Ann (dark hair) is the primary vocalist and Nancy (blond) is the softer voice but primarily guitarist extraordinaire! The two sisters do an amazing job of both singing and both playing instruments on their cover of the Led Zeppelin song called "The Battle of Evermore"! You should give yourself and your millions of fans a treat and react to them doing that song!!
GR8 reaction! I saw Heart in concert, back in the day. They were truly amazing. Both of them actually sing, in different songs. Their voices are powerful and haunting, at the same time.
By far my favorite Heart song. The piano in the softer parts of the song beautifully expresses the emotional tension...the worry of one waiting for but unable to capture the heart of another.
100%. I also think the metronome like rhythm of the piano mimics the passage of time. "I hear the ticking of the clock..." My favorite of their songs. The entry to the second chorus ALWAYS gives me chills.
@SDD-vb2rt Glad to hear from someone who also detects the instruments...the art of using the instruments to help tell the story the lyrics are conveying...it's a good point you make! I've made other such comments to Day One Reacts consideration of "Brother Louie" and "Lily was Here"....but you are the first to give me some feedback...thanks!
@SDD-vb2rt Oh, and as to Heart's "Alone " I've always thought of " Till now I always got by on my own...." The point at which the tension I talk about explodes..becomes unbearable.
Yes, Ann was lead on this. The power of her voice is incredible. Another singer who is as powerful is Pat Benatar. Saw her live in the '80s. Her voice is "scary powerful." Any will qualify for a listen.
You've probably already heard "Barracuda", "Magic Man" and "Crazy On You" but have you checked out their ballad "Dog & Butterfly" and the rocker "Straight On" from the late 1970s? There's so many other big ones (Nancy sings lead on "These Dreams" and "Stranded"). Check out the song with the music video "All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You", their last big hit from 1990.
Hi Angela, great reaction! Ann is the lead powerhouse vocalist, Nancy has the softer voice and shreds guitar!🎸 I voted for this song because Ann’s vocal power can really bring the emotion in a song, hits you right in the feels! Thank you for a great reaction!
There’s a live performance of Heart in 2002 in Seattle - it’s a full concert, more “stripped down”/acoustic - and they sound as-great-or-even-BETTER! (…AND, lead singer Ann Wilson was 52 at the time… as fantastic as ever!)
I turned my volume up and waited for you to get the full HEART affect..the 80's were EPIC..God I loved the hot rock of the 80's..just cannot beat it..I'd go back tomorrow and do the whole ten years all over again..best time of my life....🇬🇧💞🙏✝️👍👏🎶🎵🇺🇸
@@SWLinPHX Yes I agree..to be a teenager in the 70's was fantastic..loved the fashion and of course the music..queueing for a loaf of bread..power cuts. 3 day weeks..miners strike..but it was fun to be a teen.
@@kimmarievan-ever6599 The music was great and society was less obsessed with money and wealth than in the 1980's "Me" generation of yuppies and shows like "Dynasty" and "Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous". What country did you grow up in that what you remember is queueing for a loaf of bread, power cuts and miners strikes?
Absolute perfection!! Ann is the lead but her sister, Nancy is just as powerful with the harmony! Their vocals are amongst the best I've ever heard! The power, range, harmony, visuals, second to no one I know of!! Heart is Iconic and will always be!
This one is a 😃👍 gem! I saw other reaction 😃😂 channels, and they all praised the song! It's very special to me for very deep and personal reasons! I cannot elaborate! Have a 😊👍 good one!
I always say Ann is our generation’s Janis Joplin. Besides being my all time favorite female vocalist she is absolutely gorgeous from head to toes. She brings tears to my eyes too!
I saw them in 1977, Ann's voice sounds just a strong as it did a decade earlier. Ann sung lead most of the time. Nancy sung lead on "These Dreams" and the cut on the record she had a cold and didn't like how she sounded. After many tries she couldn't get the sound right, so they went with the full take, and it was a hit.
Fun fact. The original song was recorded in 1983 by a band called i-Ten and featured on their album called Taking a Cold Look. Check it out. But Heart absolutely crushed this song.
I fn love Heart. So, so good. I was lucky to see them live a few years ago. Phenomenal. They even covered Zeppelin and it was awesome. I love their 80s songs.
Great reaction. Ann is the brunette and Nancy is the blond. They have been performing since the 1970s and was one of the first female bands. Heart has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, and has sold over 50 million records worldwide, including approximately 22.5 million albums in the United States. They have placed top ten albums on the Billboard 200 in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, and 2010s.
Growing up I had many day dreams about Nancy Wilson. Something about a woman able to play a guitar that well, very attractive. Ann Wilson's vocal power and command is unmatched. When shes singing... you listen.
Yeah, one of their best, Anne belting it out, Nancy provides texture and is a glue for this band. A shout out to Howard Leese on lead guitar, he always brought it for them. Try Black On Black II sometime, a great rocker from them in the mode of Barracuda. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
THE BIGGEST reason why I love your reacts..., you listen to the whole thing...and you are engaged with the music. It either moves you...or it doesn't Heart is Rock Royalty...Female or otherwise.Good reaction.
Ann's vocals are so phenomenal on this song and absolutely amazing on all songs she sings. Howard does the guitars and guitar solo on this song. He was in Heart from 1974 to 1995.
Absolutely one of THE GREATEST Bands of all time. Ann has such an incredible/unmatched voice......and Nancy is just one of the best guitarists in the history of forever. (AND has a great voice, as well)
Ann is the lead vocalist of Heart, and Nancy rocks that guitar 🎸!!! I saw them a very long time ago in Buffalo New York and the sound that amazing!!!! The concert was incredible!!!! Thanks for the reaction👍🏻👍🏻🥰! Loved it and take care!
Great reaction Thank you for all you do Heart one of my favorite groups of all time Ann along with Karen Carpenter and Amy Lee and Natalie Cole probably are my Favorite voisces of all time
I love that Heart managed to get hit songs in both the 70's and 80's. I used to think that the chorus was "How can I get you a loan?" , as in a bank statement!
Ann Wilson greatest female rock voice, along with Patsy Cline, greatest country female voice, Karen Carpenter, greatest voice of pop romance and love songs, .....
Ann sang lead on this one, as she does with most. Nancy sings lead on “These Dreams” You don’t know how long I have wanted to touch you in the morning time, It’s actually: You don’t know how long I have wanted to touch your lips and hold you tight.
This song captures the feeling in a situation where someone you are around but may not really notice you is the object of your affection and you're trying to get up the never to let them know, risking rejection and making things awkward --- or making them great.
This song is a cover recorded by a few other artists and they weren't sure they wanted to record it too, but they hit bigger with it than their predecessors.
I’d like to make a suggestion… This is one of the most powerful, female duet combinations that has ever existed. Check out the song “strangers of the heart “from the same album that the song alone is from. It will not disappoint.
Anne has the stratospheric soaring rock voice whole Nancy does mostly backup vocals but boy can that lady shred a guitar and rock. ❤Wilson sisters rule!
Their biography is pretty cool!! I had to read it and write a paper for summer school my freshman year of high school. Basically turning a bad situation into an awesome career.
So my friend and I got into it about who was better: Heart, or Pat Benatar (this was when both were big and we were in High School) I said it was Heart, because Pat was too Bubblegum for me. lol
It was meant to be a rock ballad and Heart is a hard rock band so their original studio recording is recorded as a power ballad like the hair metal bands of that period. I personally prefer that version over the straight up slow ballad version they've done more recently. Both are great, just a preference.
@WithaJoeFro Well said, Joe. My thought was that Ann got a little carried away playing with the tempo in an effort to make it sound like an anxious heartbeat. Still, I readily acknowledge that to each their own creativity. Happy New Year ✌️
In Metro Seattle, Ann Wilson of Heart ❤, Geoffrey Tate of Queensryche, the late Layne Staley, RIP, of Alice in Chains ⛓ and the late Chris Cornell, RIP, of Soundgarden were students of the late singing coach David Kyle, RIP. Ann Wilson, brunette, is older than sister Nancy, blonde. Both play guitar 🎸. Nancy also plays piano 🎹. This is 1 of the best singing efforts of Ann Wilson. Alone. Written by Tom Kelly and Billy Steinberg. They wrote with or for Cyndi Lauper, The Divinyls, The Bangles, The Pretenders and others. Do also react to the singing voice of Nancy Wilson. Same album. Suggested video 📹: Heart performs There's the Girl 👧.
I write and record music. Ann is maybe THE best vocalist in rock history, without question the best female vocalist. Nothing short of an amazing vocal performance! They didn't even have "auto tune" back in the 80's.....The fact that no one has reacted at all to this comment is proof that U2b has me shadow banned. That is fine though.
If you really want to be blown away, watch their Stairway to Heaven tribute to Led Zeppelin at Kennedy Center Honors. Be sure to listen to the full version.
Ann and Nancy were iconic during my teens they were the best. I saw them many times and they were awesome live. I saw a cover by Floor Jansen of Nightwish who's a huge Ann Wilson fan of this song and it was really good. I think Floor is the only singer that could give Ann a run for her money on this song as a cover.
We all know and love the absolute powerhouse that Ann's voice is, but Nancy's highline vocals totally MAKES the chorus. I've seel them perform this hundreds of times, and i've also seen Ann performs it solo, and without Nancy's highline it's just not the same thing. It's still great, but just not the same
Ann (dark hair) is the primary vocalist and Nancy (blond) is the softer voice but primarily guitarist extraordinaire! Ann is black hair, Nancy is the redhead
Nancy does not have red hair. It's blonde.
Ann Wilson is THE goddess of rock. Amazing voice, amazing song and the shame of MTV forcing the video they did of this classic.
Another song from my favorites list. At 1:45 - BIG smile and then the hands go up to the mouth and that is the moment I know that
SHE GETS IT!!! 😁👍

I am 64 and still have the same reaction as you. There Iconic and they are also ahead of there time. People will love this song 100 years from now.

The 1970's were great also and gave us much of what music evolved to in the 1980s. Heart started and had several big classic hits in the mid '70s.

HELL YES!!!!
So many great songs from this band

Ann Wilson (dark hair) is the lead singer on Alone !!
Ann sang lead on this one, as she does with most.

Angela, three more really good Heart songs are: 1) There's The Girl 2) Stranded 3) I Want You So Bad.
Truly woman who ruled the 80s
I saw Heart about 5 years ago and i and the audience were gutted as they did not sing this. WHYYYYYY xx
