you realize Sophia was raised in part by Kumoko, right? Hugo was the way he was because he was a narcissist, which was eluded too in his previous life.
@@akildas Actually everone was pretty surprised when Hugo turned out to be an arrogant prick. When he was in the other world he was quite tame, an extrovert bordering on being a bully, but not a homicidal maniac. Sophia was 16 when Kumoko found her. She wasn't an ACTUAL infant. She wasn't raised to be a menace. Sophia was pissed when her new parents were murdered, because she had just grown attached to them. Kumoko grinded Sophia into having loads of skills, and she picked up Envy when she was a toddler, but Kumoko warned her to never ever use it. Long story short Sophia used Envy, and it is heavily described that Sophia went sideways instantly, with Kumoko picking up on her change of personality immediately.
I remembered back in the days when the anime didn't even aired yet and me and a friend of mine started theorizing about the timelines and who each of the classmates were, even making a list of our own in order to pinpoint who the spider could be. It felt amazing to figure out the diferent timelines before the manga told us, even better because the manga doesn't show the heroe's part at all!
Personally, I like the manga version because of the art. But I would say getting spoiled by the anime when the manga wasn't even finished yet is quite annoying. And surprise surprise, I also just starting to read the light novel and discovered that the manga is the one that doesn't follow the timeline. It's an interesting story. Start reading this manga after tensura season 1 and I would say that I really love mc isn't human story. My comment kinda off topic in a lot of ways but I love this story so much! Just kinda disappointed in the animation when fighting in the anime... but still, I wanna know what happen so I will continue reading the light novel
@@SISYPHEAN44 the anime ends at vol 5 but i really do recommend starting from the beginning as some parts might not make sense otherwise youd also be missing out on some epic kumoko monologues
@@RenderingUser Ye no, i did read its manga and a bit of the LN at the starting but stopped reading after a while for some reason. And since i get bored easily like really easily i prefer to start from where i left off lol. But, tytytytytytytyty that will be very helpful.
@@SISYPHEAN44 there's a cliffhanger at the end of vol 5 tho read that volume a bit atleast i kinda hate how little they showed of merazophis tho he was one of my favorite characters
Something they skipped in the anime is that Shun's other brother got captured and the group went to rescure him. But he was beheaded alongside Katja's parents right before their eyes. And then Shun used the same OP skill he used to revive Katja after her (by the way successful) suicide attempt to reattach their heads. And he got his Taboo bumped up considerably by doing so. All the reincarnations got conceived in this world at the same time. But unlike the Humans who went through the 9 month of pregnancy, Kumoko hatched really quickly. The Shuun story-line kicks off when he's 15 if I remember correctly. So at the start of the anime the story lines are about 15 years apart. But Kumokos story-line moves along faster, so at the end of the anime, when Kumoko gets her new body they are some 12 to 13ish years apart. And yes that means that when she evolved into this half-spider half-human monster she's just a little over two years old.
This is great timing. The Web novel finally finished up recently and I have to say, there are plot twists right to the very end. Its incredible that the author managed to wrap all of these crazy timelines into a coherent story. This author is god-like.
If im remembering right, I think i kinda figured it out with the different time jumps and such when it mentioned Julius's scarf was made from a special spider silk and was given to him as a child, so thats when I connected the dots that she was like, reincarnated before the others and that the time line following her and following the human cast were different jumps in the story/ time
She wasn't really reincarnated earlier. She was reincarnated at the same time as the others, but since she's a spider she was able to act pretty much right after she was born while everyone else was stuck as helpless babies.
@@Gamer-g2v1r There is that, but there's also that spiders have less development time. She was hatched before the others were even born because of that - which is also why Fei remained in an egg while Kumoko was running about the labyrinth, dragons have very long development times so by the time she hatched, Shun was already old enough to be given her as a pet.
All of their souls went over at the same time, since they died in the same explosion and were all transported at the same time by D. Regardless of whenever they were born/hatched they entered the world at the same time.
Ill be honest the story of kumo is amazing (honestly my no 1 out of all the ln, animes and manga i have seen) the anime is a disaster tho... main reason being (im not sure about the full story but) the studio that was in charge of the 3d animation ( i think it was the one that did the bad beserk) dropped out or refused to continue the production half wayish thorught the making of the show leaving the other studio in charge of the rest of the work. story wise it gets a 8/10 when compared to the ln just because of some changes that i feel like they mess with the pacing but kumokos vc was absolutly amazing for this and basicly ran the show :) and like i always say on anything about kumo please read or listen to the ln to get an extra few layers of story including some missed scenes and extra chapters that are like extra stories love yall and have a good night
This comment needs to be on the top. Everyone shall know this Part of the Reason why the CGI is that bad (and it isn't even THAT bad). Also the people making all of this literally worked themselves to death because of the extra work they had to do. Let's take a minute to appreciate all their work!
Really is unfortunate what happened, the poor studio had to rush out so much poor cgi just to ensure the episodes could come out on time because their partners fucked up. I'm glad they were able to delay the last episode for a bit more time so it was able to end on a higher note, but also it hurts thinking about how much stress they were under for all that.
The twist at the end was probably one of my favorite parts. I am so happy that I watched the sub first, because I watched the dub afterwards and it was so obvious that they were the same person.
As somebody who read the novel so many times I basically have it memorized before the Anime even got announced, it's nice being able to see a big highlights of what they anime did well and seeing a noob to the series's reactions.
the way the scenes were assembled was to show both kumoko's growth as well as the rest of her classmates'. it's only when they introduced a few story elements (the scarf, the dragon egg, the wall's breach) that you start noticing something's not right and the timelines may actually be separated. i'm so glad it didn't take a season 2 to understand all this, as opposed to re:zero, and i can't wait to see season 2 (hopefully for late 2022)
*DUDE i absolutely adored this entire video, this is one of my favourite animes of all time- and it clearly shows through your videos how much passion you have for anime, I love it.*
you still missed one of the big plot twists, FROM season 1 they were setting her up as the demon lord. "i've fought a earth dragon" kills the earth dragon in s1. her spider themed clothing (the "Tails" of har garb) and abilities (the spider silk), so when the demon lord showed up to blast her away in the ocean it was a big moment for me. then watching "Body" attack the demon lords mind and "fuse" their personalities a bit (talked about during the show, not in your clips though) i though she might take over the demon lord as a host, especially after the big fight that reincarnated her in the egg. then when she got the humanoid body and such you saw that they were going to be different people AND that she was working with the demon lord/ possibly puppet the DL, it made things more interesting and still super satisfying with her teaming up with the DL in the end.
I think the thing about the daylight and her vs daylight and the rest was that we have seen her only in the dark dank underworld so suddenly having her in a completely different environment made me just do a double-check and go "Oh yeah, she hasn't been outside before!". Comparatively the others have been outside from day 1 so seeing them in a more natural environment is not a shock to the system. When they were in the labyrinth my brain was telling me "Wait this is her domain not theirs, they should be outside it is where they belong" which really added to the unnerving feeling.
I think it’s important to mention that this anime was very hard to produce as they lost a ton of their work and the last episode was even delayed a week because of it
the first time i watched this anime was when it was being released and i noticed the animation so i only watched it if i had nothing else to watch but the story is actually good so if it had more budget it would be SO damn good
little fact about the scene in which she heals the boy and his mother: in the light novel she made them unconcious and cutting out their organs which she healed than afterwards back
I think most people figured out what was going on with the two seperate plots once the silk scarf was revealed, along with the explanation that the dragon egg was also found there. It's the first time the two stories link through an item (that being the scarf) and it solves all the questions.
also the fact the teacher only called for help from head elf guy after one of her kids died (you can see one of the names is crossed off) was a really nice touch I think
ONI-KUN!!! MY BOI!!! MY CHILD!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH (I’m so glad KumoDesu’s anime is getting a season 2 eventually, we waited so long for season one to come out for it to just end there)
I didn't figure out the timeline plot twist until after we saw Julius square off with the Demon lord and Wakaba spider. I knew there were multiple different timelines, but I didnt realize that they were still not even close to merging. Wakaba spider had her own timeline. The human heros had their own timeline. Then Wakaba Human had her short glimpses thrown in every once in a while. I didn't even know that Wakaba Human was Wakaba Spider until she evolved that last time to have the human torso. When done correctly and done well, separate timelines all merging into one can throw off the solving of mysteries for a long time and it is so enjoyable when we finally see the whole map of what was done. This anime did it pretty well.
After realizing who everyone was at the end and connecting the time periods together, I rewatched it from episode 1 and i must say it was a much better experience finally understanding who person A is and why X area looks like this. The writing is amazing and I'm definitely gonna read the light novel
@@amarojulian7409 if you've only watched it once I suggest watching it from start to finish again! If you've watched it twice (or dont feel like watching again) just reply again and I'll explain how the timeline works !
@@amarojulian7409 no problem! Basically when Kumoko (MC) is a spider everyone else that reincarnated is a baby! Since human type babies are generally weak and cant do anything themselves, their progression is greatly slowed! (This includes the vampire girl Sophia) Essentially the time jumps between (I think) 15* years ago and present day! 15 years ago being when Kumoko starts her journey and levels up and eventually leaves the cave! And present day being when she's gained a full human form with her eyes closed! For the other reincarnations, present day is when they're all in school and stuff with the 15 years being when they're all babies. This means it took Kumoko a few weeks/months to exit the labyrinth as we can see when she's protecting Sohpia, Sophia is still a baby When they enter the labyrinth and told about the Nightmare of the labyrinth that's Kumoko that they're talking to, and the vestiges are her body clones that she made with the eggs in case she dies that one time! I think that about explains everything from an anime without spilling any hints from the LN. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)
In the manga unlike the anine, the cancer was actually taken out professionally, by cutting out the sick tissue and following it by regrowth of the cut out tissue. Great video.
One element from the light novels that the anime doesn't fully capture is the mystery of Spider's identity in the future timeline. When you figure out the fact that the humans story is over 10 years after what is going on with Spider a question presents itself... Who is Spider in the future? And the author, for several books, keeps dropping hints that it is the Demon lord. That she has spider powers, her outgoing attitude which mirrors how Spider acts in her mind, she mentions having fought an Earth Dragon before, she shows knowledge of the reincarnations... And all that time there is White, standing loyally behind her back, silent as the grave. PS: I'm a bit sad that I wasn't able to fully immerse myself in the mystery since I read the manga first and was pretty sure Spider couldn't be the Demon lord. But I still appreciated the skill with which the author built up to that plot twist. To my mind. If you want the full experience of trying to untangle the mysteries of the two timelines and all the different factions, the light novels should be your entry into the series.
One of my favorite bits in the light novel is when Administrator D called Kumoko (I think after she had just evolved and D was giving Kumoko the rundown on why everyone died), and during the conversation she finds out that D has Japanese snacks. D even taunts her, saying she has ice cream. So Kumoko says she's going to slap her in the face and steal her ice cream. Also, what wasn't shown in the anime is what Kumoko did to the sick mother and child. Healing magic can't fix things like cancer. Instead, she uses magic to knock them out, then uses her scythe legs to perform pretty graphic surgery to cut out the defective organs, then healing magic to grow new ones. Also also, if they get around to making a season 2, we have drunk Kumoko to look forward to. Turns out, Kumoko is a chatty drunk.
The timeline in this anime is confusing as hell, and I can understand why you were confused. I myself took a while before I understood what's going on. I basically found out when it was revealed that Julius' scarf was made from spider silk. My mind instantly reminded myself that human beings need time to grow, and if they all reincarnate at the same time. Kumoko had 15 years of non stop training and danger while the others were able to live mostly normal lives.
I like how they did timeline tbh, it was different take although the hero take was wayyy less fun, but it was interesting watching the MC power up though 15-19 ep's
And there are still many plot twist that will make your mind get blown away. Hopefully Kadokawa can give this series some better treatments in S2 not only just budget, but schedule and quality. I don't mind which studio name as long as they're doing well.
A little side fact: Shuns scarf is made from kumokos first home that got destroyed by humans. I put the pieces together when I saw baby Vampy and adult Vampy fighting against Shuun .
To explain the timeline a bit more, everything that's main spider girl's perspective is when everyone first got reincarnated and everyone is a baby. 15 years after that is what's happening in the perspective of new hero boi. For example that vampire baby that spider girl is trying to protect is the same vampire that used to be the student nicknamed Spooky.
Hey animewins I just want you to know I use your channel as a personal anime recommendation list I love your videos as its perfect for grtting an idea of the first few episodes. When you released part 1 of spider I binged the entire series in a day and went on to read the web comic, thank you for all the time intensive work you do(black clover mustve taken forever)
Definitely gotta try that LN man. Its so good and the plot just comes together so well and the MC's personality is so darn well communitcated... AHHH. If you do read, start at Volume 1 as the prior chapters have alot of detail and scenes that are not mentioned in the show. Apart from that, if you really want to start where the show ends, then that'll be volume 6. And make sure its the actual LN, if you read online, it may be the WN but I believe the stories differ somehow? Anyhow, definitely good for free time.
Now we just have to wait for the REAL shoe to drop as to what is actually going on. Those skills you love are far more important than you realize just yet. I can't wait for that reaction.
Okina baba is what I would describe as a new generation of light novelist. This light novel approaches damn near perfect. I can't humanly recommend it higher. All the acts have their own unique charm. And yet somehow all mesh together into one fully coherent story.
I can't believe I missed the release of this. Also I think the build-up for the revelation of the end of the world in episode 10 was handled really well through the Taboo skill. It does give some vibe that it's kind of an information that was *_not_* quite supposed to be discovered as it *is* taboo. And it was being built-up and creeping in right from the episode 1.
@@AnimeWins I just watched a video talking about what if gidora was in how to train your dragon. It hot me thinking. I remember thinking that there was like 10 years of difference between Kumoku and the other guys when we first saw the earth dragon egg from kumoko point of view and also in the future when she's born
@@xena19881 also we cant forget guli-guli and dastin (probaly did a typo but it has been some time from when i read the ln+wn) (i wamt to say some more peaple but that would be a major wn spoiler lol)
i started this with the light novels, and the timelines are even more unclear in the beginning. it took like until the 3rd or 4th book until it became clear, but then it was so clear, i felt dumb for not instantly realizing... the overall Lore is really quite good and many things have been told already. like why the elves have those machines, why the world has that skill system and also why the demons and some administrators are against it. but the best part is, that we are also told who Shiroo (our spider-chan was named by Ariel, the demon lord) was before that reincarnation.
i figured out the whole thing of the whole 2 time periods when they said they rescued fei's egg 10 years ago and it was clearly the same egg that kumoko had a few episodes back
As I've said before, this anime did an incredible job of keeping you guessing, including using the tactic of making you _think_ you've realized something, then pulling the rug out from under you.
As someone who read the novels, I'm just gonna say, you were happy and felt relief for the safety of certain characters, your gonna hate that in the future. The only spoiler I'm gonna give is that in the end there is one universally agreed upon bad guy. Everyone else is both in the wrong and in the right when it comes to their goals.
I honestly can’t believe that Kumoko’s VA is the same VA for Rita Rosweisse in Honkai Imapct 3rd - the two voices are so completely different that if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t know. Aoi Yuuki is such an incredibly talented VA.
If you did really love the anime, I'd highly suggest starting the light novels. The story is basically as you said, a total plot twist and turns basically every trope on it's head. ( MAJOR SPOILERS) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I will say the story after this is a bit slower as the parts with shun and the humans then the fight with the elves at the very is end is the main climax of the story. And the novels basically just play catch up to that. Showing how the demon lord and kumoko became friendly, how she became shiro, how she got a full human form, who/what potimas and the elves truly are, the mechs, and a lot more.
I love the fact that each of the reincarnations has a crap ton of skill points to distribute, while White had almost none ^^ 21:15 Is great foreshadowing. Edit: 40:00 I think most Light Novel readers knew, the action further down the line hits much harder. The anime finishes at the end of volume 5 of the novel.
The CGI issues near the end were caused by Rona and struggles to offload works to the usual overseas animators they previously did. And if you check, yes, this is done by the creators of Berserk 2017. They are getting better but alas still getting there. Spider is almost assuredly getting a second season so let's hope they won't have massive scheduling issues in that one.
fun fact in the manga and im presuming the light novel after the mother fight the multiple personalities hold a bonfire dedicated to their hatred of the elves XD
Part of the problem with the animation in the second cour of the season is Millipense got screwed over by the studios that the subcontracted. It was apparently so bad that they had to reanimate many segments from scratch in some cases. I forget which episode it was, but one of the episodes was even postponed a week because it simply wasn’t ready for air. Add the impacts from COVID on top of that and they just had to deal with the ultimate nightmare. So while the animation was not good, it was a miracle it was as good as it looked. The story itself as well as the character development saved it from being a total disaster, not to mention the work done by Aoi Yuuki in voicing Kumoko and Shiraori (White).
@@Gamer-g2v1r There are a few illustrations, just counted and vol 1 has 9 illustrations out of 245 pages. They're novels for sure just usually less words. I'm a slow reader and it only takes me about 10-12 hrs to read one volume. I'm hoping for a season 2, but I can say that the LNs, especially vols 6-10 (I've read those 5 times now), are fantastic. If you are thinking about picking them up one thing to remember is there are some errors in the translations. Like it saying the puppet sider's stats are "over 1,000" in one vol when it's supposed to be "over 10,000". Little things like that. (might be address in the digital, but I only have physical copies)
Shiraori (Kumoko in the form we see her at the end) is #1 Waifu and my opinion will not change. also Aoi Yuki is a top tier VA this means that as some point we'll need a wins-sins for "Ive killed slimes for 300 years and maxed my level" since she voices the main character and sings the opening there too ;)
Loved the review~! This has to be by far one of my favorite animes rihgt now besides made in abyss. Next one you should do is tsukimichi if you like outlandish isekais~!!
The "last minute plot twist" you mentioned at the end has actually been obvious since the end of the previous episode. If you remembered her name, you should have known. Wakaba's human form, called by the fandom as "White" before the reveal that they're one and the same, has the same face as pre-reincarnation (other reincarnations recognised her by first glance), and it's the same face as the form she's taken at the begining of the last episode. (Warning: The rest of the comment contains stuff spoiler-inducing [as in, if you remember the entire show, this info will cause you to get spoiled]) When it comes to names, reincarnations have 2, one of them being their name they got in this world, and the other their pre-reincarnation name.
Took you long enough to figure it out. But it's fine like this. Figuring it out too early honestly dampens the reveal something fierce. Really wish I didn't figure it out by the time we started seeing Wakaba use her evil eye skills for the first time. (though that only confirmed what I suspected since the introduction of the demon lord...) There is such a thing as getting spoilers solely from yourself. It's fun thinking it through, but at the same time, not that great. It's mostly why I insist that my friends withold ANY information related to things I like. Because otherwise I tend to end up figuring out the whole plot on the spot, even off of trivial bits of information. -_-
I know it's very unlikely, But as you've mentioned how it's one of your favorite anime, just curious if you ever thought about doing a video on ore monogatari (My Love Story)? Anyway thanks for introducing me to a ton of new anime over the last couple of years!
honestly despite the labyrinth only being relevant to 2 actual characters, it feels like one of the most important landmarks in this world. Kumoko being associated with the surface is something I have as well
I really like two story play alongside each others and as we going further to the stories everything seems to come together and, this is anime that would never get a second season treatment
Personally I'd give more wins to the scenes of talking about army movement or battle plans. Purely because a lot of isekai's and such with large wars just leave those out or make it super brief
YES, really with some assumptions its clear from the first episode, if their all born then obviously kumikos segment cannot be in the current time since humans dont age that fast also im surprised you didnt get it when the party exited the dungeon, the guy talks about it like the whole incident is ancient history
When I saw the sensei with the students at the banquet I noticed that she was a lot younger looking than the others and that made me realize the elves in this world grow slower so then I wondered about how fast the main character was gonna be growing compared to the other kids and I remembered the dragon egg that she had that the adventures took that was Faye
Alright. To clear up some confusion, and there will be spoilers at the end. Basically, everything that involves Kumoko/Spider-chan/Shiraori while she is a spider is happening in the present/past. Everyone else are basically babies like the vampire. Fie hasn't even hatched yet. When we see the humans in their teenager bodies and Shiraori/Kumoko/Spider-chan in her fully human form, that's happening in the future/present. It's a weird and confusing tale of two different spots on a timeline slowly converging. I prefer the manga's approach to the timeline and just doing it linearly with no skipping back and forth multiple times an episodes. If they HAD to do it like the light novel and do the past/present and future/present timelines at the same time, I would have preferred they stuck with one timeline per episode and alternated, but that's just me complaining. The human empires and the demon empire aren't really the bad guys, they're just lads given bad hands by fate. The religions are sort of bad guys. And the Elves are definitely the bad guys. Here comes the spoilers. The reason the elves are the bad guys is because they basically caused the collapse of the world with their crazy advanced tech that ran on the planet's life energy. Basically, everything is Pontimas' fault, like, literally everything. The correct usage of literally. To heal the collapse, the system was created by D and another god. The system's voice over, the "Word of God".

@@richardkenan2891 tarantrulim
And her tantrum only made it funnier.😂
Oh yeah that is true
Not sure how they would handle that reveal since the anime cut that entire scene. the Light novel is godly though!
The kid needing medical treatment is a little bit more disturbing in the novel
She basically cuts open the kid then starts pulling out diseased organs and using her magic to regrow new ones
Healing doesn't remove status effects, but it can regrow organs. It just makes sense!
Super sad they skipped over that, though
I hope she at least used anasthetics

Wasn't sure if you figured out the time element, but all the class got reincarnated at the same time. Our main gal reincarnated as a spider and so her story and evolution all happened in a short time frame. All the other class had to grow through normal aging processes and so by the time they're reacting to our gal's past it had already been 10+ years. That's why they find her taratects in the cave where mother was (after she reincarnated with egg skill) and why seemingly the demon lord changes personality between the past and present. I really loved the time element of this show, was super super awesome
Yeah, the stories being told at different times can really throw you for a loop, as can many of the twists, but that just makes it easier to rewatch.
-human - conception to birth 9 months
-dragon - laying egg to hatching few years
So while the humans were baby’s in diapers, Kumoko was already fighting to say alive.

@@thechh8297 so I’m the last episode of the anime where baby Sophia , Bulter guy, DL and Kumoko left the mansion Sophia was from, they parted ways?

People: Talk about this show and the plot twists
Light Novel Readers: *dying of laughter*
Let me tell you this as someone who read the novel, there will be so many more plot twists, it's going to get so much better

@@SISYPHEAN44 there's a cliffhanger at the end of vol 5 tho

i kinda hate how little they showed of merazophis tho he was one of my favorite characters
I'm mid ln13. I guess I'll pick up the web novel soon™ if it just finished
Ill be honest the story of kumo is amazing (honestly my no 1 out of all the ln, animes and manga i have seen)
the anime is a disaster tho... main reason being (im not sure about the full story but) the studio that was in charge of the 3d animation ( i think it was the one that did the bad beserk) dropped out or refused to continue the production half wayish thorught the making of the show leaving the other studio in charge of the rest of the work.
story wise it gets a 8/10 when compared to the ln just because of some changes that i feel like they mess with the pacing
but kumokos vc was absolutly amazing for this and basicly ran the show :)
and like i always say on anything about kumo
please read or listen to the ln to get an extra few layers of story including some missed scenes
and extra chapters that are like extra stories
love yall and have a good night
This story becomes more and more amazing each volume of the novel, it's actually insane.
Prepare to have your gray matter blown off
As a light novel reader all I have to say is oh god the twists have twists. It is a treat.
you still missed one of the big plot twists, FROM season 1 they were setting her up as the demon lord.
36:28 literally EVERYONES reaction to this
I think it’s important to mention that this anime was very hard to produce as they lost a ton of their work and the last episode was even delayed a week because of it
the first time i watched this anime was when it was being released and i noticed the animation so i only watched it if i had nothing else to watch but the story is actually good so if it had more budget it would be SO damn good
little fact about the scene in which she heals the boy and his mother: in the light novel she made them unconcious and cutting out their organs which she healed than afterwards back
I see the production house setting their animation budget priorities straight as deserving at least 10 wins.
I think most people figured out what was going on with the two seperate plots once the silk scarf was revealed, along with the explanation that the dragon egg was also found there.
It's the first time the two stories link through an item (that being the scarf) and it solves all the questions.
Still kinda insane how quick you put these out , damn you work way too hard but the product a awesome as usual
also the fact the teacher only called for help from head elf guy after one of her kids died (you can see one of the names is crossed off) was a really nice touch I think
I loved this anime to death. Loved it all. Great second half video! Can't wait for season two (fingers crossed!) and of course your take on it.
ONI-KUN!!! MY BOI!!! MY CHILD!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
(I’m so glad KumoDesu’s anime is getting a season 2 eventually, we waited so long for season one to come out for it to just end there)
I didn't figure out the timeline plot twist until after we saw Julius square off with the Demon lord and Wakaba spider.
Talk about effective advertising, "Raid Shadow Legends" is a meme at this point.
After realizing who everyone was at the end and connecting the time periods together, I rewatched it from episode 1 and i must say it was a much better experience finally understanding who person A is and why X area looks like this.
The writing is amazing and I'm definitely gonna read the light novel
can you explain please cause I'm hella confused right now
@@amarojulian7409 if you've only watched it once I suggest watching it from start to finish again! If you've watched it twice (or dont feel like watching again) just reply again and I'll explain how the timeline works !
@@DroptopDonn honestly i don't feel like watching it again could you please explain?
@@amarojulian7409 no problem! Basically when Kumoko (MC) is a spider everyone else that reincarnated is a baby! Since human type babies are generally weak and cant do anything themselves, their progression is greatly slowed! (This includes the vampire girl Sophia)
Essentially the time jumps between (I think) 15* years ago and present day! 15 years ago being when Kumoko starts her journey and levels up and eventually leaves the cave! And present day being when she's gained a full human form with her eyes closed! For the other reincarnations, present day is when they're all in school and stuff with the 15 years being when they're all babies. This means it took Kumoko a few weeks/months to exit the labyrinth as we can see when she's protecting Sohpia, Sophia is still a baby
When they enter the labyrinth and told about the Nightmare of the labyrinth that's Kumoko that they're talking to, and the vestiges are her body clones that she made with the eggs in case she dies that one time!
I think that about explains everything from an anime without spilling any hints from the LN. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)
@@DroptopDonn thank you ^^
In the manga unlike the anine, the cancer was actually taken out professionally, by cutting out the sick tissue and following it by regrowth of the cut out tissue.
39:43 is same for everyone. Literaly no one knew whats in the future and whats in the past until that exact scene in the end.
DUDE SAME
Definitely gotta try that LN man.
Hey we love you face!! Great video as always
IIIIT FINALLY CAME AND THIS VID IS EPIIIIC
If you go back to the early episodes you will see hints about all of the plot twists, including some not yet revealed in the first season.
I actually agree with everything you said good about this anime word for word
As I said in the first part of this video. I love your commentary. The things you love at and point out are the best part of this video.
I appreciate that!
@@AnimeWins I just watched a video talking about what if gidora was in how to train your dragon.
It hot me thinking. There are a lot of httyd fanfiction but I have yet to see a combo I think would make an awesome story. What if Valstrax from monster hunter was in httyd?
What do you think about i? Let me know ASAP
Wait until youi learn that the story only keeps getting better at an incredible pace from this point on.
I remember thinking that there was like 10 years of difference between Kumoku and the other guys when we first saw the earth dragon egg from kumoko point of view and also in the future when she's born
the first time I realised is when the mage talked about meeting the spider 10 or 15 years ago,

good video
thank you for all the good content
The OP was sung by Suzuki Konomi. So yes, she also did Redo for Re zero. At least I'm guessing that's the one it reminded you of.
i started this with the light novels, and the timelines are even more unclear in the beginning. it took like until the 3rd or 4th book until it became clear, but then it was so clear, i felt dumb for not instantly realizing...
the overall Lore is really quite good and many things have been told already. like why the elves have those machines, why the world has that skill system and also why the demons and some administrators are against it.
but the best part is, that we are also told who Shiroo (our spider-chan was named by Ariel, the demon lord) was before that reincarnation.
i figured out the whole thing of the whole 2 time periods when they said they rescued fei's egg 10 years ago and it was clearly the same egg that kumoko had a few episodes back
I didnt know but if u do go back and watch it u can see her in the background whenever we see the present day demon lord
Yeah fuck that individual in particular.
What about D?
I honestly can’t believe that Kumoko’s VA is the same VA for Rita Rosweisse in Honkai Imapct 3rd - the two voices are so completely different that if you didn’t know, you wouldn’t know. Aoi Yuuki is such an incredibly talented VA.
If you did really love the anime, I'd highly suggest starting the light novels. The story is basically as you said, a total plot twist and turns basically every trope on it's head.

I will say the story after this is a bit slower as the parts with shun and the humans then the fight with the elves at the very is end is the main climax of the story. And the novels basically just play catch up to that. Showing how the demon lord and kumoko became friendly, how she became shiro, how she got a full human form, who/what potimas and the elves truly are, the mechs, and a lot more.
3:30 That foreshadowing though...
I love the fact that each of the reincarnations has a crap ton of skill points to distribute, while White had almost none ^^
21:15 Is great foreshadowing.
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for so long!
I’ve rewatched the ending with the Reunion SO MANY TIMES
fun fact in the manga and im presuming the light novel after the mother fight the multiple personalities hold a bonfire dedicated to their hatred of the elves XD
Jauhhh! I have waited for this. Your videos are great.!
The story itself as well as the character development saved it from being a total disaster, not to mention the work done by Aoi Yuuki in voicing Kumoko and Shiraori (White).
after reading the translated light novel volumes i cant wating for more content
Yes I have been waiting for this
highly recommend the light novels if you don't want to wait for season 2, they are excellent
The ending of vol 7 and 9, so great!! I was in shock reading the end of vol 9.
@@Sgt_SealCluber Are LNs illustrated? I've never layed my hand on one. I just know anime and that mangas are visualized. So are LNs pretty much books?
@@Gamer-g2v1r They're books, around 300 hundred pages each with up to 7 illustration or more, but its very easy and fast read
@@morwayEN Need to look into that then. Might get expensive tho
Shiraori (Kumoko in the form we see her at the end) is #1 Waifu and my opinion will not change.
also Aoi Yuki is a top tier VA
this means that as some point we'll need a wins-sins for "Ive killed slimes for 300 years and maxed my level" since she voices the main character and sings the opening there too ;)
Thank you for this. Love your videos!!!🥳🥳
Dude yes I’ve been waiting for this
Loved the review~!
(Warning: The rest of the comment contains stuff spoiler-inducing [as in, if you remember the entire show, this info will cause you to get spoiled])
When it comes to names, reincarnations have 2, one of them being their name they got in this world, and the other their pre-reincarnation name.
Love this! Been waiting, thank you!! ❤️
can't wait to see your reaction to the upcoming PLOT TWISTS
I really like your content. Keep up the good work!!!!
And congratulation on the sponsor!!!!
It is FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!
I am so excited for an 2nd Season on that Anime. It is crazy
Took you long enough to figure it out. But it's fine like this. Figuring it out too early honestly dampens the reveal something fierce.
Really wish I didn't figure it out by the time we started seeing Wakaba use her evil eye skills for the first time. (though that only confirmed what I suspected since the introduction of the demon lord...)
There is such a thing as getting spoilers solely from yourself. It's fun thinking it through, but at the same time, not that great. It's mostly why I insist that my friends withold ANY information related to things I like. Because otherwise I tend to end up figuring out the whole plot on the spot, even off of trivial bits of information. -_-
I ve been waiting for this :D
I know it's very unlikely, But as you've mentioned how it's one of your favorite anime, just curious if you ever thought about doing a video on ore monogatari (My Love Story)?
Anyway thanks for introducing me to a ton of new anime over the last couple of years!
If patrons vote it in sure
I was waiting for this
honestly despite the labyrinth only being relevant to 2 actual characters, it feels like one of the most important landmarks in this world. Kumoko being associated with the surface is something I have as well
I really like two story play alongside each others and as we going further to the stories everything seems to come together
and, this is anime that would never get a second season treatment
The moment I saw Baby Vampire and then teenage Vampire I knew there was a time gap
Personally I'd give more wins to the scenes of talking about army movement or battle plans. Purely because a lot of isekai's and such with large wars just leave those out or make it super brief
YES, really with some assumptions its clear from the first episode, if their all born then obviously kumikos segment cannot be in the current time since humans dont age that fast
also im surprised you didnt get it when the party exited the dungeon, the guy talks about it like the whole incident is ancient history
The story is surprisingly so good it makes me stand the cgi, which isn't always bad, thank heavens
they really went all in into creatin SIASSW
