      I have had no clue who this girl was for like the past few months, but I have been watching Bub Games and one of the funniest things is when he pretends to spit on somebody. Just the concept of pretending to spit on somebody but being unable/not having the balls to actually do it is absolutely hilarious to me. The girl kinda brings a hazbin hotel seth rogan vibe to the joke and it's a shame that's all most people see it as. It's much funnier with a broader mind than, "haha sex joke" 😂

  • @jelmervanriet790
    @jelmervanriet790 5 місяців тому +140

    Totally feel that 'not mad at her, but mad at the system' feeling.
    Companies and the like have found that a click is a click and a comment is a comment and that finding content that a lot of people don't like is much easier than finding content that people do like.
    So now a lot of attention goes to mediocre or even bad types of content and takes away even more of the spotlight of people who do try really hard.
    And while nobody deserves succes, it does feel quite unfair when so many people who try really hard for a long time dont find much succes but it basically falls into the lap of another pretty girl who makes a random comment. Because if succes really is random, why bother trying at all?

    • @KudosREAL
      @KudosREAL  5 місяців тому +55

      It's taken me a lot of failure to realize this but as a creative if you only chase success for the sake of success you will get burnt out when you see how unfair the system is, but if you make something that you are proud of and you enjoy then you have already succeeded champ. Even this dumbass video had me up til 1am locked in doing funny edits with a big grin on my face and that was arguably more rewarding than seeing the views tick up

    • @Greatdictator
      @Greatdictator 4 місяці тому +7

      @@KudosREAL I think part of the reason people are as annoyed by that is because of how much of a struggle it can be just surviving for some people, especially creatives, this of course varies with where you live.
      But you are correct when it comes to making sure if you get into something creative expecting sucess, its the wrong attitude to go into it, especially youtube

    • @ekki1993

      Bad content can be hard to make. The Hawk Tuah girl is one of hundreds of global memes, many of whom tried (and failed) to turn it into profits. She had luck, sure, but the same can be said of content you call "good" (whatever your metric is), and there's surely people out there that think it still represents our failure as a civilisation. It's all content, after all.

  • @KingSvenDeluxe

    I think it's worth noting that a large number of people who found it funny, and consequently shared it as a co-worker meme, genuinely thought that the idea of someone "spitting on that thing" was outrageous and hence humourous. Algorithm is even more interesting when you see how it’s built. The measures that phones go to in order to build the algorithm is amazing.
    I work in digital forensics and review phone artifacts and logs. Phones record active screen time, facial attention, screen orientation, dwell time, app switching, repeated focus, screenshots, sharing, audible response, facial response, etc.
    Not only does the “algorithm” measure the audiences willingness to view something. It records and turns their actual reaction into tangible data.

      @TopsailKayakFishing 9 днів тому

      @ honestly, there aren’t any modern smart phones that don’t. It’s pretty much the cost of being connected in modern times (on top of your bill…) Older phones aren’t “supported” because they don’t make passive income through user data. Best thing to do is practice mindfulness of how you use your phone and how often you actually need it to be attached to you. Physically putting your phone down for a bit every day limits it. I use mine out and about for necessary communication but tend to put it down when I get home and not touch it again unless I need to. Helps mentally as well.

    That chronically online thing is no joke. I got one friend (who I love like a brother) that for the longest time was ranting all 'culture war style' like he was out on the streets protesting the protesters, rolling up his sleeves and fighting the good fight every day. The real story if that he never leaves his home, regurgitates angry sound bites he hears on youtube and doesn't realize the few stories that the internet is mad about are always one off incidents that happened on the other side of the country with the other 99% of people going about their daily lives with no clue about any of it. He's chilled out on barking that stuff at me after realizing that I don't care and rarely see those things eye to eye.
    I lucked out, I think I'd be locked in a bubble too if I didn't have a wife with interests far away from my own. It keeps me sane that the world ending story of the day (as presented by youtube) is a story that she's never even heard of or gives any shits about.

    Honestly shit like this is the best argument if someone wanted to limit voting rights. Do you think these "people" deserve to have a say in your everyday life?

    I'm proud to say that while I've seen the odd "hawk tuah" reference in UA-cam comments, I had absolutely NFI what it was until now.... I guess that puts me somewhere in the middle of the _Online Chronically Online_ scale. _'Perennially Online'_ perhaps?

    Big difference between cashing out on a single moment and building a steady income/following as a creator. I’m happy for her, but viral moments are fleeting. Might as well strike while the iron’s hot

    of course its deeply unfunny, the kinda people who like hawk tuah are the same kinda person who would watch the "I'd buy that for a dollar!" show from robocop unironically

    They did her DIRTY by making her a pillar for salty ppl to say she "didn't deserve / want the fame" they made her a pillar for hate watchers without her knowing that was going to happen to her.
    It's kind of scary how sponsors can just bring that to a persons' life and not only is it legal, but it is profitable.

    I think memes like that should'nt really be anywhere near profitable unless you're already a public personality, there are exceptions, sure, but just because you had a funny response in the level of a friend group gathering joke does not mean you should be famous.

    Getting mad about Hawk Tuah success is like Getting mad at a lottery winner. Dont give up your dream, because if you're talented, you'll make it. Oh and dont get married or make babies...or form a drug habit.

    I think the point to be made here is that people who aren't youtubers at all and have to bust their body at non-creative jobs full time could make the same argument about almost any UA-cam channel. Ultimately, there's a fundamental problem in the system. Both of people working full time and not making a living and of people getting way too much money from chance-based fame.
