    People say the bass is hidden in Meshuggah, but it's more of an ear trick - once you hear it, it's very prominent in their sound, it's just very sonically and rhythmically tight with the guitars

    • @amystone7407
      @amystone7407 Рік тому +9

      They aren't the only band to utilize this. Mainly I feel that it is a tendency of the bassist of meshuggah to make a bassline that follows the guitar as opposed to being a background instrument.

    • @Lord_Raptor
      @Lord_Raptor Рік тому +12

      People expect the bass to be the lower sound in contrast to the guitars, but more often than not the bass in Meshuggah's music is playing higher than the guitars. Which, I think is awesome cuz it makes for an interesting sound and it doesn't overload you with too much low end.

      @@Mia-zv1oy me neither. the bass is anything but hidden, actually is often the loudest guitar in a meshuggah mix.

    Funniest part of watching people listen to meshuggah is seeing 2 different tempos of headbang and both of them being on beat.

    In all my years and shows I have been to, I have never experienced a band the made the air and the ground move and vibrate like these guys can. Just the heaviest band in the world, bar none.

    I hurt my neck and gave myself a headache headbanging to this reaction, worth it 🤣. I've been a Meshuggah fan since 1995, even now at 40 years old I'm still going to risk injury rocking out to these guys.

    Meshuggah is the sound of our universe trying to communicate with us the only way it knows. Through violent vibrations of immense magnitude buzzing an unknown, yet awakening oscillation of your core.

    Want to get your mind blown even more? They sound EXACTLY the same when they play these songs live. It's hard for people to understand that this isn't some shit programmed in MIDI and synths or VST's are playing generated numerical values.
    These motherfuckers REAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLY play this tight & sound THIS GOOD live.
    Watch Meshuggah - Clockworks (Drum playthrough) where you see their drummer play the song. People I have shown that video to do not believe that he actually plays what he plays.
    Well, they do.

    I tried it. I am with Ty and Ryan - musically it was good. Maybe too heavy for me. But (always an upside), you said you have listened to this over (or on a kick). When you talk about songs or groups you like - you have a spark and you are very articulate, and at times passionate. So it is great that you bring all genres to the forefront.
    On an unrelated note. I listen to the Drive every night. (Our Classic Rock station). I have it playing all night. On Tuesdays they do Two for Tuesdays. Right now they just played Dreams then Rhiannon is on now. Referring to the Rhiannon video where you said Dreams is the precursor to Rhiannon. It works! ❤😁

    Shit is too hype. Feels like a Doom song on steroids

  • @SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra

    I, MUCH, prefer the stuff they were doing on, say: Chaosphere, Catch Thirty-Three ...even, Nothingface.
    ...this, just, seems like-tread material, to me.
    ...I would have gone with something like, say: "Mouth Licking What You've Bled"
    🤷🤷‍♀
    [Also: Jens vocals??: almost totally pointless.]

  • @SonicProfessor_a.k.a._T._Andra

    Uhm: VOICE is ALWAYS another instrument. Always has been. Always. In EVERY style of music. In every place they are used.
    ....It's, simply, ridiculous how people try to "put them in a different category, entirely" (or something)!
    (Just as: "drugs and alcohol"🙄🙄🙄🙄🤦🤦 -Uhm, **slap** alcohol IS a drug!!!
    It, just, happens to be a LEGAL one (like: nicotine -and, maybe NOT the other hundreds or thousands of additive chemical poisons that cigarette companies loaded-up cigarettes with, over the decades-) and, now (in many places) "da reefer,"" as well).
    ...But, yes: they are legalized drugs, but still: drugs.
    SO, it's, just, "drugs" (if you're generalizing).
    ...or are people, now, saying: "cheese and Camembert"?? ..."food and eggs"??? ...I am NOT going to list every member of the family I, just, gave the overall name/designation to!! W.T.F.?? 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🙄🙄😡).
    SO, yes: although you may, somehow, have thought of it as/thought it INTO "something different," the voice IS and ALWAYS has been: "a musical instrument."
    It takes JUST as much (if not MORE) musical training, gift, practice, skill and care as any other instrument that you plug-in, blow into or across or bow or hit, etc.!
    ...In fact, MANY of the greatest musicians have said (in different ways, at different times) that: "THE reason" (or, ONE of the main ones) that they play what they play or AS they do ...the reason that instrumentalists TRY to create new sound textures is: (even if in a distant way) to mimic or approximate the human voice (to degrees). ...because it is the most versatile, wide-ranging, intricate of ALL instruments. As well as the most INTIMATE and familiar.
    [Well: I'd say, probably: except when you get around to electric guitars (and sound-ideas based on its existence and what it has done & sounded-like in the past. ... Les Paul WANTED to "be an alien" ...to do stuff that couldn't be done ....and he HAD a human voice, already (Mary Ford), so...maybe not that! 😛🤷😆😆].
    It would behoove everyone to understand and remember this.
    👍👍👍
    {{Although, yes, I'll admit: not "immediately getting" this IS, somehow, "understandable" (as well.- I have NO idea why!!🤷) I spent a long time, for unknown reasons, misunderstanding things, myself....but was *shocked* when I realized and haven't "gone back" since! 🤘🤘}}
