Most people won’t need an Oura ring, as fitness watches do the same stuff. You need to have a very specific use case, and need, for this product. I am one of those people, and am a happy Oura ring user of 4 years. Great overview of your use/need for this product, Desfit!
@@GreenlifeFin hey! I wanted to track recovery and sleep metrics, and overall daily activity. But I didn’t want to wear a smart watch during the day (I love my old analog watch!). And I don’t like to sleep with something on my wrist (so didn’t want a whoop strap). So the form factor of a ring was spot on for my needs!
How has your oura ring held up over the years? I'm really interested in ordering one but I'm concerned if I'll have to fork out another $500 (I would like the gold one) in two years when it dies
Thanks for your review. I think requiring customers to pay a monthly subscription fee to access all the features of the product is unfortunately not a great selling point.
honestly, i will never understand that you need a gadget to inform you whether you had a good sleep or not. Call me crazy, but i know it right away i wake up. For the training stats and planing, just a good Garmin is enough.
You can feel fine on a few hours of sleep each day but over time it will have horrible health effects. You may not be getting as much sleep as you think you are
The ring is another way of confirming readings from your 'other device'. Plus it has temp features that will alert you to raised body temps overnight. Personally I like having my Aura and Garmin. Both do different jobs, and both are effective.
I also have a Garmin and have been considering getting an Oura as well. How does Apple Health cope with two devices? Which one sends data to Apple health?
Really hate subscriptions. It's bad enough that they want me yo to pay to access my own health data, but then they have the audacity to expect me to pay for the hardware upfront and subsidise their businesses too. If you must do a subscription, the ring should be part of the deal, including returns and upgrades at no further cost. That way they can actually recycle the product at the end of its life. I like the idea of an oura, but it ia not going to happen until they adopt a less draconian business model.
Nice video. Given your vast experience, what would you recommend for someone who wants to do (1) step tracking, (2) gym workouts with weights and (3) sleep / temperature tracking? If it had to be just one ring: Oura or Ultra Human? If it could be a combo of one ring and Whoop band/Apple Watch, what would you pick? Super interested in your thoughts. Thanks!
Great review yet again! I agree with you that wearing a watch to sleep isn’t near as ‘free’ or comfortable as the ring. I have an Instinct 2X and Oura and love them both! One of the reasons I like the Garmin so much is for Training Readiness. However, if you don’t wear it to sleep, then it, the Body Battery, and the HRV are redundant. Annoying also that Oura and Garmin don’t talk to each other!
Great video again and I'm glad you're confirming what I think about these expensive products 😂. My Garmin Watch is not going anywhere as it does more and better
I can say the same. The Garmin watches are more accurate, more functional, and more comfortable. Can't find any reason to use the ring. But it's just for me.
@@DesFit there’s a lot of times when I’m not wearing my Garmin and would still like some of those features. The oura ring definitely does that. Maybe I’ll try one.
I track all my workouts with Garmin and a HR Chest Strap. Since both Garmin and Oura sync with Apple Health, can my Garmin workouts sync to Oura with calories, heart rate, etc info and Oura will use that info for recovery score???
Expensive, very bulky. Especially for lady like me with short fat finger. It look extremely ugly on me. But I believe it looks ok with ppl have slim finger. But the key reason I return it was it is so uncomfortable!
Hi my question is which watch is better for me. I’m football player ⚽️ and I do extra training sessions like jogging, intervals, bike, swimming, gym or just play football. I’m wondering about polar pacer pro and forerunner 255. What do you think and maybe you’ve got some different option for me. Please respond 🙏
Hmm, not sure what would be ideal. A ring doesn't seem safe and a chest strap or arm heart rate strap seems like they could have issues with body contact.
It's either buying or subscription for me. Oura wants to have both, and that's a no-no for me.

I only wear mechanical watches so the Oura ring is perfect for me.

Oh wow, Best Buy sponsored!!! That’s a good ‘Fit’ for this channel. 👍
🙌
Great video, can you make one with the whoop 4.0

I'm just waiting for Garmin to make a ring that you can use to sleep with instead of the watch.
Thanks to Best Buy for sponsoring this video. You can check out the Oura Ring here: go.magik.ly/ml/1y9cl/

well the price is way to high.
Yea, ring $269 + 23 x $6 subs if you’re lucky to have battery health survived for 2 years
Compared to what? Like Garmin Fenixes are way overpriced at msrp
@@ikuturso7570buy them used then........................
To optimize your sleep? Absolutely worth it. More than video games!

This ring should communicate more with Garmin's ecosystem.

Now we need a Whoop vs Oura video! 🙂
Yup! Already in the works 👍

Would love a ring made by Garmin so I could wear a nice automatic watch and still get my health data
I think you can pay with HSAs for these now, i'd look that up!
Yup!
what is the different for oura ring gen 3 & oura ring horizon ???
Another good review, I’ll be sticking to my garmin venue 2 but cool bit of tech here
Nice to see the channel growing, you’re one of the best.
Thanks so much!
I've always loved the concept of the Oura ring. But it's hard to get use to wearing a ring. Maybe if they teamed up with Cartier ;P
It’s funny, I’m not really a ring kind of person but I’ve totally gotten used to it after wearing one for a few years
@@DesFit there’s a lot of times when I’m not wearing my Garmin and would still like some of those features. The oura ring definitely does that. Maybe I’ll try one.
Oura Ring rocks - dump your big bulky heavy smart watch and get an Oura Ring !! Super cool !!
Any help with syncing with google fit. I have had nothing but problems

Why doesn't´the Oura App import the intensity and heart rate of a workout from Strava anymore?
Anyone tried Oura ring for boxing or other striking martial arts?
Nice review about the Finnish smart ring 😄
Do you usually get leas than an hour of deep sleep? Strange how you exercise and you inly get 1 hour of deep sleep?
Exercise alone isn’t a direct correlation on deep sleep
Great info @DesFit thanks, do you know a good tracking for jiu-jitsu or grappling in general?
Hmm, not sure what would be ideal. A ring doesn't seem safe and a chest strap or arm heart rate strap seems like they could have issues with body contact.
I use my Oura Ring just for sleep tracking and the Apple Watch for fitness tracking.
