    When you said "HIGHLY modified" I assumed you were talking about a bore kit, port and polish, aftermarket pistons, head work done, etc. not an exhaust and some eBay bits that make it look good.

    • @AmazingEtte
      @AmazingEtte 7 років тому +24

      Exactly, intake, exhaust, crank, pistons, big bore to like 400cc, upgraded suspension front and back, steering dampering, sprockets swaps. There is so much you can do to these bikes and make it a sleeper without making look like its from hot wheels.
      You could even take the front end from a salvage bike with Upside down forks and double disc or a better single disc and bigger front tire. Much more stability.

      Do you know of a big bore kit for the R3? I know of the standard mods... PCV, full exhaust, sprockets, springs... I've found a 5" rear wheel for it, even found some pictures of a turbo bolted up to it, but for the life of me I can't find a bore up kit anywhere.

    Anyone new to motorcycles looking at these for a first bike: Yes, go for it! Don't worry about growing out of it quickly. Sure, you may have its basics down within a couple weeks, but you will still spend the next 6-12 months challenging yourself in new ways. Braking, launching, deep cornering. This bike doesn't punish you as harshly for small mistakes like a 600cc would. With almost 40hp you will still have plenty of power even at freeway speeds. I have an r3 and my first bike was a 1200cc harley sportster, and between the two the R3's engine handles 80mph much more gracefully than the 1200cc big harley motor! Exhaust, levers, and some small cosmetics and you still haven't even broken 300$ on mods. 58 miles per gallon driving like a hooligan, and 23$/mo to insure as a male in his mid 20s.... good luck getting that with a bigger bike. I think MOST sensible riders could get 1-2 years out of an R3 before truly being masterful of its characteristics and stepping up. I plan on hanging onto mine for the rest of college and then I will grab the bigger cc bike later when I have ironed out all my mistakes. Also, these bikes can totally handle 2 up riding!

    Yep! My wife has an R3. It's her first bike so she can't compare it to anything else. Me on the other hand? I have been riding almost 50 years. I have way too many good things to say about it. It does supply an endless amount of fun! The most fun of any bike I have ever ridden.

    I love my R3 sound! I noticed a huge difference putting in a K&N air filter, Dynojet Power Commander and M4 Street Slayer slip on. The acceleration is much smoother, the shift points are in the higher RPMs and it's just a better machine now. I highly recommend modifying the R3.

      I noticed some dead spots in the power band after an FC and the Street Slayer. I read something about an ECU flash that costs $250 and should take care of those issues while still being able to remove the FC!

    Yamaha had a recall on their R3's after you got rid of yours. One thing they changed was a lever in the transmission, and the hardware around the shifter. That's why you are experiencing a huge difference. I also noticed that it just felt like a new bike after the recall.

    I’ve done so much to my R3. I’ve hit 124/199KMH a couple of times now. Making 43RWHP now, and I love it! Keeping this bike forever. In truth though, for your money go with a Ninja 400 tune it and enjoy 50RWHP. I was considering an R7 next, but I’m going to turbo the R3 eventually instead and enjoy 60RWHP. The 20’ S1000RR is going to be my next bike.

    Bikes weren't made to be swapped like puzzle pieces man.. Jesus.. What the hell is this guy thinking. It's not a Nissan S13 dude.. It's a bike. When you ride, especially on the road, the last thing you want is to worry the bike too. And don't get me wrong, engine swapping a bike is totally do-able, but this kid doesn't really know what he's doing.. My $0.02 man, for the love of riding and becoming a better and safer rider, just up to a 600 haha. From a financial standpoint too.. And who cares about being unique and cool, just enjoy riding. I mean unless this is some normal swap people are doing online all day, don't do it. Do you know if the frame can support the added torque produced? Do you want to be riding on skinny tires like that with more power? + you'll need an engine, harness and ECU which is an arm and a leg. On top of that taking the chance that the bike won't even ride good at all 😰😟

    • @SUCKmyFIREbawl
      @SUCKmyFIREbawl 8 років тому +4

      TL:DR: keep swaps for drag bikes and non-road used bikes. It's not as easy and safe as it seems. And again just my 2 cents

    I have the R3 and I'm really hesitant to sell it too. Much rather save up the cash to get a 2nd bike, but like you I may not have much say in it.

    Damn, you drove the sh!t outta that bike... speeding like that where I live, in Ontario, would be an instant loss of license and impound of vehicle - no joke. Lol... nice vid. Lots of enthusiasm for the small bikes... love it!

      Foodstamp Amp'd Mercia! Where we let stuff go all the time!...
      Not sure if that's a good thing... But it makes young kids lives funner!

    • @wegface69
      @wegface69 8 років тому

      And this is the reason he wrecked his own bike a few days after this vid. There are things called "tracks" for that kind of riding imo.

    • @TG93Handle
      @TG93Handle 8 років тому

      weg face there is also a thing called "life". Try to enjoy it as much as you can. You get one shot one time.
      Not trying to start an argument on what you should and shouldn't do. But you can also isolate yourself all day in your house so as not to pose a risk to yourself or others.
      But why not get a little crazy, have some fun. Bikes are provably the most acceptable thing to go crazy on. Almost all wrecks you really only hurt yourself.
      I'll be damned if when I get a bike and don't open it up. Because that tells me "I'm going to sacrifice extreme joy and adrenaline in return for being a little bit safer"...no. I'd rather die at 40 having fun than 60 living normally and 80 living cautiously.

      Gamerred:
      Weg has a point. *Yammie presses his luck... let's be honest*. But I can't say if that was a factor in the crash or not, I wasn't there.
      Lastly, on your last remark against weg... you don't have to drive like you're at the track while riding in the streets to "have a life". That's a pretty narrow definition of having a life. I mean, you don't even have a bike by your own admission... so... yeah.

    • @TG93Handle
      @TG93Handle 8 років тому

      Foodstamp Amp'd I do own a bike. And I drive it like a phycopath.
      On the dirt bike track. That's what "driving like your on a track" is. Driving like nothing will ever be more important than going fast.
      Now you can abide by every law ever. But don't you think you will live your life just a little bit happier by releasing endorphins and adrenaline as you hit 130 at that straightaway? Or you could go 60, never knowing how that would have felt at that moment.
      So, luckily 99% of speeders have never driven on the street like they were on a track. No one is hitting apex's not worrying about opposing cars. No one is yelling at casual drivers because they are going to slow in they're racing line.. On the highway.
      And I think that *everyone should push they're luck*. I want to die from pushing it to for one day. That is my preferred death.
      But whatever. Usually things I disagree with on people enough to debate is a situation where both me and the other person believe we are right so much so to the point of where neither will ever change they're mind.
      So that's my opinion on it. Ya never know. You might here on the news that I died because I hit a deer doing 160. And you can say in your head: "that guy lived his life how he wanted more than I did. He probably had more fun doing it to".

    With upgraded suspension and enough skill you can take anyone in the corners on a 250/300 guys get 600-1000s but forget to keep learning

    • @AmazingEtte
      @AmazingEtte 7 років тому

      However paying what this kid did was INSANE. I bought my ninja 250 for 700 dollars and have put about maybe another 700 to get it running like a top. 7000 miles, jet kit, race exhaust, upgraded fork springs and fork oil, upgraded rear shock, 17 inch wheels, upgraded sprockets and it does 85 in top gear around 7k now where it was closer to 8.5k stock at that speed and the stock suspension was garbage. Tops out over 120 now indicated probably somewhere in the teens real speed and it cost me almost 1/5 or less of what this guy paid for virtually the same thing
