Brad Delp had arguably the best male rock voice ever with a range unmatched by many. All tracks off their first two albums stand on their own and you can just pick anyone and you will not be disappointed. However, this is my favorite Boston song of all. It is an extremely sad song especially as he realizes he will never be able to live up to his girlfriend's "idealized" version of who he is and the disappointment she will undoubtedly experience when she discovers that reality.
You couldn't go wrong with any song off Boston's first two albums. This is classic Boston -- no introduction needed and so damn good!! Great song, selection and reaction -- thank you, Rob and Harri!
Brad, why did you feel you had to go? My god. Your voice brings this grown man to tears. The song is a mans anthem of not being able to live up to Your partners expectations of you Miss u Brad. Love Boston
Who cares? Tom Scholz sure doesn't. He gets the last laugh, music still popular almost 50 years later, and he's still healthy and active. And he fought Big Music and did it his way, and got the best singer to do the few things he couldn't DIY.
Thanks for doing this one. It has very special meaning to me while sitting for 3 weeks and 1 day with my 29 year old daughter in hospice care until she passed away on March 9, 2023. Ironically, Boston’s singer, Brad Delp, took his own life on the same day, March 9, but in 2007.
@@dougbodenhamer9391 thank you. My life just gets better every day. 🙄 My wife and I had our first date on her 16th Birthday in 1982. On August 9, 2024, she passed away from a catastrophic stroke and really was gone in an instant. 😞 She was just 58. I lost 1/2 my family in the past 17 months. I’m the oldest. I’m not supposed to live to bury my 29 year old daughter and my younger wife. 😢 My daughter’s passing was a Blessing as she suffered for 5 years. My wife was just completely out of the blue and totally unexpected. It’s hard to believe it still. She gave me everything that matters to me in life. Our kids of course, but if we both would’ve lived to 100, and I were Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk COMBINED, I could not repay her for what she has given to me. Her love was priceless. 🙂❤️💔
I've always felt this song has the most epic ending I've ever heard. It builds, and builds, and builds, and finally comes in with that huge pipe organ at the end and takes it up to it's absolute maximum level, then it just drops you off a cliff and comes full circle, ending the song how it started, with a soft piano. Absolute brilliance.
It's like you know when you hear a Chicago song, there is no doubt when you're listening to Boston. Their attention to detail makes ever song something special! Thank you Rob & Harri, this one was a real treat! You reaction is right on IMO, because every girl wants a knight in shinning armor, makes it hard for any man to live up to...
I came from the same area north of Boston that all these guys did (except Tom). Pretty much everyone in that music community knew everyone else. They played in a lot of different bands and with a lot of different people as well as somtimes with one or two the others. I met them all but was closest to Sibby. We played a lot of the same bars and clubs, though being a solo performer I didn’t play the the large dance clubs they they did. I also managed a popular local band which happened to be Sibby's favorite band. One of the guitarists was his best friend from childhood, the other had been roomates with him, and the bass player also had been in bands with him. Of course we were all thrilled when they hit it big with Boston. They would all still occassionally show up at our gigs (except Tom who didn’t actually hang out with them often) and sit in with the band, much to the surprise and delight of the crowds. I sure do miss those days!
The first album was created in a basement of an apartment building by Tom Scholz who wrote it, produced it, mixed it and played almost all the instruments. And Brad Delp was the singer.
Historically speaking "Goodbye To Love" from the Carpenters was the first power ballad. This is where the Richard and Karen infused a fuzz rock guitar solo into the track. Pissed off the fans of their traditional mellow sound..but the rest of us in the rock community were amazed. It was a huge step.
You nailed it, Harry that’s exactly what the songs about. We got married too young and identified with this song and made me realize that I felt exactly the same way.
I was always so proud of bands from my hometown of Boston and then these guys came along and put it over the top. Great choice and wonderful commentary. Thanks Harri and Rob 🌺✌️
Pfft. Not better than any of the cuts on their debut album. In fact, I was overall pretty disappointed with their second release. I think they were forced to do it by the record label by contract. :-/ Could be wrong.
@livenhfree one of their best means out of all of their songs. I'm probably in agreement with you as far as the second album. It was slightly disappointing and not as good as the first one, but there are some good moments on it.
I would love for you to react to I know about Jude. 🌻 Also Once upon a Time in the West by Dire Straits is awesome. 👍 This is my favorite reaction channel. ⭐

The most underrated front man in rock history.

Miss u Brad. Love Boston
Hitch a ride is another great Boston tune
Boston is simply one of the greatest rock and roll band. Love these guys. Saw them 7 times
Lead vocals the fabulous Brad Delp. Back up vocals and harmonies by Brad Delp and Brad Delp. How great is that?
They get left out to be in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. R.I.P. Brad Delp
And Sib Hashian (drummer), passed Mar 22, 2017 RIP
Honestly, who really cares about the Hall of Fame(you can’t really call it Rock hall of Fame). They jumped the shark years ago. IMHO
Who cares? Tom Scholz sure doesn't. He gets the last laugh, music still popular almost 50 years later, and he's still healthy and active. And he fought Big Music and did it his way, and got the best singer to do the few things he couldn't DIY.

I cant imagine losing one of my 2 daughters, I love you man.....
God be with you. What a beautiful tribute. RIP.

One of my favorite from Boston
Brad has a beautiful voice!❤
one of the greatest produced songs ever

All the albums..
The REAL first power ballad, IMO.
I completely agree

What a great ballad, always my favorite group growing up. Their first 2 albums are practically greatest hits albums.
Music is supposed to make you feel something. Here we are with this emotional song.
Brad delp was so talented what a beautiful voice This man had.
If you haven't done Amanda by Boston you should
Just a beautiful song...and I don't think there is a man among us who can't relate to these lyrics in some way or another...
You are totally right again. Brad sings with power and emotion. I love the pipe organ at the finish.
Brad Delp bringing a beautiful melody to life in the way that only he could do
"digging into himself and bringing out a feeling" - maybe it was More Than A Feeling!
One of my fave Boston songs. So honest and beautiful.
Amanda is a great ballad by them.
Brad Delp, RIP. I'm just glad I got to see him sing live before the end. (Even if that was 35 years ago)
My two favorites are Rocking Roll Band & Smoking !
Good choice
So glad you reacted to the FULL version and not the Official Video that is chopped by a full two minutes, including the entire guitar solo. 👌
My very favorite song from Boston! Thank you Rob and Harri!
Rob - In my opinion, this submission choice from Boston is terrific. Thanks for a wonderful review, Harri
Glad you enjoyed!
This one's in my playlist. Brings me back to when I was 15. Many, many years ago.
Emotional song..true storytelling song 🎵 ❤
You nailed it, Harry that’s exactly what the songs about. We got married too young and identified with this song and made me realize that I felt exactly the same way.
Brad’s vocals and Tom’s awesome guitar work is 2nd to non
I was always so proud of bands from my hometown of Boston and then these guys came along and put it over the top. Great choice and wonderful commentary. Thanks Harri and Rob 🌺✌️
Go Celtics -- Go BoSox!!
Music, like any other form of art, is subject to interpretation
Love Boston, saw them in 79 or 80 when they played at my college in Nacogdoches, TX.
BINGO! well done Harry as usual
This is a beautiful yet powerful, emotionally-charged song! One of Boston's best!
Pfft. Not better than any of the cuts on their debut album. In fact, I was overall pretty disappointed with their second release. I think they were forced to do it by the record label by contract. :-/ Could be wrong.

I get lost in most of Boston's songs.
🎶🎶🎶🎶👍
Hang .in brother..from America....keep doing what youre doing.😊 5:18
Love you bro...from long ago in America...

The best 80s makeout music
I would love for you to react to I know about Jude. 🌻 Also Once upon a Time in the West by Dire Straits is awesome. 👍 This is my favorite reaction channel. ⭐
❤❤❤❤
Some sad foreshadowing here, Brad's suicide note alluded to pressures he did not feel he would live up to.
I forgot there was an extended version. Effin radio stations suck😡
Nobody covers Boston/Brad!!
What about a Child to Dad
💖💖💖
